Entity Bean Connecting table in SQL Server

Hi Guys
Since many days I have been struggling to make my code work. I am newbie to Workshop. I set up a new connection pool and then set up a datasource on that pool through the console. When I do a "Test" on the connection pool it gives an error saying "testtablename is not correct or some attributes have not been enabled". I am kind of stuck and don't know how to proceed from here. any help appreciated......
Sudhir

I might first check to see if the table name is correct.
Are you able to do 'SELECT *' from the table using a standalone SQL client ? (like SQLPlus if your database is on Oracle)

    If you have selected IKM MSSQL Incremental Update then it is the correct IKM to choose.
    To use this IKM, the staging area must be on the same data server as the target.
    What is the LKM selected ?
    I right clicked on the Reverse-Engineering (RKM) models and imported all knowledge modules.. Is that how its done ?
    It is fine.
    is that the correct one...I donot understand why the interface is trying to drop and create a view in source system..
    It depends on the KM selected . So first get the name of LKM and IKM used in interface.

  • Exceptions thrown while importing tables from SQL Server 2000

    Hi all,

    I cannot import the tables defined in my local SQL Server. An exception is thrown --oracle.jdeveloper.cm.ds.db.ValidationException: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.

    <What I have done:
    In Oracle JDev 10g, Created a new DB connection called "SQLServerConnection" to connect to the SQL Server and it works fine. I am able to see all tables by expanding the connection.
    During the creation of a new partner link named "DBAdapter", I use the adapter wizard to select DB Adapter and then select the "SQLServerConnection" DB connection I have created. I select Perform an Operation on a Table and then check Select. After I pressed OK button on the[i] Import Tables  dialog, a Error messege box emmerged indicating the Exception: Columns of type varchar cannot have a size specified.
    I try to change the data type of the columns of the tables to char, there is still similar exception (Columns of type char cannot have a size specified).

    I got the stack trace from the prompt by using jdev.exe.

    The I read somewhere on internet that I should set CLASSPATH in options field of concurrent program definition. So I provided classpath as follows:
    -cp /rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/appl/au/12.0.0/appsborg.zip:/rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/apps.zip:/rs01/u02/applmgr/utyeb02/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/sqljdbc_4.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar
    In this classpath sqljdbc.jar contains the classes for connecting to MS SQL Server DB. However after giving classpath like this I started getting different error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/apps/fnd/cp/request/Run
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.apps.fnd.cp.request.Run
         at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)
         at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
         at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306)
         at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:276)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:251)
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:319)
    It appears from the error message that after giving this CLASSPATH, program was not able to find the "Run" method itself. In otherwords, CLASSPATH screwed it further.
    Can anybody please point out what am I doing wrong here?

  • How to connect to a Sql server from Oracle using db link

    Hi All,
    Does anybody have any idea about how to connect to a sql server from oracle database using db link to syncronize the data? I need to pull the data from Sql server table to Oracle tables and relay messages back to the sql server.
    Thank you,
    Praveen.

    we have 2 products - DG4MSQL and DG4ODBC.
    DG4ODBC is for free and requires a 3rd party ODBC driver and it can connect to any 3rd party database as long as you use a suitable ODBC driver
    DG4MSQL is more powerfull as it is designed for MS SQL Server databases and it supports many functions it can directly map to SQL Server equivalents - it can also call remote procedures or participtae in distributed transactions. Please be aware DG4MSQL requires a license - it is not for free.
    Check out Metalink and you'll find notes how to configure both products.

  • Best practise for creating an application that connects to a SQL Server database

    I have created an application that connects to a SQL Server database and views information using a datagrid and performs several updates when a button

    I have created a SQLcontrol.vb using the following code:

    Imports System.Data.SqlClient
    Public Class SQlControl
    'connection 1
        Public SQLCon As New SqlConnection With {.ConnectionString

    I am fairly new to vb.net and have read a few books and followed a few tutorials on youtube, what I would like to know is, are there any disadvantages
    to the way I have connected to a SQL database using the SQLControl.vb.  A lot of the vb books include data adapter and dataset within the form, I'm not sure if I'm following best practice by have the connection details outside of the form.
    My other question is, I have created two connections in the SQLControl and call these connections within the same form using the same data adapter
    and dataset.  It all works fine but I just wanted to know of any potential issues?
    Public SQLCon As New SqlConnection With {.ConnectionString
    = "Data Source=;Initial Catalog=;Integrated Security=True"}
    'connection 2
        Public SQLCon1 As New SqlConnection With {.ConnectionString
    = "Data Source;Initial Catalog=;Integrated Security=True"}
    Thanks

    1) You are not using Sepration of concerns for a solution that is doing data access, like using a DAL.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_concerns
    2) You are directly issuing SQL commands at the UI, leading to sql injection attacks.
    3) You are not using a UI design pattern, which leads you to tightly couple database activity to the UI.
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/228214/Understanding-Basics-of-UI-Design-Pattern-MVC-MVP
    @System243trd, parameters are important to prevent SQL injection attacks (people will insert SQL commands into the database if you do not perform basic checking of what you are passing to the database). If you write a stored procedure try to make
    the variables the correct SQL server data type to avoid problems later of people trying to call it directly.  Darnold924 is right, I see no code to prevent against SQL injection attacks. In addition, during development in some instances LocalSQLDB
    database system is used and during deployment you usually need to use the production SQL server database. Moreover,  Linq-to-SQL is used on Windows Phone 8.1 and it is required for phone development later and so I highly recommend learning
    it if you plan on developing windows phone applications.
    @System243trd, If you want the code for the windows phone app I think it uses the MVVM model or that might be for universal apps or regular windows phone apps. I have been using the windows phone Silverlight pivot or panorama template (it might
    be pieces of both). I've already submitted to the windows phone marketplace and it had to go through certification first. I plan on later making an article on it but I need to first fix one or two simple problems I have with it.  Here's a link to
    the source code if you later want to look at the source code (in vb.net):

  • Reading table of SQL server

    Hi,
    i want to read a table from SQL server, outside of sap.
    How can i do that, without database connection?
    I want to do it through webservice but i do not know how to do.
    Answers will be appreciated immediately.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sandra,
    Thank you for the response.
    I could able to fetch the document related data by using the FM 'BAPI_DOUMENT_GETDETAIL2' and it is working fine but not returning the file content into an internal table. Today I even able to  find a function module 'SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT' to load the file content into binary.
    Now, the problem is  to create an attachment to the quality manangement tab of material master. I could able to add a subscreen to it and trying to display the file(s) as an attachment(s).
    I have tried 'SDOK_PHIO_CREATE' , 'SO_ATTACHMENT_INSERT_API1' (not for mail attachment)etc. function modules but couldn't able to find the soultion. I also got a file namely 'CA-PLM u2013 Product Lifecycle Management Functional Overview' which talks ablout the DMS Management. But the function modules specified in this doc from SAP AG are used for Document info record manipulations but not the attachments assigned to them.
    So, I request you to let me know some FMs which can be used to achieve this attachment creation requirement.
    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Naresh.

  • Issue while connecting to MS SQL Server 2008

    Hi everyone,
    I have not seen any thread that gives me a clue to my problem.
    I have OBIEE 10.1.3.4.0 on Windows.
    I have created an ODBC3.5 Datasource to a SQL Server 2008 and the test connection is successful.
    I have also imported the tables from the SQL Server 2008 into the Physical Layer of the OBIEE Administration tool. However after check-in, my problem begins trying to do an Update Row Count with the following Error message:
    NQODBCSQL_STATE: HY000nQSError: 10058 A general error has occurred.
    nQSError: 43093 An error occured while processingthe EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
    nQSError: 16023 The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down.
    Any suggestion or pointer will be greatly appreciated.

    Reading your post Issue in connecting to MS SQL Server 2008 I guess this thread here can be closed.
    Cheers,
    C.

  • Cant export worksheet when connected to MS SQL Server 2000

    SQL Developer version: 1.5.1
    Hello,
    I have a connection to an SQL Server 2000 database. I can select data with an "order by" clause but I receive an error when I attempt to do an "Export --> xls" on the worksheet data. I dont think this was a problem prior to SQL Developer 1.5.
    No export error occurs if the "order by" cluase is removed.
    Here is an example of a select stmt that generates the error.
    select LastName, FirstName, EmployeeID
    from northwind.dbo.employees
    order by LastName, FirstName
    Here are the error details:
    First dialog box error text: The ORDER BY clause is invalid in views, inline functions, derived tables, and subqueries, unless TOP is also specified.

    The table selected from is not a view, inline function, derived table, or subquery (as the error suggests). I can work around the problem by adding "TOP nnnn" to the select statement but this shouldn't be required.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    I confirmed that this is not a problem in SQL Developer 1.2.1.32.13. It started with 1.5. In 1.5.1.5540 I can successfully run the query and see the output in the Results tab. Only the Export has the error.

  • How to transfer database tables from sql server 2000 to oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I have a database and tables in sql server 2000. I have to transfer those data to Oracle 10g. I have installed Oracle warehouse Builder ETL Tool. Using this how can i transfer data. Any help is vary helpful for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    you have to do it using ODBC HS.
    1. Configure ODBC connection through gateway.
    2. Create a initxxx.ora file with HS config.
    restart gateway listener services
    3. on target o/s add entries to your tnsnames.ora
    4. On your target o/s create a db link
    restart listener on target
    cheeck this out.Non-Oracle connection through HS issue

  • User objects didn't display in SQL developer connecting to MS SQL server

    I follow the document steps and successfully connected to MS SQL server. I can connect and see all the objects in MS SQL if I use the SQL account with sysadmin role. Everything works fine for using the MS SQL account with sysadmin role.
    However, if I use a SQL account that only have db_datareader role only, it connects fine. I can run a select statement to select any dbo tables and get data return, but I can't see any dbo objects list on the left navigator bar. It will be very helpful for users to see the objects and names in the navigator bar.
    Is there anything special I have to setup in order for the objects to display in the navigator bar for MS SQL server with account have db_datareader only?

    Hi user615547 ,
    I do not see a bug logged on this.
    The only issue I can remember beyond db_datareader is that you need
    -grant view definition to <user>
    on SQL Server 2005 to view a stored procedure definition that is not yours. Even if you have execute privilege you may not have view source privilege.
    Can your dba illuminate how the database was locked down?
    What version of SQL Server are you using ?
    Which specific object browsers are failing or, are all the object browsers failing?
    Does the database capture correctly? (browse and capture use slightly different queries.) You will need to create a repository on oracle and 'capture' the sql server database).

  • Import Access Table into SQL Server 2005

    I am using BIDS and have created a OLEDB connection to my mdb file, and a DataFlowTask for the Control Flow, but lost on what to set-up on the Data Flow tab.  What do I do to set-up the data flow to import the mdb table to sql server?

    Why Execute SQL Task is needed?
    Typically the SQL is embedded into the OLEDB Source.
    I guess when you were working on the destination you chose to create the table. Then you mapped to it. Why you cannot find it in
    options I am not sure. Can you post a picture? The table would be now in the drop down list of tables available, but you supposed not to repeat this step.

    Maybe I am just not fully understanding the link posted - but am trying.  Attached are my screenshots 1 of Control Flow Tab and 2 of Data Flow Tab.  My process is to take an access table and link it into SQL Server

  • Read Oracle 10g Tables to SQL Server 2012

    Hi all,
    I have Oracle 10g on an XP machine, and use the 'Oracle in OraDB10g_home1' driver to read the data. I have another Windows Server 2008 R2 machine on the same network, with SQL Server 2012 on it. What is the best way to read Oracle Tables in SQL Server? Can I setup an ODBC link from my Windows Server machine to the Oracle Database (which would require me to download an Oracle ODBC driver)? Or is the best way to export the required tables from Oracle (e.g. into csv format) and import them into SQL?
    Thanking you in advance,
    Imelda.

    Following is a demonstration in ASKTOM to connect from Oracle to Excel, You can use the same to connect to SQL Server.

  • How to connect to MS SQL server using JSP?

    Hi, i am new to JSP so i would like to know what is the code to create a connection to MS SQL server.
    I am using jakarta-tomcat 4 as my server.
    sorry for any inconvenient....
    pls help me....

    This works to start off with but there are more sophisticated/ different ways of doing things,for instance it's best not to access the db via your jsp, rather do this logic in JavaBeans, Servlets or use Struts.Therefore, it's best that you consult with others and find out which is best way to go about creating your web apps.
    Here's some code:
    In my jsp's I access the bean below , instantiate a statement object and go on from there:
    *SOME of the code in the JSP's.
    //create bean instance
    <jsp:useBean id='dbConn' class='projectsevenhouses.DatabaseConnectionBean ' scope='session' />
    //instantiate statement
    Statement st = dbConn.getConnection().createStatement();
    * JavaBean
    package projectsevenhouses;
    public class DatabaseConnectionBean implements Serializable {
    private Connection conn;
    private Statement st;
    private String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:datasource";
    private static String driver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
    /** Creates a new instance of DatabaseConnectionBean */
    public DatabaseConnectionBean() {
    makeConnection();
    public void setDatabaseName(String dbName) {
    dbURL = dbName;
    private void makeConnection() {
    try {
    Class.forName(driver);
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL,"sa","");
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    System.out.println("SQL Cause ->" + e.toString());
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException cnf) {
    System.out.println("Class Not Found:" + cnf);
    public Connection getConnection() {
    if (conn == null) {
    makeConnection();
    return conn;
    public void setCloseConnection(boolean close) {
    if (close) {
    try {
    conn.close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    conn = null;
    Hope it gives u an idea...
    Ciao
