Easy way to replace images in keynote without losing formating?

I have a keynote document that contains a large number of images which have been formated in various ways using the tools in keynote (resizing, masking, builds, etc.). When I noticed that the presentation was performing rather slows (locking up, delayed response, etc.), I took a closer look at the image files and discovered that they were 600 dpi. I changed the resolution of the files down to 72dpi in photoshop and replaced the original image with this new lower resolution version. The performance and that slide was greatly improved. However, I now have over 100 images that need the same treatment. I can pull the image file out of keynote fairly easily by dragging the file icon from the file info box of the the metrics tab of the inspector window into a finder folder. BUT, here is the question: is there a way to quickly and easily replace the original 600dpi images in keynote with the new ones that I have scaled down to 72 dpi in photoshop? As far as I can tell, I cannot simply drag the new image (or copy/paste) into the file info box of the metrics pane in the inspector window. Any suggestions???

If the scaling between the 600 DPI and 72 DPI versions of the images are different, then there likely isn't any way to do a bulk change. If, on the other hand, you just need to replace the images themselves, but the same effects are applied (e.g., same scaling, masking, etc.), then you may be able to batch replace them by tinkering with the presentation package. All Keynote presentation are actually "packages", collections of files that appear to the Finder as a single file. If you select the presentation icon while holding down the Control key, then choose "Show Package Contents" from the popup menu, you'll see the files inside the presentation. These files will include the original image files. If you name your 72 DPI files exactly the same as their 600 DPI versions, and replace the old versions with the newer, smaller versions, Keynote should use those new images exactly as it did the old ones.
If you have done a bunch of transformations on the images in Keynote, I'm a bit dubious that this will work, but it may be worth a shot.

  • Easy way to replace images?

Hi, I am using Pages 09 for a document with some diagrams and different images that I have. I have sized them the way I want. My problem is that I have updated some of these images, changed some colors, text etc in the images, but they are the same size and the same filename. Is there any easy way to replace these old images with the new updated version? Is there some way to re-link them as you can in InDesign?
I tried to just copy an image from Finder, then selecting the old image and pasting, hoping that the size would be adjusted but it did not: the new image was huuuge.
    Thanks!

As far as I remember, just replace the old files by the new ones in the document's file.
If it is a flat file, rename it
    xxx.pages.zip
    double clic to expand it
Now, in both original format you have now a package.
ctrl click its icin > Show Package Contents.
After that, you will see the picture files.
For safe, move the old ones in a folder.
Move the new ones in the package.
    Close the package
    Double click to open it.
It all worked fine you will see the new pictures.
Maybe one day I will write a script to automate the task.

  • How to import images into keynote without losing quality?

Whenever I import (either by dragging or through keynote import) high resolution images (either jpg or png) at high resolution (say 1920x1280) into any keynote presentation (1280x1024) it somehow automatically gets compressed into a really ugly lowres image. This, in my case, makes it impossible to present designs properly. Is this a setting or am I importing them wrong?

I think this is your answer.
Images in JPEG format remain JPEG images; other formats are converted to TIFF. After an image has been downsampled, you can’t restore it to its original size by clicking Original Size in the Metrics inspector. To avoid downsampling and use images at their original size, turn off automatic downsampling inKeynote preferences.

  • Is there an easy way to replace fonts in Photoshop ?

Is there an easy way to replace fonts in Photoshop without clicking on each text layer? We just got a new font system, so now our fonts don't match up. Looking for a fast/easy way to replace the fonts like in InDesign or Illustrator.

Actually (You probably can guess what I’m driving at) Scripting could be used to automate such a task, but it would not really be »easy« unless one has some experience in the matter – if text-items contain a mixture of fonts it might even get kind of »complicated«.
Still, depending on the quantity of files to be edited, the OP could try asking in the Scripting Forum if someone might not have a Script for something like this already …

  • Is there a quick & easy way to replace an image within an image frame?

Is there a quick and easy way to replace an image in an image frame that is already set up with the proper effects?
In my example, I have a photo grid and just need to replace the photos periodically. Everything is already in place in the grid. I don't want to recreate the grid on the page.
I thought that I could have clicked to get the brown frame for the image and placed a new one, but that didn't work. Or, I could have right clicked and found something like "replace image", but that didn't work.
How can I quickly and easily just click on the image I need to replace and replace it with another one?

There is an easy way to do this. Click on the image you would like to change and then change the fill to the new image. You will see the fill option in the upper left when you have the image you would like to change selected.

After editing images in Aperture, I want to overwrite the new editing to a backup external drive.  Is there an easy way to "add" the new work without the  long process of backing up the whole library.

But the Library is not a program.  I use SuperDuper, and it is smart enough to treat Finder Packages (such as the Library) as a whole bunch of files and folders, and overwrites only those that have changed.  Can't CCC be set up the same way?

  • WHAT IS THE BEST NAD EASIER WAY TO REPLACE THE SKY IN A LANDSCAPE FOR A DIFFERENT ONE?

WHAT IS THE BEST AND EASIER WAY TO REPLACE A SKY IN A LANDSCAPE FOR A DIFFERENT ONE?

depends who clunk you can get away with.
easiest is magic wand and use the layer properties to make it 'multiply' or 'lighten' or 'darken' etc as suits your images.
a step on from this would be to use the layer blending options. it's the easiest way to get a good overlay,
paste the new sky image into your image and scale it to fill the whole area, then double click the layer
then use the blending options especially noting the 'blend if' sliders at the bottom which you can use to tell it to allow different tones to show through.
this mixed with holding the l'alt' key as you adjust the sliders allows you to fade from 0-100% of certain tones being visible through the layers, so you can for example allow you new sky layer to be seen in between branches of a tree etc. fiddle with it and you'll see what it does.
combine this with a layer mask where you can paint out bits that you definitely don't want the sky to show through.

  • Is there an easy way to replace individual elements in one string array from another striing array?

I have a string array with elements as follows:
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 5E 00 00 00
       00 00 50 00 30 00 33 00
       34 00 39 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
The array I want to use to replace values with is:
    43 4E 31 30 30 33 30 30 31 41
Where 43 goes in the 3rd row fifth position
Where 4E goes in the 3rd row seventh position
Where 31 goes in the 4th row  first position
Where 30 goes in the 4th row third position
Where 30 goes in the 4th row fifth position
Where 33 goes in the 4th row seventh position
Where 30 goes in the 5th row  first position
Where 30 goes in the 5th row third position
Where 31 goes in the 5th row fifth position
Where 41 goes in the 5th row seventh position
So the final array looks as follows:
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 43 00 4E 00
       31 00 30 00 30 00 33 00
       30 00 30 00 31 00 41 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
       00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Is there an easy way to replace an element of a string within an array with another element of a string within a different array?
    Thank you.

  • Exporting a PDF from keynote without losing hyperlinks

exporting a PDF from keynote without losing hyperlinks
anyone have any ideas why it doesn't export the hyperlinks to the PDF?
i only have PDF reader on my machine, not the full PDF creator

Or, better than that, export the PDF from InDesign as PDF/X-4!
By default, Acrobat and Reader use overprint preview when displaying PDF/X-4 files. Plus you have the benefit of full color management and not having transparency ruined by premature flattening.
One other note. Other than for the fairly common practice of overprinting black text over colors to avoid halo effects due to registration, one should be exceptionally careful in using overprint. Trapping, the other good, justifiable use for overprint is really best performed by the RIP. Most modern RIPs provide for automatic trapping. Overprint should absolutely not be used as a “poor man's transparency,” especially in conjuction with spot colors. With the advent of real transparency in the Adobe imaging model and hence in Illustrator, InDesign, and PDF, there is no good reason to use overprint hacks anymore to simulate transparency.

Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

Long story short, my one year old disabled my iphone5 and I need to "connect to itunes" as the screen instructs. I went through the steps and it says that I will be doing a factory reset and I will lose everything. Is there any way to get my phone open without losing everything?? I'm mainly concerned about my pictures and videos.

  • Replace Images in Keynote '09

I need to update a presentation with new updated images. Is there a way to swap the current image with another, keeping its animation and properties without going through the pains of inserting the new image, formating it and reapplying the animation. (I can do this in Powerpoint)

Another way I use all the time is to open the package and replace images. As long as the new image has the same name as the original, when you open the document it will load the new image with the same settings as the original. Note that the new version of keynote does not save projects as packages unless you tell it to in the settings... and then it only does that to new documents.

  • Way to replace image names? HELP!!

Hi, I'm working on a series of keynote documents that need, for outside reasons, to have exact consecutive image numbers... right now they are kinda all over the place. Lets say an image is called Image_02, and I change the name of it to be Image_27 to match said outside need, is there a way to tell it to update the image to Image_27 in keynote?
In Indesign, the document will have a little icon saying it can't locate the image, and then you go through and tell it where the image is... can you do that in keynote? I have about 300+ images to do this with, and I can't imagine I will have to go through and manually replace all the images in keynote so the names are correct!!Help!!

    Thanks for your help Mark!
You're right, yeah the QR code is a placed link, probably would be easiest to have the document open and relink and save out as a PDF 100 times. The files obviously need to have different names but they DO NOT need to relate to the file name of the QR code (codes/web addresses will be scanned manually by the client after printing for reference).
So now I just need help to figure out how to 'Relink' and 'Save As' 100 times. I've never used scripts before, is it something I can do myself or would I need to get someone to write it? Or can I just set up a regular or batch action?
    Thanks again!
