Eclipse EJB 3 development

Hi guys,
I have 1.5.0_12 java and Jboss 4.2.0 app server. For devemlopment tool I am using Eclipse 3.3.1.1 with WTP plugin.
I have a project which i want to do using EJB 3 (Persistence API and Stateless Session Beans). Here I am confused how can I do it using Eclipse. Can somebody please point me directions on how to do it?
Thanks
SRH

Let me explain the project a little bit.
The project is a Web application. The web pages will be JSP pages using JSF. JSP pages will call Business Delegates methods which will call respective Stateless Session Bean Methods. Stateless Session Bean Methods will call DAO methods.
Looks like I have to create these projects in Eclipse:
1) EAR Application Project (in JavaEE prespective its File --> New --> Project --> J2EE --> Enterprise Application Project)
2) Dynamic Web Project (in JavaEE prespective its File --> New --> Project --> Web --> Dynamic Web Project) for my JSPs.
Now I am confused about where to put my EJBs.
Thanks
SRH

  • ANN: Eclipse EJB 3.0 Object-Relational Mapping Project Requirements posted

A document that presents an intitial feature and use case list for the early milestones of the Eclipse EJB 3.0 Object/Relational Mapping project has been posted to the project newsgroup (news://news.eclipse.org/eclipse.technology.ejb-orm). It also demonstrates a set of user interface components for editing EJB 3.0 Entities. The document covers the basics and is designed to illustrate the concept. It is in no way comprehensive. For example, it doesn't thoroughly cover the editing of ORM xml descriptors although this is an important requirement for the project. ORM xml support will be detailed in coming revisions, and slated for future milestones.
The purpose of this document is to invite comment on the approach. If you are interested in EJB 3.0 Entity support in Eclipse please give the doc a look over and post your feedback to the EJB 3.0 Object-Relational Mapping Project newsgroup.

    Project Overview:
The goal of this project is to add comprehensive support to the Eclipse Project for the definition and editing of Object-Relational (O/R) mappings for EJB 3.0 Entity Beans. EJB 3.0 O/R mapping support will focus on minimizing the complexity of mapping by providing creation and automated initial mapping wizards, and programming assistance such as dynamic problem identification. The implementation will be extensible so third party vendors can add to its functionality.

  • Setting a new EJB + JSF development environment

    Dear friends,
nowadays me and some friends are dealing with the task of define the a Java development environment for a big enterprise...
After some discussion and also evaluating the available machinery (a Z/os mainframe, a DB2 database and some oter minor servers...) - we decided to use EJB + JSF/Servlets.
The JSF 4.0/Servlets support web requests while the Mainframe bundle the business components (EJB 2.1).
    Is that correct?
have you some advices about our first decisions ?
the development tools will be also discussed but we are pending to Eclipse WTP and JBoss for local tests.. and also MAVEN and ANT to integrate all this bunch of technologies....
do you have some tip about plugins or frameworks that could help us to design a confortable and productive office ?
    best regards,
    Felipe Gacho

    Hi Louis,
Thanks for the swift reply and for the insight into how Jdeveloper initialisation operates. I have since added the "ojaudit -profilehelp" to the setup scripts so that the system folder is correctly initialised. However, it is still not helping with my problem :(
The preferences.xml file is not getting created as part of the call. It creates quite a few other files, but not preferences.xml
    $ ojaudit -profilehelp
    Oracle JDeveloper Audit 11.1.1.4.0 (5923)

    All Metrics
    Compile Rules
    All Rules
    Javadoc Rules
    Audit Rules
    $ pwd
    /system11.1.1.4.37.59.23
    $ cd o.jdeveloper
    $ ls
    1.6.0_18-rev.jdk Default.kdf Eclipse.kdf applications.xml
    Brief.kdf DefaultWorkspace Emacs.kdf audit
    Classic.kdf Default_macosx.kdf VisualCPP.kdf ide.properties
    $
I tried copying in a pre-created file, but i still see the same exception as before.
At the moment, i am doing pretty much what the other team are doing in the make file :
    export JDEV_USER_DIR ; $(T_WORK)/jdevshiphome/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojaudit -profilehelp
    $(CP) $(NDE_PRODUCT_ROOT)/setup/preferences.xml $$PREF_FILE
    $(CHMOD) +w $$PREF_FILE;\
Do you know how they generated the preferences.xml that they pick up from the setup directory? Maybe this is where im going wrong.
The steps I follow to generate mine are:
    - Install Jdeveloper
    - Open jdeveloper, and use my audit profile as default.
    - close jdeveloper.
    - Copy the generated preferences.xml into my setup scripts.
Then as part of the installation process
    - Install jdeveloper (using a script).
    - Run ojaudit -profilehelp.
    - copy the preferences.xml file into the o.jdeveloper directory.
    - Start Jdeveloper.
Do I need to make some changes to this preferences.xml to somehow make it more generic before it can be reused.
    Thanks,

  • Best IDE to develop EJB/Servlet development with WebLogic

    Hi,

  • WYSIWYG for Eclipse (HTML5/Java development) ?

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know if there are some useful WYSIWYG for UI development that could be integrated to Eclipse ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards.

I'm sorry. I should start thinking before posting.
Just after writing this, I thought about what if Project Lombok is the reason.
To test I removed lombok from eclipse.ini and the errors are gone.
Sorry for blaming the wrong tool.

  • Tutorial for Eclipse/Flex Compiler Development?

    Hello,
I cannot find any reliable information on setting up Eclipse with all the right plugins to modify the Flex Compiler.  http://www.darronschall.com/weblog/2005/08/setting-up-eclipse-for-flex.cfm  is too old, and the others are just unclear.
If anyone could give me a hand that would be great.
    - Eclipse version Flex SDK Developers are using.
    - Required plugins (I'm on a Mac 10.5)
    - How to run a sample Flex SDK Compiler project, or debug it or something, or at least just load it.
I have everything set up (eclipse installed, the flex source installed and ready according to the developer documentation).  But this last step is missing.  Thanks!
    Lance

I wouldn't switch if you want to do .NET / SQL Server
development. Most people on Macs who do SQL Server development
either use a remote server or run it in a Windows Virtual Machine.
Important programs are available for both OSes, but without
knowing which ones you use it's hard to say whether you just need
to install the "mac version" or whether you'd need to install a
    brand new one.

  • XCode or eclipse for C development

I am just curious to know which one is better in reference to development of classical C, xCode or eclipse.

    xNik wrote:
I am new to programming so can you fill me in for your comments b
If you want to program on a Mac, use Xcode. No Mac users use Eclipse so if you get stuck, there will be no one to help. Plus, with Eclipse you couldn't build true Mac programs. Eclipse is designed for Java. It can do C and C++ too, but it can't build true Mac programs. Mac programmers speak Xcode.
If you are new to programming, start with vi and the terminal. Write some simple command-line programs that way to learn how to use a text-based editor and to learn how the compiler works. Once you are ready to do something more interesting, you can write the same kind of program in Xcode. Start with one of the Project templates. There are a few versions of command-line tools.

  • Problem while migrating EJB Project developed in NWDS 2.0.11 to NWDS 7.1

    Hi all,
I have developed one EJB Project using NWDS 2.0.11 and now i am migrating it to NWDS 7.1. I have copied that EJB project into the work space of NWDS 7.1. Now its giving build problems for the class path variables for ejb20.jar like...
Unbound classpath variable: 'TSSAP_JAVAX_HOME/lib/ejb20.jar' in project RemoteDeployEJB RemoteDeployEJB July 27, 2006 11:52:09 AM 29
so pls help me to resolve this issue. How to set class path for that variable in my NWDS 7.1.
    Regards,
    Kiran.

    Hi Kiran,
You need to migrate the project. There should be an error message in the problems view that the project should be migrated. Right click on the error message and choose quick fix. Then Migrate Project option should appear. Choose it and follow the steps in the migration wizard.

  • Eclipse Mars: Java Development unacceptable

First of all, how do I work?
    Ubuntu 14.04
Eclipse 4.5 for Java EE Developers (all Updates)
    Oracle JDK 1.8.0_25
    What's the problem?
Cleanup is not working. It shows an error Message.
If you create a new class (or JUnit Testcase, what indeed also is a new class), you get an error message. The file was created, but is completely empty.
Those two problems are so worse, that I'm wondering who tested this.
    Any suggestions?

  • ABAP Development inside eclipse

    Hi Gurus .
i don't find any documentation about Development ABAP code from an Eclipse Environment .
well , may someone let me know if it is possible at all to dvelop ABAP programs form the Eclipse Editor (Netweaver Developer Studio) ?

    Hi!
There is no online connection between Eclipse and SAP. I myself would never like to program without forward navigation:
    - no pattern for function module calls
    - no interface description after double-click
    - no dictionary view after double-click on tables
    - no extended syntax checks
Of course it's even possible, to use notepad as editor for programs - but without strong links to SAP I don't see the benefits.
When you read ( /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2005/08/09/speak-your-voice-new-abap-editor-for-older-releases ) a little about the estimate effort / problems in back-porting the new abap editor to older releases (like 640, sic!), then Eclipse will be a long time not an option.
