Ejb connect to remote jndi resource

Hi,
I want my ejb to connect to a jndi reource (in this case a jms topic) on another server (also AS7). I'm trying to use somthing like this:
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://remoteserver:3700");
ctx = new InitialContext(env);
tconFactory = (TopicConnectionFactory) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ctx.lookup(JMS_FACTORY),TopicConnectionFactory.class);
tcon = tconFactory.createTopicConnection();
tsession = tcon.createTopicSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
topic = (Topic) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ctx.lookup("jms/MyTopic"), Topic.class);
tpublisher = tsession.createPublisher(topic);
I get the following exception:
WARNING ( 2944): CORE3283: stderr: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound: IDL:omg.org/CosNaming/NamingContext/NotFound:1.0
Anyway, it throws the exception on the
ctx = new InitialContext(env);
So, if this is not the way to connect to a resource on another server, what's the correct way?

    Which linux distribution you are using, redhat? Maybe you need to open the 389 port from the inside firewall of redhat.

  • How to connect to remote EJB 3.0 deployed on Glassfish from ADF application

    Hello, as we haven't managed to deploy ADF app with EJB 3.0 on Glassfish AS, nor on tomcat 6 with openEJB, nor on JBOSS 5GA, we're trying to deploy our app with remote interface on tomcat 6. We're using ADF, JSF and EJB 3.0 (Eclipselink as JPA).

  • Need Advice: Accessing JNDI resource which uses configuration file

    Currently I have a class which has a constructor which takes a path to a configuration file. If I wanted to use this class as a JNDI resource what would be your advice when working with a configuration file? If an application was to use a remote JNDI resource I could see how this would be a problem. I understand how to do it I'm just not sure of the right way to do it. I guess I'm looking for best practices advice.

    Hello,
    Yes, you can use the API RessourceBundle to read configuration informations.
    Just create a propertie file with your locale, and access it to read informations :
    for example :
    you create a file config_fr_FR.properties (i'm french).
    for accessing your information ( strValue1 = aValue) :
    String ressource = null;
    try {
    ressource = ResourceBundle.getBundle("config",new Locale("fr","FR")).getString("strValue1"); // better is to create a static Locale... here just for the example.
    } catch(Exception e) {
    // ooops...
    return ressource; // return aValue
    Hope this help.

    Hi, Rick
    Thanks for your help.
    I deleted de application-client.xml file, added the following lines to the web.xml file:
         <ejb-ref>
              <ejb-ref-name>ejb/SessionEJB</ejb-ref-name>
              <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
              <remote>ar.com.eds.ejb3.model.SessionEJB</remote>
         </ejb-ref>
    and now I´m using oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory
    there is no error, and it doesn´t throw any exception but the following line returns null.
    SessionEJB sessionEJB = (SessionEJB)context.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/SessionEJB");
    Its seems the lookup method finds the remote ejb because it doesn´t fail, but it returns null.
    Any idea what is wrong?
    Mauricio.

  • SJSAS 9.1 does not expose EJB 3.0 remote Interface via JNDI

    I have successfully deployed a simple Stateful EJB 3.0 bean (CartBean, like the one in the Java EE 5 tutorial remote interface Cart) on SJSAS 9.1, located on machine host1.
    After I deployed the CartBean, I browsed the SJSAS and noticed the existence of the following JNDI entries:
    ejb/Cart
    ejb/Cart__3_x_Internal_RemoteBusinessHome__
    ejb/Cart#main.Cart
    ejb/mgmt
    ejb/myOtherEJB_2_x_bean ( +myOtherEJB_2_x_bean+ is a different 2.x bean that I have deployed as well)So, I am trying to access the remote interface of the CartBean from a remote machine, host2. The client application is a Java-standalone client.
    I am using the Interoperable Naming Service syntax: corbaname:iiop:host1:3700#<JNDI name>
    The problem is that the remote interface of the bean does NOT seem to be available via JNDI. I get the javax.naming.NameNotFoundException when I try to do a lookup like:
    corbaname:iiop:host1:3700#ejb/Cart
    On the other hand, the following lookups succeed:
    corbaname:iiop:host1:3700#ejb/mgmt
    corbaname:iiop:host1:3700#myOtherEJB_2_x_bean
    and also the following succeeds:
    corbaname:iiop:host1:3700#ejb/Cart__3_x_Internal_RemoteBusinessHome__So it seems like the Remote interface is not available via JNDI, rather only some internal SJSAS implementation (the object returned from the ejb/Cart__3_x_Internal_RemoteBusinessHome__ lookup is of type: com.sun.corba.se.impl.corba.CORBAObjectImpl
    Why is this happening? I know there used to be a bug in Glassfish, but I thought it had been fixed since 2006.
    Many thanks in advance, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The EJB 3.0 Remote Business references are not directly stored in CosNaming. EJB 3.0 Remote references do not have the cross-vendor interoperability requirements that the EJB 2.x Remote view had.
    You can still access Remote EJB references from a different JVM as long as the client has access to SJSAS naming provider. Please see our EJB FAQ for more details :

  • Looking up Managed ConnectionFactory by JNDI Resource-Ref

    Thank you in advance for your help...
    I'm writing an Enterprise Java Bean using WebLogic Workshop that needs
    to access a connection factory defined in a deployed Resource Adapter.
    I'm trying to access the server managed connection factory through the
    use of a resource-reference defined in the EJB file.
    The resource ref is defined in the EJB header:
    * @ejbgen:resource-ref
    * sharing-scope="Shareable"
    * auth = Container
    * jndi-name = Target_7
    * name = db/cf/Target
    * type = javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory
    * @ejbgen:session type="Stateless" default-transaction="NotSupported"
    * ejb-name = "UberPhoneBook"
    * @ejbgen:jndi-name
    * remote = "ejb.UberPhoneBookRemoteHome"
    * @ejbgen:file-generation remote-class = "true" remote-class-name =
    "UberPhoneBookRemote" remote-home = "true" remote-home-name =
    "UberPhoneBookHome" local-class = "false" local-class-name =
    "UberPhoneBookLocal" local-home = "false" local-home-name =
    "UberPhoneBookLocalHome"
    And the lookup is done in the EJB code:
    private void initialize() {
    if( this.initialized ) return;
    try {
    // Lookup the ConnectionFactory we should be using
    InitialContext initCntx = new InitialContext();
    ConnectionFactory cf = (ConnectionFactory) initCntx.lookup(
    "db/cf/Target" );
    this.conn = (Connection) cf.getConnection();
    this.initialized = true;
    } catch( Exception e ) {
    throw new EJBException(e);
    But I'm running into problems. My lookup results in a Name Not Found
    Exception, and I can't find my resource reference in the JNDI namespace.
    I'm using the bean in a JSP page, and it is declared in the usebean tag.
    Any ideas what my problem could be coming from?
    Thanks,
    Chris M.

              Hi!
              Did you deploy your rar file? Which jndi name has the connector?
              If you use a reference try "java:comp/env/" as prefix. Would be helpful if you
              cut the passage about the reference from your ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
              file and post it.
              CU

    Greetings,
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
    org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
    =================
    Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
    referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
    context.lookup
                        ( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
    Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Unable to start soa server with anonymous attempt to JNDI resource error

    I created a new outbound connection in my JMS Adapter deployment then I also created a new Foreign Server in my JMS Module that is deployed on my SOA server.
    Now when i try to restart my SOA server it is failing with the below exception.

    I have deleted the outbound connection as well as the new Foreign server but still when restarting I am getting the same error.
    How can I fix this?
    This is blocking me from doing my development work.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Can you check the config.xml of the domain and see if you are still having any references to the JNDI name you had used? If yes try removing the references manually and save the file and then restart the server. PLEASE TAKE A BACKUP OF THE config file before doing so.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • EJB lookup on Remote Server or different domain fails

    Hi,
    I am having two different domain (domain1,domain2) respectvely. My ABC.ear j2eee application is deployed on domain2 and its iiop port is 33703.In domain1 i have xyz.war (web application) and it's IIOP port is 3700 .In xyz.war i am having CallEJB.jsp file.In this Jsp file i want to lookup an EJB Service called PaymentEJB(JNDI Name is ejb/PaymentEJB).
    The code is below
    InitialContext context=new InitialContext();
    Object objRef=context.lookup("corbaname:iiop:andaman:33703#ejb/PaymentEJB");
    I am getting the following error.
    [#|2005-12-14T16:42:03.422+0530|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.resource.corba._DEFAULT_.rpc.transport|_ThreadID=11;|"IOP00410216: (COMM_FAILURE) Unable to create IIOP listener on the specified host/port: all interfaces/3700"

    at com.sun.corba.ee.impl.logging.ORBUtilSystemException.createListenerFailed(ORBUtilSystemException.java:2661)
    My doubt is
    1.While starting domain1 and domain2 iiop listeners are started on the port 3700 and 33703.in that case why EJB lookup tries to create listener on one more time.
    2.I am looking the 33703 port only.but it tries to create port on 3700 why?
    3.It was working till JES2005Q1.Is there any patch i need to install? or i need to change anything in my code.
    I am frustrated with this error for past one week.I will be happy if some body will give me the peace of mind(thru some solution).

    Hi
    I found the solution for this issue.
    To lookup the EJB applications in web component,we should not set any thing in the Initial Context.i.e the lookup should be
    InitialContext initContext=new InitialContext();
    Object objref = initContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/"+ejbName_);
    This will get you the Home object of the EJB you are looking.
    In your web.xml you should have the entry like below.(Just replace the ejbname which you are looking for)
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/GetAssertionEJB</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.ssertion.GetAssertionHome</home>
    <remote>com.assertion.GetAssertionRemote</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    In your sun-wb.xml,you should have the entry like below(Just replace the ejbname which you are looking for)
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/GetAssertionEJB</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>corbaname:iiop:<hostname>:<iiopport>#ejb/GetAssertionEJB</jndi-name>
    </ejb-ref>
    Hope this works.

  • External JNDI Resource

    hi
    I have a connection factory by name jms/MyQcf
    Destination Resource jms/MyQueue (property with name and physical destination)
    physical Destination PhysicalQueue
    When i run my MDB i am getting an error like
    SEVERE: Invalid Destination:`jms/MyQueue` for java:comp/env/jms/MyQueue
    For that i read in help that i have to create External Resources for my Connection Factory and the Queue. I dont know JMS. Can anyone tell me what External Resources i have to create and with what values (JNDI name, Resource Type, JNDI Lookup, Factory Class ) and do i have to create any properties.?
    Thanks for the help

    Hi,
    First of all, if you have queues and qcf available to the application server, you shouldnt be getting this error. Check your configuration. Make sure you have your descriptors correctly done. You DONT necessarily needs ex-jndi resources.
    External jndi resources are a way to bind remote reasources to the application server. e.g, if you have Queues and QCF created on Host H1 and application server on Host H2, how would you make them availabel to the application server. Simple, bind the resources to LDAP, configure the application server to lookup at that LDAP address to get hold of the Queues/QCFs. They are nothing but javax.namig.Reference objects.
    This is just a way to enable the application server to bind the objects transparently, no matter where they are.

  • Remote JNDI DataSource

    Hi,
    I tried to use a WLS 8.1 JNDI-bound DB2 DataSource from a standalone client.
    For JDBC this works, but for IBM's bound SQLJ it does not, WLS throws an
    NPE. From within WLS, a servlet or EJB, it always works.
    This posting
    (http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=600038044&tstart=0 )
    hints that it should not be possible to use a remote JNDI DataSource,
    whereas this Sun doc
    (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/jdbc/getstart/datasource.html
    ) states it should.
    So, do I try something, that should not work per specification, or do
    you guess that there is a bug in WLS's code or in IBM's SQLJ implementation?
    Thanks,
    J?rgen
    BTW: the http://forums.bea.com/ don't work neither with Firefox nor with
    IE at the moment.

    remove wlclient.jar from the client application's classpath and you should get a connection.

  • Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections?

    Hello Developers,
    I have developed a security web application using EJB,
    Jaas with customer provider
    I used DBSystemLogin module
    I want to fined a way that the EJB connection change each time when the user login.
    I used the HR as the main schema.
    I created three schemas that I want to use them as users:
    -Lina
    -Salem
    -Ahmad
    I granted Roles to users on hr tables.
    additional, created my own roles in data base and granted to my users:
    ADMINISTRATOR  Lina - can see all records
    EMPLOYEE Ahmad -can see the records added by this employee
    CUSTOMER  Salem - can see the records belongs to this customer
    In developer 10.1.3.3
    I created Order Entity been using HR database connection, created session been,
    Modified web.xml:
    -security roles["ADMINISTRATOR","EMPLOYEE","CUSTOMER"])
    -Loginconfig (Form-based authentication: login page, error page)
    -Security constraints: ord on /faces/Orders.jsp to ADMINISTRATOR,EMPLOYEE,CUSTOMER.
    I created Orders.jsp page contains order table.
    Now, I want that when the user login as Lina to switch the EJB database connection to Lina, so the displayed order table achieves ADMINISTRATOR roles that created in database,means opening database session for user Lina and use it.
    and so on for user salem and ahmad.
    Is there a way to do that? To use dynamic EJB connections? To achieve authentication based connection? to implement the user database roles on the client side? To specify the database connection at run time?
    That is possible using forms but I don’t want to use forms.
    I want to reed the roles from database according to the user.
    I hope to get answers soon,
    thanks.

    Does JNDI do this job?

  • Problem with creating Connection pool and JNDI, driver is not detected

    Hi,
    I have an issue with creating Connection Pool and JNDI.
    I'm using:
    - JDK 1.6
    - OS: Linux(ubuntu 8.10)
    - Netbeans IDE 6.5.1
    - Java EE 5.0
    - Apache Tomcat 6.0.18 Its lib directory contains all necessary jar files for Oracle database driver
    - Oracle 11g Enterprise
    My problem is that the Oracle database driver is not detected when I want to create a pool (it works pretty well and is detected without any problem when I create ordinary connection by DriverManager)
    Therefore after running:
    InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
    Context context = (Context)ic.lookup("java:comp/env");
    DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)context.lookup("jdbc/oracle11g");
    Connection connection = dataSource.getConnection();and right after dataSource.getConnection() I have the following exception:

    My application context file (context.xml) is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Context path="/WebApplication3">
      <Resource auth="Container"
                      driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"

                      username="scott"
                      password="tiger"
                      type="javax.sql.DataSource"
                      url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:database01" />
    </Context>and my web.xml is:
        <resource-ref>
            <description>Oracle Datasource example</description>
            <res-ref-name>jdbc/oracle11g</res-ref-name>
            <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
            <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
        </resource-ref>
    ...I found similar threads in different forums including sun, such as
    http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=567630&start=0&tstart=0

    , but no solution.
    As many suggest, I also tried to put context directly in the server.xml (instead of my application context) and referencing it by <ResourceLink /> inside my application context but it didn't work and instead it gave me the following message:
    org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '   ' for connect URL 'null'
    Has anyone succeeded in creating a connection pool with JNDI by using Tomcat 6 or higher ? If yes, could kindly explain about the applied method.
    Regards,

    Hello again,
    Finally I managed to run my application also with Tomcat 6.0.18. There was only two lines that had to be modified
    in the context.xml file (the context of my application project and not server's)
    Instead of writing
    <Context antiJARLocking="true" path="/WebApplication2">
        type="javax.sql.DataSource"
        factory="org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory"
    </Context>we had to write:
    <Context antiJARLocking="true" path="/WebApplication2">
        type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
        factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
    </Context>- No modification was needed to be done at server level (niether server.xml nor server context.xml)
    - I just added the ojdbc6.jar in $CATALINA_HOME/lib (I didn't even need to add it in WEB-INF/lib of my project)
    - The servlet used to do the test was the same that I presented in my precedent post.
    For those who have encountered my problem and are interested in the format of the web.xml and context.xml
    with Tomcat 6.0, you can find them below:
    Oracle server: Oracle 11g Enterprise
    Tomcat server version: 6.0.18
    Oracle driver: ojdbc.jar
    IDE: Netbeans 6.5.1
    The context.xml file of the web application
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Context antiJARLocking="true" path="/WebApplication2">
        <Resource name="jdbc/oracle11g"
                  type="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
                  factory="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSourceFactory"
                  url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:database01"
                  driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver"
                  userName="scott"
                  password="tiger"
                  auth="Container"
                  maxActive="100"
                  maxIdle="30"
                  maxWait="10000"
                  logAbandoned="true"
                  removeAbandoned="true"
                  removeAbandonedTimeout="60" />
    </Context>The web.xml of my web application
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd">

    </web-app>Ok, now I'm happy as the original problem is completely solved
