Dynamically set itemRenderer content width

Hey all,
thanks for taking time to look at this. what I'm trying to do
is simple, I think, but evading me. I've got a datagrid set to 100%
width. I've got a total of 7 columns, the first 2 are fixed width.
The remaining 5 columns (and their contents, importantly), should
dynamically size to take up the remaining area. I'm using
comboboxes within these columns, and can't seem to set the width of
these comboboxes based on the width of the column they appear
within. I've tried just setting them to 100%, but that causes a
scrolltrack to appear and the combobox is hidden behind the
scrolltrack.
help is greatly appreciated

Are you using a drop in, inline, or custom component for an
itemRenderer? I do not think you can do this with a drop in item
renderer. I think you can do it using an inline itemRenderer but
this is not an ideal solution. I think that if you use a custom
component as the item renderer you could use databinding on the
width of the combo box where the data grid column of the data used
is the source.
ie. comboBox width="{columnx.width}" where columnx
corresponds to the column housing the combobox.

  • Reports 9.0.2. How to dynamically set graphic/chart width in paper layout?

    Hi there,
    I have a graphic with vertical bars in paper layout. Its width ranges from quarter of a A4 page width to several ones spanned. I have made the page width large enough but can not control the graphic width dynamically and when too much data must be shown on the X axis the bars get too thick to read.
    Is there another way except of?:
    - making the graph middle-sized and hoping that the client will not notice the visual glitch when too much or less data is the case;
    - using JSP (this is not an option here).
    To make the things worse, when the graph is expanded beyond a A4 page width or something its border reflects the change, but its contents is ugly shrunk.
    As I browsed this forum, I got convinced that the only way to get the graph under control at some extend is to use JSP web report.
    Anyone with experience on this? 10x in advance folks.

  • Dynamically setting column width doesn't work all the time

    I wanted to dynamically set the width of a column in a JTable to be half of the width of a another column. This should happen whenever the frame is resized. But somehow I need to tell this twice to Java. If I don't then sometimes the column width isn't set new.
    Is this a Java bug or what?
    public void componentResized(ComponentEvent ce)
         try
              ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMaxWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
              ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMinWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
              // Again, or it won't work:
              ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMaxWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
              ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMinWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
         catch(SQLException e)
    }

    Is it possible that your call to
    ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMinWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
    is altering the response created by
    ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(5)).setMaxWidth(ref.table.getColumn(ref.rsmd.getColumnLabel(1)).getWidth() / 2);
    ? Have you tried calling them once but in the other order? Or just calling the "setMaxWidth" call twice and leaving out the second "setMinWidth"?
    Good luck... :)

  • Spry Tabbed panels + Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry

    Is there any way to combine tabbed panels together with "Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry"?
    Visit: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/progressive_enhancement.ht ml#updatecontent
    And click on the "Using Spry.Utils.updateContent()"
    The 3rd example shows how to use a fade transition whenever the content changes.
    I already have tabbed panels. My menu contains buttons (on tabs) and my Content div contains the panels.
    Tabs code;
    <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
              <li class="TabbedPanelsTab">
                   <table class="Button"  >
                        <tr>
                        <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home">
                        <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
                        </td>
                        </tr>
                   </table>
              </li>
    etc
    etc
    etc
    and the panel code:
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="Home">
         CONTENT
    </div>
    I hoped i can use the example code from the link into my tabbed panels.
    I thought this code:
    onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;"
    could be added to the tab code like this:
    <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
    But the content doesnt fade...
    I know i need to change the header etc.
    The following is from the link:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Aquo Events</title>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function FadeAndUpdateContent(ele, url)
    try {
         Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 100, to: 0, finish: function() {
              Spry.Utils.updateContent(ele, url, function() {
                        Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 0, to: 100 });
    }catch(e){ alert(e); }
    -->
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* IE HACK to prevent bad rendering when fading. */
    #event { background-color: white; }
    </style>
    </head>
    So i changed my header etc, put the SpryEffects.js and SpryData.js into position and nothing changed...
    Is there a way to keep my tabbed panel (or change as less as possible) and let
    A. The fade work
    B. The loading work.
    The problem now is that it loads all pages instead of only the home. Therefore i wanted this Progressive Enhancement.
    And the fading part is just because its nice...

    It doesnt show in the post but off course i changed this link;
    "data/AquoThonFrag.html"
    into;
    "javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);"
    I must say i dont know if this even works...

  • Dynamically setting field attributes based on input

    Hi all,

  • Setting html content with setContent() does never show images

    I've an application set sets dynamically generated html-content in a webview node by using the webengine.setContent() method. This generated html content uses image-tags.
    Here's the problem: the image is not displayed. I tried all variations (absolute url like "http://localhost/c:/test.png" or "file://c:/test.png", relative urls like "test.png" with png in jar-file).
    Anyone out there who has a workaround for me? I appreciate any comment.

    one non-working apple <img src="apple.png"> You loaded the page content with loadcontent, then inside the page content provided a relative url. This is likely an error.
    The question is, what is this url relative to?
    The answer is either likely undefined as no protocol was used to load the page content and so it can't be determined how to load the relative url resource.
    and two non-working peaches <img src="http://localhost/c:/peaches.png">
    You attempted to load content using the http protocol server on the localhost, but you have no such server on the host, so this cannot work.
    and a working remote image url <img src="http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/javafx/images/javafx-documentation.png">
    This works because you fully specified how to load the content by providing the protocol and valid resource reference.
    OK, so the question remains how do you images from the local drive?
    There are three options for this in the following code.
    package org.jewelsea.examples.webviewlocal;
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.beans.value.*;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.layout.FlowPane;

    public class WebViewLocal extends Application {
      public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    //    URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory(new HandlerFactory());
        launch(args);
      public void start(final Stage stage) throws Exception {
        final FlowPane layout = new FlowPane();
        WebView webView = new WebView();

    //    webView.getEngine().load("resource:///org/jewelsea/examples/webviewlocal/timeforgotten.html");
        webView.getEngine().getLoadWorker().exceptionProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<Throwable>() {
          @Override public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends Throwable> observableValue, Throwable oldThrowable, Throwable newThrowable) {
            System.out.println("Load exception: " + newThrowable);
        // layout the scene.
        layout.getChildren().addAll(webView);
        Scene scene = new Scene(layout, 1000, 600);
        webView.prefWidthProperty().bind(scene.widthProperty());
        webView.prefHeightProperty().bind(scene.heightProperty());
        stage.setScene(scene);
        stage.show();
    }which loads the following html file:
    <html>
    <head>
      <style type="text/css">p { color: sienna; font-size: 20px; text-align: center; }</style>
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="cornsilk">
    <p><em>
        <br/>
        On either side the river lie,<br/>
        Long fields of barley and of rye,<br/>
        And through the fields a road runs by,<br/>
        To many towered Camelot.
    </em></p>
    <p><img src="camelot.jpg"/></p>
    </body>
    </html>If you want to test this example the camelot.jpg image is downloadable from http://www.timelessmyths.com/arthurian/gallery/camelot.jpg.
    Option 1: The file:// protocol for lookup from the filesystem.
    This is the most straight-forward as it is just based on standard html layout in the filesystem - just place your html and it's relative referenced images somewhere in your filesystem in locations relative to each other - if your browser loads it properly, then your webengine will to if you give it the right file:// path.
    In the case of file:///C:\\dev\\gettingstarted\\timeforgotten.html, timeforgotten.html is placed in c:\dev\gettingstarted and camelot.jpg image is placed in the same directory.
    Option 2: The jar:file:// protocol for lookup from a jar hosted on the filesystem.
    This makes use of the http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/net/JarURLConnection.html to find your resources.
    If your application resources are packaged in a jar file (could be the same jar file as your main application class) then you can reference the jar file through the file protocol, then pick out the resources packaged in the jar file via their relative paths.
    Option 3: The resource:// protocol for lookup based on the classpath.
    This type of resource lookup is the one most Java programmers are familiar with - a classloader is used to load a resource. The pattern is widely used in web application frameworks on the server. But usually the means to do this is via a classloader.getResource() call, not via a URL.
    Java does not, by default, have a URL protocol handler for looking up resources on the classpath, so if you want to do this, it is necessary to create your own protocol and install it.
    The installation function is the commented out line: // URL.setURLStreamHandlerFactory(new HandlerFactory());
    It is a system wide call for the VM and should be called (just once) before any URL Connections are established.
    To get this to work I used a resource handler from http://www.arakhne.org/arakhneVmutils/index.html which included the following classes:
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.resource.Handler
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.resource.HandlerFactory
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.resource.URLConnection
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.ClassLoaderFinder
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.Resources
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.ResourceNotFoundException
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.URISchemeType
      java.org.arakhne.vmutil.URLHandlerUtilDetails on how all this works are in http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/protocolhandlers/ which defines "A New Era for Java Protocol Handlers" by defining a URL handler extension mechanism which is hardly ever used.
    As a final note to my way overly long forum post, when the WebEngine doesn't process the urls sometimes you can get info on what went wrong via the monitoring the loadWorker's exception property, but sometimes I was able to get more complete stack traces by trying to open a connection on a URL to see if I had got the URL correct - for example:
        URL url = new URL("jar:file:///C:\\dev\\javafx\\JavaFXidea\\out\\artifacts\\JavaFXidea_jar!/org/jewelsea/examples/webviewlocal/timeforgotten.html");
        url.openConnection();Anyway, just using the file:// protocol in webEngine.load() will probably accomplish what you need.
    Note that if it is a webstart or browser embedded app, then you'll need to sign it if you want to access the local file system.

  • Dynamic setting of line count and footer in classical report

    Hi all,
    In classical report,we can set line count and footer at the beginning of the report  as Line-count 6(2), here out of 6 lines 4 lines is for content and 2 lines is for footer (assume no standard heading), but if my report produces less content than 4 say 3 at run time ,then footer will not be displayed .Here again i have to set line count and footer as 5(2) in order to get the footer to be displayed ,so How can i achieve dynamic setting of the line count and footer,
    Thanks,
    Avinash

    Use RESERVE,
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    RESERVE 6 LINES.           "at the last of your code
    This will trigger a page-break & footer will be displayed.

    Check what Anzy has to say in [here|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18635339&messageID=3289078]:
    "You have to go to specific view , which will be embedded in the pop up window.In the view go to ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER and set the width and height.This way you can restrict the size of the pop up window."
    This is [another approach|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18635339&messageID=5836334] suggested by Abhimanyu Lagishetty for dynamically setting the size of your window:
    "Pass the URL like this to the create_external_window

    Instead of http://google.co.in write your URL it will maximize the window"

  • Dynamically set flash chart height?

    Hi,
    I have a flash chart that includes a selector that alters the query for the chart. Depending on what the user selects, the chart shows a different number of rows (this happens to be a stacked horizontal bar chart, but this could apply to any chart type). I would like to be able to dynamically set the chart height based on the number of rows the query returns. If I set it too small and the user makes a choice that returns a larger number of rows, the chart bars are compressed to the point where the labels are unreadable or omitted altogether. Conversely, if I set the height to a larger value and the user makes a selection that results in a small number of rows, the chart is overly extended and hard to read.
    I am able to calculate what I'd like the chart height to be using a page item and a before header process. But I can't figure out how to pass this value to AnyChart. I tried using an item substitution (e.g., &P7_CHART_HEIGHT.) as the value for the chart height on the Chart Attributes/Chart Settings page, but this attribute requires a non-zero numeric value. I tried to figure out if I could alter the chart XML, but could not figure out how to do it and I'm not sure item substitutions would be passed in the XML anyway.
    Is there a way to dynamically set the height attribute of a chart at page load time?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    You can update the Region Source of your chart, replacing the substitution strings *#HEIGHT#* with the reference to your page item *&P7_CHART_HEIGHT.*. So your chart region source should then look something like the following(note that I've trimmed some lines for display purposes), and when the chart is run it will pick up your setting for the height, based upon the value returned from your Before Header process:
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"

  • Dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the other

    Hi Forum,
    I have a question which might have a possibly simple answer. Well anyway help me out since i could not find the simple answer.
    I am building an application using Swing and binding with BC4J using JClient. My GUI has combo boxes, grids, editboxes. My requirement is that i should be able to dynamically change the contents of one combo box based on the selected item in trhe previous combo box. For example, when i choose a country in the "country combo box", the "states combo box" should show the list of the states of the selected country.
    Now how do i do this using binding. If not, how do i write custom querirs in BC4J layer and return a resultset to the remote application so theat i can populate the dependent combo boxes.
    I will appreciate if anyone can help me out in this regard.
    Thank You
    Sumit

    there could be quite a few number of ways of solving this problem.
    One way is through event handlers.
    taking your example as a model when user selects a country you could fire an action with a flag set to ture. A method will return the states from the DB or your temporary files or what ever and then the true flag will be used in the states combo box rendering.
    other way: javascript
    this might be a bit clumsy as you will need the states information in a property file and you can get the info as the user selects a country.

    or is this a screen size issue for the visitors to my website?

    There's a dfference between the way the iPhone browser displays a webpage and chosing the iPhone agent in the Developer menu.
    The iPhone simulator shows the webpages as it is in the iPhone. You can rotate the iPhone, click content to zoom. display movies, etc.
    The useragent simply tells the server that the client is an iPhone and the server will display other sets of pages.
    For the MSIE simpaticos : Using the MSIE agent allows you to display MSIE-only webpages. You simply fool the server.
    Anyway, here are two sample websites for the iPhone.

    Change the useragent to iPhone and you'll see the changes.

  • Setting different pages widths in different sections - Pages 5.2

    In Pages 5.2, how does one set different page widths (margins) in different sections?

    You can't. Margins apply to the entire document.
    What you can do is set the margins to their max width and then use left and right indents for the sections you want narrower.

  • Dynamically set Tab current pages

    Here’s a quick summary of the situation I’ve got.
    Let’s say I have an application with 4 report pages. Three display some data about rows in my database. All 3 contain the column ‘Control #’ which is linked to the 4th report which displays more detailed information about that Control # object.
    When I click on the Control # link and go to the 4th report, I would like the Tabs current for the 4th report to match the Tabs current of the page I came from. In other words, if I clicked on the Control # link on page 1, I would like the 4th pages current tabs to match page 1’s current tabs. The same goes for pages 2 and 3.
    I’ve tried &(some global variable). and :(some global variable) and v(‘some global variable’) in the Tabs current pages fields but that doesn’t work.
    Is it possible to do what I’m trying to do?

    Reports 1, 2 & 3 all exist in individual two tab pages. Pages 1 & 2 would have the same parent tab and their own sub tab. Page 3 would have its own parent tab. When in those pages the appropriate tabs are 'current'. When I click on Control # on any page and go to page 4, I would like the source pages tabs to stay 'current' when displaying page 4.
    By the way, my actual application has in the neighborhood of a dozen pages which are like reports 1,2,& 3 as I described above. Rather than build a dozen identical (with the exception of current tabs) page 4's, I would rather build one page 4 and dynamically set page 4's current tab to the source page's current tab.
    It's a visual reminder to the user as to which page they were on when they clicked the Control # field.
    I also have 8 - 10 SVG charts which I have linked to reports. About 6 of them display the same report using different parameters. Again, I would like THAT report to have the same current tab as the source chart (chart clicked on to invoke the report).
