Dynamically choosing source datastore column from variable

Hi Everybody.
I have a source table which contains 12 columns - one for each month of data. I want to load the columns as rows in the target table. For example:
Source Table:
ACCNO M01 M02 M03 M04 M05 M06 M07 M08 M09 M10 M11 M12
00001 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12
00002 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24
Target Table:

I am thinking of constructing a package that will loop 12 times - in each iteration it will change the interface mapping column to the desired one.
Seeking your wise suggestions and solutions.

    Yes, Its possible with one interface and varable datastore ( Datastore neame should be variable )
    Logic :-
    Create datastore with varible name (if the table structure is same .
    then use this DataStore in interface. refresh/assign the value to ur variable ( table name / datastore name)
    Then call ur interface.
    Also u can use the Looping concept of ODI to loop 3 times .

    We are using Oracle 10g Application server (Forms and Report Services), Forms and Report., our most urgent requirement is End User have to build the required reports by him Like wizards style, (Example Adhoc, MIS reports)., More clear, from the form we want to show all the tables structures, queries, after that end user will choose some columns from the form and specified the condition by himself to run the report after that he will press start button , then automatically report has build for the selected columns from the end user., and this report is parmanent afterwords., he can use any time.
    Like this kind of report building is possiable , anyone has faced same situation.

    Yes it is.
    In BW, this can be achieved by using document management. The option will be available to the user via context menu in the report (goto-->documents - text/pdf/img etc). In your case user can choose to create/change/display a 'text' document, which will be attached to the report.

    We have a Source as oracle table to the target Hyperion Essbase Cube(Planning) 11.1.2 using ODI 11g.
    Right now my issue is We need to map multiple columns from Oracle DB to One Dimension in Essbase (Planning).
    For example -> * In Oracle table i have columns as Name,Volume,unit and item *
    In Essbase the dimension called "*CatDefinition has lower level members as Name,Volume,unit and item * "
    Now using ODI ,* I want to map the oracle table columns(Multiple) to the dimension(Catdefinition) ? * Please suggest me with idea to achieve multiple column mapping to the single dimension in Essbase .

    Do you even need FDM? You could build a load rule in Essbase directly. If you need to map, then you would register the Essbase target adapter.

  • Combine CSV columns from multiple sources into one

    Hi, 
    I am trying to import column from one CSV file and output it into additional columns on a Get-MailboxStatistics | Export-CSV command. The issue with the script I have created is that when use an Expression to create the new column it outputs all of the items
    in the column from the import CSV into one row. See script below, I have highlighted the expressions that are not working.

    There's a lot wrong with this script:
    1.  You're importing the same file 3x; you should import one and reference the things you need out of it.
    2.  If the CSV has more than one row in it, your .notation you're using to access the MailSizeMaster, MailSizeRefresh, and Alias properties is used incorrectly.  If you are trying to reference each of those properties from an array of different entries,
    the proper way would be:
    $Import = @(Import-Csv C:\usermigration.csv)
    $MailSizeMaster = $Import | Select-Object MailSizeMaster
    OR
    $MailSizeMaster = $Import | Select-Object -Expand MailSizeMaster
    ...the "OR" is not PowerShell. 
    3.  I don't know if you can concatenate different objects with the select-object cmdlet like you are.  However, what you could do is create a custom object to load the values into and then output that object:

  • Dynamic XML Source to a Fixed Target Table

    Hi gurus,
    Please help me on this one, I've been trying to work it around for 2 weeks now, and unfortunately, I can't think of any solutions anymore.
    So here is the case:
    I'm using ODI 11g and I'm loading XML files to Oracle Tables.
    But in this case I have a dynamic XML file (number of columns varies, depends on the user input) as the source and I have to load it into a fixed Target Table.
    Example:
    XML SOURCE FILE (dynamic number of columns):
    Column_A1 | Column_B1 | Column_C1 | Column_A2 | Column_B2 | Column_C3 | Column_A3 | Column_B3 | Column_C3 | | **
    **means I don't have idea how many columns in one XML would be. It can be 6 columns, 9 columns, 3 columns. I do reverse engineer to get the latest XML structure.*
    FIXED TARGET OUTPUT TABLE (3 columns only):
    Column_A1 | Column_B1 | Column_C1
    Column_A2 | Column_B2 | Column_C2
    Column_A3 | Column_B3 | Column_C3
    ** | * | **
    --END OF EXAMPLE*
    So what I want to happen is that, everytime ODI detects that it is already the 4th column, 4th - 6th columns would append to the next row and 7th-9th would append to the next row, and goes on and goes on.
    What do you think is the best way to do this? Or if there is any way?
    Please please help me, it would be of great great help to the project I'm working.
    If there's no way, I'm thinking of creating a PL/SQL within a KM for this one.

    What is the minimum number of columns from source side..if the minimum number of column will be 3 then my logic may work.
    Please confirm.
    Because in case of odi reverse, odi will add the extra column to the datastore. If initially the souurce file has 3 columns then the target datastore will 3. In next reverse if the source file has 5 column then in the next reverse it will add 2 more column to the datastore. Again nexttime if the source file has 2 column ODI is not going remove/drop these 3 extra column.

    How do I use the Derived Table functionality to dynamically choose a fact table?
    I am using BO XI R2 querying against Genesys Datamart kept in Oracle 10g.  The datamart contains aggregated fact tables at different levels (no_agg, hour, day, week, etc...) I would like to build my universe so that if the end user chooses a parameter to view reports at daily granularity, then the daily fact table is used;  choose hourly granularity, then hourly fact table is used, etc....
    I tried using dynamic SQL in Oracle Syntax, but Business Obljects Universe didn't like that type of coding.
    The tables look something like this:
    O_LOB1_NO_AGG o
    inner join V_LOB1_NO_AGG v on o.object_id = v.object_id
    inner join T_LOB1_NO_AGG t on v.timekey = t.timekey
    Likewise, in the 'hour', 'day', 'week', etc... fact tables, the Primary Key to Foreign Key names and relationships are the same.  And the columns in each O_, V_, T_ fact table is the same, or very similar (just aggregated at different levels of time).
    I was thinking of going a different route and using aggregate aware; but there are many Lines of Business (20+) and multiple time dimensions (7) and I believe aggregate aware would require me to place all relevant tables in the Universe as separate objects, which would create a large Universe with multiple table objects,  and not be maintenance-friendly. I also was going to dynamically choose Line of Business (LOB) in the derived tables, based on the end user choosing a parameter for LOB, but that is out-of-scope for my current question.  But that information sort of points you down the train of thought I am travelling. Thanks for any help you can provide!

    You can create a derived table containing a union like the following:
    select a,b,c from DailyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Daily' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>)
    union
    (select a,b,c from MonthlyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Monthly' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>))
    union
    (select a,b,c from YearlyFacts where (@prompt('View'....) = 'Yearly' and (<rest of your where conditions here if necessary>))
    I assume that you are familiar with the @prompt syntax

  • How can we use C# to read dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt?

    I'm using Cystal Report 2008. We know starting from CR XI we can create dynamic parameters, the list of items of this kind of parameter are fetching from database. So in general the SQLs to get the list of values for dynamic parameters are stored in the .rpt.
    In Crystal Report Designer, if I preview a report with dynamic parameters, it will first query the database and then show the input dialog with list of values from database for user to choose. My question is can we implement the same thing by our C# code? I'm planning to use C# code to read this dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt and render them on the web page. Then pass back the user selected values to the .rpt to run the report after user make the choice. I didn't find any APIs can do this. Is it possible?

  • Interface without a source datastore

    I have to transform Data from a DBView into an XML (based on an XML schema). On reverse-engineering the XML schema, it generated 4 data stores. For successful generation of an XML file based on this schema, these data stores should be populated.
    Of the 4 datastores, I was able to populate one of them using the data from the view. But, in the remaining data stores, there is no source datastore. So, I tried populating the data by hard-coding some values (using Variables in ODI)
    So, is it possible to execute an interface w/o a source data store? If possible, how? (I tried hard-coding the fields using ODI Variables. It did not work!! )
    If not possible, how do I populate the remaining datastores generated by the XML schema?

    specified. Make sure the data source(or the name of the ODBC driver you

  • Problem creating a datablock with columns from 2 tables...

    Hello guys, i have a problem in creating a datablock with columns from 2 different tables. I try to create the datalock manually and in the Query Data Source Type Property i choose FROM clause query, and in the query data source name property i type my sql statement with the columns i want to display.After that i place the items that the datablock will contain , manually from the painter. However , when i run the application, the datablock doesn't display the items from the database. Am i doing something wrong?

    Never mind Peter, I found the error. I forgot to make execute_query for the datablock, so this was the reason why the items weren't displayed to me.

    I'm looking for suggestions on how to create an output file (fixed width and comma delimited) from a SELECT that is dynamically built. Basically, I've got some tables that are used to define the SELECT and to describe the output format. For instance, one table has the SELECT while another is used to defined the column "formats" (e.g., Column Order, Justification, FormatMask, Default value, min length, ...). The user has an app that they can use to customize the output...which leaving the gathering of the data untouched. I'm trying to keep this formatting and/or default logic out of the actual query. This lead me into a problem.
    Example query :
    SELECT CONTRACT_ID,PV_ID,START_DATE
    FROM CONTRACT
    WHERE CONTRACT_ID = <<value>>Customization Table:
    CONTRACT_ID : 2,Numeric,Right
    PV_ID : 1,Numeric,Mask(0000)
    START_DATE : 3,Date,Mask(mm/dd/yyyy)The first value is the kicker (ColumnOrder) as well as the fact that the number of columns is dynamic. Technically, if I could use SqlPlus...then I could just use SPOOL. However, I'm not.
    So basically, I'm trying to build a generic routine that can take a SQL string execute the SELECT and map the output using data from another table to a file.
    Any suggestions?

    You could build the select statement within PL/SQL and open it using a cursor variable. You could write it to a file using the package 'UTL_FILE'. If you want to display the output using SQL*Plus, you could have an out parameter as a ref cursor.

  • How to clone data with in Table with dynamic 'n' number of columns

    I've a table with syntax,
    create table Temp (id number primary key, name varchar2(10), partner varchar2(10), info varchar2(20));
    And with data like
    insert itno temp values (sequence.nextval, 'test', 'p1', 'info for p1');
    insert into temp values (sequence.nextval, 'test', 'p2', 'info for p2');
    And now, i need to clone the data in TEMP table of name 'test' for new name 'test1' and here is my script,
    insert into Temp  select sequence.nextval id, 'test1' name, partner, info from TEMP where name='test1';
    this query executed successfully and able to insert records.
    The PROBLEM is,
    if some new columns added in TEMP table, need to update this query.
    How to clone the data with in the table for *'n' number of columns and*
    some columns with dynamic data and remaining columns as source data.

    My Scenario, is we have a Game Details table. When ever some Game get cloned, we need to add new records in to that Table for the new Game.
    As, the id will be primary key, this should populate from a Sequence (in our system, we used this) and Game Name will be new Game Name. And data for other columns should be same as Parent Game.
    when ever business needs changes, there will be some addition of new columns in Table.
    And with the existing query,
    insert into Temp (id, name, partner, info) select sequence.nextval id, 'test1' name, partner, info from TEMP where name='test'_
    will successfully add new rows but new added columns will have empty data.
    so, is there any way to do this, i mean, some columns with sequence values and other columns with existing values.
    One way, we can do is, get ResultSet MetaData (i'm using Java), and parse the columns. prepare a query in required format.
    I'm looking for alternative ways in query format in SQL.

    We are converting binary data of excel from application server into internal table but currently we created two XSLT transformation to achieve this one for deleting name space and other for converting data into internal table format.
    We want to make our source code for future use also,Is there anyway to generate XSLT source code dynamically?Above mentioned code is snippet of data extracting which we are doing but this transformation is hard coded.
    Any help is appreciated.

    That error usually means it is still mapped, maybe it is used in another interface if you say the mapping has definitely been removed.
    You can expand the datastore > Used In > "As a Target" or "As a Source" or "In a Package" - that should tell you if it being used anywhere else.
