ECC6 - build WebI on top of BW or RapidMarts?

We have SAP ERP and are about to migrate to ECC6. We have never used BW. We have implemented 1 RapidMart for Sales. We now need to add other modules to create a Corporate Data Warehouse. What are the arguments for and against going the BW vs the RapidMart route?

Hi,
there are several factors to consider:
- first of all are you licensed for BW or do you need to buy it ?
- what about your internal knowledge ? do you have the skills to deploy, administrate and maintain BW ? how about the skills on the Data Services side and Rapid Marts side ?
- and in general a Data Mart solution doesn't replace a full datawarehouse but you should look at all your requirements and think about which solution best fits your needs

java.io.FileNotFoundException: null\packsinfo.xml (The system cannot find the path specified)
    What went wrong??
It is very very urgent. Could anyone tell me how to write a Xml installation file for building web installer, please??

    Hi,
that is not really a java related question. Have you tried to find some IzPack support forum? I've never heard about it, so I can't help.

  • Lightroom 5 - Building Web Gallery hangs and  then fails (worked versions 3, 4 no problems)

The key and only reason I own and use Lightroom is to create and manage my 50,000+ family photos spanning through 3 centuries.  (1800s, 1900s, 2000s)
    www.L-Y-N-C-H.com
With Lightroom 5 the web galleries I have previously created and uploaded and as well the customer user presets I have created OR the standard templates are now ALL hanging and failing during the "Upload Web Photo Gallary after exporting all the images, etc.
The app does report the folders and files exist on the server so it must be logging in succesfully and parsing files and directories etc?
It then goes off and is looping around "Building Web Photo Gallery" and after about 5 plus minutes it fails with a " an error occured sending the file:  connection to the server failed"
Which is probably just because it is broken and then times out because of failure.
I have checked, triple checked, changed passwords and also later uploaded FTP files and etc and actually am now having to EXPORT the whole gallery locally via LR5 and then FTP by hand the whole thing to the website.
defeats the whole reason i have been buying this product?
EVERYTHING works great except Lightroom 5 is now broken for this task to me.  All I did was send money to upgrade and install product and upgrade libraries.......so i can't go back right?

March 2014: After 31 years of emailing and internet use, our/my entire email system has recently been bombarded by huge volumes of spam, hackers, and robo-mailer daemons so I am taking drastic actions to reduce the 1,000s of unwanted emails we/I get everyday. HostGator (my ISP for email and L-Y-N-C-H.com) SpamBlocker and now BoxTrapper are fully implemented.
    This process follows 2 paths:
    1) Wait and allow me additional time on your first use for me to see your email and then add your ISP/URL and email to my accepted senders list.  (whitelist)
    2) Reply to the link below to verify you are not a robomailer or spambot, etc.

RRWell, if you use Swing with a JApplet then you are dynamically creating the user interface. The components are added at runtime, not when you compile the programs. All you need to do is drive which controls to add by some stored data. The same is true for HTML if you generate your pages at runtime (i.e. not just static HTML files).

  • Calling OWF from customer build web application

All, All the example that I've read from OWF documentation is assuming that you builder the workflow from OWF Builder and manage it thru OWF manager, monitor is thru OWF Monitor. I'm wondering if it is possible to monitor the workflow and manage the workflow from customer build web application. Since we don't want our users have to login several times and use different URLs to get into the customer build application, then manage the workflow and monitor it via different urls. Anybody has experience doing all from one application can provide any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    dsl

    Hi,
Well, I did my JSP pages doing selects to OWF tables and OWF java APIs. I used owf pl/sql procedures as my reference. For example, I need to know how to create actions buttons. I looked at wfa_html procedure and looked for how it was doing that.
    Any doubts just ask,

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/building-web-app-visitor-submitted.html

To save others hours looking for this, if you want to know how to set the Expiry Date from a custom HTML Web App Item submission form, you can do something like this:
    input type="radio" style="display: none;" checked="true" value="2" id="daysRB"
    input type="text" value="60" maxlength="2" style="display: inline; width: 25px;" id="Days" name="Days"
You can't set the date directly, but you can tell it how many days from today you want it to expire...

    Thanks.

Yes. Sure. But as i can see, during generation of EAR there are some files like (Project)App.xml, (Project)Component.xml that regenerated each time i create EAR from Developer Studio. I don't know the logic of creation of these files. Is there standard ant build script from SAP which i can use?

  • Connect BO WebI on top of SAP Accelerator

    Hello,
I have been tasked to connect SAP NetWeaver BW 7.x to BusinessObjects XI 3.1 within WebI version.
To gain performances during Database Treatment, BW Accelerator have been added on the SAP NetWeaver BW.
I see a lot of documentation suggesting that the following workflow (BW Cubes -> BW Accelerator -> Integration KitSAP -> BO Univers -> WebI) is not really possible at the moment because universes cannot been created on top of BW Accelerator Cubes.
I have a doubt about using the SAP Integration kit with BW Accelerator for connecting BWA and BO Univers. But is the new Data Federator can supply it (To Connect BO Univers (WebI) on top of BW Accelerator) ?
Another suggestion is that normal BW got Accelerated. For this case I will still connect WebI to BW but the BW system will return the answer much quicker thanks to BWA. But fom the outside I will not know or see that BWA is involved ( it is all just BW connectivity). Is anybody already use this process and got significant speed results?
    Regards,
    Yanabee

    Hi
as far as I know your universes built on BEx queries normally benefit implicitely from the performance boosting due to BWA. This is transparent for the BO universe architect and the BO end users.
Bulding universes directly on BW cubes is not a Best Practice anyway. One reason for this is the amount of data that may be fetched from the BO reporting servers in order to display the report. The BWA would not really have had an impact at this workflow.

    Use this setup:
BW Accelerator -> BW Cubes -> BEx queries -> BO Univers -> WebI
Performance improvements due to BWA will be automatically leveraged to BOBJ.

    Hello Everyone,
Is there a way to get the time taken by a webi query execution on the BO side and in the BW side? Is this stat stored some where?

  • Poor Performance with Webi on top of BW - Large Navigational Attributes

We have recently developed a reporting model based on having a BW cube of approx 20 million records. This has 2 very large line item dimensions (one 14 million records, on 6 million records) that both have navigational attributes stored against them.
We need the design to be like this because the attributes change monthly and we do not wish to do a complete drop and reload of cube data each month (this takes 10-12 hours).
When we build a Universe on top of the cube and try Webi reporting the performance is dreadful - many reports time out completely. This happens whether or not the large line item dimensions are selected in the query. The BW query is very simple just 2 key figures and approx 30 Navigational Attributes as default values. No filters are applied.
For example a query that just contains Calander Year and one key figure either times out after 10 minutes or fails.
Our source of the data is Oracle tables and the same query runs in 2 1/2 minutes and the query runs in RSRT in approx 5 minutes with no problems so it is definately a problem with BOBJ to MDX to BW.
We are on BW7.01 SP5 and XI3.1 SP2. SAP have recommend going to SP3 and using query stripping to help with this but I doubt if this will work.
We have tried building aggregates, splitting into yearly cubes etc but nothing seems to help.
My question is do the large navigational attributes mean Webi simply can't cope with this?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the suggestions.
Although this did not directly help I've now found a solution.
We had a calculated key figure in the query that doing a count of records on a huge navigational attribute. This was causing all queries to run very slowly (even if the key figure wasn't selected in Webi).
Removing it solved the problem. Will have to find another way to  do the count key figure.
    Thanks

  • Data Federator - Building Web Services Data Source - Request Guidance

    Hello -
I am trying to build a web services data source in Data Federator.
    I have:
    1. In ECC, I have created a web service, proxy, port, endpoint, etc. and am testing it with WS Navigator
    2. I have created a Project in Data Federator of the type web service
        a. Here I have assigned the WSDL URL (generated in ECC) as the URL
        b. I have setup web service authentication using the same userid, pwd in the web services definition (note: I have set the
web services authentication to 'NONE' to avoing authorization issues)\
        c. I am now trying to "Generate Operations"
I keep getting the error :
The File Access Parameters are not valid (directory path = <HERE IS THE PATH TO THE WSDL WITH THE HOST/PORT stripped OUT>; file pattern = document
I believe that it is finding the WSDL, becuase when I change the WSDL from 'Document' to 'RPC', the error changes with the file pattern = rpc.
What needs to be done to the file access parameter piece.
    PLEASE provide guidance.  Thanks.

    Ananya,
We are using XI to load data to BI from source system. XI basically uses the same concept as Web Services - Real time data concept via RFC embeded in Proxies.
I was using web services to test data load - eventually we will use XI.
KJs blog is pretty good. I was able to get data loaded - after several iterations and several OSS notes. It is still not perfect - there are several manual steps . I am going to pick KJs brain on that.
We are on SP10 and looks like there are several bugs in RSRDA. Some of these are addressed in SP11 an SP12.
    Some notes to consider are
    0001003963, 0001008276,0001009260 and 001003265.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • SharePoint 2010 Site Web Analytics - Top Pages report not showing complete data

    Hi,
I have a custom page in a team site which takes list ID as an argument and shows the relevant data e.g.
    ../Dashboards/View%20Briefing.aspx?BriefingID=1078
    ../Dashboards/View%20Briefing.aspx?BriefingID=1079 etc
When i look at the Top Pages report under Site Web Analytics all i can see is data for:
    /dashboards/view briefing.aspx
I need stats for individual list items i.e. how many time BreifingID 1078 was viewed etc. Is it possible to achieve this using OOTB reports or can i write a custom report to achieve this? If yes then how...
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kashif

You’re dynamically filtering content on a single page with values on the query string. Your users are still only hitting one page (View%20Briefing.aspx). Analytics only sees that 'View%20Briefing.aspx' is being hit; it won’t record stats for what’s specified
    on the query string.
I expect you could pull this data out of your IIS logs using log parser. Some links on this subject:
