Dynamically change single content

Hi
I learnt from Dreamweaver Missing Manual that the Spry data
set is used with lists of information like product catalogs. What
method do I choose in Dreamweaver for a single dynamic content? Are
there also automated methods like the Spry data set? Thanks for
your answers!

Frames would be the only way (or IFrames). There are *MANY*
disadvantages
to choosing this method, though - so much so that you rarely
ever see them
used any more except by people who don't know of them (or
don't understand
them). Why do you need to display several pages in a single
viewport?

  • Dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the other

    Hi Forum,
    I have a question which might have a possibly simple answer. Well anyway help me out since i could not find the simple answer.
    I am building an application using Swing and binding with BC4J using JClient. My GUI has combo boxes, grids, editboxes. My requirement is that i should be able to dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the selected item in trhe previous combo box. For example, when i choose a country in the "country combo box", the "states combo box" should show the list of the states of the selected country.
    Now how do i do this using binding. If not, how do i write custom querirs in BC4J layer and return a resultset to the remote application so theat i can populate the dependent combo boxes.
    I will appreciate if anyone can help me out in this regard.
    Thank You
    Sumit

    there could be quite a few number of ways of solving this problem.
    One way is through event handlers.
    taking your example as a model when user selects a country you could fire an action with a flag set to ture. A method will return the states from the DB or your temporary files or what ever and then the true flag will be used in the states combo box rendering.
    other way: javascript
    this might be a bit clumsy as you will need the states information in a property file and you can get the info as the user selects a country.

  • Dynamically changing single to multiselect in Table in OAF

    Hi,
    I am trying to programmaticallychange single selection to multiple selection of Table in Controler. From UI point of view everything is replaced correctly, but when I am trying to get values of selected rows ALWAYS only the first row is returned as selected (I think it is a default value of singleselection). I have also set rendered option to false for singleselection using personalisation page. Do you know what I am doing wrong or what I should check?
    The second issue is a dialog page. As I noticed the page context (table selection values) are lost when I am using confirmation page (dialog page with yes/no option). How should I pass page context to dialog page (table multiselection)?
    Controler Code:
        public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean) {
            super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
            OATableBean tableBean = (OATableBean)webBean;

    Hi,
    you can do this by surrounding the cell components (outputText, inputText, checkBox etc) with e.g. a panelLabelAndMessage component. Then on this component inlineStyle property use EL to reference a managed bean property. The managed bean property can now evaluate the check box select state. The trick part in your question is to tell upon rendering of the previous and next row that the check box in the row between has been selected. So you need to find a way to tell this. One option would be to apply logic like below
    JUCtrlHierNodeBinding currentRenderedAdfRow = ... use facesContext --> getApplication --> getExpressionFactory --> createValueExpression to create a handle to the #{row} expression
    Row rw = currentRenderedAdfRow.getRow();
    BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingEntries();
    DCIteratorBinding dciterator = (DCIteratorBinding ) bindings.get("Name of iterator used by table ");
    RowSetIterator rsIterator = dciterator .getRowSetIterator();
    Row prevRow = rsIterator.setCurrentRow(rw);
    int currRowIndex = rsIterator.getCurrentRowIndex();
    Row prevRow = getRowAtRangeIndex(currRowIndex-1);
    Row nextRow = getRowAtRangeIndex(currRowIndex-1);
    //return CSS that colors the background if the following conditions are true
    if ( ((DataType) rw.getAttribute("checkBoxAttr")) ||  ((DataType) prevRow .getAttribute("checkBoxAttr")) |  ((DataType) nextRow .getAttribute("checkBoxAttr"))){
      //color background returning CSS
    else{
      return empty string
    }I wrote this code from the top of my head, so ensure you check for null pointers (e.g. if a prev-row doesn't exist). Also consider caching of the calculation so that it doesn't need to be performed for each cell in a row but only once per row. E.g. you can save the color and the row key in a managed bean in view scope and then compare the key with this managed bean before performing the calculation

  • Dynamically changing the content of the block

    Hi,
    We have a requirement as below :
    The form contains two blocks. The main block contains a dropdown which will show a list of tables (like emp, dept..etc). When the user will select a particular table, the second block should show the columns of that particular table.
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Tandra

    Hi Francois,
    Thanks for the response.
    I searched "Steve Cosner post about dynamic form" and found a reply from Chirag Patel as below :
    IF you have one block and 100 items. then
    you can change at run time everyhting to bring data from un known table
    you can change block property "QUERY DATASOURCE NAME" , "WHERE clause", "Order by" also
    and also you can change item property "Column Name" at runtime
    in control block you can populate list item with all tables then
    write following code on when-list-changed trigger
    clear_block;
    1) make visible off if any item is visible.
    2) then change all block property which i mentioned above.
    3) then fetch all column from all_tab_columns and change clolumn name property and disply those items in that block.
    execute_query;
    and i think if you use form built-in packges then you can also bring data for BLOB and Long dynamically !!!
    However i am not clear about the third point.
    Could you please explain this in detail?
    Thanks,
    Tandra

  • Dynamically changing book index?

    I'm about to start work on a 200+ page manual that is still being edited and added to. I was wondering if there is a way to create a table of contents in which the page numbers dynamically change if content inside the book gets shifted or moved from one page to another.

    When you update a table of contents, this is automatic. Look up table of contents in Help.

  • Spry Tabbed panels + Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry

    Is there any way to combine tabbed panels together with "Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry"?
    Visit: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/progressive_enhancement.ht ml#updatecontent
    And click on the "Using Spry.Utils.updateContent()"
    The 3rd example shows how to use a fade transition whenever the content changes.
    I already have tabbed panels. My menu contains buttons (on tabs) and my Content div contains the panels.
    Tabs code;
    <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
              <li class="TabbedPanelsTab">
                   <table class="Button"  >
                        <tr>
                        <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home">
                        <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
                        </td>
                        </tr>
                   </table>
              </li>
    etc
    etc
    etc
    and the panel code:
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="Home">
         CONTENT
    </div>
    I hoped i can use the example code from the link into my tabbed panels.
    I thought this code:
    onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;"
    could be added to the tab code like this:
    <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
    But the content doesnt fade...
    I know i need to change the header etc.
    The following is from the link:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Aquo Events</title>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function FadeAndUpdateContent(ele, url)
    try {
         Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 100, to: 0, finish: function() {
              Spry.Utils.updateContent(ele, url, function() {
                        Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 0, to: 100 });
    }catch(e){ alert(e); }
    -->
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* IE HACK to prevent bad rendering when fading. */
    #event { background-color: white; }
    </style>
    </head>
    So i changed my header etc, put the SpryEffects.js and SpryData.js into position and nothing changed...
    Is there a way to keep my tabbed panel (or change as less as possible) and let
    A. The fade work
    B. The loading work.
    The problem now is that it loads all pages instead of only the home. Therefore i wanted this Progressive Enhancement.
    And the fading part is just because its nice...

    It doesnt show in the post but off course i changed this link;
    "data/AquoThonFrag.html"
    into;
    "javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);"
    I must say i dont know if this even works...

  • How to dynamically change the text of a TextObject with embedded DataField?

    Hi
    I'm trying to dynamically change the text of a TextObject at runtime, by using the .NET library. My problem is that if one or more DatabaseFieldDefinition is embedded inside my text, I'm unable to change the "static text" only, by keeping the field, e.g. I have :
    Text1 => "Contact Name: {Contact.Name}"
    and I'd like to change it to anything else like:
    Text1 => "Nom du Contact: {Contact.Name}"
    Half of my TextObject is static text while second part comes from the dataset.
    (of course the translation is dynamic - it is called at run-time and the new value to be set depends on the calling application language)
    If I simply modify the Text property of my TextObject, the {Contact.Name} embedded field is not evaluated anymore by the Crystal Engine, but considered as a single text.
    Using formulas or parameters looks quite difficult, because it means having many ones just for translation needs - I cannot control the way my users will create their reports and "force them" to use complex methods just in order to put a text and a value together...
    Anyone knows how to deal with that ?

    Only way I can think of doing this:
    1) Create a formula (call it lang) and enter the string "Contact Name" in it
    2) Place the  {Contact.Name} field next to the string
    3) So now you have:
    ContactName:  {Contact.Name}
    4) Check what localization you are after. If you need "Nom du Contact", change the lang formula so it shows "Nom du Contact" using the code below:
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Public Class Form1
    Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form
    Dim Report As New CrystalReport1()
    Dim FormulaFields As FormulaFieldDefinitions
    Dim FormulaField As FormulaFieldDefinition
    Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
    FormulaFields = Report.DataDefinition.FormulaFields
    FormulaField = FormulaFields.Item(0)
    FormulaField.Text = "[formula text]"
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = Report
    End Sub
    I realize this may not give you consistent spacing as the translations may have strings of differnt length. Perhaps someone has other idea(s)...

    On my local: Windows 7 OS
    I am having a difficult time in doing the following in forms, and not sure if it can be done?
    I have a multi row block,based on DB table, which displays filename and another column from the table.
    It also has a push button on each row, which opens and displays the physical file from its source, when clicked. The filename thus can have 3 diff statuses depending on its sources and accordingly corresponding button should display appropriate label:
    a) View Image (its is in content server and successfully imaged. In this case I display the file in the browser, from the content server, when the button is clicked)
    b) View File (Display the file from file system)
    c) View Error (Display imaging error message from the table, as file failed to make it to the imaging server)
    I have this logic currently coded in the post query trigger, at the block level, and tried using set_item_property(button_id, label, <button_lable>), where I programmatically set the button lable, based on the file status (imaged, not imaged or has error) in that row. This wroks well, only if all the files in the multi row block have the same status. If each of them have diff statuses, then only last processed files's status gets reflected into the button label. For eg: The file in the first row of the block is imaged, and one in the second row has an imaging error. The button label for the first row should say 'View Image' and button for the second row should say 'View Error'. But now buttons for both the rows display 'View Error', as thats what got processed last!
    I __can not use set_item_instance property for 'label'__ (which lets us dynamically change the label on the push buttons).
    Is there any way to do this for ORacle forms? I am now playing with having 3 diff button items in that block, laying them on top of each other and showing only those that are appropriate and hiding the others... But I am not sure it is going to give me what I need? I think I am going to end up facing the same issues as in above case!!
    Any expert advice is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance for your time:

    <p>I have just updated this existing PJC, that was originally constructed to handle Text Fields. You can, now, also handle buttons with it.
    Set the Button's Implementation Class property to : oracle.forms.fd.MultiButton.
    </p>
    This is the code you have to put one triggers of your based block:

  • Dynamically changing the flatfile name..

    Hi friends,
    I 'm Getting data from 30 Flat files...all are with same structure but different data.. .. all these files are now in Application server...
    now i want to upload data into with a single DataSource and to ODS with process chains..
    so, how can i dynamically change the file name in Data Source level.. i saw previous threads.. in that.. through Routines.. we can solve this problem.. but I dont know ABAP code... so, can any one plz give me the exact code.. what i have to write...exact coding..
    <b>
           I already post this question in forums.... but evry one gave different options.. some  one gave the function module..
    BAPI_IPACK_CHANGE    and BAPI_IPACK_START.
      and some one gave  other function module.. like .. EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
    i tryd for All these options.. but i'm not getting the exact solution... even i'm unable to pass the parameters also.. beacuse.. in that function what parameters can i pass....</b>
    can u plz suggest me the solution..
    Thanks

    Hi  Friends,
      for the above requirement i had write the bellow coding in the routine.. it is working.. but the problem is.. it was loading  only  the last file..(30 th file  data only..)
    data : z1(50) type c,
             z2 type c,
             z3(50) type c,
             z4(50) type c.
             Z2 = 1.
       Do 5 times.
              z1 = 'C:\Documents and Settings\e10035\Desktop\'.
              z3 = '.csv'.
              concatenate z1 z2 z3 into z4.
              p_filename = z4.
              z2 = z2 + 1.
        Enddo.
    SO, CAN YOU PLZ SUGGEST ME.. when ever the file name was changing in the loop.. that automatically should load into the  PSA ..

  • Displaying dynamically changing image: a problem with JLabel.

    Hello! I use NetBeans 5.5 and I develop my GUI with Matisse. I'm rather a beginner in developing GUIs with this editor...
    I'd like to display a dynamically changing image. The idea is: GUI shows the image, that is modified as some computations run in a different thread. App will be run on a single machine.
    I'm trying to display the image as a label's icon. The problem is that my app's frame can be resized - and when it is, the label also resizes. When the label is resized, the image should also be resized - the image should always be of the same size as the label. The problem? I noticed, that it works only when I make my app's bigger. When I try to lower its dimensions, the label's dimensions remain the same. Why the label don't make its size smaller?
    My code works as follows: when app's main frame is resize, the panel (the one, that the label is placed in) is also resized. And, since the label is in the panel, it (should) also be resized. So I wrote all the resize-events handlers (therefore I know that the resize event is sent when my app's frame is resized, and when the panel is resized - but the label is resized only when it grows bigger). In this methods I modify the image displayed in the label (I resize the image).
    Or, perhaps, there is some other way to show a (dynamically changing) image with Swing... I chose JLabel, because I didn't want to write my own JComponent. JLabel can display image and that is all I need. The problem is: when the label grows bigger, I create a new, bigger image (icon). Why my label don't get smaller (the resize event isn't even sent)?

    There is no component that dynamically resizes an image. You need to create your own. Something like this:
    JComponent component = new JComponent()
         protected void paintComponent(Graphics g)
              //  Scale image to size of component
              g.drawImage(yourImage, 0, 0, getWidth(), getHeight(), null);
    };

  • Dynamic change of PropFlags_IncludeInReport doesn't change data in XML report

    Hi,
    I have tried to change the contents of my XML report generated in TS3.1 by changing the PropFlags_IncludeInReport. This works for some simple data types like numericteststep where I have removed the limits and step result from the report if the step pass. This is done from LV7.1 where I have created a reference to the step properties and then changed the flag with the GetFlag Property and SetFlag Property. I have posted a HTML (easier to open remote) example “MIGAExcludePassStepLimitsFromHTML.html” & a picture that shows the step structure “NumTestStepStructure.jpg”.
    But it doesn’t work when my data type is getting more complicated. See CustomTestStepStructure.jpg. In this case it’s an array of containers (measurement - custom data type) that contains some containers (limits and channel – custom data type). I have removed the PropFlags_IncludeInReport on all the custom data types (in the top of the tree) except on some of the items in the last type in the tree (Status, Read.Voltage_V, Limits.Voltage_High_V, Limits.Voltage_Low_V…).
    The XML style sheets doesn’t show my data when I remove the PropFlags_IncludeInReport of the Measurement Array (if it’s on all the sub-properties are shown. Not wanted because off the size). I assume it’s a bug (shows data in HTML) if some data in the structure has this flag enabled?
    I can see in the source of the XML report that the flags are added to each property. These flags have the correct value from the custom data type, but the style sheets can’t show them correctly. It’s possible that NI will make a fix to this problem?
    I have also tried to change the PropFlags_IncludeInReport on my custom step properties from LV7.1 like above. But my changes of the flags dynamically aren’t included in my XML report (new flags aren’t added to each property). Why? Is it because of the data type? Is it because I do it in a Post Step? Is there a solution?
    I am looking forward to hear from you,
    Best Regards,
    Morten Pedersen

    Hi,
    I have posted some sequences for you. Extract to C:\. The only difference in these seq-files is the PropFlags_IncludeInReport flag for the Result.Measurement property in the custom step type called MIGA_DCPower_HM7044.
    Try to run the sequences. With XML report enabled. In the beginning of the CimHamegTest_MainTestSequence there are some numeric limit test step that in the run code enables or disables, with the SetFlag Method, the result, limits and comp depending on the test pass or fail. Works fine.
    But there are problems in my custom step types that are executed after. The different sequence files shows the first problem. If the Flag mentioned in the top is disabled no sub data is include besides their flags is set to IncludeInReport. In the source code of the XML the flags are correct, but the stylesheet can’t show them.
    The second problem is when I tried to change the flag dynamically. This is done in a post step for the custom step type called MIGA_DCPower_HM7044. This vi disables all the low voltage limits. I use for e.g. this look up string for that: Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.Voltage_Low_V. These changes aren’t included in my report. Both the HTML and XML would not show or change it.
    I hope this will show you the problems and hopefully help me.
    Best regards,
    Morten Pedersen

  • How do i dynamically reference the contents of an item in a where clause

    I have a select statement that references an item i.e. 'where sysdate=:diary.day1' at the moment, however i want to use this select to loop through every day of the week, so on the fist record it will change depending on where you are in the loop either 'where sysdate=:diary.day1' or 'where sysdate=:diary.day2' etc. I tried using a variable for this but it just uses the characters ':diary.day1' and not the contents of this item.

    Not sure what you want but dynamic reference the content of an item may be done with NAME_IN builtin.
    WHERE sysdate = TO_DATE( NAME_IN(var), 'fmt')
    where var is a variable which contain item name, for example 'DAIRY.DAY1'
    P.S. SYSDATE function contain not only date but time portion too.
    So very little chances that this equation will be true

  • Table Control BDC to CHANGE the contents problem

    Hi,
    I am having a problem in BDC. The screen is having a table control and I want to change the contents depending on certain conditions.
    This BDC is not to upload the data but to change already existing data.
    How can I dynamically know the contents of the screen or contents or the row so that I can select the correct row to be changed?

    Hi,
    No its not like that.
    Suppose I want to update/change sheduling agreements <b>not upload</b>
    I will be calling the transaction which will list the scheduling lines in a table control. The order of the lines in table control will be as per logic of SAP's Application program.
    Now when I read the file and how will I dynamically know the exact line which should get selected.
    Say my internal table is having the data to be changed but I can not determine the exact ordering of the records as per table control.
    Hence I am facing the problem to know the exact ordering of table control
