Ejb-jar.xml generation bug?

Hi,
I noticed that TopLink seems to forget the tag <primkey-field> and put java.lang.Object instead of Integer in the tag <prim-key-class>?
Is this an error from me?
Vlad

Hi,
For a JEE5 EJB module, rather than using EJBGen, you can use WLS specific annotations for configuring common settings. If you follow the link below, you can see a list of supported EJB annotations. Disregard the fact that the documentation section title is WebLogic Kodo Annotations. That is incorrect and I've filed a bug for it.
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/ejb30/annotations.html#wp1438036.
Unfortunately, we don't yet support setting all weblogic-ejb-jar.xml configuration values via annoations so in some cases a weblogic-ejb-jar.xml is still required.
You can hand edit your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml and the example you posted below should work fine.

  • Weblogic-ejb-jar.xml generation and editing question with JEE5 / EJB3

Since EJBGen only works with EJB 2.1, is there a way to auto-generate weblogic-ejb-jar.xml when using a JEE5 ejb module?
In the tooling like OEPE 11g, an EJB3 project will generate an empty deployment descriptor weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file if you mark it that way in the wizard, but it doesn't populate it with any values.
Is the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file is created/edited by hand, do the settings like this example still work or even make sense given the changes in the spec between 2.1 and 3.0?

    Hi,
I have faced same problem most of time and resolved ot by recompileing my all the classes and new deployment descriptors. First you should make new java files for all clases(copy contents fron old java files ) and make anew package same as old and then do all the required process and re deploy it. I think because of some problem in class generation.

  • ModelException when moving Activation properties for MDB to ejb-jar.xml

    Hi,
I have an MDB called BatchMdb that needs to be deployed into both JBoss and SAP NetWeaver. This means I have different activation config properties depending on the application server. So I cannot specify the properties by annotation, I have to place them in the ejb-jar.xml. It works fine in JBoss, but in the SAP IDE, I get this exception:
EJB Model Builder: Exception occurred: com.sap.engine.services.ejb3.model.impl.ModelException: There is no bean BatchMdb defined in module auth_app*annotation|src. at com.sap.engine.services.ejb3.model.impl.ModuleImpl.getBeanImpl(ModuleImpl.java:181)
For some reason, the IDE does not like the entry in ejb-jar.xml for the MDB. This looks like a bug to me. Comments, anyone?

  • Deploytool not deleting fields in ejb-jar.xml and sun-cmp-mappings.xml

Java(TM) 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4 SDK Developer Release deploytool
This situation was found on a simple, but original application using CMP EJB's. The database is MySQL using numeric id's and foreign keys.
I changed some fields in the database and went through the usual 14 attempts at getting deploytool to recognize a new schema without success. The one thing that is noticed is that when I tried to open the CMP display in the Entity selection the tool would not show any data, also it appears to lockup; however, if you select EJB in the choice box of the upper left you can get the view to close.
In desperation (mind you decoding machine generated XML is NOT my favorite activity) I looked at the descriptor viewer and notice fields existed in the descriptor that were deleted in the database. The tool had read the schema because the new fields were also present.
In sun-cmp-mappings.xml the old <cmp-field-mapping> definitions were still present. and in ejb-jar.xml the <query> and <cmp-field> were still present.
After deleting them out -- happy, happy, happy, joy, joy, joy. Deploytool accepted the new schema (keeping all the proper old stuff correctly. yea!!!) and a simple create mapping process brought the beans and database into sync.
I didn't want to report a bug, since I am actually new to EJB's so if anybody wishes to comment please do. I just wanted to provide a heads up in case this was something not noticed.
    BTW I'm a recent expert at EJB's anybody got a job? :-)

Have you tried to unmap your fields and relationships?
Go through all your enterprise beans in the CMP Database window and click Unmap All until the Persistent Field Mappings table is empty of mappings. Then click Create Database Mappings, select the new schema, and verify the fields and relationships were mapped. This should clear out any old field mappings.

  • Weblogic 7 SP2 - problem in ejb-jar.xml

    Hi,
I have a problem when trying to move from Weblogic 7 to 7 SP2. In some of our
ejb-jar.xml descriptors we have something like the following:
    <!ENTITY ENTITY_PROP SYSTEM "Config/entity_config.txt">
then used this later on in the descriptor:
    <env-entry-value>&ENTITY_PROP;</env-entry-value>
In all previous versions this would work fine with the Config directory sat in
the domain directory but when we are trying to move to SP2 the ejb's are failing
at deployment time with errors like:
    weblogic.xml.process.XMLParsingException: File "zip://C/bea/user_projects/mydomain/myserver/.wlnotdelete/ScanServer/MkpCodeServerEJB.jar!/META-INF/Config/entity_config.txt"
not found. - with nested exception:
    [org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: File "zip://C/bea/user_projects/mydomain/myserver/.wlnotdelete/ScanServer/MkpCodeServerEJB.jar!/META-INF/Config/entity_config.txt"
    not found.].....
What has changed? What can I do to solve the problem?
    thank you,
    Ian

    Hi,

  • Can not make force-update="true" in orion-ejb-jar.xml

if you make force-update="true" in the orion-ejb-jar.xml, even a simple entity bean can not be deploy to oc4j 9.0.3.
can anybody tell me if it is a bug?
Auto-deploying file:/D:/testdir/fromdbms/Project1/classes/ (No previous deployment found)... Country_EntityBeanWrapper2.java:1567: unclosed string literal
    if(com.evermind.server.ApplicationServer.DEBUG) debug("update COUNTRY set CODE = ?, NAME = ? where UNIQUEID = ?
    ^
    Country_EntityBeanWrapper2.java:1568: ')' expected
    PreparedStatement statement = connection.getCustomStatement("update COUNTRY set CODE = ?, NAME = ? where UNIQUEID = ?");
    ^

I use jdeveloper 903 version to create only one entity bean, and set the force-update=true in the orion-ejb-jar.xml, when verify it, it is ok, when deploy it to the oc4j 903 version, it throws error message.
you may try it using jdeveloper 9.0.3 version.

  • I18n, ejb-jar.xml ejbc and DOCTYPE

We are creating java classes on the fly and are hot deploying them via Ant. Using basic Ascii characters, this is all fine. However, when we use international characters, like the Danish ?, the Ant script blows up because it cannot understand that character with the default encoding of UTF-8. When I then change the descriptors to UTF-16, Ant compiles file, but I get the following error from the ejbc:
    build:
[ejbjar] building DEPLOYABLE_Ttt??.jar with 7 files
[ejbc] ERROR: Error processing 'META-INF/ejb-jar.xml': XML document does not appear to contain a properly formed DOCTYPE header
    [ejbc] ERROR: ejbc found errors
I appear to be in a catch-22 situation. Does anyone know the way out??

    Hi,
For a JEE5 EJB module, rather than using EJBGen, you can use WLS specific annotations for configuring common settings.

  • Can't create EJB from existing .java AND ejb-jar.xml entries

I've noticed that I can create the source files for an EJB outside of JDeveloper, then I can do the "Create Entity Bean" thing, and specify the path to the source files, and it will use those source files, instead of forcing me to create them again.
However, I've noticed that if I manually add the information to the "ejb-jar.xml" file, and then try to add the bean, it won't let me. I've found I have to delete the entry from the ejb-jar.xml file and let JDeveloper control the creation of the fields, even if I know exactly what needs to be set.

If you are adding/modifying ejb-jar.xml outside JDeveloper and trying to see the changes.
Save the ejb-jar.xml file which is being modified externally
    Select ejb-jar.xml in JDeveloper
    and do View | Refresh
This will load in the changes (providing the source path has been set properly)

  • Problem deploying connector: META-INF/ejb-jar.xml not found in jar file

              Has anyone seen this problem:
I built Sun's Blackbox implementation and packaged
it identical to the BlackBoxNoTx.rar included with
Weblogic's 'jconnector' sample (even using the same
ra.xml and weblogic-ra.xml). When I try to deploy
              it, the server reports:
              java.io.FileNotFoundException:
META-INF/ejb-jar.xml not found in jar file
I have no idea why the server thinks my connector
is an EJB. If I deploy the BlackBoxNoTx.rar included
with the sample, everything works without a hitch.
The only variable that I'm changing in my BlackBoxNoTx.rar
is that I build the Blackbox classes myself--otherwise,
the RAR packagings are identical. Any assistance is
greatly appreciated since I'm banging my head against
              a wall...
              Thanks,
              -jason

I was finally able to resolve this one. On the odd chance that someone else encounters
the same problem, here's what went wrong:
My RAR file had two directories: 'META-INF' and 'meta-inf'. The first was created
by the jar tool and contained the manifest.mf file. The second I created manually
and it contained my ra.xml and weblogic-ra.xml. When I examined the RAR using
any tools or I extracted the contents, it looked like it only contained one directory:
              META-INF (because NT is case-insensitive).

  • How to use multiple ejb-jar.xml files

    Hello -
If the project you work on has a lot of beans that you need to configure them in one ejb-jar.xml file. Then ejb-jar.xml file will be getting bigger and bigger. I am wondering if there is any way to divide the ejb-jar.xml file into multiple sub ejb-jar.xml files and then combin them together when deploy it. Same question question for the vendor ejb-jar.xml like weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
    Thanks!
    Ben

    HI Ben,
No, there is no notion of combining ejb-jar.xmls at deployment time in Java EE. There is no
set limit on the number of ejb components within an ejb-jar module either.

  • Stateless session Bean - xml and ejb-jar.xml file ???

    Dear Experts,
    Stateless-session bean
    For Creating an ear file
we need ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml files
Is these files are already available
or we have to type these files ??
    Advance Thanks

My best advice: surrender to use an IDE.
You wonder sometimes at how much productivity (read as 'time') could be wasted by doing something that could be done automatically. For a learning experience or a once only exercise is fine but as a routine thing, not worth it.

    Hello,
The warning message looks to be unrelated to the java.lang.IllegalArgumentException error. The warning states that optimistic locking cannot be migrated to the toplink-ejb-jar.xml file; this is stated in chapter 7 of the TopLink developer's guide at
    http://download-west.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/toplink/1013/MAIN/_pdf/b13593_v1_01.pdf
The exception though seems to indicate that your orion-ejb-jar.xml contains EJBs mapped to the same table that are not related through EJB inheritance. I do it all the time with POJOs so this will work in TopLink, but you will need a support case to help get your project migrated if this is the case.
    Best Regards,
    Chris Delahunt
