EJB QL "unexpected token: ( " Exception with IN operator and AND operator
Hey everyone,
Hopefully someone can help me. I am just starting to write more complex queries with EJB QL and am running into an issue. When I run my query I get an "Internal Exception: line 1:87: unexpected token: (" Exception below is my query with acording to the sun references I have managed to find looks right. Here is my query:
SELECT OBJECT(e) FROM Period e, IN (e.myScorecardItem.cyclesList) t WHERE current_date() BETWEEN e.startDate AND e.endDate AND t.id =?1
I have removed the portion with the IN navigation and it works fine, and I have removed the conditional statement and left the IN portion and that works fine but I can not get the to work together. Here is my bean relationships: Cycles have ScorecardItems have Periods. I am trying to find all the Periods that fall within a certain cycle. Any direction or help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Justen
It's not inherently bad - but it does depend on the optimizer getting good estimate of the data volume.
Did you test with 200 distinct values in your IN list, and can you see in the execution plan Oracle estimate of how many rows the subquery would generate.

TO_DATE function with JPA, Getting Unexpected Token error
I am constructing a search query like this from my JAVA code
SELECT * FROM EMAIL_PROXY_ERROR_LOG WHERE (to_date((REPLACE (DATETIME,'T',':')),'yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss') BETWEEN to_date('2008-04-29:11:30:08','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss') AND to_date('2008-04-30:11:30:02','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss'))
I am using Toplink Essentials and I get the following error while running, what would be a possible solution
Exception Description: Syntax error parsing the query [select c FROM EmailProxyErrorLog c WHERE to_date((REPLACE (c.dateTime,'T',':')),'yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss') BETWEEN to_date('2008-04-26:11:30:08','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss') AND to_date('2008-04-30:11:30:02','yyyy-mm-dd:hh24:mi:ss')], line 1, column 42: unexpected token [to_date].

The JPQL dies not define a to_date function, which is why it will throw an exception when parsing the query string. You will need to use a native query for this if you need to convert database fields to dates for comparison.

Thanks Rahul$This may be a bit late and perhaps not even relevant but I came across this post when trying to solve an issue I had with a powershell script in Orchestrator. Maybe it will help you, or maybe it will help someone else.
I was trying to create a connector between SCOM and our ticketing system. I wanted to export alert descriptions and in the process of testing I came across an alert description that had multiple lines and all kinds of crazy formatting. When I tried to assign
the Published Data to a varialbe in my powershell script i would get an error "Unexpected token [a partial alert description] in expression or statement.". After looking at the actual alert description data and seeing that i was only getting some of it
and not all of it it dawned on me that i somehow needed to escape out of all the crazy quoting, carriage returns, and special characters. to do that i assigned the Published Data to a variable in my powershell script as follows:
$Description = @"
{Description from "Get Alert"}
Apparently the @" "@ is called a here-string. Somewhat interesting. Hope it helps you or someone else! -
I am having problems saving documents back to SharePoint when any of the document properties (metadata columns) are set to be "managed metadata". The check-in/save fails with error:

I have seen similar threads that suggest this is a known issue with this version of Acrobat but I would like conformation from Adobe that this is a known issue and whether it is fixed in a newer version?
Adobe Acrobat version 10.1.13
SharePoint 2010Hi quodd,,
We are sorry for the issue being faced by you. I need some information from you so that I take further steps:
1. Which Adobe product are you using Acrobat or Adobe reader- what is the complete version?
2. How are you opening and saving the PDF, the exact workflow?
Are you doing it from within Adobe Reader/Acrobat application or opening it from browser, doing changes and saving it using browser itself.
3. Can you try to save a PDF to library with Custom template and managed metadata columns using browser directly.
4. Please verify that columns name do not contain spaces or some other special characters.
Can you try to save PDF to library with Custom template and just a single managed metadata column with a simple name

Unexpected exception with file: java.lang.NullPointerException
Hi :)
Still a Newbee
Geting the message Unexpected exception with file: java.lang.NullPointerException
Have traced the error down with the use of System.out.println(a sequential number); but having got it down to bReader.close();, I think, I'm not understanding why. I think it has something to do with the line while (text != null){
Don't fully understand yet as a newbee, but one can only learn. Like my other error (I once spent six hours on a pair of {}!!!! we all learn) I've spent two evenings now resarching and trying to solve this, so a bit of help would be very much appreciated.
Error occurs after System.out.println(7);
Code
private void initialiseData()
String text;
int size;
try
File file = new File("needleData.txt");
FileReader fReader = new FileReader(file);
BufferedReader bReader = new BufferedReader(fReader);
text = bReader.readLine(); // Read the first line to get the number of needles stored
size = Integer.parseInt(text);

Java.sql.SQLException: Unexpected token: IN in statement
I use Toplink 2.0-b41-beta2 (03/30/2007) and have a problem with the following JPQL query:
“SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(e) FROM Entry e WHERE e.location IN (SELECT loc From View v JOIN v.viewLocs vl JOIN vl.location loc where v.code = :code)”
“Entry” is a subclass of “TrainElement”, location points to Entity Location. Entity View has a one-to-many relationship to ViewLoc whereas each ViewLoc has a relationship to a Location object.
Toplink creates the following incorrect sql statement – I inserted some CRLF for better readability::
Local Exception Stack:
Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0 (Build b41-beta2 (03/30/2007))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException

bind => [ROMAN W-Pb, ENT]
There sould be a “t0.ENT_LOC_ID” before the IN in the WHERE clause and the implicit join “ID FROM TRAINELEMENT t0, LOCATION t1” seems incorrect to me. At any rate the database (HSQLDB) rejects that incorrect sql statement.
How can I circumvent that problem?
A add the relevant mapping part of the involved classes.
@Entity
@DiscriminatorValue("ENT")
public class Entry extends TrainElement implements IEntry {
@ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
@JoinColumn(name = "ENT_LOC_ID", nullable = true)
private Location location;
@Entity
@Table(name = "LOCATION")
public class Location implements ILocation {
// persistent part
// primary key field
@Id
@GeneratedValue
@Column(name = "LOC_ID")
private Long id;
@Column(name = "LOC_CODE", nullable = false)
private String code;
@Column(name = "LOC_NAME", nullable = false)
private String name;
@Entity
@EntityListeners(EntityListener.class)
@Table(name = "VIEW")
public class View implements IView {
// persistent
// primary key field
@Id
@GeneratedValue
@Column(name = "VIEW_ID")
private Long id;
@OneToMany(mappedBy = "view", cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
private List<ViewLoc> viewLocs = new ArrayList<ViewLoc>();
@Entity
@Table(name = "VIEWLOC")
@EntityListeners(EntityListener.class)
public class ViewLoc implements IViewLoc {
// persistent fields
// primary key field
@Id
@GeneratedValue
@Column(name = "VIEWLOC_ID")
private Long id;
@ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
@JoinColumn(name = "VIEWLOC_VIEW_ID", nullable = false)
private View view;
// direct Linking to the infrastrucutre location
@ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
@JoinColumn(name = "VIEWLOC_LOCACTION_ID")
private Location location;
….IN doesn't support objects, only state_field_path_expression that must have a string, numeric, or enum value.
Try using
“SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(e) FROM Entry e WHERE e.location.id IN (SELECT loc.id From View v JOIN v.viewLocs vl JOIN vl.location loc where v.code = :code)”

Unexpected internal Exception (RelatchRequiredException)
Hi,
I have recently upgraded to version 5.0.34 and was testing our application when I saw the following error:
com.sleepycat.je.EnvironmentFailureException: (JE 5.0.34) com.sleepycat.je.utilint.RelatchRequiredException UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION: Unexpected internal Exception, may have side effects.
at com.sleepycat.je.EnvironmentFailureException.unexpectedException(EnvironmentFailureException.java:286)
at com.sleepycat.je.tree.BIN.fetchTarget(BIN.java:1268)
at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.checkForInsertion(Cursor.java:3006)
at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.retrieveNextAllowPhantoms(Cursor.java:2926)
at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.retrieveNextNoDups(Cursor.java:2789)
at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.retrieveNext(Cursor.java:2763)
at com.sleepycat.je.Cursor.getNext(Cursor.java:1116)
As a rough overview, the application has many threads (transactionally) inserting and removing into three separate tables. Commits are non synchronous (i.e. Transaction.commitNoSync() is being used). A separate thread regularly calls Environment.flushLog(true).
I've only seen this once so far, when the application was under very heavy load...
Any ideas?
Cheers,
RobOK... I've been doing some more testing and have some more information.
Firstly I have seen this a few more times though by no means is this particular error easily reproducable.
I have determined that it occurs on both jdk 1.7.0 and 1.6.0_26 (both linux, 64bit) as I wanted to rule out jdk 1.7 as a factor.
Since I had never seen this error when using v4.x of BDB I looked at the code change I hade made simultaneous with the upgrade, namely that previously in order to synchronously flush the asyncronoush transaction commits to disk I was calling Environment.sync() whereas with v5.0.34 I was calling Environment.flushFlog(true) (since this had demonstrated better performance and covered exactly the use case that I desired).
After switching this code back to sync() I could not reproduce the issue. Moreover neither did I see any of the other perplexing errors that I had been investigating (see below).
The part in my code where the error was occuring is the only place where cursors are actively used. All other transactional activity is either single record inserts, or single record deletes drived by a unique key. In the area of the code where I saw this exception being thrown, looks somewhat like this:
DatabaseEntry value = new DatabaseEntry();
value.setPartial(0, 0, true);
cursor = database.openCursor(tx, null);
status = cursor.getSearchKeyRange(key, value, LockMode.RMW);
while (status == OperationStatus.SUCCESS)
keyObject = binding.entryToObject(key);
if(keyObject.getId() != id)
break;
else
status = cursor.delete();
status = cursor.getNext(key, value, LockMode.RMW);
cursor.close();
tx.commitNoSync();
Where the idea is that the actual primary key for the table is a compound of (id,number), and we start the cursor from the key (id,0) and delete all entires until we find an entry with a different id.
Now as it happens, for the test I am running I know that there will only ever be at most one entry of the form (id, 0).
And if I change the code to remove the cursor, and instead just do a straight delete operation on the database, I again see no errors.
The other thing to note is that in addition to the Unexpected Internal Exception described above, I was seeing far more frequent LockTimeout exceptions... moreover backing off and retrying the transactions didn't seem to work - the locks seemed to be permanently locked. These timeouts also only occurred in the above part of my code, and not in any of the other transactions it was performing.
After changing to use Environment.sync() (rather than flushLog), or after removing the cursor (but keeping flishLog) these lock timeout exceptions also went away.
Finally I was seeing an even stranger (to me) error... Occaisionally my tests seemed to be completing fine, but when I came to shut down my process, closing the environment was reporting that some transactions were still uncommitted. Again - the only instances were from the transactions involving the cursor above. Now as above the only way that you can get through that code without committing is (AFAICT) by some method throwing an exception... and I was seeing no such exceptions reported.
Once again, either changing from flushLog(true) to sync(), or replacing the cursor with a straight delete stopped these issues from occurring.
So, in summary I was seeing a number of weird behaviours that only seemed to occur when I was using a cursor to delete records from my database, and when I was using flushLog() to flush the log records to disk.
Hope this is helpful... If there's anything more I can do to help you debug this issue, please let me know,
Cheers,

I upgraded to Yosemite, and now Safari will not even load. It immediately goes to the "quit unexpectedly" error window, with the following information (which means nothing to me, of course). I've seen others posting issues like this, but have yet to see a solution. Apparently I cannot just reinstall Safari, so do I need to figure out how to uninstall the upgrade and try again? Is this worth it, or should I just uninstall and go back to my prior OS until Apple can provide a clean upgrade? Anyone know the answers?

One of my external hard drives died. I had several iPhoto libraries in it. Fortunately, I used Time Machine to backup to a Time Capsule and I can see all the iPhoto library icons in Backups.
When restoring the first iPhoto library, after three hours, I got an "unexpected error" message and the operation could not be completed. Indeed, the restored library is smaller than the library in Backups. Is my best choice to try again and replace the restored library (which apparently must be missing some photos)? It would mean another 3 hours plus of restoration with fingers crossed...
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!I am always suspicious of using a different OS to the one that was used to run the backup.. ie if you used Snow L to backup then there is absolutely nothing wrong with using SL to restore.
Mount the TC sparsebundle and verify it using disk utility.
A5 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
You might also like to load the widget in Time Machine so you get whatever the full error message is..
I cannot find any reference to the error code you are getting..
My recommendation would be to try it on a different computer.. restore the whole backup to an external drive large enough to accept the whole backup.
Use the manual methods pondini recommends.

Deployed EJB.jar has some classes with zero bytes
Has anyone hit a situation where Windows Jdev 902 puts class files into the ....EJB.jar file with zero bytes? In my case, the eight zero length classes are: seven My...Row.class files and the MyApplicationModule.class file. They all are in the /mypackage/common/ package and are in the ...classes/mypackage/common/ file folder.
I can use PKZIP to delete the zero length classes and add them back into the .jar and everything works as expected.
There are no error messages generated during the deployment that creates the .jar file that has the problem.This was posted on another thread by jdev team...
We have been following this issue in support TAR 2274825.996. I sent some technical detail to the support rep on July 10, but it looks like that information never got added to the TAR. Well, FWIW, here it is:
The user may be running out of open files. The
stdio library which underlies Win32 programs (like the JVM) has a
limit on the number of files that can be open concurrently. The
limit is around 2000-2100 open files (I tested this on NT, 2000, and
XP), and the limit is on a per-process basis. If the user is running
into this limit because JDev has too many open files, then the utility
methods we use to open JAR files or other streams could be receiving
a java.io.FileNotFoundException exception with the message "Too many
open files". To verify this: go to the Windows Task Manager, go to
View | Select Columns... and be sure the "Handle Count" checkbox is
checked. Does the jdev.exe process have a disproportionately higher
number of handles than other processes? If the Handle Count is above
2000 (approx), JDev might be running out of open files. (I say "might" because
the Handle Count is for many different kinds of Win32 kernel objects,
not just for file handles.) If the Handle Count is the problem, then
it would explain the transient, nondeterministic behavior that the
user is reporting. Because the Handle limit is per-process, it would
explain why the user is able to use PKZIP or WinZip to repair the JAR
file. Try closing editors before deploying and see if that helps.
If the user confirms that the Handle Count is excessive, then we may
have a Handle leak of some kind in the product that will need to be
fixed.
Also try running JDev using "jdev -hotspot" on the command line instead
of just "jdev" and see if the behavior changes.
Hope that helps. We are monitoring the TAR, but no one has been able to reproduce the problem you are reporting, even with the files attached to the TAR, and yours is the only report so far that we've received about this specific problem.
I have added several more entities and views into app module. As I added each one, the list of zero byte jar classes would change, but always about 7-8 bad ones. Now that I am no longer adding new entities/views, the problem has become stable and repeatable. The same classes ALWAYS show up with zero bytes.
I monitored jdevw.exe while doing the deploy, and the number of handles never went above 675. I ran with jdevw.exe -hotspot and the results were exactly the same.
thanks,

BUG?: unexpected token in connection pane for cursor declaration
If I declare a cursor with an order clause in the declaration part of a procedure in a package I will get the unexpected token. The code compiles without errors.
SQL Developer 15.57.
Windows XP SP2
Oracle 10g
example:
declare procedure test( param in integer ) as
cursor cur( nVal in integer ) is
select * from tab where col1 = nVal
order by col2;
begin
NULL;
end test;
If I comment out the order by line and proper end the line before all is OK in connection pane.There are a few issues logged for these unexpected tokens. We will be reviewing this section for 1.1.
