• Address book won't save changes to note field

Like the header says. Address book won't save changes to note field. There's another thread with the same header: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2591053?threadID=2591053 But it's archived so I had to post this new one.
If I made a change in any non-note field however, it would stay.
Note: the notes field can be edited with actually having to go into official "edit" mode. Does this make it more prone to corruption? Why would Apple make the notes field NOT need that extra step of protection. Do they think my notes aren't as important? How would they know?
I fixed this one card with a bandaid solution by exporting it and reimporting it. But I guess I need to do that with all 2,000 of my contacts now. It was mentioned on theother thread that somebody made an address book backup and then deleted every contact in the address book and imported them fresh from the backup and that worked.
The underlyilng issue is still not solved though. How could this happpen in the first place, and how do I know what other contacts haven't held lthe changes I thought I made?

Hi,
Using the Note field
You can add notes to any contact in Address Book. This makes it easy to keep track of details about a person in your address book.
Select the person in the Name column in Address Book, then click the Note field in the card.
The Note field can be edited at any time, even if the card is not in edit mode.
You could make a dedicated field that requires the edit button...
Using custom labels
You can change the label that appears next to a piece of information on a contact's card. For example, you might want to change "work" to "support" next to a phone number.
Select the contact that you want to change.
Click the Edit button at the bottom of the window.
Click the label next to a field, then choose Custom from the pop-up menu.
Enter a new label for the field.
The new custom label appears on this contact's card only.
If you want to change a specific label on all cards in your Address Book, edit the card template. Choose Address Book > Preferences and click Template. The Template pane also allows you to add other types of fields on contact cards, such as a nickname, job title, birthday, anniversary, and URL. Use the Add Field menu.

• Email password won't save after Yahoo hack

Opened my Mail inbox and got the wonderful mass of "MAILER @DAEMON" messages. Translation:I got hacked. I haven't had any problems with this since I changed my Yahoo/ATT password to something more complex. Now I'm being hacked again, went in to my account on my iPhone and found that it had reverted to the former password. Entered the new password, got the check marks, but it won't save--it reverts to the old password. I've tried this multiple times, I've tried rebooting multiple times, deleting the account and restoring it multiple times. Now I'm finding that my iPad has the same problem. So I am totally without mobile email now, and like so many of you this just ain't an option.

I Have a similar problem but 9 different emails have been hacked along with my iPhone. I am now on my 3rd new iPhone as Apple thinks this is the issue (I wish). it has become so bad the police dept have become involved and are bringing in the local FBI office since email hacking is a felony and 9 different accts are involved. I do have a good idea of the suspect (s) sadly not who I expected. Someone said to change my phone number to make sure they did not have it and this would help. Think it would?

• Photoshop Elements 4.0 won't save changes for IPhoto 6.0.2.

At some point following installation of IPhoto 6.0.2, a problem appeared during editing photos with IPhoto preferences set for opening in Photoshop Elements 4.0: When I hit "save", the following dialog box appears: "could not build a preview because of a program error." My edited changes are lost and don't appear back into IPhoto. (On force-quitting PhotoShop Elements, I now CAN properly save the changes back to IPhoto.) Or sometimes Photoshop Elements “unexpectedly quits” during the editing attempt.
The problem was not solved by reinstalling Photoshop Elements 4 and is similar on two different computers (IMac G4 and PowerBook G4).
I assume the problem resides with IPhoto (presumably v 6.0.2), not Photoshop Elements. Even though I have my IPhoto Library backed up on a Lacie external hard drive, I've hesitated tweaking my IPhoto program (such as to ditch preferences or reinstall).
Any suggestions?
PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Lori, thanks a million! The answer does seem to have been found in the Adobe forum you suggested: It suggests going to user>library>preferences folder and delete Adobe Save for Web prefs. A friend also suggested saving Photoshop Elements edited changes by using "save as" as opposed to "save" which gives another (slightly tedious) fix that translates back to IPhoto.

• Bridge won't save changes made in Camera Raw, no idea why this started happening. Details below.

Once I've selected images to edit, I can make changes in Camera Raw, but then as soon as I hit the 'Done' button, I get the error message "Unable to save the raw conversion settings. There was a write permissions error.". Why? I am the only user on this computer and I have no idea why I would not have permission to access my own work. I could use this fine a few days ago, now everything is not working. I'm using a late Sept 2013 MacBook Pro 15" with OS X Mavericks and the newest software version of Bridge. Please, can anyone help? I need to edit wedding photos and have them done by next week and at this rate I'll have to refund them for all the work I've done. And I can't really afford to do that.
Any advice at all would be great.

First, Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility.
Then verify that you have Read and Write permissions to the folder or volume you are saving to.

• System preferences won't save changes

When making changes in my system preferences, say changing the screensaver, the change does not save. When I go back into the preferences, they have reverted back to the previous setting. It's also doing the same thing with Safari. When I delete all website info in the preferences, it reverts back to the previous. I just upgraded to 10.7.1, but it was doing it before with 10.6 as well. Any idea what's causing this?

Possible conflicting or corrupted files, usually preference files. Step one is create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if changes persist.

• CS3 won't save changed resolution

I keep saving image files at 350 resolution, sized the way I want but after saving programs reverts files to 240 resolution. How do I fix this? Any resolution I save at it keeps putting everything at 240 and that also changes the image size.

The pixels do change. It stays the same when I save as a psd but not a jpg and I need it in the jpg format to send to printer. I have been having this issue for a few weeks now but never before and I've used this program a lot. My new document preset resolution is set at 300 but it keeps coming up as 240? Why is it stuck on that?

• IPhoto 9 won't save changes to file

After i'm done editing a photo and click the done button, everything is fine if I view the photos inside iPhoto, BUT if I got to the actual location on my HDD where the file is being held, none of the changes have been applied. How can I force iPhoto to save the changes without using the export option, because it would be too slow to export all the images one by one.
This problem came up after I was trying to upload the images to my server and discovered that none of the changes had been saved.

Another problem I am having with iPhoto... when i delete a photo, the original still remains on the HDD, so theoretically it's impossible to delete photos via iPhoto.
That is incorrect - when you delete photos in iPhoto (move to the iPhoto trash and empty the iPhoto trash) the photos are totally deleted - nothing outside of the iPhoto library is affected - iPhoto manages the photos you import and nothing else including the source of the photo
And another issue, when i want to view images in full screen, i go to the location where they are, and double click the image, it opens up in preview, however, i can't just hop on to the next one, i have to close the preview first and then open up the next images. It's quite frustration, on windows you just use the right/left arrow keys to switch back and fourth in full screen.
It is strongly recommended that you do NOT "go to the location" where the photo is
iPhoto is a relational database and it is strongly recommended that you use the proper tools for accessing it - go into it and using preview is not a good idea - nor is is needed
In iPhoto you can select the photo you want and hit the space bar to enlarge it to full screen - and use the arrow keys to scroll through photos
It just seems that windows is much more user friendly when it comes to manipulating images. Or am I wrong ?
You are very wrong - with windows you are not manipulating images - you are playing with files - with iPhoto you are managing photos - totally different concept - and there is a learning curve -- the first thing to learn is to forget about managing files and start thinking about managing photos -- taking the iPhoto tutorials is a great way to start this process -- http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ -- I recommend that you go through all 22 of them

• Pages won't save changes to files

This has happened twice already in a row: I perform changes to a file, and Pages will later on display a previous version of that same file. As a consequence, I lose ALL of the changes I have done.
This had not happened before, and I'm running an updated version of the app.
Did anyone have the same problem and was able to solve it?
Thank you.

I am trying to do a resume (used one of the templetes on Pages). When I change the font and the color of the font and try to save it as a .doc, then I get out of it and get back into the document, it doesn't save it. In fact it, when I save it and then go back in one time the color has changed back to the original, then the next time I save what I want and go back in, the text in one line has changed back to a different font. It just goes back and forth like this when I save the document. This is only happening in the header. Please help. I have tried to change and save what I want for hours now but what I want the font and color to look like is not "sticking".
If you save the document as a .doc do you get the changes in that document?
Do you mean by " get back into the document, it doesn't save it" that it isn't saved in Pages? If you haven't saved the Pages document it will not remember your changes. If you mean that the template you have used doesn't remember your changes it doesn't, never, because the template is just that. You have to save the changed document as a template and it will be saved in "My Templates" and found in the template chooser.

• Acrobat X won't save changes

I changed a few lines of text in a document and then saved the document but when I opened it back up the changes were gone. What do I need to look at?

The software has been fully activated including getting my serial number through registration of an academic account, activating my online account, and activating the account. There are, as far as I can tell, no further things that I need to do. By reinstalling the software I was able to get Acrobat to work again, but I am afraid now that I won't be able to run any updates.

• ITunes won't save changed track information

I am trying to edit and save track information (album name, # of #, etc...), including adding artwork, but no artwork ever gets added and when I click on the track to read the information, after editing it, it reverts back to the original information, except for the # of # and album artist. Those are the only 2 items that stay changed. I cant seem to change the album name, cant delete the comments and can't add artwork. My iPod Classic shows the original info, not the edited info, including no artwork.
This has never happened to me before. Any suggestions?

Ok, so I've narrowed it down to the folder containing the files has the read-only box completely shaded in (as opposed to a check mark). I can not, under any circumstances get this box to stay unshaded. I un-shade it, apply, go out, and when I come back, its shaded again. I've scoured the net looking for a fix and no one seems to have one that works. I am not sure how all my files on my computer got to this status as they were never like this before.
Has any one else had this problem and found a way around it?

• Some of my system prefs won't save...

I posted this in the MacBook forum to no avail, so I thought I'd try here. I got my new MacBook, used the migration assistant to copy my environment over, and for the most part all has been wonderful...
My problem is, at least two of my System Preference Panes are, as far as I can tell, unchangeable!
I go into Sound, turn off the "user alert" sounds (not fond of them), close System Preferences, and the sounds are still there. Open the Prefs, open the pane, that button is turned on again. Go look inside the Lib/Prefs folder, sure enough, that .plist file hasn't been changed... I've tried blowing it away, and it does recreate it, so it's not a permissions issue (I don't think)... but I can't change it in the GUI (and unfortunately, it's a binary .plist, so I can't just edit it by hand).
Ditto for screen savers... it's defaulting to "Flurry", I can change it in the GUI, test the changed one, close the Prefs, and it's still Flurry. The .plist hasn't been touched, the SystemPrefs aren't changing them... and again, that one is also binary, so I can't hack it by hand. If I delete it, it makes a new one... but with the default settings ("Flurry"), which I can't change.
Thoughts?

when you say that you don't think it's a permissions
issue, do you mean that you've already tried
repairing permissions from disk utility? which could
be necessary anyways since you've updated to 10.4.5,
unless it shipped like that.
I did run that... I meant more in the UNIX sense, looking at the settings on the files and directories (and the fact that it can create the .plist when I delete it, which suggests it should be able to write new settings into it)...
and have you made a 'test' account? cause it sounds
like an issue where it might be appropriate.
That I haven't done... but I will, good idea!

• Firefox won't save changes I make to the applications actions panel. Specifically, changing pdf files to open in Firefox

If I change the option to "Use Adobe acrobat in Firefox", the next time I open Firefox, it will have reverted its setting back to "Use adobe Acrobat 7.0"

Using "System Restore" can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.
You need to (re)install software that was affected.
Remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a freshly downloaded Firefox copy to do a clean install.

• Please HElp! Won't save changes in Imovie

I am currently working on an iMovie. When I preview the finished movie in iMovie it appears as if everything I have done is correct. However, when I burn it through iDVD there are errors. Errors that occur: music and voices playing on the next pictures and gaps in music. I have tried sharing the movie as a Quick time file and then burning in iDVD and I have tried sharing to iDVD. Like I said when I go back to the orginal version in iMovie none of these errors exist. Please anyone experience these types of issues?

Hello showard29 & welcome to discussions...
Try this - delete the following file:
~(yourUserName)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.addressbook.plist
As well, have you made a permissions repair pass via Disk Utility lately?

• Mail in Yosemite won't save subject of emails in draft folder

Recently updated to Yosemite. Ever since, many or most times if I create a new email and want to save it in the drafts folder, the subject field will be blank (even though it's not blank in the actual email if opened), or it will show only a portion of the subject. Creating another new email and trying again often works, but of course this shouldn't be necessary. It also won't save changes if the subject field of a draft email is edited.
I've searched and found a few other reports of this behavior in Mail since Mavericks came out, but no suggested fixes or solutions.
In case it matters, the email accounts are POP, not IMAP, and the only plugin being used is MailHub.
Anyone else seeing this happen, or know more about it? Any way to know if Apple has acknowledged this as a bug and/or has a workaround for it?
Thanks.
