Enable wiki searches for 3 characters

I've edited a wiki entry on "installing a arch to a usb key". The main two words here are "usb" and "key". However, mediawiki doesn't allow you to search using three characters. So my edited article is lost to all those searching. I know you can look at the categories section, but it'd be nicer if it was fixed by someone with admit access to the wiki.
I've found this work around: http://www.mwusers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2018 Would anyone be willing to implement it?

hm.. yeah this would be a good idea.. most forums and wikis have this restriction -- it's kind of annoying when you want to search for something like say "dsl"

Why not just ask carrier to enable MMS? I know T-Mobile can and will do it, even if there is no data plan at all on the line. We did it for my daughter and I know T-Mobile has done it for others. I assume other carriers do the same, but don't know....Which is why I ask.

  • Search for certain Characters within set of Characters - in a field

    Hello -
I know a search can be made within a field for a word, but I am not to sure, or I don't know how to accomplish this...To do a search in a field for certain characters within a larger set of charcters.
For example: I would search, in the Call Description field, for DXXXX within CA0001DXXXXYYY or search for LXXXX within CA0001LXXXXYYY, the X is numeric characters and the Y's are Alpha characters. Can crystal accomplish this....
    Thanks for your gracious help....
    G.

Like I said earlier, this code:
If instr({database_field}, 'DXXXX') > 0 then "String Found" else "Not Found"
cannot be used in a Record Selection formula.
The following code can be used in the Record Selection formula:
    Instr({database field}, "string") > 0
If you wish to search for 'D4444' in the field and return records where a match is found, you would use:
    Instr({database field}, "D4444") > 0

  • Issue Searching for Chinese Characters

I am creating pdfs from SQL Server Reporting Services. I have the data stored in Chinese characters and it displays fine when the files are opened. Our problem is we are unable to search for any Chinese characters. When we copy a Chinese character from the document and paste into the search box we get the following and it does not find the characters.
When I inspect the Fonts it has the following :
    Calibri /regular/bold/Italic (Embedded Subset)
         Type:True Type
         Encoding:Ansi
    PMingLiU (Embedded Subset)
         Type:True Type
         Encoding:Ansi
    PMingLiU (Embedded Subset)
         Type:True Type(CID)
         Encoding:Identity-H
Do I need to install different fonts on my server or clients to make the search box recoginize the Chinese characters.
I am using Reader v10.1.7 and I have installed both Chinese font packs

    What is your operating system?
I cannot reproduce this with English Reader 11.0.3 on Windows 7.  I open a random Chinese document (i.e. http://newyork.china-consulate.org/chn/lszj/P020110622119203610776.pdf), then search for some Chinese characters (e.g. 中国), it displays it correctly in the search box, and also finds the characters in the document:
Do you use the English or Chinese Reader version?

  • Enabling Spotlight search for server clients?

I have a mac mini server running OSX Mavericks, and 6 client mac also running Mavericks.
The server provides access to the main storage raid for our design dept, and all the designers need to be able to search for files on this server, but Spotlight never seems to work when trying to search the server.
No of us are It types, so the few possible solutions i have found seem to be aimed at advanced unix programmers, and as a result assume that a single line of code is enough of a hint for us to sort out the problem!
Pleae can someone explain how i can set up the server to index the raid, and allow the users to perform searches?
    thanks
    adam

It used to be that you could manually enable and disable spotlight indexing for network shares on a  Mac server. With Server.app and therefore your Macvericks server this is automatically enabled. The process would be along the following lines.
You have a drive which has permissions enabled, external drives may default to having this turned off you can if needed enable it by doing a 'Get Info' on the external drive, and at the bottom will be an option 'Ignore ownership on this volume' this needs to be turned off i.e. unticked.
You then tell Server.app to 'share' the volume or a folder within the volume.
Server.app will automatically enable both AFP and SMB sharing for this new share, you can modify this if you wish.
Server.app will also automatically add an ACL (Access Control List) record containing the special server account 'Spotlight' so it can access every single file and folder within the share, this lets the server spotlight indexing software be able to access and therefore index all those files.
Client Macs can then search the share, it should only return results of files that that user has permission to access.
There is nothing really to configure. I have seen problems where the server will periodically decide to re-index the share again and while it is doing this searching does not work because the server is busy rebuilding the index. You can tell if this is happening by clicking on the Spotlight menu on the server, if it says it is re-indexing then this is what is happening.

  • Can't search for certain characters in Address Book

    Hello all,
Since there is no search and replace in Address Book, I have this problem: I long ago entered some 3 digit area codes with abbreviated versions such as "9/" or "8/", etc. I now wish to change the abbreviated versions to the actual three digit area codes, and there are quite a lot of them. But when I search for "9/", for instance, the search returns every entry of "9", but no example of anything containing "/". I guess this is a limitation (albeit a strange one) of Address Book or OSX itself.
Does anyone have a clue how I can make the necessary changes, or if there is a search & replace script or application available?
    Thanks

From the iPod Touch (4.1) Users Guide:
You can search first, last, and company names in your contacts on iPod touch.
Thus, there are only three searchable fields and phone # is not one of them.

  • Not able to enable Wiki etc. for Groups

In the work group manager, I cannot select Wiki and Blog, etc. options for old and new groups. The drop down that says: "Enable the following services for this group on:" says only: "(None)"
What do I need to do to get this to work. Every time I access my site, and try to start a new blog for one it says it is "Disabled" in the webview status (even though I do in fact have it enabled, and when I click users and start a Blog, and then try and add a new one and enter a Username and Password, it just wiggles the box and wont accept the password.

No you only need one server to be an OD Master to run collaborative services, but you do need a minimum of one!
So if one server is all you have, then that needs to become your Open Directory Master.
As you are just exploring at this stage there really shouldn't be too many issues making the switch, as I'm guessing you probably don't have too many users and groups set up.
Promoting your server to an OD Master is quite simple (by simply changing its role with Server Admin>Open Directory>Settings), but there are consequences... like all the users and groups set up in the local node will not appear in the LDAP node, so you are going to need to migrate them over.
The very first thing you need to do make sure that your DNS is working properly and that your forward and reverse DNS names are correct (use the command +changeip -checkhostname+ in terminal to verify it) - make sure you don't press on regardless if there are errors here... as with an OD Master you are going to be running Kerberos which relies heavily on DNS.
If you are good to go then go ahead and promote your server to OD Master. As part of this process you will be prompted to create a Directory Administrator account, use a shortname of diradmin (or whatever works for you) and a strong password.
When the process is complete, use WorkGroup Manager to log into your machine using the diradmin account. You should be authenticated in the LDAP node... note that you only see one user, the directory administrator - don't fret, you haven't lost the other users, they are just not visible in the node you are currently working.
If you just want to test out the collaborative services, go ahead and create a few users & groups and then check it out.
On the other hand if you want to provide collaborative services to the users you previously created in the the local node, you'll need to move them over to the LDAP node. This may or may not be a issue depending upon what the local user account was previously used for... if just email, web, etc - no problem - you can safely migrate the account to the LDAP node... if, however, you have home folders & share points on the server that the user has been using, the change in UID may be cause for a headache!
Still, let's not cross this bridge before we come to it.
    Hope this helps - Anton

  • Enable the search for a site made with director

How can I index for google a site made with Director? (dcr File).
    Thanks.

In my opinion two or three keywords might suffice: your name and s.th. like "biography" or "portfolio" (if you want that the whole world can find your biography with your name) not your actual  biographical data itself.
Don´t know how many browsers can set text to transparent meanwihle. "Hidden" is also hidden for search engines.
An example for dcr containing html with and without button and with a minimum of text: http://titanpad.com/QnWsz5nZtk
The most simple way to publish a portfolio is to write an e-mail "yourname"@posterous.com with the dcr-file attached!!! - and you own a blog named  "www.posterous.com/yourname" in no time - for free.
    example: http://ardigi.posterous.com/designaspekte (german only)
For a portfolio (of a professional in the digital domain) it is better to consider jchunks hints and use state of the art tools.
I myself consider free web 2.0 tools as always state of the art in the ever changing tool-world, and feel free to use programms I like to work with.....
Thank you too for your question, because I´ve clearified s.th. for my own now.

  • Search and replace characters in a string

I am very new to Sharepoint and need your help.  I have set up a calculated column in a sharepoint list that combines a IT release number to its Release title.  The list is set to appear on a calendar plus web part.  The idea is to show
the title and release number of all deployments going to the field on a particular day.  The issue is that the release number has a bunch of zero's in it that I do not need to be displayed.  For example a release number could be "RND000000123456".
I need to parse out "D000000" so only "RN123456" along with its title show up on the calendar.  Please help!!

Go here and search for "Remove characters":
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/bb862071(v=office.14).aspx
    From that page:
    Remove characters from text
To remove characters from text, use the LEN, LEFT, and RIGHT functions.
    Column1
    Formula
    Description (possible result)
    Vitamin A
    =LEFT([Column1],LEN([Column1])-2)
Returns 7 (9-2) characters, starting from left (Vitamin)
    Vitamin B1
    =RIGHT([Column1], LEN([Column1])-8)
Returns 2 (10-8) characters, starting from right (B1)

  • How to search for brackets in wildcards?

Is there any way to search for ALL characters (including punctuation, dashes, and spaces) that are within brackets [ ], including the brackets? For example, after wildcard searching, I would like ALL of  [test1123 abc 7.77]  or [aaa 3_1 abc 7.77] to be highlighted (including the brackets) so that I could make them as conditional text.
What is the proper wildcard search string that I should enter? Thanks.

    zeedale,
There is no simple, one-shot solution from within FrameMaker. The Wildcard option does not give you a full-fledged regular expression search engine, although that would be nice. The official explanation of wildcard character options is here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/9.0/Using/WSd817046a44e105e21e63e3d11ab7f7862b-7ff6 .html
One thing could be more precise in the docs: * is for one or more word characters, like | stands for one or more non-word characters.
To achieve your goal I would suggest to do as follows:
To find all one-word instances, search for \[*\] - you have to use \[ for each literal [ because the brackerts are special characters as soon as the Wildcard option is selected
To find two-word instances, search for \[*|*\], etc.
    HTH,

  • Searching for En-Dash or Em-Dash vs Hyphen

    Greetings,
I use Acrobat 6.0 to edit Framemaker documents that have been converted ("Save As" I believe, not "Print to PDF") to PDF files.
I have a huge document and am searching to find proper use of hyphens vs En or Em dashes, but when I search for either hyphen, En-dash (Alt+0150) Em-dash (Alt+0151), my search results include all three.
I've tried using quotation marks around each item, but then I don't get any results, though my personal notes say to use quotation marks for fancy searches. I am able to find asterisks, slashes, and the like.
I could just search for hyphens and look at them all, but with 3827 found, that's a LOT of looking!
Is there a way to search for special characters that might catch the difference between a hyphen and a dash?
    Thanks,
    Solon

OS X and iOS are both Unicode and creating a character like that should not depend on the font unless the user has added something very non-standard to his system.
I was referring to how the characters look with different font faces. E.g., here is what they look like in LucidaGrande where the width for dash and en-dash are virtually the same:
    - (dash)
    – (alt-dash)
    — (shift-alt-dash)

Hi there. I can query for acceptable characters but would like to query for unacceptable characters. Please see the below thread. thanks in advance!
How to find Special Characters in a table ?
    ~Darby

Sorry, missed it in the other post (already saturday here). So without using regular expressions. I'm a little confused now I must say.
You want to search for unacceptable characters (I assume those characters are known this time):

  • Using get-aduser to search for enabled users in entire domain filter ..

    Hi,
    my first post here.
I have the following problem. I am trying to figure out to create a powershell command (with get-aduser) that searches for only enabled
users (in the entire domain),  whose user account login names starts with "b" or "B" (because their user account login names are composed of Bnnnnn, n=numbers). I suppose that a string of "B*" in the command should be sufficient. The query result
must show the user account login name (Bnnnnn),  first name
and last name  and the enabled  (yes) status  of those enabled users. I would like to write the entire query result to a file (csv format), saving it to c: for example
    Please help. Thanks in advance

I use -LDAPFilter mostly because I am used to the LDAP syntax. It can be used in PowerShell, VBScript, dsquery, VB, and many command line utilities (like Joe Richards' free adfind utility). Active Directory is an LDAP compliant database.
The PowerShell -Filter syntax can do the same things, but the properties it exposes are really aliases. I'm used to the AD attribute names, like sAMAccountName and userAccountControl. PowerShell uses things like "enabled" and "surname", which are aliases
you need to know or look up. For example, the Get-ADUser default and extended properties, with the actual AD attributes they are based on, are documented here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12037.active-directory-get-aduser-default-and-extended-properties.aspx
Finally, note that the "Name" property refers to the Relative Distinguished Name (RDN) of the object, which for user objects is the value of the cn attribute (the Common Name of the user). This may not uniquely identify the user, as it only needs to be unique
in the parent OU/container. The user login name (pre-Windows 2000 logon name) is the value of the sAMAccountName attribute, which must be unique in the domain. In the Wiki article I linked, we see that the PowerShell alias for this attribute is "SamAccountName"
(in this case the name of the property matches the name of the AD attribute). All of this can be confusing.

  • HT1237 Searching for an EFI Firmware update to enable Lion Internet Recovery on MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010)

    Hi All,
My Mid-2010 Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch started having random kernel panics lately (more than 1 month of random kernel panics now), usually associated with request such as "open new tab in Safari" etc.
Since I installed 2x4GB RAM modules from Crucial when I bought my MBP (they are +- 2 years old now) and also exchanged my DVD-drive for an extra SSD that now runs the system (fully updated 10.7.4) I have a feeling that those kernel panics might be HW related.
I wanted to run Apple Hardware Test but found out that it is no longer supported on Lion. Since I don't have any optical drive to install AHT from (also I don't have the CDs with me atm), I found out that I can install an EFI Firmware update that enables internet-based (?) AHT.
At http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4904# , the link from MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) links to MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.6 which is for Early 2010 models only and doesn't allow me to run the installation process. I'm looking for an EFI update to enable Apple Hardware Test on my Mid-2010 Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch.
Is there an update that can do this? Is there a wrong hyperlink on Apple page or am I searching for a wrong update?
Also, even though this should probably be in a separate topic, can anyone please point me to the right direction for a good Apple Kernel Panic how-to-read-those topic?
Thank you very much in advance.

  • How to search for a variety of characters

I am working on a document wherein a script I ran has applied differential results to page indicators. I am trying to ensure that I have easy accessibility to indexing in an e-book format, and so I am doing the following:
1.) Inserting notes at physical page breaks in the print layout in InDesign
    2.) making those notes visible
3.) applying the "page" style to them, which I have set to display hidden in my CSS but will allow me to insert anchor points for a hyperlink index
The problem is the note shows up differentially. Some say:
{~?~PG: @##@} while others show {~?~PG: %##%} where ## represents some page number. The @##@ received the page style properly, but not the %#%. What would be the GREP approach to searching for every instance of {~?~PG: %##%} and applying the page style to it?
I know how to make sure that the page style is applied. I know that I'd use (\d+) for the numbers. I don't know hwo to represent the brackets, tildes, question marks, or other characters. Is there a good reference for this somewhere or perhaps a tutorial? I hate to bug the forum community with it. I just don't know where to go to get the info I need.
Edit: To be clear, I'm trying to search for the string
    {~?~PG: %##%}
All of the characters in the string are the same each time, but the numbers are sequentially higher and higher. There are hundreds of these in my document, so replacing each manually is taking a long time. Thanks for any feedback.
Edit #2: After a lot of trial and error, I nailed it. This worked for me:
    \{(.+)\%(\d+)\%.
I left the "change to" blank and in the big Change Format window, I added character style "page", though of course this is going to be different for you depending on how you have the name of that style set up in your CSS file if you're making an e-book too. : )

You should definitely look into full-text search. The idea that Kalman floated is doable, but it require a lot more work on your part. Full-text does a lot work for you, for instance handling inflections, so that a search on "goose" will get a
    hit on "geese".
If you have never worked with full-text search before, I recommend to get your hands on this book:
    http://www.sqlservermvpdeepdives.com/
    http://www.amazon.com/SQL-Server-MVP-Deep-Dives/dp/1935182048/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400851023&sr=8-1&keywords=sql+server+mvp+deep+dives
This book is a collection of chapters written by a number of SQL Server MVPs, and all our royalties goes to War Child International, so you are supporting a good aim if you buy this book.
Chapter 13 by Robert Cain is an excellent introduction to full-text search, although it does not handle Semantic Search added in SQL 2012.
As it happens, my chapter, describes a solution of what Kalman had in mind, although it aimed for the case where you want to permit users to search arbitrary character sequence, and that is not want you want.
