Elements 9 Screen size

Just purchased Elements 9 to upgrade from Elements 5. I am very unhappy that the new screen devotes
so much of the real estate to the "Project Bin" area and the "Panels" sidebar.  In Elements 5 there was
no Project bin and the sidebar could be elemeniated if I was not using it.  I prefer the larger working area
over the postage size area that I have in Elements 9.  I have not been able to find any mention of resizing
and/or removing these real estate hogs in the Help file..  Can anyone offer any suggestions.
Thanks

I downloaded PSE 9.0 yesterday and unless you have Windows
7 dpi setting at 100%, PSE 9.0 will not show File/Edit/etc. If set to 150% which I have as default, there is no menu bar at the top. I had this complaint about PSE 8.0 but at least there was a little down arrow at the top to File/Edit/etc. 9.0 does not have this. Anything less than 150% makes my desktop icons way too small and other programs visually difficult to read.
After I installed PSE 9.0 it found a very old catalog; 2 years old. I could not open any other catalog. The message indicating that my current and recent catalogs were corrupted. They still open in PSE 8.0!!
I returned the product today for a refund and very disappointed that PSE 9.0 is still so dependent on the dpi setting to be at 100%!!!!
When I uninstalled PSE 9.0 it also uninstalled PSE 8.1!!!!

  • Photoshop Elements screen size

Hi, I have a new Dell XPS laptop (screen resolution 3200 X 1800) and have recently installed Photoshop Element 10. The problem is that the Photoshop Elements screens are extremely small. If I 'maximize' the Photoshop screens, the page fills the screen, but the contents of the labels are still extremely small, so small that I can't read them. What can I do to get the Photoshop Elements screens readable. Thanks

Unfortunately Elements 10 can't handle hdpi displays. Only PSE13 can (with an update to 13.1); If you choose to update, download the trial version and see if that is ok for your computer display.
Otherwise, I believe your only solution would be to set your screen to a lower resolution in Windows, which would have the effect on all other installed softwares.

  • How do you hide elements for mobile screen sizes?

I've built an interactive Edge page that is 1200 pixels wide. I'm working on making things responsive, and I would like to hide elements when the browser hits a mobile screen size - similar to adding a media query and setting an element to display:none at 450px or similar. How can I do this within Edge?
If this is not possible within the interface, can I add my own media queries to the css to do this?
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
Check out this forum post : Hide Elements with Screen Size CSS style sheets?. Might be helpful.

    APDivs cannot be resized.
APDivs in primary layouts won't work in Responsive Web Design.
APDivs are a very poor layout method.
For this reason, Adobe removed APDivs from Dreamweaver CC.
Example of Fluid Grid Layout with floats & margins, no APDivs required.

  • Most efficient way to handle Image sizes with respect to Mobile Screen Size

    Hi all,
I and trying to find the best possible way to manage Images with respect to the size of mobile screen.
If I have an image that is best fit on mobile screen size (176 x 144) then how can I make it best fit for (128 x 128) screen size ?
    rizzz86

    Hey Rizzz86,
You could also scale down a higher resolution image to fit smaller screens, however you will find that resizing by factors other than 2, 4, 8 is harder to achieve with a decent quality and much slower on lower spec devices.
You could also display 128x128 image centered on 176 x 144 screen with black borders around it.
It will look not that bad (i.e. borders of 24 pixels top and bottom and 8 pixels left and right) and will cost you nothing in terms of space or processing.
In the end having an image in 3 different sizes will not increase the MIDlet size by much, unless you are having tens of such images (for example custom UI elements).
Best solution is to have a bit of both I think. Personally I use scaling down by factors that are powers of 2 and displaying with the black borders.

  • Image size of iPhone 5S is smaller than screen size

When I click any picture with my iPhone 5s, the image size is always 20-30% smaller than screen size. Its like a picture clicked from iPhone 4, is this an issue or is it designed in that way?? Coz Images clicked in potrait mode are always cropped 20-30% and I am not liking it..

If auto adjust to fit with the Default Full Zoom extension isn't working then the pages may be using absolute values for elements and in such a case you would have to zoom the pages manually.
Can you post a link to a few pages where it isn't working properly?

  • Can Reflow change display tools based on changing screen sizes?

I have a lenghty check list in a desktop-sized view, but want to change to a selection wheel type of display tool for a phone-sized screen.  Is there a way to make the display tool change, yet keep the same content simply by reducing down to the smaller screen size?
Is it even possible to add a selection wheel type tool in Reflow?  If you don't know what I mean by "selection wheel" I've found this site that has a functioning example.  http://www.menuhead.com/example.php

One way of having different content at different screen sizes is to have both elements on your page, and change the display of each of them to either "Block" or "None" depending on whether or not you want it to be displayed for that media query region.
And no, we don't have a selection wheel element in Reflow. Your best bet there is probably to use a box to represent it in Reflow, and then replace it with the desired element using Dreamweaver, Brackets, or whatever other tool you use next in your workflow.
Hope that helps, and thanks for using Reflow!

  • Creating app for multiple screen sizes?

Hello.  I've recently created an .apk file from Flash Professional using AS3 (probably obvious in this forum, but I wanted to be clear).  I've been testing it on an ASUS Android tablet.  However, I realized that even if I get the app to look fine on this tablet, there are other tablets out there with many different sizes that could have the app look weird.
I've been searching Google for tips on this, but a lot of it doesn't make sense.  Is there a pretty easy way to get your app to 'read' the tablet's dimensions and scale itself to those dimensions?  I know I could make a different file for each screen size, but wouldn't that require putting several different app files in the app store?  That seems silly.  Any tips?

first, you should check the scaleMode property of the stage which will allow you to specify how your stage is sized to fit the display.
then, you can use the stage's stageWidth and stageHeight properties to size and position your display elements, if that's needed (because with showall you probably won't need to do any sizing/positioning).

  • How to set width to be same as screen size?

    Dear all
I want to set the width of my view elements to be same as that of screen size, so that if a user with low resolution monitor runs it, or if a user with high resolution monitor runs it, both see the same.
I tried setting the width to 100%. But it is not working.
My root container layout is Grid layout.
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks in adv.

    Hi,
For ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER set the stretchedHorizontally, stretchedVertically to true.
And for the UI element set width as 100%, this will make the UI elem to expand to the complete screen.
    Best regards,

    hi
    good
While calling you will use like this..
Calling a single screen is a special case of embedding a screen sequence. If you want to prevent the called screen from covering the current screen completely, you can use the CALL SCREEN statement with the STARTING AT and ENDING AT options:
    CALL SCREEN <scrn>
    STARTING AT <X1> <Y1>
    ENDING AT <X2> <Y2>.
This calls the screen number <scrn> as a modal dialog box. When the screen is displayed, the screen that had called it is visible but inactive. The STARTING AT and ENDING AT additions specify the top left-hand and bottom right-hand corners of the dialog box respectively. In the screen attributes of screen <scrn>, you must set the Modal dialog box attribute. This defines how the interface elements are positioned on the screen.
    thanks

  • Helix vs X230, screen size keyboard etc

    Hey everyone,
Is there any where to get some kind of screenshot or something that would show the Windows 8 desktop running on the Helix to see just how large it is?  I have an X230 which I switched months ago for a MacBook Air 13" as I liked the bigger screen.  I really like the look of the Helix though and am really considering getting it but I'm so nervous at the 11" only display.  I'm using my X230 right now and always found the 12" fine as well as the keyboard on it.  I know the Helix has a much higher resolution but I'm concerned for one thing that things will be way too tiny on it and hard to read, or that even with scaling on it, it will be the opposite in that it's like using a system with a really low resolution.  Does anyone have any feedback on how it compares to say the X230 display, in terms of screen real estate and so on?
My other concern is the keyboard.  I plan on using this as my every day business laptop, so basically 8 hours a day on it with the Lenovo portalble USB monitor attached.  All the reviews seem to praise the keyboard and no one seems to say anything about it being too small etc but I just want to make sure it's not like getting a netbook or something where it's cramped and what not.
Any feedback would be appreciated thanks!

As Steve indicates, it's not easy.
Authorware doesn't 'scale' like Flash does.
You could do what you want by detecting the screen size and change the size of the Presentation window by using the ResizeWindow function.
That'll change the size of the 'stage' but all your content will still be fixed where it was before, likely top-left just as the 'fullscreen' option works (or doesn't work as the case may be).
Now most all elements can be placed via custom x/y coordinates. So you *could* base every element's position on the size of the presentation window itself. However, that's surely complex even for a fairly basic piece.
The more common approach was to use the cover.u32, or the subsequent RGBcover.u32 (see http://www.awaretips.net) to 'black out' any of the desktop that the presentation window does not cover - making it look somewhat full-screen...though everything in the window is still at its default size and placement...but at least it's centered.
I think cover.u32 stopped working on XP though RGBcover.u32 still does....I could be wrong in that recollection though.
Otherwise, Authorware is just built to deliver to a set size. There are workarounds but definitely none as easy as a simple scale.

  • Resizable page for different screen sizes but with static image content. Shall I use media query?

I’m making a page that has of mostly image content. It’s a large circle in the middle so I want it to be centered vertically and horizontally. I also want it to stay centered and resized proportionally for different screen sizes. I’ve read about media query but it seems to me that the elements just become fluid. Can I make the elements stay in place using the media query?
    I’m working in Dreamweaver CS5.5

Here's the code I'm working with now, I've taken away the things that I don't really understand.
It's working but I guess it won't hold when I start with the media queries.

  • What screen size for revealing scroll effects?

    Hello,
I'm currently designing a website in Muse for a motion graphics company which has quite a few scroll effects.  As the user scrolls down (it's a one page site), elements either fade or animate (edge animate files) onto the page.
I'm designing it on a 27" screen but of course a lot people will be using smaller screens and laptops so I was wondering what everyone uses as a standard active screen area?
If I keep all the animations happening in the top 700px, I'm left with a big empty space below when using a larger screen.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
(I will be doing a tablet and phone version once I've nailed this).
    Thank you

I would suggest you to go with browser width animation so that it should render same with all screen sizes.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit
