Dynamic Translation of boilerplate text in forms and reports
hi all. I'm trying to find a way to loop through the boilerplate text shown in any canvas and change their content depending on translation tables of my own. plz help urgently

Thanks for your response. but long time ago i used the oracle translation builder and i translated boilerplate texts and almost everything. I thought that since Forms are object oriented it is possible to read and scan all its objects and the developers of the translation builder should have used it this way. if you or any one have further information please respond and thanks in advance

How to do a partial refresh of a form and report on the same page?
Hi all,
im trying to make a page where you have a report on top and when you click the link instead going to the form page, the form page is on the bottom of the report. lets say im trying to send an id from the report to the item below so that i could fetch the rest of the item. however when i pass,other items would still refer to this one as null.
if im not mistaken this could be done with submit,but i want it to be partial refresh..
i tried steps here but this only worked when the lower part is a also a report:

Message was edited by: T101_cyberdyneIf so, you need to create a dynamic action with a javascript action to set the id of the report row in the id form field, and a subsequent pl/sql action to fetch the record based on the id. You can use this record to set the other form field items.
For the example in the above link the code looks as follows.

Yes! im looking for something similar. This looks interesting. I did look into apex_util.set_session_state yesterday but didnt know how to apply. perhaps i was doing it wrong.
Question though, so basically first use the javascript to send the EMPNO from top report to the EMPNO in the form fields below.
Then based on the EMPNO received in the form, do a loop to get the rest and put it into session. Correct?
if i'm not mistaken i did something similar,but when i tried to set session for the rest,it refers to to the p26_EMPNO still as null..does the javascript sets the id of report to the id of the form or does it just send over?
i'll try it out.

import went fine, but when I ran the IR page I got
ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
evidently the problem is a lack of public execute on DBMS_LOB, which is used in the generated IR source.
while waiting for the DBA to grant privs on DBMS_LOB, changing the dbms_lob.getlength call to length() fixes the IR.
however, i am not getting the download link on the associated form page... changed templates, that's not the issue -- we'll see if that's a dbms_lob issue as well -

Looks like there is a 127-column limit on the number of report columns supported when using that wizard. Do you have more than that?

I have installed oracle 8i enterprise ideation in my machine. This is a trial software. Connection from SQL plus is perfect and I have managed to manipulate Objects that came in the products default database.
Also, oracle Corporation shipped me Forms and reports release 6i, but I have been having a hard time installing it.
ORACLE_ HOME directory supposed to be the main directory for installation but it is showing an error when the installer tries to install release 6i in it. I create another directory and managed to install 6i but the connection from this new directory with Oracle 8i is not achieved.
My OS is Windows2000 professional edition.
What you guys think is the problem?

nullYou can use the "Oracle Net 8 assistant", "Oracle Net 8 Easy config" to see if you have the appropriate entry to the server in the local tnsnames.ora file (find it!). I mean that one in the Forms&Reports home, not that one in the Oracle_Home.
Under local I mean the file tnsnames.ora in your application, not at the Oracle Server - this is a common mistake.
You have to have there an entry like:
REKS816.RILA.BG =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = bigbluenew.rila.bg)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = REKS816)
It is a bad practice, but you can add such entry using simple text editor. But before that make a copy of tnsnames.ora in order to restore it if you do not succeed.
After that go to "control panel" and run "services".
Look at your Oracle_Home_TNSlistener80 process. Stop it! Start it again!
If you work on Unix find the relevant processes and notions of the Unix OS.

1. Forms are like templates.Forms define the text format and page layout of documents, which can be formatted (in accordance with the definitions) for display on the screen or for output to a printer.
2. Executable program that allows users to read and evaluate data in the database.
You can either display the output of a report on the screen or send it to a printer. You can also save it, so that it can be displayed as often as you like. It is important to be able to do this, because reading large volumes of original data can impair performance.
Examples of reports are ABAP reports, queries, and drilldown reports.
In short, forms are only templates and reports will retrive the data from system in certain format.

Error while using the 'Form and Report' wizard

I’m trying to create a form and report on EMP, using the APEX wizards, but I’m getting the following error message:
ORA-20001: Unable to create query and update page. ORA-20001: Unable to create query and update page. ORA-20001: Unable to create form on table. ORA-20001: Error creating shortcut id="" ORA-00001: unique constraint (FLOWS_030100.WWV_FLOW_SHORTCUT_IDX1) violated
This is something local, on my APEX instance only, but any ideas what is wrong here?

The original shortcut was probably created by an APEX wizard, but then I changed its type to ‘PL/SQL Function Body’. The shortcuts are not included in the translatable components, so I need a function to determine the application language, and issue the message accordingly.

So changing the shortcut type back to the type I need, after the wizard finished its job, should not have any side effects. Correct?

I'm looking for a tool, which can add multilingual capability to forms and reports. I found only one, called OraMuLaS.

thanks for your help. But if I understand it correctly, the translation hub has some limitaions:
- you'll need to deploy your application on WEB - no client/server
- any translation made, generates a seperate forms module; you can't use the same module for different languages
- if you need to a new translation, you need to build a new form module with the translation hub
- you can't change translations on the fly (during runtime)
So I think the oramulas tool might be better!?
You can find it under www.fairsys.de.
I did not test it now. So can't tell any experience for now.

Bespoke Oracle Forms and Reports and Adobe LiveCycle
I'm looking to produce dynamic questionnaire letters from Oracle Reports.
Currently they're produced in PDF format.
I now need to get them into a format where the recipient can enter their responses, save the doc and then email the doc back to the sender.
RTF format produces a 24Mb file which is obviously no use.
PDF is read-only and can't be saved from Acrobat Reader.
However, I've recently discovered Adobe LiveCycle Acrobat Extensions. Can anyone hep me out with any advice? On the Adobe site it says it plugs into e-Business Suite...but what about bespoke forms/reports?

But i have not installed IAS at all. I have only Forms and Reports 10g and Oracle database installed. As you said it only save on IAS, but can we save it on local machine. Is there any other alternative.
Again my second issues is --> I want to remove Mail option and rename Cache option to PDF from Destype combo box which appears at run time.

Designer/2000 Template Package VERSION 3.4.1

1)Is it possible to migrate only the forms and reports in 4,5 to 9i without the designer repository?Can the repository be left out?
2)What about the templates and packages on the 2000 Headstart version.Is it necessary to migrate the same to 9i also?
