Editing html css in dashboard page

Hi experts!
My client wants to delete all blanks dashboard, to make it as compact as possible.
So I'm try to get good results I found and Addon in firefox called FireBug. And I can to see all blanks in my dashboard.
I add a picture with difference of blanks, this picture has difference between view selector and table. I can modify but I don't know how to save it.
Anybody knows about it?

I have a section (arrange horizontally) with four reports, If I add a dummy narrative report (David's trick), on the right, I can see my reports with less white space between them but on the right I can see a white space of narrative view. But in some sections of my dashboard can be a good solution.
I add another screenshoot that is not possible to do tricks that you posted before...and my question is if is possible to delete blank spaces editing css
This report is in a section with another 3 reports (arrange horizontally). In this case I want to delete space of bottom of my bubble chart.

My Firebug doesn't edit HTML, CSS etc.; the only option is "Delete element" or so... FF and Fbug are new versions, FF itself works perfectly. The Edit option looks like dead... Thank you.

Firebug is supposed to show the changes of the site "in fly" while editing HTML code. But Edit is disabled permanently, only Remove (or Delete) element is functional

Editable regions in templates. How do I edit the CSS in a new page from the template?

I am new to Dreamweaver and Web design. I have made a template and have two editable regions they work fine. When I create a page from this template, I can't edit the CSS. What do I need to do to edit the div tags that are specific to the editable regions? Thank you, I appreciate any help I am just about to give up with templates.

HTML & CSS editing applications

I feel this is posted in the wrong place.
if it is, all apologies.
I am looking for an HTML, CSS editor for my mac.
I understand Adobe has Dreamweaver, which I would love, but I am trying to be cheap.
I currently use pixelmator rather than photoshop and I'm looking for something similar for webpage creating and editing.
If anyone could recommend so e applications I would greatly appreciate it!

I dont think Coda or Rapidweaver have what I am looking for.
Both seem like quality programs, but dont have the uses that Dreamweaver has that I need.
I guess what I am looking for is a WSYIWYG editor but an editor that will allow me to have a design editor and generate the code into a text editor for me -- Like dreamweaver.
I hope I wont have to resort to purchasing the 400 dollar app.
Help me if you can!

How to invoke Custom HTML pages on Dashboard page when running OBIEEon AIX

Hi,
i am facing an issue with regards to invoking a custom HTML page( say definitions.html) using html code inside a text section( with html markup) on a dashboard page.
I have performed the following configuration on Windows and it perfectly works well
However i can get the same to work on AIX where i actually needed it to work:)
Could any of you please provide any insights over this issue pls? am i missing something obvious? Appreciate your inputs.
Here is the description of the configuration performed.
Created a HTML file called definitions.html
copied the file in the following folders
OracleBI\web\app\res
OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\Missing_
I have created a new folder called _Missing.
I restarted the app server
HTML code on the Dashboard Page ( used Text section with HTML Markcup)

I have checked the permissions on the custom page and it loosk fine. I have added <HardenXSS> false</HardenXSS>tag to my instanceconfig.xml but not luck yet

The easiest thing for you to do is to download the Oracle BI SampleApp (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obiee-samples-167534.html) and follow their instructions for install/creating/deploying the analyticsRes application on the Oracle BI Application Server. This will allow you to have a URL such as http://myserver.obiee.com:9704/analyticRes/definitions.html on the same server system as your Oracle BI server. This way the port and domain are the same as your Oracle BI Server and you can simply place any additional web based file in that deployed application path to reference on your Oracle BI Server.

David's book is a good place to start. This is really far more involved that can be covered in this forum. You'll need to get familiar with a database, most likely MySQL, PHP, how to send requests tot he database - queries - and most likely maintain a state with Sessions. As you can see, it's a bit involved. The good news is this skills you'll acquire to do this will go a long way! It will cover all the basic requirements of web application development.

How do I edit the CSS of a Dynamic Menu with Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst.

I've watched tutorials on v2 menu module and it obviously was not made for someone just starting out in Business Catalyst. I want to edit the CSS of my Dynamic Module, preferably V1, but if I have to use version 2 I will. The problem I am running into is that the width of the menu I am trying to make is not big enough. The menu is extremely simple, I could whip it up with css and html in a matter of minutes. Just black words horizontal layout with a dark red hover color and selected state. I can change all that in Business Catalyst Site Manager just fine, however, the width of my menu when I look at it on the site, is way too small. Probably only 750px wide. I want it 1000px wide, but I haven't the faintest idea of where to find that information to change. When I add the menu module to my html code i get this: {module_menu,1534789}. How do I add or find css/html to edit the properties? I know I can add classes to the items inside the menu in the Site Manager, but where do I find the html code that shows those names?
I'm obviously missing something important and probably really easy, so I hope someone can help.

I went ahead and built the navigation without a module, easier than wasting all this time trying to figure it out.
But initially my main problem was when I add the Menu module to my html in dreamweaver, this: {module_menu,1534789} would be put in my html instead of css/html code. Now if publish my site and look at the page source, it shows the css/html, but it doesn't in dreamweaver. So is that the only way to edit the css/html code, copy the page source and replace the {module_menu,1534789} with the copied code in dreamweaver?

Custom edit form for my Wiki Page library with only "Page Name" field included

so from the above markup the name field is not part of the edit form,, i think this is because the Name is part of the Document content type and not part of the enterprisewiki content type .. so is there a way to add the name field to the edit
form ?.
second question, the edit form will show all the content type fields such as ; standard, document type, department , title (display in search), etc so what is the best way to remove these fields from the custom edit form ?

Conditionally Hide Dashboard Pages using Javascript.

Hi, I would like to share a small logic i developed to Conditionally show or hide Dashboard Pages based on a Repository Variable.
In the last few weeks we noticed that the ETL jobs scheduled everyday were failing due to various obvious reasons. As a result, Our Dashboard are greeting the users with "No Data to Display Messages". Most of our Sales Dashboards are defaulted to show business health as of yesterday (Sysdate -1). If ETL scheduled everyday at 3 am failes, then the Dashboards show no data. Emails from Users, etc. etc........
For a few days we were manually trying to post some messages on Dashboard something like "Please come again, Our Data for yesterday is not yet loaded........".
I thought it would be nice to hide the Dashhboard Pages automatically, rather than manually posting a message whenever data outage or etl job failure occures.
To do this, I
1. Identified the table that the ETL folks update at the end of every job. This table has a column to say the status of the load (Successful, UnSuccessful) and also a date column to show the most updated load date and timings.
2. Created an Initialization block that would go fetch the most recent loaded date and status of the load values. I set this block to fire every 5 minutes.
3. Created a report with a Date Column and a bogus columns with FX set as the Repository Variable for Load Status. Added filter on the Date as = the repository variable for Load Date.
4. In the Narrative View of this Report, I added the following JavaScript.

Note: I originally wanted to post the message on the Dashboard, but there are some issues with IE 7, with appendChild method. But it works fine with FireFox. So I did not wasted any time on Javascript Errors, rather just had an alert message, that basically does the job i need. I mean tell the users about the ETL Status.
5. Finally I added this report in the Dashboard. Key point here is the above report should be added in the Lower Column. I mean if there are six Dashboard COlumns aligned as 2 Columns X 3 Rows, I added the Narrative Report on the 5th or 6th Columns.
When the load status is unsuccesful, the narrative report will hide the Dashboard Sections and shows a message to the users.

Guided Navigaion is very expensive in terms of performance and I am talking about at least 8 to 10 answer requests per page here.

You have a few options to embed the code:
1) You can embed it manually into each page of a dashboard that you want the dropdown. This fast if there is only a small number of pages. But it can be tedious if there are a lot of pages.
2) You can edit the dashboardtemplates.xml file and find a place to inject the script. This would be optimal since it would globally affect the dashboards. Place the custom edited file in the customMesages folder.
3) When using the code, be aware that I setup a threshold variable. On line 5, I set "var threshold = 0;". This is the threshold at which the dropdown will appear. If you only want the drop-down to appear when you have 5 or more pages, then set this value to 5 and that will be accomplished.
Note:- There is no dashboardtemplates.xml file in customMessages. That is what you need to create.
1. Copy the file from C:\OracleBI\web\msgdb\messages and put it in the customMessage folder
2. Go to line 410
3. Right before the final "</HTML>" paste in the code from this link: http://www.scribd.com/doc/26230268/pageDropDown-1-3
4. Save.
5. Bounce all three services.
6. Test

Html + css editor

I am a java programmer who was told to design a jsp page using html + css.
i dont know css. is there a free WYSIWYG editor out there which takes into an account your css files and lets you use it somehow to make what you need.
keep in mind that when i look at the css style sheet i cant "imagine" how any of the stuffs in there would looks, and i dont know which divs must be inside other divs.

As long as you are able to get away with writing "dirty code" it isn't too much of a pain. When I am knocking a random page up I use 2 methods
1) Set the style for a tag using clas="..."
2) Set the style by adding the tag in your css
The first option allows you to tightly control what style gets applied where. The second option is for global setting of styles. By putting a <style> tag in your header you will find you are very quickly able to change and test your style changes. I am currently, at home, learning php with MySql served from apache. All I have to do is edit my css file in notepad, hit F5 on my browser and voil�, I can see the changes. I can develop my style sheets very quickly with this method. I prefer not to use graphic tools because of all the unnecessary tags they create.

Html,css injector for firefox

i found a great math page, but it looks ugly,so i downloaded a css injector plugin for chrome ( https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/hiadkoalmmkgennhcldmdlndfgagkcim?hl=en )
after editing the css, it will be applied on all subpages on that math website, i was quite happy but, when i print it, or any webpage, there will always be url, date and tittle, which made it looks ugly and not professional, and there's no way to disable url, date and tittle in chrome.

There is no browser specific code for padding because padding is universally supported by all browsers. Why are you using negative margins?
Vendor prefixes are reserved for certain CSS properties that are not universally supported in all browsers yet like box-sizing.

Blend for Visual Studio's HTML/CSS WYSIWYG editor only usable for Windows 8 apps, NOT for web apps?

Hi there,
In the process of learning Visual Studio (VS) and ASP.NET, I initially thought that I could use Blend for VS's seemingly great HTML/CSS WYSIWYG editor to visually design the HTML pages and CSS for a web app developped with VS, whether it be with ASP.NET MVC
or Django (using Python Tools for Visual Studio).
But now it dawned on me that Blend for VS seems to only be meant to design HTML/CSS for native Windows
8 apps, and not
web apps.
Can someone confirm that this is indeed the case?

PS: Maybe this a dumb newbie question, but from the outside, it seems rather counter-intuitive to offer a top-notch tool for web
standards (HTML/CSS) edition (Blend for VS), all integrated with a top-notch tool for web development (VS) but prohibiting the web developer community to leverage the productivity gains of both
the former and the integration. This is especially puzzling given that the latest components of the ASP framework (MVC, SPA projects):
- Pushes for reliance on HTML elements and CSS instead of ASP elements and Skin files;
- VS apparently also does not provide a visual design page view for ASP.MVC projects, which is sure to make many development teams wary of migrating from web forms to MVC.

I believe this the case, but I'm not familiar with asp.net development. As you point out: html is html so you can edit and copy the code. That said, the Windows Store apps forums are specifically about writing Windows Store apps. For discussion

How to delete padding/margin in Dashboard Pages

Hi,
I would like to delete the space between sections inside a dashboard page, so i tried to set the padding to 0 in the "Format Section..." properties of each section, but it doesn't work. At the same time, if one section contains 2 identical tables (arranged vertically) i cannot reduce to 0 the space between the tables to give the feeling that they are one single table; i tried to set the top/bottom padding to 0 in the "Table View Properties" but it didn't help me.
Could you suggest anything to archivie this gol? should i edit any .css file used by the Presentation Services?
