Each time I try to open a web page it says 'server not found' so I shut it and try the same page again and it opens

So for example I clicked on the Firefox help icon and it said 'server not found' I shut it down clicked on it again and it opened. This happens all the time with various different sites and pages within those sites

What do you mean ''shut it down'' ? Did you close Firefox, or that window.

Most times when trying to access web sites get page stating Server Not Found..... Try Again. As soon as I hit try again I always get the web site - annoying!!!

Firefox has always opened with an extra tab that says "server not found." How can I fix this?

Several years ago, I downloaded Firefox for the first time on my Xp machine. The browser opens to the home page, but up in the tab area, there is always, and I mean through EVERY version and upgrade since that first one, including the most recent version 4, there is a second tab just to the right of the home page tab that says, "server not found." Now, since the home page loaded, it is obvious to me that the server WAS indeed "found." what I don't understand is why this second tab is there. Any ideas? I have read through the FAQ about not finding the server, and nothing there is relevant to this, as far as I can see.

Firefox is loading pages very slowly, most of times saying server not found. Same pages loaded quickly in ie9. Previously FF used to load pages fast. FF version 8.0.1, windows vista & windows XP.

Opening Numbers and getting the same page size and location each time

Can someone help me with something which is pretty basic, please?
When I open a Numbers spreadsheet which I use frequently, each time it opens as a tiny box and always has to be resized and repositioned onscreen before I can start work.
I figure there must be something I can do to have it open in the same screen position and the same size each time, but what?

Your tags show OS X Mavericks 10.9. The latest version of Mavericks is 10.9.2
Are using Numbers 3.0 ? The lates version of Numbers is 3.1 and it does save the zoom.
Maybe this will help, but it does not work in Numbers 3.0
Numbers > Preferences > General > Default Zoom > 100% (or whatever % you want).
And Save your document before closing to retain the zoom and position.
The Numbers *window* size can not (yet) be saved, but the zoom and the position within a sheet can be saved in Numbers 3.1

Look at the file name closely for errors. Should have "show extension" enabled in OS. Look for more than one dot like boat.jpg.jpg

For the last few days, I can get to almost any initial website or bookmark but I cannot click open anything in that website without refreshing 4-10 times. I think it has been since I upgraded to latest version of Firefox.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Hotmail doesn't open and says 'server not found' but all other websites work fine...

My macbook won't open hotmail. It works on all other websites apart from hotmail. I have tried using safari to open it but it still didn't work. It comes up with the message 'Server not Found'. I have tried another computer in the house and it worked absolutely fine. I have cleared cookies and cache on the macbook which has not changed anything. Are you using a bookmark or do you enter the website via the main entry (i.e. a link on the MSN page)?
In the case of a bookmark, you may need to delete this bookmark and create a new bookmark.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Photo Booth won't open ... crash log says "image not found"

I had a new hard drive installed on my MACBOOK. When i got it back, photo booth was not on my mac anymore.

I got this same message from having installed Leopard (10.5)
and then because the "great Check Point VPN" software doesn't support Leopard I reinstalled Tiger (10.4) from supplied CD's
Yes, photo booth left on my machine was version 2.0.1
and will NOT run under Tiger
1) first, using Finder, locate your "photo booth" and rename it [or delete it]
2) using Os X tiger cd 1 find the "Install Bundled software only" icon
3) Pick "custom install", then expand the "Bundled Applications" until you see Photo Booth
4) click ALL of them off, except leave Photo Booth flagged [when I pick it, office 2004 TEST drive turns on too, unflag that too]
5) Press the Upgrade button [don't select easy install, as that will install EVERYTHING]
6) Photo Booth shows in your Dock and it works

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

I have Maverick 10.9.4, lately when I try to send from iPhoto a box pops in to say server not found

I have MacBook Pro with Maverick 10.9.4 -- with 427.03 GB free-- 4 GB memory-- 2.4 GHz-- Bus Speed--800 MHz-- iPhoto version 9.5.1
In trying to send a iPhoto a box pops in with The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination.
The only thing that has changed is the log in/ password for yahoo--which was recommend by yahoo.
My e-mail address from yahoo hasn't changed.... the mail function works.... Facebook works... and I have signed in with new password without problem. Ready to rip my hair out!. I have tried to do what the iPhoto/help has asked... to no avail. Can anyone out there help???

iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Accounts ->
Delete and recreate your email settings.
Alternatively, use Apple's Mail for the job. It has Templates too - and more of them.
