  • Create override for monitors via powershell

    I'll cut to the chase, i've already got a powershell script for OVERRIDING rules, but I now need one to do the same for Monitors. I also want to be clear that I do not wish to disable them. My reason for doing this is to stop monitoring for SQL, thus allowing
    me to decide what I'd like to monitor and turn things back on one at a time.
    I've already searched this forum and found numerous topics, all pretty much saying that's not possible. But these were topics from a few years ago, so I'm just seeing if anyone else has come across a way to do this more recently.
    I'm using SCOM 2012 R2, running Powershell v3.
    Dave.

    So the script I'm running is:
    $Product = 'Microsoft.SQLServer.2012'
    $list = Get-SCOMRule | Where-Object {$_.ManagementPackName -like "$($Product)*"}
    foreach ($rule in $list) {
    C:\scripts\CreateOverride.ps1 –ManagementServer ‘ManagementServer’ –ManagementPackID "($Product)_Overrides" –WorkflowID $rule.name –PropertyName ‘Enabled’ –PropertyValue ‘False’ –Enforced ‘True’ –ContextID ‘Microsoft.Windows.Server.Computer’
    Not the easiest thing to read, but the CreateOverride.ps1 is in the fact the script from the blog. This works perfectly for Rules. It will run through, identify every Rule for SQLServer 2012 and override them to FALSE.
    My problem is, I'm having an issue doing this for Monitors. Mainly because 'ManagementPackName' isn't a valid property for a Monitor.

  • Jstack shows a thread waiting for monitor entry but it's already acquired

    I have a heavy load website powered by tomcat-6.0.14 and jdk1.6.0_02-b05(amd64) on a 2 dual-core amd Opteron. When tomcat started, and I directed the http request(~200/s) abruptly to tomcat, it looks choked for over one minute, and if I took off the http requests, tomcat can recover in a few minutes.
    Then I use jstack during the choke time to find what's the cause, where I found a strange situation. Almost all threads are blocking on getting a log4j lock(I think it's normal,since log4j use a coarse lock), but one thread which already got the lock are also blocked. Below is the stack trace.

    What's the cause? Is jstack accurate? Or, the problem is caused by hotspot compling since tomcat is just started? Or it's just because log4j's coarse lock? ( but after the starup, tomcat can handle the same traffic without any problem, and jstack shows no log4j block at all.)
    Thanks in advance.

    The thread must have entered into a synchronized block/method1() and acquired a lock.
    - locked <0x00002aaab39d5670> (a org.apache.log4j.spi.RootLogger)
    While having lock the thread might be trying to acquire a lock to another synchronized block/method2()
    waiting for monitor entry
    java.lang.Thread.State: BLOCKED (on object monitor)
    and someother thread might have already acquired a lock to that block/method2().
    Can we check for Dead Lock??

  • Recommendations for Monitoring Tomcat?

    The best I could find on this forum regarding monitoring TomCat is this thread from 2009:
    Monitoring Tomcat
    which describes to use a Virtual Agent and probably the mentioned Ant Tasks.
    Is this Virtual Agent really necessary or do we have any pointers describing the ServerStats side of requirements for native JMX in OATS 9.30 ?
    The Apache TomCat website [1] has documentation on how to enable JMX and configure the RMI ports.
    This also covers the configuration of JMX remote Ant Tasks which requires to copy catalina-ant.jar from $CATALINA_HOME/lib to $ANT_HOME/lib.
    The following Java World article talks about three other JARs that are needed for monitoring TomCat with MC4J [2].
    You need the catalina.jar, catalina-cluster.jar, and catalina-optional.jar files (located in %CATALINA_HOME%\server\lib\) specified in the classPathEntries property.
    Are these the configuration JARs that need to be added for Apache Tomcat to OATS ?
    As a last resort, would any of the frameworks discussed in the introduction of the JavaWorld article [2] be suitable for OATS ?
    * XMOJO
    * jManage
    * MX4J
    * Spring JMX
    * JMX-HTML adaptor

    Kind regards,

  • Need an approach regarding reporting for a one-to-many primary-child relationship, where there are more than three child objects for a primary object for reporting purpose

    Business Scenario- We have a parent organization with 6 different Business Units.One BU requires 9 stages for for Opportunity(Tender) Tracking.The client requirement is to show the basic details of the tender at the header level and to show details specific to individual sales stage as different tabs.There will be multiple opportunity members added as opportunity team and will be responsible for capturing details specific to individual sales stage(tab). The Tab should be enabled and disabled based on the role. Reporting is required against each stage with specific fields of child objects against each opportunity.
    We created multiple children entities under the oportunity(one to many mapping) but we are unable to add more than 3 child objects for a primary object for reporting purpose.
    Kindly suggest what needs to be done to meet the requirement

    Can you provide the exact steps you took to  "created multiple children entities under the oportunity" ?

  • How to create authorisation object for save button please help in abap

    how to create authorisation object for save button please help in abap

    Hi
    In general different users will be given different authorizations based on their role in the orgn.
    We create ROLES and assign the Authorization and TCODES for that role, so only that user can have access to those T Codes.
    USe SUIM and SU21 T codes for this.
    Much of the data in an R/3 system has to be protected so that unauthorized users cannot access it. Therefore the appropriate authorization is required before a user can carry out certain actions in the system. When you log on to the R/3 system, the system checks in the user master record to see which transactions you are authorized to use. An authorization check is implemented for every sensitive transaction.
    If you wish to protect a transaction that you have programmed yourself, then you must implement an authorization check.
    This means you have to allocate an authorization object in the definition of the transaction.
    For example:
    program an AUTHORITY-CHECK.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT <authorization object>
    ID <authority field 1> FIELD <field value 1>.
    ID <authority field 2> FIELD <field value 2>.
    ID <authority-field n> FIELD <field value n>.
    The OBJECT parameter specifies the authorization object.
    The ID parameter specifies an authorization field (in the authorization object).
    The FIELD parameter specifies a value for the authorization field.
    The authorization object and its fields have to be suitable for the transaction. In most cases you will be able to use the existing authorization objects to protect your data. But new developments may require that you define new authorization objects and fields.

    To ensure that a user has the appropriate authorizations when he or she performs an action, users are subject to authorization checks.
    Authorization : An authorization enables you to perform a particular activity in the SAP System, based on a set of authorization object field values.
    You program the authorization check using the ABAP statement AUTHORITY-CHECK.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_TRVL_BKS'
    ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '02'
    ID 'CUSTTYPE' FIELD 'B'.
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    MESSAGE E...
    ENDIF.
    'S_TRVL_BKS' is a auth. object
    ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '02' in place 2 you can put 1,2, 3 for change create or display.
    The AUTHORITY-CHECK checks whether a user has the appropriate authorization to execute a particular activity.
    This Authorization concept is somewhat linked with BASIS people.
    As a developer you may not have access to access to SU21 Transaction where you have to define, authorizations, Objects and for nthat object you assign fields and values. Another Tcode is PFCG where you can assign these authrization objects and TCodes for a  profile and that profile in turn attached to a particular user.
    Take the help of the basis Guy and create and use.

  • Waiting for monitor enty messages in thread dump

    Hi,
    I've a thread dump of a container in a Oracle Application Server 9.0.4.1 (running 1.4.2_07) right before restart because off low memory and a lot of threads in this dump are in this state:
    "AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-1588" prio=1 tid=0x37634bf8 nid=0x1982 waiting for monitor entry [43f22000..43f2386c]
    can anyone tell me what this means? Google didn't reveal anything useful.
    Another thing I don't understand although it seems it doesn't do any harm:
    "AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-1630" prio=1 tid=0x09011a68 nid=0x1982 in Object.wait() [40276000..4027686c]

    why is this thread waiting for a lock itself has?
    Thanx for any help and hints in advance.

    Hi,
    I've a follow-up question, I have the following thread in several thread dumps:
    "AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-717" prio=1 tid=0x4046b988 nid=0x3dd3 waiting for monitor entry [3845e000..3845e86c]

         at com.evermind.server.http.StandardRequestLogger.log(StandardRequestLogger.java:45)
         - locked <0x663b2088> (a com.evermind.server.http.StandardRequestLogger)

         at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)
    What is the monitor this thread is waiting for? According to the source in Inet4Address at line 287 the method tries to create a new byte array... is there some system monitor which can't be seen in the thread dump?
    This thread holds a lock (0x663b2088) 46 other threads are waiting for...
    Thanx in advance for any hints.

  • Problem with enabling usage rights for Adobe Reader

    Hi All,
    I have designed a form using Live cycle. From Live cycle I export it as PDF. As a final step, I open the PDF by using acrobat professional to enable usage rights for Adobe Reader. As soon as I enble the rights it saves the document with a different name, which is fine. However; at the same time it also runs the postsave events from the form and removes a couple of objects. How do I avoid this? My form has very little code:
    There is a drop down field called 'LearningSolutionsAdvisor' which has the following code on PostSave event:
    NewHorizons.Page1.LearningSolutionsAdvisor::postSave - (FormCalc, client)
    LearningSolutionsAdvisor.access ="readOnly"
    There is 'Save' button which has the following code:
    NewHorizons.Page1.Save::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
    NewHorizons.Page1.Save::postSave - (FormCalc, client)
    Save.presence = "invisible"
    I thank you for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Girish

    This video is very helpful as it explains exactly what I want to do:  Extend Features in Adobe Reader, to allow my readers to save their changes.  However, I do not have that option in my version of Adobe X Pro 10.1.4.  Can anyone explain to me why I don't have that option, and what an alternative would be?

  • Configure CBQoS for monitoring.

      Hi, i want to configure CBQoS in a lot of 2960 switches (with snmp v1) for monitoring: jitter, delay and packets lost with PRTG software.
      I not found documentation for understand CBQoS, but i see this doc:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ios_xe/qos/configuration/guide/cbqos_mib_xe.html
      and when i put these commands:
    1. enable
    2. configure terminal
    3. snmp-server ifindex persist
    4. snmp mib persist [cbqos | v3mibs]
    5. end
    6. write mib-data
      I can't do the step 4
    Switch(config)#snmp mib ?
      community-map     Community Mapping as per RFC-2576
      notification-log  Configure the Notification Log MIB
      rep               Enable SNMP Resilient Ethernet Protocol options
      target            target extention CLI from SNMP
    PS: Or maybe is a simplest way to monitor QoS.
    Thanks!

    I realy sorry, i didn't realise for the IOS version. I'm replying myself:
      Upgrade IOS:
    c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE8
    to
    c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-2.SE4
    Switch(config)#snmp mib ?
      community-map     Community Mapping as per RFC-2576
      notification-log  Configure the Notification Log MIB
      persist           Persistence for MIBS
      target            target extention CLI from SNMP
    Now, i wiil try to get work CBQoS.
