Ear deployment thru oracle enterprise manager fails

Hi All,
When I try to deploy a ear thru oracle enterprise manager
gui it fails with the following error
Deployment failed: The configuration files for this Oracle9iAS instance are inconsistent with the configuration stored in the repository. In order to protect the repository, no further configuration or deployment operations are allowed until the problem with the configuration on the filesystem is resolved. This condition arises when a prior operation was unsuccessful. Please check the logs located at ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs to determine why DCM was unsuccessful in updating the configuration files on disk. Some possible causes are: * permissions on files * file contention issues on Windows NT * EMD and dcmctl running concurrently * internal Oracle error After resolving the problem that prevented DCM from updating the configuration files, you may use the dcmctl resyncInstance command to resolve the problem. Alternatively, you can stop and then restart the active dcmctl or EMD process and resyncInstance will automatically be performed.
I checked the file permissions in the j2ee/home/config directolry, in this directory there is no xml file with read only permissions.
Also I restarted all the services.....but with no luck...
TIA
Swapnil

We had a similar trouble with deployment. Error message was "operation in progress". Restart is not enough, since server holds everything in temporary files and upon restart returns to the same state. Using dcmctl command line utility to deploy we've got some ADMN-2020 message (or something) and error text for this message (got it using again dcmctl, heh) adviced to run "dcmctl ResetFileTransactions". We haven't encountered any other source of solution than this message from dcmctl itself and it was working solution.
But the problem was just similar and we were using file based repository.
Try to run dcmctl to deploy application and read error messages issued by this command line utility. Seems it is used much more for deployment than web front end so it is more usefull.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager executable failed on restart: nmeo.exe process

    Hi all
    I installed Oracle 10.2.0.1 on Windows Server 2003 with default options but a fatal error occurs daily and just after a restart. The error described hereunder occurs each day at the same time that the last restart was done. It seems the Oracle Enterprise Manager failed due to the NetWorker Module process.
    The displayed error is a general bug report window, which aims to send data to Microsoft. The title of this crash window is "Oracle Enterprise Manager executable" but the process, which seems to be crashed is "nmeo.exe".
    I've tryed to re-install Oracle with several Windows accounts (admin,...) in vain.
    This error appears daily two or three times at the same time. How could I fix this issue ?
    Thanks in advance for advice

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Agent deployment (Installation and Configuration) Error

    Hello,
    I am trying to create an agent on a linux server using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.3. The user is created with root privilege on the server, by change /etc/sudoers entry username the same as the root entry. After that I tried to add host target by clicking Setup->Add Target->Add target Manually->Add Host Targets in the Oracle Enterprise Manager.
    In the Add Target view: I clicked on add, then I entry host and platform information. After that I click next. Then I provided the Linux x86-64 : Installation Details for
    Installation Base Directory, Instance Directory, Name Credential ... then click next. then click Deploy Agent.
    In the Add Host Status view: stages Initialization and Remote Prerequisite Check successfully passed, but in the stage Agent Deployment, it failed in the Installation and Configuration phrase of the Agent Deployment stage.
    The log content is shown below. There are numerous SEVERE Errors. But I don't have much experience in dealing with these type of problems. I thank you in advance for all the helps.

       Hello AkankshaSheoranKaler
    We have done the following, but we aren't able to resolve this issue. Thank you for your help!
    lf
    “This  happen if the software library is not accessible, readable or unmounted (if it is in shared file system).”
    On Enterprise Manager server [nsn175-105], we did the following:
    1. we modified /etc/exports to include this line: /export *(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
    we start nfs service by executing command “service nfs start”.
    On Management Agent server (nsn175-89), we verified that we are able to mount /export directory of EM server.
    On Management Agent server, we started firefox browser and were able to run successfully https://nsn175-105.us.oracle.com:4904/empbs/genwallet
    After making this change, we ran agent deployment again. We encountered the same error as shown above.
    “You can fix the software library or you can download the agent bits in offline mode.”
    For fixing the software library, select Setup->Provision and Patching->Offline Patching, then select Offline Patching radio button, download: https://updates.oracle.com/download/em_catalog.zip. Next upload this zip file.
    “Try downloading the bits again”
    We are not sure what agent bits are. Would you please explain this and provide procedure how we can download this?
    (Here I have attempted to fix the software library, but I am new to Enterprise Manager and not sure how to interpret this).

  • Deploy agents for Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid 11.1.0.1.0

    Hi All,
    I have successfully installed Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid 11.1.0.1.0 on Red Hat 5.5 64 bit. It is up and running.
    I have started preparing for deployment of the agents. There are quite a lot targets which are Windows machines.
    My question is what is the best approach for deploying agent on server running Microsoft Windows? Is it Installing Oracle Management Agent Using Agent Deployment Wizard or silent.
    I started with Agent Deployment Wizard but for Windows it requires setting SSH and installing cygwin which is not very comfortable if I have to do this for all Windows targets. If it is the case , should cygwin and ssh daemon be running all the time or just for the phase of installing the agent?
    Please advise which is the best approach in this case when most of the targets are running on Microsoft Windows.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi,
    I have used the method "agent install in silent mode" and believe that this is a rather simple way to install an agent. You just have to test it
    on one host - and if it works there it will work any other hoste as well - you could use the same response file for all other hosts. The command
    to install the agent remains the same...
    But maybe someone else beliefs that another approach might be better...

  • Error while creating data source using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g

    Hi,
    I have deployed my web application developed on OC4J 9.0.4 stand alone (Win2K) to an integrated OC4J version(Solaris) using Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g.
    However, I get an error when I try to create a data source.
    The data source I want to create would have the following parameters (as seen in data-sources.xml on the stand alone version):
         <data-source
              class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
              name="TestDS"
              location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
              xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
              ejb-location="jdbc/TestDS"
              connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
              url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:1521:test"
              username="user"
              password="password"
              min-connections="5"
              max-connections="20"
              inactivity-timeout="30"
         />
    When I entered the above data on the Enterprise Manager Data Sources page, I got the following error:
    quote:
    Error saving Data Source Properties. - Entity et="system";ei="0",et="application";ei="48",et="data-sources";ei="167":child:data-sourcechild key:location:jdbc/OracleCoreDS; class:com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource; already exists in the repository. Resolution: Please check the code base.
    unquote:
    Could somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong ?
    I tried to manually edit the data-sources.xml file but the data source didn't show up on the Enterprise Manager.
    I'm using a new OC4J instance (on the Solaris machine) for my applications. Is the data source error related to this?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Thanks for your reply , Steve.
    I noticed that there is a default datasouce on the EM with the following parameters:
    <data-source
              class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
              name="OracleDS"
              location="jdbc/OracleCoreDS"
              xa-location="jdbc/xa/OracleXADS"
              ejb-location="jdbc/OracleDS"
              connection-driver="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
              username="scott"
              password="->pwForScott"
              url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:oracle"
              inactivity-timeout="30"
         />
    The location and xa-location attributes that I use for my "test" data source are the same as the default one. So, could this be the issue?
    What should be the values for location and xa-location attributes from my "test" data source?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    add or drop users, Using GUI tools could be sometime dangerous.
    You can always use performance diagnostic (oracle provided) to have performance stats in graphical display.
    You can also use EM Grid Control (10g) in order to maintain 8i and 9i with 10g EM Grid control.
    You need to install an agent on those database in order to communicate with 8i and 9i.

    Version 10.1.0.2.0 Production
    Running on Windows XP Professional

    (NOTE): I understand that this issues is related to TNSNAMES.ORA file. I have another computer, and the OEM Console is working just fine on that computer. So, I copied the TNSNAMES.ORA file from the other computer, but still I am receiving the same issue.
    Please let me know if you can help me with this issue. Thanks in advance ...

    This problem occur when i run version 10.2 of Console Enterprise Manager
    This a very funny error but took me a lot tries and errors to solve it !
    I'ts related to the syntax of an entry defining an SID in the tnsnames.ora. This an oracle bug for sure
    Here is an entry in my tnsnames.ora
    Then why does posted example below NOT contain any "SID" entry?
    mydb.world =
    *(DESCRIPTION =*
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myoraclehost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = mydb)
    At first look this entry is valid. At least SHOULD BE VALID an understood by oracle tnsnames interpreter
    After a couple of tries, i finally found that there should be at least one space between the begining of the line where figure out the description keyword (DESCRIPTION
    I've corrected the problem by inserting a space before this keyword.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is not running.

    Hi All,
    I cloned e-Business suite application/db to another server.After cloned Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is not running. I've been noticing following messages during start/stop/status.

    I opened the SR but still issues has n't fixed. I did all steps mentioned in TZ and etc according to metalink.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

    This is expected behavious. It is because Enterprise Manager cannot run with the new server name. You can either go through loads to change the config files or simply drop and recreate the console.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control is not working properly

    Hello!
    I have a problem with Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, the web console. When I open the browser, instead of showing the login window, it shows the window where three arrows, the database instance, the listener, and the conection, that are red and down.
    However they are working correctly, the database is up and working, but the EM doesn't show anything else.
    Is there a way to make it work again?
    Thanks!

    The Enterprise Manager has lost sync with the database.
    The only way I know to do this remotely is to tell the OEM to shut down and/or bring up the database - twice. It'll try and fail and perhaps eventually reset it's pointers.
    I'd really like Oracle to create a 're-sync to actual state' URL ... there must be an easy way, such as flushing the collected metrics or something.

    Here is the press release. Material is already posted on OTN. Enjoy!
    Oracle(R) Enterprise Manager Delivers Unique New Capabilities for Top-Down Application Management
    Tuesday November 13, 8:15 am ET
    New Capabilities Address Cross-Tier Performance Diagnostics, Integrated Incident and Problem Management and Application Data Sharing
    ORACLE OPENWORLD, SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building upon its "top-down" approach to managing application and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure resources, Oracle today announced key new enhancements to Oracle® Enterprise Manager 10g. The new enhancements deliver a broad range of capabilities, across the application lifecycle, for custom and SOA-based applications and pre-packaged applications and include faster performance diagnostics for production applications; simplified incident and problem management through integration with Oracle's Siebel CRM HelpDesk and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications; expanded capabilities to manage Oracle Business Intelligence; and easy and secure data sharing across the application lifecycle.
    Oracle's top-down approach to application management uniquely addresses the need for an end-to-end application perspective -- whether technology-focused or business-focused -- while enabling administrators to virtually eliminate the confusion caused by low-level system alerts that cannot be easily correlated to business exceptions. This has been a common and costly shortfall in traditional systems management software and frequently contributes to prolonged application downtime.
    "Helping customers drive better business results is the essence of Oracle's top-down approach to application management," said Richard Sarwal, senior vice president of Systems Management Products, Oracle. "With the addition of Connectors enabling closed-loop incident and problem tracking with Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications and breakthrough application performance management capabilities using Oracle Enterprise Manager's Application Diagnostics for Java feature, Oracle takes another significant step in fulfilling our top-down application management strategy."
    "With this new release, Oracle is expanding both the breadth and depth of the application management capabilities available through Oracle Enterprise Manager, providing features designed for detailed diagnosis of Java application performance issues in production environments, with the ability to trace transactions between Java application servers and database sessions," according to Tim Grieser, Program Vice President, Enterprise System Management Software, IDC
    Taking Application Performance Management to the Next Level
    The new Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java capability in Oracle Enterprise Manager can monitor and diagnose performance problems in production Java applications with minimal impact on application performance and availability. Unlike most Java performance management tools that utilize bytecode instrumentation, Oracle Enterprise Manager's new feature has a highly innovative diagnostics engine that introduces less than one percent performance overhead on production applications and does not require IT operations to have a deep understanding of the application logic. The new feature also has a hot-pluggable architecture that enables the diagnostics engine to be deployed in heterogeneous middleware environments, without shutting down the application server. Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java is included in the Oracle Application Server Diagnostics Pack and the new Oracle Diagnostics Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware.
    Improving Performance Diagnostics Across Application Tiers
    Diagnosing end user performance problems has become increasingly difficult because of the increased deployment of multi-tiered web applications and the dynamic nature of web-based applications. With Oracle Application Diagnostics for Java, administrators now have powerful diagnostic capabilities by enabling application administrators to trace in-flight transactions and correlate user request activities in the Java application to corresponding activity in the database. Similarly, database administrators can quickly identify Java applications that may be causing resource contention in the database. This cross-tier diagnostics helps accelerate problem resolution by identification of resource bottlenecks across tiers.
    Tighter Integration for Siebel CRM Diagnostics and Oracle Enterprise Manager
    Siebel CRM diagnostic capabilities have been integrated with Oracle Enterprise Manager, providing a single integrated tool for problem diagnostics in Siebel CRM and its underlying infrastructure. Siebel CRM administrators can use Oracle Enterprise Manager for end-to-end management of Siebel CRM and to simplify Siebel CRM diagnostics based on user and server performance analysis. Enhancing Management Capabilities Across the Application Lifecycle
    New Management Connectors for Siebel CRM HelpDesk and Peoplesoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications allow the deployment of end-to-end IT incident and problem management solutions capable of unprecedented levels of automation and closed-loop remediation. The connectors enable Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk customers to benefit from an integrated solution that spans the service lifecycle from incident logging and tracking to top-down management of applications including problem management, patching and provisioning across the technology stack. The bi-directional integration between Oracle Enterprise Manager and Siebel CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk applications helps streamline key support processes by automatically creating service requests for incidents captured in Oracle Enterprise Manager. Support analysts using these help desk products are automatically empowered with respective corrective actions to accelerate problem resolution.

    This is expected behavious. It is because Enterprise Manager cannot run with the new server name. You can either go through loads to change the config files or simply drop and recreate the console.

  • Schedule Backup on Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g

    Hello All,
    I am using Oracle enterprise manager 10g for schedule backup, i enter the user and password of operating system (windows XP) in Host Credentials part, but it return this error:
    Connection to host as user khazaei failed: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect
    khazaei is my windows username ,
    any one can help me?
    thanks in advance,
    Hamzeh Khazaei

    You need to add khazaei to the Local Security Policy "Logon as Batch Job". if you have already done so and you have logged on to a Domain, then add the domain to the username. e.g domain_name\khazaei.
    BTW - you can get faster response to this issue in the EM forum
