Env vars for C XML parser

I have had a lot of problems with the Oracle C XML parser. I have put a question in this forum before about SEGV errors when xmlinit is called but I suspects that somthing else (very mystery thing) is the real cause to this problem.
For now is status that I always gets error 201 when I calls xmlinit. My question is therefore: I have set the ORACLE_HOME to my Oracle installation directory. Do I have to set any more env var when I use the Oracle C parser?
null

Yes! When we get the error code 201 from the parser are an error message displayed. It is nearly always when the function xmlinit is called.
But we do not always get this error. Sometimes do we get a SEGV signal and a core dump when xmlinit is called. Sometimes does it work perfectly. It can be different from one compilation to another and feels very mystery. I have searched for some error that can cause this in my own code but not found anything yet. My own code are relatively robust with a lot of error checks and I am not sure that it is my own code that fails but it is only my own code I have access to :)
We used the XML Parser 1.01.0.0 until the last week then we found that there are a newer version available. We are now using the version 2.0.7.0.0 instead but without more success than before.
What I have done for the parser so far is to copy the files lpxus.msb and lpxus.msg to my $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/mesg directory. I have also set the env vars ORA_NLS, ORA_NLS32 and ORA_NLS33 to my $ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data directory. But I have got the parser to work without have set this env vars sometimes (and sometimes not) and I am really not sure if I have to set them as it says in the README.
We are using the parser only to parse our XML configuration file through calls to several get-function in the DOM api. The encoding for our XML file is plain US-ASCII and we have experimented with this encoding in the file (<?xml version="1.0" encoding="US-ASCII"?>) and as a param to the functions xmlinit and xmlparse. We have also tried to call this function with no coding at all (a NULL-pointer), the encoding ASCII and UTF-8 with no more success than before. We continues to more or less randomly get SEGV-error, error 201 or a working program.
The only params we gives to xmlinit is the errcode (the first param) and sometimes an error message handler function and the encoding. Never any other param.
I think this was a lot of information but I can give more to anyone who need it to help us to get the parser to work. We have spend a lot of time for this now and we'll possibly make a descision about this parser tomorrow. If we not knows that we can get it to work we have to build an another solution without this parser. But it would be a pity because I like the this parser and its apis (if it works).

  • Where are classes for oracle.xml.parser.v2?

    I have downloaded both V1 and V2 of the XML parser. I have managed to download the java classes under org.w3c.dom from www.w3.org but I can't find the classes under oracle.xml.parser.v2 (or without v2) anyway on technet. Both are required for import.
    I would have expected them to be in the ZIP files xmlparser_v1_0_2_0.zip and xmlparser_v2_0_2_7.zip but they don't seem to be. These contain the equivalent HTML files but not the class files themselves, so compiling the samples is not possible.
    Any help would be appreciated as this is becoming very frustrating.
    Thanks in advance

  • Documentation for Oracle XML parser Classes and Interfaces

    I would like to use the oracle XMLParser V2 classes with JDeveloper 3.1, but I cannot find any reference documentation for the classes and interfaces in help.
    I am especially interested in a documentation for the XSLProcessor class. The only information I found was provided with the few provided samples.

    I don't think the javadoc for this was included in the release. You can get the Javadoc (as well as the latest version of the XML Parser v2) here on OTN.

  • Bugs for Oracle XML parser

    What I first used was Oracle's xml parser
    (xmlparser2). I tried to read an xml file, change some nodes values, then write the file (using
    Transformer.transform) , all comment nodes <!--
    blha blha --> were changed to <?#comment
    ?>.
    I tried to work around this: try to remove all the comment nodes from the file it read and write to a new file. It did remove the nodes when using JDk1.3.1 on windows. It didn't remove when use JDK1.3.1 on Solaris.

    Would you provide detailed information or a sample code to me at [email protected]?

  • Is this a bug or a typo of XML Parser for PL/SQL or something else?

    Hello,
    Below is a piece of codes I copied from the sample that comes with the XML parser for PL/SQL. I found that this sample could not be compiled since:
    1- the method printElements takes in a parameter 'doc' of type 'xmldom.DOMDocument'
    2- then this 'doc' is refered to in API method
    xmldom.getElementsByTagName which takes two parameter, one of type DOMElement, the other of type char.
    Are these tow types compatible?
    where can i get a better documentation for the XML parser for PLSQ, the one come with the zip fileis not up to date since the miss documentation for DOM. thank you.

  • JNDI and env. vars. in ejb-jar.xml

    I have been trying for several days now to have my EJB session bean access
    its env. vars. stored in the ejb-jar.xml document. I have been unsuccessful.
    The only place I have been able to store my env. vars. is in the web.xml

    Thanks for the reference. I was using another book as a reference (Using
    Java 2 Enterprise Edition by Mark Wutka) which had the same sort of example
    and as you can see below, I coded my bean as they suggest...I'm still unable
    to access the env. vars.!
    I deployed by bean using WebLogic's Builder and but didn't create any sort
    of application. I let WebLogic do what it would on its own. The WebLogic
    documentation seemed to indicate for simple testing this would work
    fine...is it wrong?
    btw. MICRworks.MICR_ENV_TRUNCORP equates to "TruncateCorporate" as you
    probably guessed.
    The WebLogic Admin Console shows the environment variables in the EJB
    Descriptors for my EJB but they do not show up when I view the JNDI tree for
    my server. I have taken this to mean that the deployment tool is not
    binding my env. vars. for some reason which would explain why my bean can't
    find them.
    I know it must be something stupid I am doing (or not doing) but I just
    can't see it. Please help!

    Hello Marek,
    I would suggest that you download the free book "Mastering EJB 2ndEdition" by
    Ed Roman, Scott Ambler, and Tyler Jewell. The source code for the book isalso
    freely available and is meant to be deployed specifically on WebLogic.Look for
    a sample application called "Jasmine", which shows how to use environmententries.
    You will see a concrete example of how they are defined and later accessedfrom
    within EJBs. The book and source code are available at the followingaddress:

  • Looking for some basics/fundamentals of XML Parsing in ABAP

    Hello SAP gurus
    I have to start workign on a project that involves Variant Configuration stuff that will be sent as XML document. I have to parse the XML document and save the needed data in some custom tables. I heard that there are some standard functions that we can use to do this job. I tried searching SDN for string XML parsing and got tons of postings regarding this. I tried to go through them one by one but it was way beyond my understanding at this time. I am looking for the fundamentals or how to start from scratch.
    I would appreciate if anybody can guide me to find some kind tutorial or basic info on where and how to start.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Ram

    XML parsing through CALL TRANSFORMATION is one of the easiest method. A transformation needs to be created as per your XML data in transaction XSLT_TOOL and the transformation needs to be called in ABAP program using "CALL TRANSFORMATION" statement.
    Kindly search in internet for XSLT/simple transformations.

    Hi,
    Are you sure I can use the downloaded XML Parser for C v2 on Oracle 7.3 and Oracle 8? Because in the lib directory there are the following libraries:
    libcore8.a, libnls8.a, libxml8.a, libxmlc8.a
    I think they are for Oracle 8i instead. I tried to compiled the Oracle XML Parser for C v1.0.0.0.1 before on Oracle 7.3 and it failed because of libraries problem. How can I get the libraries required for Oracle 7.3 and Oracle 8? Please verify.

  • Oracle 8i XML Parser for PL/SQL

    Hi,
    Using "Building Oracle XML Applications" by O'reilly, I am
    trying to get XML working on an Oracle 8i database. I have done the following steps:
    1) verify oracle.xml.parser.v2.DOMParser class is running;
    select substr(dbms_java.longname(object_name),1,30) as class, status
    from all_objects
    where object_type = 'JAVA CLASS'
    and object_name = dbms_java.shortname('oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser');
    CLASS STATUS
    oracle/xml/parser/v2/DOMParser VALID
    OK
    2) Check for Oracle XML Parser for PL/SQL is installed:
    DESCRIBE xmlparser
    ERROR:
    ORA-04043: object xmlparser does not exist
    So apparently i need to download the Oracle XML Parser for PL/SQL.
    I cannot locate this download on the oracle site for version 8i (8.1.7.4 specifically).
    Any helpers out there?

    You can use the latest version.

    As our application uses AXIS to do WebServices, we have removed the default oracle xml shared library by using remove-inherited in orion-application.xml. In addition, we package our own xerces in our application ear file. It looks like PDK is looking for oracle xml parser resulting in the NoClassDefFoundError exception.
    The above exception is thrown if I access the JDPK provider URL after accessing our application.
    However, if I restart the OC4J and ccess the JPDK provider URL without accessing our application, I get the following error

    On further test, If I let the default oracle xml parser be loaded, then I do not get the the exception.
    I have removed the following lines from orion-application.xml
         <imported-shared-libraries>
              <remove-inherited name="oracle.xml"/>
         </imported-shared-libraries>
    Now, If I access the JPDK provider URL
    http://ple-fjunod.peoplesoft.com:9820/pspc/providers/psprovider/ps/EMPLOYEE
    I get the excepted page
    Congratulations! You have successfully reached your Provider's Test Page.

    pdkjava.jar version: 10.1.3.2.0
    Can someone please tell me that if I remove the inherited default oracle XML parser using remove-inherited tag in orion-application.xml, how do I make the JPDK use my own packaged xerces XML parser.
    Thanks

  • XML Parsing in a Schedule Job (OIM 11g R1)

    Hi,
    I am writing a lookup recon - schedule task in OIM 11g R1 to connect to a webservice and get the lookup attribute values. Now, I am able to fetch the values in a xml format. I am facing an issue while trying to parse the xml values (tried both as a string and from a file).
    I have tried using both the SAX and the DOM parser. PFA the snippet for the DOM Parser:
                        DocumentBuilderFactory builderFactory =
                            DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
                        DocumentBuilder builder = null;
                        try {
                            builder = builderFactory.newDocumentBuilder();
                        } catch (ParserConfigurationException e) {
                            e.printStackTrace();
                        org.w3c.dom.Document doc =
                            (org.w3c.dom.Document)builder.parse(file);
                        System.out.println("Parsed the xml");
                        org.w3c.dom.NodeList nodes =
                            doc.getElementsByTagName("entry");
                        System.out.println("Total Profiles fetched:: " +
                                           nodes.getLength());
    This is giving the nodes.getLength() as 0. Though the code runs fine in the Java Client (directly from eclipse)
    The snippet for the SAX method is :
                SAXParserFactory factory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
                SAXParser saxParser = factory.newSAXParser();
                DefaultHandler handler = new DefaultHandler() {
                    boolean bfname = false;
                    boolean blname = false;
                    boolean bnname = false;
                    boolean bsalary = false;
                    public void startElement(String uri, String localName,
                                             String qName,
                                             Attributes attributes) throws SAXException {
                        //   System.out.println("Start Element :" + qName);
                        if (qName.equalsIgnoreCase("d:Name")) {
                            blname = true;
                    public void endElement(String uri, String localName,
                                           String qName) throws SAXException {
                        //     System.out.println("End Element :" + qName);
                    public void characters(char[] ch, int start,
                                           int length) throws SAXException {
                        if (blname) {
                            System.out.println("d:Name : " +
                                               new String(ch, start, length));
                            blname = false;
                           saxParser.parse("home/oracle/UserProfiles.xml", handler);
    This is throwing a java.net.malformedurlexception: no protocol: /home/oracle/userprofiles.xml exception. I tried to pass it as "file://home/oracle/UserProfiles.xml" but then is gives a
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused Even this code is running fine in the Java Client when ran directly. It seems there is some weblogic configurations I am missing for the XML parsing?
    Please do help, if anyone has faced any issues parsing an xml in a Schedule job. Will highly appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks,
    Anuj.

                        //     System.out.println("End Element :" + qName);
                    public void characters(char[] ch, int start,
                                           int length) throws SAXException {
                        if (blname) {
                            System.out.println("d:Name : " +
                                               new String(ch, start, length));
                            blname = false;
                           saxParser.parse("home/oracle/UserProfiles.xml", handler);
    Thanks,
    Anuj.

  • XML Parsing in Weblogic

    Hi all,
    Am releatively new to weblogic and am migrating my web app from the tomcat container to weblogic 9.2
    I use a XerxesImpl jar to parse my XML using a DOMParser and I dont want to use any libraries provided by weblogic atleast now!!
    It always gives the SAXParserException, but the same bit of code works fine with the tomcat container.
    I have also checked for the well-formedness of the xml and the xml and the dtd looks fine.
    Any inputs on this would help!
    Thnx
    Cyrus

    The solution to this being that ---
    1. Whenever using the local jar file for any XML parsing such as XerxesImpl.jar the weblogic provided services may try to override it and hence must be added on to the classpath before the ap[plication is deployed.
    2.Also that somtimes the pageContext.getServletContext() returns a null and hence some other means mustbe found to find the corresponding xml file.(probably loading it as an initparam)
    3. Also make sure that your xml matches the dtd declarations since atomcat container doesnt validate this but the weblogic container.

  • XML parser error in TestStand3.0

    When I call Labview VI's in TestStand I Got the error messange like "Failed create the XML parser, Unable to Parse the VI prototype" error. What can I do to avoid this error?

    Most likely, you do not have the Microsoft XML Parser installed.  You can check which versions you have installed by using the ActiveX Adapter in TestStand and looking for Microsoft XML Parser.  There are several versions, and it may depend on which version of TestStand you have.  TestStand installs the Parser on installation, but if you have removed or unregistered it, this may happen.
    Which versions do you have installed?

  • PL/SQL XML Parser & loadjava

    The instructions I have for the XML Parser utilities say, "...loadjava uploads these classes into a BLOB column in the database table and enables them to be used...by JServer". WHAT column in WHAT table? I have no documentation on loadjava, nor can I find any--even though the instructions say to use the docs in the Java Stored Procedures Developer's Guide, I cannot find that guide after 30 min on the technet.

    http://technet.oracle.com/doc/server.815/a64682/app_tool.htm#624087
    This should provide the details you need.
    You actually shouldn't have to worry about the name of the table. The utility will worry about that as long as your JServer is installed properly.
