Email Significantly Delayed

First the stuff you asked for....
Device info
Your carrier: AT&T
Model info and OS version 8310, v4.5.0.182
Apps and free space
File free before and after a battery remove/replace.
before: 12863042 Bytes
after a battery pull: 12646958 Bytes
Did a battery pull fix your issue? Nope
Apps installed and their version if possible...this is a long list....If we need it, I'll send it....
BT device model/version--I have no clue what this means
Now for the problem
I've had my curve for almost 2 years now. I've had my personal AOL e-mail set up for this entire time, as well as the gmail account that I use for my small home based business. Both emails have always updated immediately. Normally, I have the e-mail on my phone before it shows up in the inbox on my computer. Lately, (for maybe two weeks or so) I've been having sporatic issues with my AOL account. Sometimes it shows up right away, and other times, it shows up hours after it was sent. During the periods where the e-mail is being delayed I normally get two or three of them at once. Is there a simple way to fix this, so that I'm getting my email as it arrives? I wouldn't even care if it was a coupe minute delay, but hours is rediculous.....
I'm not at all tech saavy, so if you offer suggestions, I'd appreciate if you could "dumb it down" for me...
I have tried pulling the battery, I have tried replacing the SIM card (that's what the techs at the AT&T store did), and I have tried shouting a wide variety of cuss words at my phone, none of which has helped.
Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you could try removing and re-creating the BIS configuration for those email accounts.
Good luck!

  • Web server php email is slow/delayed

    We have some php code that sends email from various web sites.
    If I submit one form that sends an email, it'll be delayed for hours or a day. If I submit two forms that send emails, I’ll get the first one, and eventually after a long wait the second one. But if I go and submit a form a third time, that email seems to help push the second one through, but then I don’t get the third email for awhile.
    What could be causing this?
    Server is 10.5.6
    Thanks!

    Also look at the mail headers of the received mail. It will give precise timestamps of the message along its path to the recipient. Cross-reference that with when the message was sent and you might spot a problem.
    Also look for patterns in the delays - are they consistent? Does it always take a second message to 'push' the previous one out? That could indicate that the server is holding onto the message waiting for some kind of signal that doesn't arrive until the next message comes in. The logs should help clarify this.

  • Emails are being delayed by 12 hours

    The BBY message delivery timing seems to have changed for some reason in recent months. A message was sent  to me on  May 27th @7:04pm which I received on my laptop minutes later however, it was not received on my BBY until the next morning at 7:58am! Another test message sent @7:20pm and it was not received on my BBY until 7:58am the next morning as well, a little long don’t you think?
    I am in Toronto, ON my website server is located in California yet email promptly arrives on my laptop. I don't understand the delay on my BBY.

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    What email service, please? FYI -- I've been noticing recent significant delays on Gmail -- not universal, but on several of my accounts. I have 9 Gmail accounts, and some have significant delays (since Friday) while others deliver immediately. And, like you, this only affects the BB...other clients (e.g., PC-Outlook) do not experience the same issue. Hence, I believe that the issue is rooted at Google, not in anything related to the BB services. If it were affecting all 9 of my Gmail accounts the same, then I'd deduce the problem to be related to BB services...but, since it only affects a subset, I cannot reach that same conclusion.
    Your situation may be different...but this is what I've witnessed in my situation.
    Good luck!

  • Why is typing in Subject for email slow and delayed?

    When I attempt to type in the subject for email the typing is always delayed in appearing, but typing is normal otherwise. How do I get the subject line to stop being so slow to show the key stroks when typing?

    This can be a problem with saved form data.
    Does it still happen when you disable that feature?

  • Send(email)  method  is delaying servlet's response

    hello ,
    i have a servlet that store a message in the DB ,
    after the message was stored ,
    a requestDispatcher is called to forward to the "msg sent" screen.
    than there is method that makes a call to an ejb method to send the msg via email like....
    user_message msg = dispatcher.getMessage();
    persister.store(Message);
    request.getRequestDispatcher("/msgSent.jsp").forward(request,response);
    Mailer.sendNotification(msg.destination.email);
    the problem is : even though i called to the request dispatcher it doesnt forward the message till
    the mail server sends a - 250 OK
    is there a way to solve it without storing data ..?

    You've stored the message in the DB? Does that include all the sender & receiver info?
    If it does you could probably have a thread (started on application startup) whose job it is to pick up messages added to the queue and to send them.
    It is something that worked really well at my last job. The page submits with the request to send the message. Because the message required a lot of processing we stuck the message data on a queue with a NOTPROCESSED status. The thread woke up every ten seconds and grabbed the top ten NOTPROCESSED message (changing status to PROCESSING) and processed them. In the meantime, the page had returned to the user and the sending entity had a status of "sending".
    We found that acceptable where a synchronous processing would take a while and page responsiveness is important.
    Another option is to submit the page but also rewrite the current page with javascript or somesuch. You can display a message "sending, page will reload when sent" or somesuch. I've seen it done elsewhere. I think there is another way to do it but don't know enough to comment on that.

  • Change default settings for email transmission delay

    Outlook Mail delay:
    Is it possible to change the "default" settings (default is 5pm resp. 17.00) under Email - Options - Transmission delay. If yes, where resp. how?
    Kind regards
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
    Based on my knowledge, there is no parameter to directly change this default settings for message Delivery Delay in Outlook.
    I suggest we can ask for a help in Outlook Development forum to confirm if it can be achieved by using a macro. Please ask a question in the following forum to have a try:

  • "delay" message when sending emails

    hey.
    since ive upgraded to Ios4 on my 3Gs, my hotmail account is refusing to send emails to a yahoo group.
    before the upgrade i could send emails from my phone to the yahoo group without any problems.
    the phone says the email has been sent, then a few hours later i get an email from hotmail stating the email has been "delayed". then a few more hours later i get another email from hotmail stating the email has "failed", only on my phone.
    i can receive emails from the yahoo group and send/receive to any other email address's, just can not send to yahoo groups from my phone.
    i can send emails to the yahoo groups via my computer through the same hotmail account. so im down to blaming the phone and the new update, up to now.
    i have deleted my email account on my phone and reactivated it, same problem.
    the settings are all correct to receive and send mail on my phone, pop3 and smtp lines and ports.
    tried searching on google and here about this problem, but it dosnt seem to be a common issue.
    if anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this problem, would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

    Exactly the same thing happens to me. I newly bought an iPhone and have never used iOS3. I started using it with iOS4 and I can reply messages of yahoogroups only from MSN Messenger app. I hate to do that. Can anybody solve this problem?

  • Infinity Order Delay - Worried

    Hi folks,
    Hoping someone can advise me on what to do here, because I am starting to stress out a little bit over my current situation.
    Firstly, my back story.  I'm currently a BT Broadband customer, but I am moving to a new home where BT Infinity is available, so I ordered the BT Infinity 2 package.  I was originally hoping to move on the 10th Dec, but BT told me that the earliest they can move my connection over to my new place is on the 19th due to requiring an engineer visit.  Now for an average person, that just means 9 days without internet, no big deal right?  Not for me though because in my case, I work full time online.  If I'm not able to work, I lose money.
    So I delayed my move to the 19th thanks to my current landlord who is letting me stay a bit longer, although it does mean I'm having to double up on paying rent for two different properties since I have already signed the lease for my new apartment.. but it's ultimately cheaper than me taking those 9 days off.
    Anyway, the issue and the reason I'm here today is because I just received an email with the following message:
    A survey is required by our engineers before we can progress your order, this will result in a delay in us providing you with BT Infinity Broadband service.
    We apologise for the delay and can assure you we are working as quickly as possible towards a solution, we will be in touch as soon as we have a further update.
    You can track the progress of your order by visiting www.bt.com/myorder, using your order number [removed for privacy reasons]
    Due to my online profession, this email is very worrying for me.  I do not know how long this delay will be, or when my order will actually be completed.  I've heard horror stories of delayed orders taking weeks to complete, and with it being so close to Christmas, I'm worried I'm about to suffer the same fate.  The order progress on the website however still shows the 19th as being the date in which my service will be activated, along with the engineer visit.
    I was hoping today to finalise my removal services so that I could be at my new place on the 19th, but now I don't know what to do because I don't know now whether I'll need to extend my stay here further just so that I have a working connection or not.  I only have another day or two before that choice is no longer an option.  I really hope there's a way to escape this fate, even if it means changing my package so that an engineer visit isn't required.  Anything just to have the connection set up by the 19th or at least within a couple of days of that date, as I cannot afford to take time off work, nor can I afford to keep paying rent for two different properties just for the sake of maintaining an internet connection.
    If anyone has any advice on what to do in this unusual situation, please let me know.  The move itself is already stressful enough, but this is definitely pushing my stress levels through the roof.
    Best regards,
    X.

    I am just a regular user with a residential line/package.  I just tried using the phone number they've given me for my new place on the BT business website, but it says that BT business is not available in my area yet oddly enough.  Furthermore I do use my connection often outside of work for gaming.. etc, so not sure if I would suit a business line regardless. (To be honest, I don't really know the differences between the two.. but it seems like it's not an option regardless)
    My main concern right now is getting a connection up and running by the 19th (or at least before Christmas) at my new place, even if it means having to change my Infinity 2 order to a lesser one, if I can even do that. (I wouldn't be overly happy with doing that, but a working connection is more important than having to potentially wait weeks after the 19th for one)
    Would an Infinity 1 package require an engineer visit?  Or would this whole "delay due to an engineer survey" thing affect that too?  Also is it normal that my order summary page still shows the 19th as my activation date, despite the email stating a delay?  The agent on the phone did mention that an engineer would be in the area prior to that date, which is why I had to wait 'til the 19th in the first place despite originally being quoted an earlier date previously. (I ordered originally on the 24th Nov.)  I'm really confused and unsure of what to do right now.. because my whole move is resting on this pretty much.  I should note that my new place apparently has the rare FTTP packages available, allowing me to choose Infinity 3 or 4.  I'm assuming that changing my order to one of those will not change anything though?
    Thanks for your advice so far, much appreciated.
    Regards,
    X.

  • Delivery delayed possibly because of Exchange Online issue with DNS check

    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/newthread?category=microsoftonlineservices&forum=onlineservicesexchange
    I'm troubleshooting extremely late (3+ days) delivery emails FROM a domain hosted by Microsoft TO systemid.com.  Microsoft Remote connectivity analyzer
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/ shows that it cannot get MX record for systemid.com.  HOWEVER, other tools like Mxtoolbox (http://mxtoolbox.com/) shows the
    MX lookup is successful.
    When sending FROM Google / Yahoo to the same email address at systemid.com, the emails go through right away.
    I was able to reproduce the issue by sending an email FROM my personal Hotmail email to systemid.com.  The next morning I got a delayed Delivery Status Notifcation:
    Reporting-MTA: dns;BAY004-OMC1S14.hotmail.com
    Received-From-MTA: dns;BAY169-W65
    Arrival-Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2014 11:38:10 -0700
    Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
    Action: delayed
    Status: 4.4.7
    Will-Retry-Until: Thu, 2 Oct 2014 11:38:17 -0700
    I think the root issue is that Exchange Online does not like something about MX record for systemid.com, although other tools say the MX records are fine.
    Can you see why emails from Hotmail or one of your Exchange Online customers cannot reach systemid.com although emails from Google / Yahoo go in just fine?  Please PM me if you need the name of the domain hosted by Microsoft or an email address at systemid.com
    for testing.

    If you open a service request via your O365 tenant, and explain the issue, they'll respond quite quickly.
    I've created some tickets at O365 support for about the same problems in the past, and you usually get a call from an EOP/EO engineer the day after.

  • Internal email delivery taking very long time (EMAIL WITH attachment sent to large distribution group)

    Hi Fellows
    I am facing an issue with Exchange 2010 SP3 (14.03.0123.003) environment. Internal email sent with attachment to an all employee or large-member distribution group chokes the queue on Hub Transport and takes from 7 to 15 minutes to deliver. during this
    time period users's emails are also delayed because of transport queue. I am trying to diagnose the root cause for this. Your suggessions and insight might be helpful for me to get it over quickly.
    2 x HT + CAS (WNLB)

    Regards.
    J.A

    Hi,
    Generally, a message that has a large attachment or many recipients takes longer for a Hub Transport server to process than a small message that's addressed to only one recipient.
    In Exchange 2010, after a message is received by the Hub Transport server, the message is added to the Submission queue. Messages move from the Submission queue through the categorizer. When the message is categorized, a recipient's e-mail
    address is resolved to an object in Active Directory. This query determines the mailbox associated with that e-mail address and which Mailbox server is hosting that mailbox.
    For more information about Internal message Routing, please refer to the following link.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232193(v=exchg.141).aspx
    In addition, Slow network bandwidth will effect email delivery. We can increase the network bandwidth to take a test. Low computer performance will also affect the delivery. If sending internal email without attachment to all employee or
    large-member distribution group, will they take the same long time to deliver?
    Best Regards.

  • Firefox has gummed up by yahoo mail. 1/2 the time the email doesn't open, it doesn't 'move' on the first click. Anyone else have these problems?

    My yahoo email has many 'delays' when trying to open and I have to hit "retry" and generally that doesn't work either. Since I downloaded the new FFox, it's awful! I'm sorry, but it is. I have these problems on both of my desktop computers.
    Also, when I try to 'move' an email to a yahoo folder, it generally won't move on the first click, but takes 2 or 3 or more to get the email moved. What did you people do?

    IF you have restored your iPhone and still have these problems, you have a defective iPhone and there is nothing anyone here can help you with -- you have to contact Apple for service.

  • Email a form using PHP works intermittently

    Hello all,
    I'm using DW CS6/ Win 7. I have created a simple subscription form where the user enters their email and the form is emailed to an administrator. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I have no idea why. Occasionally I  receive the email after a delay of several minutes and sometimes it never arrives. The webpage is here www.sanbenitoolivefestival.com/contactus2.php , below is the script , I've tried in IE and FF, same intermittent results. I'm new to FF/ Firebug but it didn't report any errors that I could see
    <div class="subscribe">
        <div class="spacer"></div>
    <?php
    if ((isset($_REQUEST['email'])) && ($_REQUEST['email'] != " Enter Email Address"))
    //if "email" is filled out, send email
        echo "sending mail";
        //send email
       $email = $_REQUEST["email"] ;
       $subject = "SBOF EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION REQUEST" ;
       $message = "Please add my email address to the SBOF email subscription list" ;
       mail("[email address removed by moderator]", $subject,
       $message, "From:" . $email);
       echo "Thank you, we have sent your subscription request";
    else
    //if "email" is not filled out, display the form
       echo '<form action="contactus2.php" method="post" >
         <em>Stay in touch by joining our email list.
          <input name="email" type="text" value=" Enter Email Address" size="42"  class="input" />
         <input name="submit" type="submit" value="   SUBSCRIBE  " class="button"/>
          </em>
        </form>';
    ?>
    </div>

    You are using an extremely insecure technique that lays your form wide open to a malicious attack known as email header injection, which can turn your form into a spam relay.
    You should NEVER use unfiltered form input in the email headers. The From header is intended to indicate who sent the email. In this case, it's your website, not the person who fills out the form. If you want the convenience of hitting the reply button in your email program to use the sender's email address, you should use the Reply-to header instead of From.
    Misusing the From header like this is one possible cause of your emails not getting through. You should also check with your hosting company to see if they require the fifth argument to mail() to be set. This is normally a string that begins with -f followed immediately by a known email address on the same domain as the server, for example '[email protected]'.
    Also, using $_REQUEST is insecure.
    Change your code like this:
    <?php
    if ((isset($_POST['email'])) && ($_POST['email'] != " Enter Email Address"))
    //if "email" is filled out, send email
        // make sure the email is OK
        $email = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'email', FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL);
        // send the message only if the email address is valid
        if ($email) {
            echo "sending mail";
            //send email
            $from = '[email protected]';  // this should be your own email address
            $subject = "SBOF EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION REQUEST" ;
            $message = "Please add my email address to the SBOF email subscription list" ;
            $headers = "From: $from\r\nReply-to: $email";
            $sent = mail("[email address removed by moderator]", $subject,
                $message, $headers);
            if ($sent) {
                echo "Thank you, we have sent your subscription request";
           } else {
                echo 'Sorry, there was a problem sending your request';
    else
    //if "email" is not filled out, display the form
       echo '<form action="contactus2.php" method="post" >
         <em>Stay in touch by joining our email list.
          <input name="email" type="text" value=" Enter Email Address" size="42"  class="input" />
         <input name="submit" type="submit" value="   SUBSCRIBE  " class="button"/>
          </em>
        </form>';

  • Unable to set up 'Other' email account

    Previously set up office email account with no problems. Received email from Blackberry over two weeks ago that emails may be delayed or not received etc. Waited for a week but still didn't receive emails, resent service book but nothing happened. Deleted email details and tried to reinstall but this didn't work. I enter email address and password and it fails everytime. As the email address is associated with outlook I was previsouly asked for the server details, user name etc but I cannot find this screen anywhere. I'm going round in circles, my provider o2 is unable to help, my web access provider is unable to resolve issue and when I telephoned Blackberry they were most unhelpful.  I do not know why this has happened when it had been working successfully for over two years. Can anyone help please?

    What error message? What settings?
    Possibilities:
    By default, Mail assumes you want to connect via SSL (secure); not all mail servers support that.
    Many smtp servers won't accept connection except from their own domain. So if you're on a 3G network and you're setting up smtp with another ISP, their server might not take the connection.
    A fallback is that Google smtp does relay messages, so you could use that route
