Amusingly, I just watched Oracle's annoucement of the official release of Enteprise Manager 10gR5.
I believe you are asking for the Enterprise Manager DBConsole FOR Database 11g. In wich case, you would want to go to the Database 11g tutorials and OBEs as descreibed by others.

    Dear All,
I have just installed Oracle 11gR1 on centOS 5 operating system. During installation I checked the option to create sample schema. During installation the installer displayed some error message regarding Enterprise Manager and told that you can run the script manually after installation is complete with the script location i.e /<oracle_home>/bin/emca
After installtion i have run the script BUT now when i try to start dbconsole it fails.
When i run emctl status agent it says agent is not running.

  • Oracle XE enterprise manager

Installed and used oracle XE with the cut down enterprise manager. I opted not to restart the db on reboot. Now there's no enterprise manager, no emctl, no documentation on starting it back up again. ANyone come across this?
I know this is not really a grid question, but you can only register for the XE discussion forum from a link on the em xe home... grr.

I think that XE comes with HTMLDB application for XE database control and not with EM console.Actually EM DB console that comes with Enterprise edition is an additional component even in Enterprise edition.

  • Oracle Database 11gR1 Enterprise Manager Console Cannot Display in Browser

    Folks,
Hello. I am running Oracle Database 11gR1 with Operaing System Oracle Linux 5. I have some issues regarding EM connects with the Database Server as below:
First, the default listener is LISTENER with standard port number 1521 and protocol TCP/IP.
Its corresponding service naming S1 is with port 1521 and protocol TCP/IP and hostname localhost.localdomain.
I run this listener in the following way:
Step 1: [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER (This command runs sucessfully.)
Step 2: [user@localhost bin] ./sqlplus SYS/SYS as sysdba (This command starts sqlplus sucessfully.)
Step 3: [user@localhost sqldeveloper] ./sqldeveloper.sh (This command invokes SQL Developer sucessfully.)
But when start Enterprise Manager Console, it cannot connect with the Database. I do it in this way:
    [user@localhost bin] ./emctl start dbconsole
    The above command's output is:
    https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control ... ...
When open the link https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication in browser, this message comes up:
The connection to localhost.localdomain: 1158 cannot be established.
Thus, I add Port Number 1158 into both LISTENER and Service Naming S1. I run ./emctl start dbconsole again and get this message:
The connection to localhost.localdomain:1158 was interrupted while the page was loading.
In order to solve the above issue, I create another listener LISTENER2 and another Service Naming S2 with Port Number 1158 and protocol TCP/IP because
in my point of view, each listener only can have one Port Number(1521 or 1158) and its corresponding Service Naming (S1 or S2) need to have the same Port Number and Protocol (TCP/IP).
But when I run [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER2, this message comes up: the listener supports no service.
From the message, it seems that LISTENER2 cannot work with its corresponding Service Naming S2 with Port 1158.
EM with Port 1158 cannot display in Browser.
    My questions are :
First, Is there any relationship needed to be established between listener(LISTENER2) and Service Naming(S2) in order to display EM in Browser ?
Second, how do folks display EM in browser ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. I do the following command: [user@localhost bin]$ wget http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em
    The command returns the message:

The above message repeats again and again until finally returns the following message:
    11:39:02 (40.2 KB/s) - Read error at byte 7 (Connection reset by peer).Giving up.
In browser, http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em cannot display and pop up a Windows with the message: You have chosen to open whicn is BIN file from http://localhost.localdomain:1158 What sholud FireFox do with this file ? Save to Disk ?

  • How to drop  EM Oracle Enterprise Manager component from database.

We have database that somebody used in past as EM Grid repository. This no longer in use. Looking for documentation on how to drop it. If somebody knows please provide me with link to appropriate Oracle document.
    Oracle version 11gR1.
    Thanks.

I suspect that if you cannot locate the instructions on the proper way to remove EM that you can drop the owning repositiry user sysman from the database then cleanup any database parameters related to EM.
I would think the place to start would be the EM (Grid Control) installation manual for your version of Oracle and platform.

  • Problem with login using Oracle Enterprise Manager

I am new to Oracle. I installed the software (my Operating System is Windows XP) and created a database following the guidelines in the documentation and Oracle By Example. Now I can not log on as the user SYS through the Enterprise Manager. However, I can login through SQL Plus. I am using the password that I assigned during the installation.
In OBE, I got stuck at the step where you check the status of (or start) the dbconsole. I went to the DOS prompt and typed:
    emctl status dbconsole
    I got the error:

    Tony Cool,
Please don't post this in every forum you can spell. You also posted this as [email protected] in comp.databases.oracle.server.
The only thing you should do is
Look up the error messages in the online documentation and work from there.
This are known errors, the solution is all over the Internet, there is really no need for you to request volunteers to deliver it on your doorstep for free.

Database version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit
How to configure Oracle Enterprise Manager for this environment ?
I need documentation for this please.
    Many thanks & Regards,,

Assuming an agent is running on the servers you want to monitor,
navigate to the Agent home page (Via setup --> Agent)
When in the agent home page select 'Add Database'and press [Go]
Assuming yopur database now gets recognized, select the Configure icon and enter the password for dbsnmp.
When done, press [Ok] to return to the agent home page.
    Regards

I tried various combinations of this command:

    Again,
How do I create a new emkey for Enterprise Manager Database Control?
I do have a copy of my old key but it is no longer good because I reinstalled the repository with these commands:
    emca -repos drop ...
    emca -repos create ...
Oh, and where is emctl "documented".
I poked around in some book-index links and with the search engine.
    I could not find anything.
    Thanks,
    -Janis

  • Job option in the Enterprise Manager Console

    Hello,
I had just installed an 9.2.0.1 oracle db. In my Enterprise Manager Console, i don't see the job and event option like the documentation shows it. Can anybody tells me how to have these options in my Console ?
    Thank's in advance

Log into the OEM Console as the SYSMAN account. Click the "Manage Administrators" selection from the "Configuration" Menu. Select your ID and click the "Edit" button. Click the "Access to Job System" and "Access to Event System" check boxes, and click OK.
Refresh the OEM session under your ID and you should see the "Events" and "Jobs" branches of the Navigator tree.

  • LogMiner Viewer in the Enterprise Manager 10g ??

Does somebody know if there is LogMiner Viewer in the Enterprise Manager 10g?
How could I do to work with this tool ?
    Thanks

There is a 10g style. It comes with the client software. It is very much a stripped down version. I downloaded it and installed it. I could not find Logminer viewer in it. I did find some documentation. Here is what it says.
    Launching LogMiner Viewer
To launch LogMiner Viewer, take the following steps:
Invoke LogMiner Viewer: On UNIX platforms, enter:oemapp lmviewer
The command string is case-sensitive and must be entered with lowercase characters.
On Windows NT, from the Programs menu,
choose Oracle_home > Database Administration > LogMiner Viewer.
After you invoke LogMiner Viewer, the Login dialog box is displayed.
    Select Launch standalone.
Now, you can connect to a standalone Oracle Enterprise Manager repository.
If you do not have a standalone repository or if LogMiner Viewer is not aware
of an existing standalone repository, you cannot save queries.
When you attempt to expand a database or save a query, LogMiner Viewer displays
an informational message and leads you through a dialog to connect to or to create
a repository. See Connecting to or Creating a Standalone Repository for more information.
    Click OK.

  • Enterprise manager for 11g

I have installed Oracle Enterprise Database 11g on a Windows 2003 Server. I have been going through some documentation and it sometimes refers to tabs and features that I cannot find in EM. I have since found out that the default install does not come with the 'Full' EM. The only one i seem to be able to find, download and install is for 10g.
Also, I want to install this on a Client Machine, not the DB Server.
Is there a full EM for 11g somewhere that I am not finding? All my searches point me back to the 10g EM download Page
    Thanks

Oracle used to have a client-server Java Enterprise Manager console. Ths was popular and extremely functional in Oracle9i.
With Oracle 10g, Oracle replaced the client-server console with a 3-tier 'browser based' console. That client-server tool was deprecated but still available on the Client CD. As of 11g that OEM Application was totally removed.
However, looking at the statement you quote (from page 91):
"The Oracle Enterprise Manager Central Console is a Web-based interface for managing the entire enterprise from the console. It offers a lot more functionality than the standard Oracle Enterprise Manager that comes with a typical database install."There are a few keywords here: "Central Console" and "managing the entire enterprise" lead me to believe the author is talking about the Grid Control. Similar to the DB Console that comes with the default install of the database, the Grid Control console has the following characteristics:
    - it is centralized (uses a separate computer to host the enterprise-wide OEM repository)
    - it allows monitoring and administration* of all Oracle products and many non-Oracle products
    - it it web-based and indeed, when looking at a database admin page, itr looks a lot like the DB console
    - it can consolidate the monitoring summary info about several products into a single page
    - it has reports and schedule capability not found in the native DB console
    - it places much less load on the db machine than the DB Console
    * in some cases Grid Control simply invokes the admin tool from the product rather than duplicating the product admin capability.
