Embed application within another

Hi there,
I have an APEX application which uses tabs, on one of the tabs i would like to use a report from another application, is it possible to link to this report somehow or do I have to recreate the report?
I am using APEX 4.0, thanks...

I mean setting the applications up to use a shared authentication scheme so users can navigate seamlessly between them. See +{thread:id=515240}+ for the basic technique, and these Oracle Magazine articles for extended examples:

The best way to do this is using APEX's built-in publish-and-subscribe model. You create a "master" application to contain publishable components like authentication schemes, LOVs and templates. Theme templates are created, maintained and published through this application, and other applications reference the standard templates by subscription from the master application. Changes can be pushed out from the master application to all subscribing applications.
With this in place, you would then create a navigation list in app 2 with a link to the report home page in app 1, and a copy of this in app 1 for conditional display when app 1 is called from app 2.

Background job within another background job

Hello Experts,
I have a BDC program (for BW tcode OLI7BW) which executes by scheduling a number of background jobs. This report works fine when run manually. But doesn't work if it is scheduled as a background job through SM36. The status of the job is shown as finished, but the data is not uploaded.
Is it not possible to execute a background job within another background job?
If it's possible, what could be the possible cause of error?

Hi Radhika,
If you are trying to upload data from a file on ur desktop to Internal table, then background job doesn't work. Always remember GUI means ur front end and all background jobs are run on application server and they dont run w.r.t ur desktop.

Calling Java Application from another

How can i call a Java Application from another java App.
eg., If my Java application is called MyApp and i would like call another java application from within it.
One way could be by using "System". I would like to know if there is any other method and is portable.

Hi Vishal,
Just try to Embed the another WD Component into Component Controller first.
And then Create a View and map it to window as U regularly do,
then in Window- Explore the tree until that View, now open Context Menu for Embed View Option and from the scroll U get search for that WD Component U wanna Embed.
U also have to handle Plugs here, Because the result application required some parameters to be passed that U do from ur first application by passing those values through Plugs.

Indexing - one document embedded within another

I am testing KM indexing in terms of examining how Trex handles the indexing of a scenario where you have one document embedded within another document.
In this case I have chosen to embed a PowerPoint (.ppt document) within a Word document (.doc document).
I index the Word document, expecting to therefore also have the PowerPoint document within indexed. When I search for the text within the embedded .ppt document I do not get results and therefore assume that Trex cannot index documents which are embedded in other documents. Please advise if I am correct.

Hi Keith,
yes that's exactly correct from my knowledge's point of view.
I had a similar issue with an HTML-document that contained another HTML-document as iframe and this is also not possible (I asked SAP about this, so for this I am sure).
TREX does anyway a transformation for all sort of documents to HTML documents (so also DOCs or PDFs are firstly converted to HTML before they are indexed). And in here TREX never follows any embedded content.

You want to use an applet inside an other applet?
Applet extends Panel
you can take the source of the second applet, and instead of extending Applet extends Panel, and call the init method from the first applet.

Applications within Utilities Missing....

My cousin's sound within Safari recently stopped working, so I was trying to get into the Audio MIDI utility to check some settings, but every application within Utilities is completely missing except for Network Utility, Bluetooth File Exchange, and Installer.
About a month ago he turned on the computer and System preferences was completely missing, so he dragged it up from an iMac in the house. Now when you go to About This Mac, the "More Info" box is grayed out.
So, in summary:
-Audio MIDI setup is missing, as are almost all other utilities - even terminal (He has the admin account)
-System Preferences was gone a month ago
--He drug it up from the imac (perhaps another problem)
-More Info is grayed out in the About my Mac window.
Anyone have any thoughts?

“More Info” being unavailable from the About box is probably because System Profiler—another usual inhabitant of the Utilities folder—is missing. Have you tried searching the drive with Spotlight, in case the utilities got moved somewhere, um, unusual?
Have you run Disk Utility (from the system installer disc) to check for problems with the hard drive? Sometimes files will appear to go missing because of corruption in the directory structures.

OID Realm Setup for Partner Application in another application server

This message was also posted under the Identity Management thread.
We currently have 10.1.2 SSO running and configured to accept a partner application from another app server (10.1.3). A sample application attempts to authenticate a user and then use JAZN to confirm whether the user is in the correct OID group. The user can authenticate successfully, which shows up in the SSO audit table, but the group check fails. I believe this is due to the realm not being visible to the other app server? How do I go about setting up the app server or application on the 10.1.3 platform to be able to check the 10.1.2 SSO server for the right OID group when the user authenticates? I have tried to set up the file-based permissions through the EM console, but seems to be only valid for the local setup. My thought was that the system-jazn-data.xml file would need to identify and point to the SSO server? When I troubleshoot that file, I see the correct realm entry and also the correct JAZN group and the OID GUID for the group. Any suggestions?

PL/SQL: Executing a procedure from within another procedure

Hello, I'm a newbie and I need help on how to execute procedures from within another procedure. The procedure that I call from within the procedure have return values that I want to check.
I tried: EXECUTE(user_get_forum_info(p_forumid, var_forum_exists, var_forum_access, var_forumname));
but I get the error message:
PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "USER_GET_FORUM_INFO" when expecting one of the following::= . ( @ % ; immediate
The symbol ":=" was substituted for "USER_GET_FORUM_INFO" to continue.
And when I tried: EXECUTE(user_get_forum_info(p_forumid, var_forum_exists, var_forum_access, var_forumname));
I get the error message:
PLS-00222: no function with name 'USER_GET_FORUM_INFO' exists in this scope
PL/SQL: Statement ignored
The procedure USER_GET_FORUM_INFO exists. (don't understand why it says "no FUNCTION with name", it's a procedure I'm executing)
I'm stuck so thanks for any help...

you don't have to use execute when you want to execute a procedure (only on sql*plus, you would use it)
just give the name of the funtion

How to call a WD4A Application of another system

Hi,
I have the need to call a WebDynpro Application of another system via a URL call, thet the application should be opend in the CRM WebUI Window (statefull ) .
Calling the application via a button event & transaction launcher works fine, but i need to call it from a BSP page. So my idea was to create an iframe, but this obviously opens a new window:

How can I pass a value from one application to another through URL

I am passing a value APP_USER from one application to another application (item is P_ASK_U) through navigation bar entrees URL.
This is working with in the application..(javascript:popupURL('f?p=&APP_ID.:165:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::P_ASK_U:#&APP_USER.#') )
This one is not passing the value, eventhough it open the application..

Is there any syntax error or is it not possible, please let me know..

Hi Scott,
You are right, the first one do not need # character.
In the Doc it is mentioned as....
Pass the value on a URL reference using f?p syntax. For example:
f?p=100:101:10636547268728380919::NO::MY_ITEM:ABC
I am using the following URL, it pops up the external application, but it is not passing the APP_USER value to the page item of that application.
