Dynamically change a Report Heading

I have a report which displays information on cities.
In the customization screen, the user can select the State.
Is it possible to change the Report Heading to reflect the State the user selects?
Thanks, Larry

You could pass the state name that the user selects along with the title string in the query string
url would be something like this
http://your server/ORA_RPT.show?p_arg_names=_title&p_arg_values=the city selected is CITY NAME

Is there any way to dynamically change the path where the reports are saved. Teststand 4.1.1

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes you can run a VI in the ReportOptions Sequence, add it to the Setup of that sequence. If you dont use FileGlobals.Dated anywhere else then use a Local instead. Just remeber FileGlobals are only global to sequences that are contained in a SequenceFile. They are not global across SequenceFile unless you are using the Batch Process Model.
You will probably have to set a number of other parameters up to work with ReportOptions.Directory. The best way to handle this is to setup up you exact conditions statically (ie via the Config | Report Options... menu ). Place a breakpoint in the ReportOptions (use a label if you dont have any steps in the ReportOptions sequence at the moment) and run your Sequence. Remeber to use Test UUTs or Single Pass. You dont have to use your full test sequence just create a simple one step sequence.
When you reach the break point, then you can browse the Parameters.ReportOptions and see what properties are required to ensure your reports are setup correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Changing the report header/footer in SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise X1 3.1

    Hi ,
We have SAP BO 3.1. We have a requirement to change the header\footer of all the reports in the system.
I tried the option under Header/Footer Properties --> Appearance , Apply to all reports.
This option does change all the header\footer of all the tabs/pages within a report.
In our environment currently we have around 300 reports. We cannot edit individual report and make changes to the header/footer.
Is there any option through which i can change the header\footer of all the reports existing in the system?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
Go to the Report Attributes, in the Column Attributes section:
    1) Use Headings Type as PL/SQL.
    2) In the text area Function returning colon delimited headings write a PL/SQL anonymous block returning colon delimited headings.
    Hope it helps!

  • Changing the Column Header and Hiding the Column dynamically???

    Hi friends..
I'm new to OBIEE field. I'm working in a OBIEE project that requires to dynamically change the column header, and dynamically hide the column depending on the prompt value.
I know we can dynamically change the table header using the presentation variable but I couldn't do that same thing with column header.
I searched some forums that suggest to use java script for this purpose but I'm not able to do the same also. If anyone had same issue before please help.

toony, I'm not sure it's possible to do all that you want exactly the way you want, but here are some ideas you can pursue.
To dynamically change column headers without javascript, check this blog out...
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/oracle-bi-ee-101332-dynamic-column-headers-using-presentation-variables-sets-and-conditional-formatting/
As far as dynamically hiding a column, I don't think you can do this, but since you don't provide any details on how the PV is supposed to hide a column based on the value, are you talking about hiding a column for one PV value and another (different) column for a different PV value? Or are you talking about hiding one column when a PV has certain values and displaying it when the PV has a different set of values?
I have managed to create both scenarios via a work-around, but the procedures require some writing so I don't want to put both. Please detail how you want your PV to "hide" a column or columns.
P.S. I don't think column selectors will do the trick for you. Basically column selectors work like this: Say you have a report using Sales Region ID, Region Name, and Sales. Now let's say you want the user to choose if he/she wants to see annual sales, or quarter sales or weekly sales, etc. The column selector view would allow you to put the various columns (Year Sales, Quarter Sales, Weekly Sales) as an option the user can select. Once selected, the sales figure will change for the time period selected. For an example of how this is done, check out the section in this "Oracle by Example" link.
Waited too long to publish this... Madan beat me to it, so there is some overlap here...

  • Dynamic change of headings in SQL Report

Can you dynamically change a reports Column Heading Text. I want a selected value from the database to become 1 of the column headings.

If you are ready to take bit of trouble and modify the generated package body. you can try the following.
    1. go to the procedure show_internal in the generated package body.
    2. you will see PORTAL30.wwv_user_utilities.add_other_arguments(
    3. 'p_other_args' parameter has "_col_headings" as one of the values.
    4. the corresponding 'p_other_vals' values will show up in the report column heading. [ an example is PORTAL30.wwv_user_lang.lang('Empno') ]
So if you can pass your 'dynamic' heading values here, you can change the report heading dynamically.

  • Dynamically change column heading without Dashboard Prompt

    Hi All,
My requirement is change the column heading dynamically in a report. I have achieved this through setting the presentation variable to the dashboard prompt.
I have 5 columns in the dashboard prompt. Out of these 5 columns, I want to use only 1 column as dashboard prompt.
But still I want to dynamically change the column heading of the other 4 columns based on the only 1 column selected in the dashboard prompt.
Is there anyway to achieve this?

You need to have some logic to change other 4 columns based on 1 selected column.. where you want put that logic?
    BTW: Check these

Are you saying you are not able to create an object by value (select: statement) as sysdate and put it onto the headers of your report? You can use the add_months() function on the object to add the numbers of months you wish.
Please let me knnow for more.. You can get in touch with me on [email protected] for quick reply.

  • OBIEE 10g AGO Function Dynamically Change the Heading

I created columns in my rpd named Sales Previous Month, Sales 2 months ago and Sales 3 months ago using the AGO Function. This is working fine.
My problem is when displaying these headings the users would like to see the Month Name instead of the Headings I created. For example if looking at a report for January the users would like to see:
    Sales Previous Month = December
Sales 2 Months ago = November
Sales 3 Months ago = October
Is there any way to dynamically change the value of the column header to show the name of the month?

    Hi SriniVEERAVALLI,
Thanks for the reply. I have found that I might haven't created the relationship between dimension and fact tables correctly.
I initially created the foreign key relationship (instead of creating complex join) in physical diagram between the dimension and fact table. And the relationship type is hence greyed out.
I have deleted the foreign key relationship in physical diagram. Then
    1. In physical diagram, create complex join between dimension and fact . The relationship is 'inner' and can't be changed.
    2. In Logical table diagram, create foreign key between dimension and fact . The relationship can be changed (inner, outer, etc).
    Is this the correct way?
I tried these on two newly created dummy tables and it worked.

  • Dynamic report heading columns

    Hi
my report has 0-30, 31-60,61-90,......... as report heading ,it is given as boilerplate in paper layout , I want to make it as dynamic by select a list of days like 30,40,45,......etc , if I give 100 days
    it should come like  0-100,101-200,201-300, 301-365, above 365, total  that is if i give a date 31 dec 2013 , and 100 days  .
how to make the layout structure dynamic ...... pls help
    thanks in advance

Making Dynamic layout in the Forms / Reports tools is very difficult (unlike eg. ADF Framework).
One way to simulate the dynamic layout in the Reports is to have a generic columns (eg. column_1, column_2 ... etc.), but the number of generic columns must be greater or equal to the number of "real columns".
Another way is that you put all the "real columns" into one column, which must be well-formatted (with the correct number of blank characters, etc.).
As for the dynamic SQL query  in Reports, I think it is better to use the dynamic ref cursor, but the Reports lexical parameters.
In order to use dynamic ref cursors in Reports, you need a little trick. See this old thread:
Can we create report based on stored procedure
