Electronic .pdf into wordpress

I created an electronic .pdf with adobe acrobat 8 pro.  How can I upload the electronic .pdf into a Wordpress page.  I uploaded it using Embed PDF plugin but it lost all of it's electronic functionality.  Please help, am on a deadline?

Thanks CtDave.  Unfortunately the person getting the form containing email knows very little about computers.  He just wants to get his results emailed to him in a .pdf format so he can take it and put it in each clients file.
Does anyone know if there is a configurable electronic contract form that we can put on our Wordpress site that the user can fill out the form and it will email results to us in .pdf format?

  • Electronic PDF Submit - extend.dat file ??

Hi, I am a website designer and this part of my job feels out of my league.
My clients assigned me to convert a hard copy PDF into an electronic PDF document that can be filled out on the computer, saved, and then directly sent to the recipient.
I used the Adobe Designer feature on Acrobat 8 Professional to get me going. Due to the less than sophisticated style of the document I had to work with, it wouldn't create and convert the text boxes and fields for me automatically as it usually would.... so I had to set up everything manually by creating the boxes and naming the fields.
My manual set-up went smooth, I added my submit buttons and plugged in the e-mail addresses this document is to be sent to, and after running several tests, I keep getting this error message:
"An extension failed to initialize. Can't open file: extend.dat The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open in another program. Right click the folder that contains the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. You don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation."
Now what's strange is that the clients ran this document test themselves and were able to fill it out have it process, and then send it to the recipient's e-mail address. However, they came back to tell me that an XML file was bad...... no idea what that is..... Because they were at least able to send, I'm assuming they have Outlook express unlike me.
I am new to making these types of documents. I have no idea what this error message means, what the extension file is and where it can be located, or how it relates to how my document was created. Neither do I know what the XML file does or how data can appear clearly when an e-mail is received.
When I created this form into electronic format, I was under the impression that if someone were to fill out this document with Acrobat, save it, and then submit to e-mail, the entire filled out document would be sent out as a PDF of its own....... I'm hoping that can somehow happen, but obviously that isn't happening here.
    Help and ideas.... Thanks.

There are several issues that come to mind. However, the biggest is the use of e-mail for this form. My comment on e-mail is due to what appears to be in the content of the e-mail that would not normally be acceptable for private information. If that is indeed the case, can the e-mail and submit to a web server. The latter can then be e-mailed locally if you really desire from a webmail script. You get around all of the problems with e-mail clients this way (and there are many problems that often crop up and are related to the client machine configuration).
It also appears that this would be used regularly and thus the number of submissions of the full PDF would violate the Adobe license. So you should submit the data (XML for Designer and FDF for Acrobat -- I suggest FDF). The data can be imported to the form through the forms>manage data interface in Acrobat.
If you want to try AcroForms, open the original PDF (not the one from Designer) and use Forms>Run Form Field Recognition. You can then use the forms edit in Acrobat rather than Designer. Again, I would suggest using the FDF data submission. You might try the e-mail submission here again, but I suspect it will fail as before. Generally this is a client setup issue on the e-mail package and the interface. With AA8 you have to use MAPI for the interface and this is problematic. I have some machines on which it will work and others that I have never been successful with. That is why I recommend avoiding e-mail for this use.
Also, be aware that MAC users using the MAC preview may have problems with the form and submission. That is just a heads up, but I am not a MAC user and can't say much more.

  • I am trying to drag and drop one page of a .pdf into another .pdf in Acrobat Reader.  I used to be able to drag and drop from one .pdf to another.

I am trying to drag and drop one page of a .pdf into another .pdf in Acrobat Reader.  I used to be able to drag and drop from one .pdf to another.

If you could drag and drop pages before, it wasn't in Reader. You no doubt had Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) which shouldn't be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader. They recently added Acrobat to the name of Adobe Reader so the confusion about which product you had and/or have is understandable.

it seems my subscription had expired so I signed up again.. It was still having trouble so I repeated the sign up process again.. Then it worked perfectly.. Unfortunately, I think I just subscribed twice and need to cancel one of them. Ugh. Such a pain when I'm trying to get this project completed. I'll be canceling at least one of the subscriptions in the morning. Adobe is not my favorite company right now. None of this was intuitive. And trying to get help was an absolute waste of an hour.

    Just use Drop Box instead.

  • Combining Contents of 2 PDFs into a single page PDF

I need to combine elements of two different PDFs into one, single page PDF.
One PDF is Template of sorts with headers to be edited, the other PDF is a non-ocr scan that includes text and images.
I've found no way to copy and paste on a single page b.t two PDFs. I've tried pasting into an inserted page and then dragging it up or cutting and pasting within the document (with the intention of deleting the unneeded second page) with no luck.
This seems like it should be such a no brainer. Open 1st PDF, Open 2nd PDF, make selection Ctrl C, go to 1st PDF, place cursor where desired, Ctrl V.   But it doesn't work at all in an intuitive way like any other document program where you can cut and paste with ease b/t documents and even b/t programs.
So instead, I've copied the part of the image PDF I want into the original word doc of the template, then created a PDF from that.  However, when I try to tell Acrobat to make the entire document OCR, it tells me it can’t b/c it contains renderable text (the header information, I’m assuming).  If I run the OCR on a PDF containing just the image, it does it no problem.
What is the best way to bring these two documents together in way that results in a single page, completely searchable PDF?

Unfortunately, another $700 software purchase is not in the cards and I can’t wrap my mind around why it should be necessary.  It seems so nonsensical to me that Acrobat has all these advanced functions for editing, combining, making portfolios etc., yet can not perform the simple task of cutting and pasting between two documents.
While Adobe support was putting me on hold, I doodled up some generic sample documents that I could upload here to illustrate the problem. Hopefully, someone can play with these and give me a workable solution.
The first PDF, Original Acme Clip, represents the file that is provided to me by our clipping service. They cut the item out of a magazine, put the customized info into their standard template in whatever word processing program they use, printed it out, pasted the magazine clip to that page and then scanned the hard copy to PDF-as an image only PDF, it is not optimized for optical character recognition and is not searchable.
The second PDF, Final Acme PDF, represents the file that our workflow eventually ends up as-a PDF containing only the info we want, formatted as we want, in which both the headers and clip content are searchable. To get there currently, we print out the Original ACME Clip, type the relevant info into the headers of a Word template that includes our logo and standard footer, print out the Word template page, manually cut out the scanned image from the PDF, and paste it onto the template paper.  The resulting paper is scanned into the Final Acme PDF and OCR is run on the whole thing to make it all searchable.
What we’d like to do is skip all the printing, and manual cutting and pasting. Any and all suggestions for work in Acrobat 9 Pro to do this would be gratefully appreciated!

  • Trying to convert a multipage PDF into multilayered PSD. Automatically, not one by one - manually. Please help!

as per title - i have a multipage PDF that i want to transfer into a multilayered PSD.
not one by one - but automatically.
my attempts of recording a set of actions failed.
    Please help.

This would likely need Scripting at least.
But like station_two indicated people might feel more inclined to help if the necessity for the process were clearer.
And converting pdfs into pixel images is often a bad choice.

  • Cannot EMBED PDF into Office

When trying to EMBED a pdf into Office 2010 (Powerpoint, excel, word, etc), i get an error that Acrobat.exe cannot be found. We have Adobe Reader X and Adobe Writer X installed. When I open Adobe Reader X and try to EMBED the pdf, it works fine, but with Adobe Reader closed, it gives Acrobat.exe error. We have an application that allows/denies access to certain application, due to licensing, not all users are allowed to run Acrobate Writer, but it is installed. We need to figure out why with Reader Closed, Acrobat Writer is being called from Office embeding. i already checked the Acro.Exch.Document and Acro.Exch.Document.7 keys and they are set for Reader.

You have two apps installed both offering the same OLE classes, but one with a more complete implementation. I wouldn't like to speculate how Windows arbitrates between them, but it isn't likely to consider issues such as licensing. I wouldn't expect this to fully work.

  • Embed PDF into Website

Is there a way to embed a pdf into a adobe muse website?
    It should have 100% width/height.
Somehow the size are not handled properly.
Its only a small strip no matter what sizes i put in the code.
    Code examples:
    <object data='http://www.johanna-etienne-krankenhaus.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Somatik/johanna-etienne-kr ankenhaus.de/verlinkte_Dateien/Orthopaedie/Newsletter/JEK_Ortho_Newsletter_09-03.pdf#'
            type='application/pdf'
            width='100%'
            height='100%'>
<p>It appears your Web browser is not configured to display PDF files.
No worries, just <a href='http://www.johanna-etienne-krankenhaus.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Somatik/johanna-etienne-kr ankenhaus.de/verlinkte_Dateien/Orthopaedie/Newsletter/JEK_Ortho_Newsletter_09-03.pdf'>click here to download the PDF file.</a></p>
    Another way:
    <embed src=".../linktofile.pdf" width="100%" height="100%">
Any other solutions, that could work properly?

Ok, i have figured out now, how the pdf will be shown in the browser. You have to define the MIME type in the .htaccess file.
The .htaccess has to have this code-line:
    AddType application/pdf .pdf

  • To store PDF into BLOB and retrieve into OLE/OCX

    We would like to:
    1. Store a PDF file (output of a report saved in file server) into a BLOB
    column.
    2. Retrieve previously stored PDF in the BLOB column and display using either
OLE automation or ActiveX (OCX) control.
I read all related documents in metalink that addresses this issue however cant
get this to work. We have Acrobat Reader 4.0. Here are some issues from the
    tests that I did:
    1. To load the PDF file the program code that uses BFILE and LOADFROMFILE does
not work since the database is on a remote server and the PDF file is on a
local file server. The DIRECTORY created on the database is unable to find the
    PDF file.
    2. Though I want the loading of the file to be programmatic, I tried
right-click on the OLE container and inserted object from file. This loaded the
file into the container (Icon on the container appeared) however I was not able
to view the document by double-clicking. An error in Adobe occured: 'There was
an error opening this document. A file read error occured'. My guess is the
'Insert Object' did not insert the file properly into the BLOB.
    3. When trying to display the PDF file stored in file server (in case storing
into BLOB does not work), I used an OCX control, right-clicked and Insert
Object and select Adobe Control for ActiveX. The problem here is when I run the
form, the OCX control shows up empty and I have to 'Insert Object' again in
runtime. Once I manually insert object from runtime the GET_INTERFACE POINTER &
SET_PROPERTY works fine is displaying the document. Is there any way to
maintain the control property of the OCX when the form is run?
    4. Are there any workarounds and better solution to store PDFs into BLOBs and
retrieve and display in OLE/OCX controls? Using temporary file into local drive
    is not an issue.
    5. Would I be able to make use of 'PDF.PdfCtrl.1' OLE class?
    6. Does OLE automation work for Acrobat Reader 4.0.?
I would appreciate all the help.
    Shyam

Im facing a similar kind of problem. I want to store and retrieve Office files, PDF and Jpegs into/from the database to view them on web in disconnected mode. Please reply as I cant find any help/documentation regarding saving BLOB data into files. I was able to store file data into BLOB, using DBMS_LOB package.

  • Is there a way to import a .pdf into a pages document and have it wrap to a 2nd page?

Is there a way to import a .pdf into a pages document and have it wrap to a 2nd page?

Are we talking about a spread? ie the pdf spans 2 pages side by side? Like in a magazine centrefold.
That requires you to insert the pdf on both pages, one hanging half over to the right and the other half over to the left.

  • How to load externl files (PDF) into BLOB column.  Please help.

    Hi All,
I've currently been working on loading many external binary files (PDF) into BLOB column. After some digging, I learn that the SQL*LOADER can be used to load data from external files into table. I also got help from another forummate mentioning to use PL/SQL procedure to do so. Since I have not done anything like this before. So, my question is what is the simple approach needed to upload PDF files into a table(there is only one table containing BLOB column in my database). In addition, the LOBs can not be query-able, I wanted to list the contents of the LOBs column to make sure that I did successfully upload data into the database. How can I do that?. I do need your help. Please direct me step by step how to do so. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • How to split a parallell-page PDF into single-page PDF

My situation: I have a few hundred pages of files I made quite a few years ago, optimized for "self-publishing" via the printer. I no longer have any source files (my own bad). These files have 2 pages next to each other in an A4 landscape PDF. I would like to change and combine these files into a US Letter portrait PDF.
I have browsed earlier, similar threads, most notably the most referred to thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3331516
which recommends using Adobe PDF printer. However, as this thread points out, and as I for one have found on my own system (10.8.3), Adobe PDF printer is no longer an option on Mac OS X (version 10.6 and on):
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/556366
So the question then is: How do we now split double-page landscape PDFs into single-page portrait PDFs?

Since at least OSX.5 adobe has removed PDF Printer which was begining to fail it was written in Adobe's altered version of javascript and it was a wonder it was working to begin with They replaced it with an Automator action that's called up through the print Driver.
Here are the steps for applications other than Acrobat.
create you doucument. laying it out the way you want it.
    Go to Print menu.
click and hold the pdf button - a context menu pops up.
now scan the list of choices and choose Adobe PDF or Adobe Quality PDF (depends on version of OS)
wait for direction fields to come up and make the desired choices (the first screen is basically job options).
when asked ask for name either ecept name give or choose name of your choice.
Browse to desired location for file
    then click save.
How the PDF is layed out in acrobat is determinedby acrobat. Adobe add an additional Layer on top of the Print Driver. You can by pass it and use the Print Driver but if there is an orientation switch in your docment the page is turned so everything comes out with same edge of Paper
Oh, look out for a Grand idea Adobe did that even Forest Gump would have left alone.
If you want to do duplex printing to a PDF with more than one page you won't be able to do so whether you have your printer setup for duplex printing. You can go back and forth from printer setting s to Printer setting toggling off and on til you turn blue in the face. You have to go into the document properties and loo for a command called SIMPLEX printing its on by default and needs to be turned off. Even my cat Boots would be smart enough not to put that in.
This settinging does not permanently turn off and you have to do with each document you create or resave.
