Editing look and feel

Hi, we just started editing our itunes u site. We've seen the theme and templates settings but however much we try we can not see how we could create a look and feel like that of say MIT or OHIO. The course panels that I see on the home page have a look to them that isn't attainable through the edit theme options. Can anyone point out to me what I'm missing here?

Hello Jim,
you can do the following to get a default layout without the JSC styles:
1. Copy the defaulttheme.jar (folder: \build\web\WEB-INF\lib) into a new folder (e. g. \mydefaulttheme) and rename it to mydefaulttheme.jar. Open mydefaultheme.jar with Winzip.
2.Extract all the files into the same folder (\mydefaulttheme). You get a folder com.
3. Open css_ie55up.css and css_master.css in \com\sun\rave\web\ui\defaulttheme\css with an editor of your choice, delete the whole content and save the empty files.
4. Right click the com folder, choose Add to Zip file and add the modified files to mydefaultheme.jar.
5. In JSC click Tools/Library Manager. Click New Library ... and choose the Library Type Theme Libraries. Give your theme a name and add it with the Add Jar/Folder Button. You have to set the Classpath and the Runtime.
6. Choose Projects/Themes. Right click your theme and choose Set As Current Theme.
7. Finally create your own style sheet file in the resources folder and add it to the page ...

Anyone who has the src of JavaTM Look and Feel Design (second edition)? It would be really appreciated to let me know.
    Thanks -

My bad, my post was unclear.
I wasn't sure what you meant by src. You clarified that point.
By (re)reading parts of the online text book, I realized that it's quite outdated. They really should issue a more up-to-date version.

  • Edit templates and change the look and feel of apex UI

    Hi Friends,
I am trying to change the look and feel of apex pages(change the alignment, color etc) and try to edit the template
of apex pages. Please give me links or tutorials that helps to accomplish this,
    Thanks,
    Tj

    Hello Tj,
You can spend some time on how to create your own Template, but it comes down to design your site in html and then break it into pieces and change the Templates in APEX with that html.
In that html you use tags e.g. #BOX_BODY# to tell APEX where the forms and reports need to come.
In the doc there are some explanations too: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#BABBFHJA
I think the best method is to just try it. Sure we give a course on that too, so it's up to you if you need training on that or the doc/your tries are sufficient or not.
Once you know how things work you can do pretty much everything.

    Dimitri

Below is the executable code generated using NetBeans which is enough to generate the error message. Sometimes you can get the error message just by running the program. Sometimes the error will occur when you go into the Menu and click on Item.

  • Look and Feel Issues from NWDS 7.0.9 on Windows 7

    Dear Experts,
I have successfully installed a new NWDS 7.0.9 on my 18' inch laptop:
      Windows 7 (64Bit)
      JDK 1.4.18 (32Bit)
The NWDS starts without any problems however, i am begining to experience some erratic behavior from the projects i have created.
For instance, when i attempt to Edit the Application  Properties for a WDJ project, the neccessary fields (and tabs) are not displayed hence i am unable to edit properties like the 'ExpirationTime' or create new one for that matter.
In some cases,i am unable to embed a View into a Window because the neccessary fields to aid my selection of the view i want to embed are not visible for interaction.
The same challenge occurs with EAR project; i am unable to edit 'application-j2ee-engine.xml' fields because they are not visible.
After some troubleshooting,i discovered that the screen resolution may be affecting the 'Look and Feel' of the NWDS itself,
If i reduced the resolution from 1024*768 to a value much more lower, some of these controls are displayed but with the desktop completely messed up.
Does anybody have a solution to my problem because this challenge is affecting my productivity?
Could my issue be as a result of my laptop screen size (i am using an 18'inch laptop)?
    Best regards,

    Hi Vishal,
first go to the download section in SMP.
Roughly follow this path (translated from german ;-):
SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> Further Download-Infos -> SAP Support Package Stacks -> SP Stack Download
From list select SP Stack SAP NetWeaver 2004s
A new window will pop up:
    1. Select your stack
    2. Usage Selection: Application Server Java
    3. Next Step
    4. Under SAP Kernel xx bit select your DB and OS
    5. Next Step
    6. You get a list of all components of you selected items.
Here you'll find NWDS with a filename like JIDE09P_1-10003480.SAR
    You know the rest, right?

if i run the following code,it displayes a dialog with missing title text
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;

                   e.printStackTrace();
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "done", "Confirmation Dialog for testing",
                        JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
in motif look and feel(system look and feel for solaris os)the dialog size is dependent on the message text length not on tilte text length.
whereas in other look and feel the dialog size is dependent on both message and title text length.I raisedn it in sun's bug but didnt get any reply. Can anyone tell how can it be fixed in jre level.
    Edited by: AGS_CONTACT on Jun 30, 2008 11:07 AM

It's not the answer you want to hear, but it's pretty simple:
Write your own JDialog subclass that implements the behavior you want. It should be pretty straightforward to write a JOptionPane message dialog clone.

  • Migrating sapgui look and feel settings of sapgui to new notebook.

    Hi,
We are migrating from XP to Vista and SAPGui 640 to 710. (new notebooks are assigned to the users)
I copied saplogon.ini to the new notebook to preserve the links to the servers.
Some users have customized the look and feel of their SAPGui.  How can I copy the settings of their SAPGui to the new notebook (like the visual design, color settings and font size that the user have set in their sapgui.)
    thanks,
    Roel

    Hello Roel,
The windows vista version itself gives a new dimension to the look and feel. So I guess nothing must have been editted on SAPGUI screen.
And more of SAP GUI 640 to 700 look and features are also different.
Kindly request you to check with the user who has changed and got the looks as you found on his screen.
If you are looking for the changed screen after SAP gui login, where the main screen appears.
Then I would suggest, you go through thsi link below -
    Change SAPGUI initial login screen

Do let me know if this resolved your issue.

  • [SOLVED] Java GTK look and feel

I opened a thread recently about replacing the ugly swing buttons in Java applications. After successfully modifying my ~/.bashrc, all was well. However, these new changes were only present when run from a terminal. I assumed it was because my desktop was still running a bash session that hadn't loaded the new options yet, so I restarted.
Symptom: Java apps launched from the GUI still have old swing buttons, but have the GTK look and feel when launched from a terminal.
    My .bashrc additions:
    # Java stuff
    export _JAVA_OPTIONS="-Dawt.useSystemAAFontSettings=on -Dswing.aatext=true -Dswing.defaultlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel -Dswing.crossplatformlaf=com.sun.java.swing.plaf.gtk.GTKLookAndFeel"
I use SLiM for a graphical login experience. Could this be affecting it? I'm not sure what happens differently behind the scenes when using a login manager other than that CTRL+ALT+F7 brings me to my GUI when I use one (because all 6 TTYs are still TTYs).

I had a similar issue where .xinitrc wasn't working to set an environment variable. I put mine in ~/.config/openbox/environment and it worked. If you run openbox try that. If using a different window manager maybe try /etc/environment I am unsure of how slim functions though maybe there are config files for it. I think slim is on it's way out though (already lacks some compatibility with systemd; they may fix it though upstream I have no idea). But yeah try the environment file way and see if that does it (assuming you have tested your command from the shell and it works how you want).

  • Bex Query WAD Iview - Look and feel.

I've put a query into a WAD and I've published the WAD as an ivew. But i want the look and feel to be "Corporate" and not use the SAP standard blues etc. I have created a custom them but when I preview the iview the query in the WAD is blue rather than the green I want and have used in my theme. I created a custom stylesheet and tried using &style_sheet in the Iview but the bulk of the query is still blue. I tried putting a line in the XTHML just below <HEAD> that said <link rel="STYLESHEET" type="text/css" href="&quot;bwmimerep:///sap/bw/MIME/customer/stylesheets/My_Theme_For_Portal.css" but that doesnt seem to work either. The bulk of the data displayed in the query remians blue. I just dont think it's referencing my stylesheet.
Any ideas? Help is much appreciated.
Edited by: Joel Yates on Mar 16, 2011 2:18 PM

    Joel,
What I would do is publish the WAD as a template in your system and then call your query like:
    ...?query=zbm_m001_q001&template=zmywad_temp
    or
make the default template that is called your WAD - zmywad_temp
    tcode - RSCUSTV27
    Customizing ID
    Broadcasting         0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE70
    Query Precalculation 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70
    Report Precalculat.  0REPORT_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING
    Enterpr. Report      0REPORT_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE
    Ad Hoc Analysis      0ANALYSIS_PATTERN
You can change 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN to zmywad_temp
Couple things to remember: in your new default template make it so all queries can use it and don't default it to a specific query unless you want you users to get a different look on that query.
Hope I'm understanding ur question correctly.
    Mike
