Envirnment set up - TEST ,DEVL,PROD

How to set my server environment as Test,Development,Production.
Example:
In IBM websphere we have enviroment variables to set in server configration from admin.
Similiraly this is can be set in weblogic.
This is first time am working with OC4J server,so i need to set the environment some how and make my web application read config.properties file.
Example:
If my server environment is Testing server then test_config.properties file to be read.
I have devl_config.properties,prod_config.properties similiarly.
Experts ,suggest me how this can be done in OC4J ?

in oracle application server, all middle tier processes are managed by OPMN.
When you start middle tier you issue an "opmnctl start" command.
So, inspect the opmn.xml file (this file has the startup configuration for all managed processes - OC4J instances, HTTP server, WebCache ,etc).
you can make 3 opmn.xml files (opmn_test.xml, opmn_devl.xml, opmn_prod.xml), when you want to start with ,say, devl environment, you change opmn_devl.xml to opmn.xml and start middletier ...
Don't know if oracle application server has this implemented by another mechanism :(

  • How to set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment?

We have used BI publisher Enterprise (standalone), Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1. Our admin set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment based on the folder. For example, there is DEV folder, TEST folder and PROD folder. Developer is developing reports under DEV folder. Under TEST and PROD folder, there are many sub-folder based on the login user role. Sometimes a report has to be assigned to a multiple sub-folder under PROD. So our admin create symbolic links in the Linux box which BI server is located. That way, if a report is updated, there is no need to update the report in all sub-folder.
The issue I have is we are not allowed to touch any files under TEST/PROD folder. Only admin will move the report from DEV folder to TEST/PROD folder because those links admin created might be broken. However, as a developer, we still have permission to delete/rename/copy report under those restricted folders. Yesterday one report under PROD has been renamed by a developer. And admin complains because the links he has created not working anymore. Just wonder if admin doesn't allow developers to touch the reports under those folders, is there a way to remove the write permission on those folders? Also do you think this is a good practice to set up DEV, TESDT and PROD environment? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  • Setting up test environment for EBS

    Hi all !
We have r12 setup on RHEL 5.7 servers with SAN storage and 11.1.0.7 database. What are the best practices for setting up test environment for testing patches, fixes, etc. ? Should the test env be an exact replica of the production setup ? What if we can no more get the same hardware as our prod env now (due to technology enhancements from the vendors, etc.) ?
    Thanks in advance !

    Regards,
VinodYour TEST/Patch instance does not necessarily need to match your production in terms of hardware specs. However, you need to make sure you are running on the same OS and updates. UAT instance is the one that needs to be running on a hardware which is identical (or very close) to production.

  • Set Up Test Server

The guy who developed our website recently disappeared
leaving me with the responsibility of making the minor changes we
needt to make. I only think this is relevant because I really have
no business doing this and I'm hoping that you all will help me
through my issue and not tell me to hire a professional.
Anyway I installed Dreamweaver and IIS on my XP Pro machine.
I set up the remote server and downloaded (Get) the entire site
onto a network drive. I set the Local root folder to the location
that I downloaded the site. I set the Testing Server folder to the
same location. Given my experience I thought I would change/test in
the local copy of the site and then Put the changes up for the
    world to see.
The URL Prefix for my Testing Server is:
    http://localhost/.
When I try to preview my changes I get a page can not be
found error. I believe this is because the local copy of my website
is not in the C:\Inetpub folder. Do I have to move it?
Do I have to set up a Virtual Directory in IIS? Is it right
that I can't do this if my website is on a network drive?
My website does not have a wwwroot page, does that matter?
I read IIS and Dreamweaver help files today and still
couldn't figure this out. Thanks for the help.
    Po
Also - I tried to copy the installation of the software on
his computer but it doesn't work. I think he changed stuff and IIS
    isn't even there.

Is the site using ASP? Or ASP.NET?

  • Migrate BQY files from Test to Prod.

I have published some reports in workspace manually earlier. But, now i have so many reports which i need to migrate from Test to Prod.
Please suggest the steps, and how to handle the OCE files and Security.
    Version is 11.1.2.1

  • Migrate OAF MDS customizations from TEST to PROD from UNIX

    1. Copy the the files of JDEV_USER_HOME/jdevbin to TEST or PROD UNIX mid-tier
    jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/oamdsdt.jar
    jdevbin/jdev/lib/mdsdt.jar
    jdevbin/mds/lib/mdsrt.jar
    jdevbin/BC4J/lib/collections.jar
    jdevbin/lib/xmlparserv2.jar
    jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/share.jar
    jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/uix2.jar
    jdevbin/jdbc/lib/classes12dms.jar
    jdevbin/lib/dms.jar
    jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/oamdsdt.jar
    2. environment variable for XMLExporter/XMLImporter:
($PRO_LIB is the path pointing to the jar files)
    CLASSPATH=\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/oamdsdt.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdev/lib/mdsdt.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/mds/lib/mdsrt.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/BC4J/lib/collections.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/lib/xmlparserv2.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/share.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/uix2.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdbc/lib/classes12dms.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/lib/dms.jar:\
    $PRO_LIB/jdevbin/jdev/appslibrt/oamdsdt.jar
    3. for -mmddir needed in XMLExporter/XMLImporter:
copy the following files of JDEV_USER_HOME\myhtml\OA_HTML\jrad to TEST or PROD UNIX mid-tier
    JRADElementList.xml
    OAElementList.xml
    UIXElementList.xml
    4. Write a Unix shell script to export from TEST and import to PROD. (You may register it in Oracle apps to let the developers to promote it themselves using the assigned responsibility)
    Notice:
    1. Oracle puts OAF customization together with Oracle seeded customizations. It's impossible to tell them apart just from the OAF MDS document names.
    2. Using responsibility_id in the document name to get the application_id from the apps table, you'll get an different application_id than the application_id in the document name.
    3. The function_id in the document name is not consistent with the function_id in the apps table. The function_id in apps table has null value.

You may also use a PC to migrate OAF MDS from TEST to PROD. Instead of running an Unix script on the TEST or PROD mid-tier, you may write a batch file and run it on your PC.

  • [4712] WARNING!!! 'Huh, you set a test object to itself... whats up with dat?' Line 601 in function in file .\tstobj2\ObjArray.cpp

I'm using TestStand 4.0 and anytime I try to intialize my chasis this message shows up in my debugg viewer. I would appriciate any feedback. I have no idea what could be triggering this message or why it's worded the way it is.
[4712] WARNING!!! 'Huh, you set a test object to itself... whats up with dat?' Line 601 in function  in file .\tstobj2\ObjArray.cpp

You've hit what was intended to be an internal development warning, but apparently the warning macro used is not compiled out in the release.
This has likely been there since TestStand 1.0 and is nothing to worry about. In most cases it indicates you've called SetPropertyObject or SetPropertyObjectByOffset to set an object that was already set in the specified location. This is a harmless NOP and the warning only appears in attached debuggers, but it "might" be an indication that you have made a programming error.
I launched and exited the 4.0 sequence editor without seeing this warning, so I don't know if it is being triggered by your code module (or sequence, or custom step type, or custom UI, or custom process  model, ...) or another part of TestStand that you are using.  Chances are good that this warning does not indicate a functional problem. However, if you can reproduce it with a clean uncustomized TestStand install, I'd like to know how you did it.
I've entered a corrective action request to remove this warning.

  • ODI Objects Migration from Dev to Test and Prod Enviornments

    Hi ,
Can someone please advise the order of the steps that have to be followed for ODI code migration form Development to Test and Prod Environments ?
    Below are the Details ,
    ODI Version : 11.1.1.6.0
Development Environment : 1 Master Repository (M1) and 1 Work Repository
Test Environment : 1 Master Repository (M2) and 1 Execution Repository
    Prod Environment : 1 Master Repository ( M2) and 1 Execution Repository
Test and Prod environments are on the same master Repository.
    Thank you.

Thanks for your prompt response !!!
"If they are not in sync, import models, datastores, topology first & then import interfaces/projects"
Do we import Models, data stores ? Since they are execution repositories we can only import scenarios right.

  • Planning 9.3 Applciation migration from test to prod

    Hi Guys,
I wnated to migrate my planning applciation from Test to Production instance,
In both the instances I have Oracle 10g as a repository for my applications.
Please send me the steps to Migrate the same.
My Test instance has one Planning applciation "PlanApp"
In Production I just installed the Planning, I ahve not created any applicaion yet, but wanted to copy from my test instance.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This topic has been covered quite a few times now on this forum, a bit of searching will give you all the answers you need but in summary :-
Create a new planning app on production
    Register with shared services.
Make it is the same admin name account betwen test and prod.
Go into the oracle schema on prod for your app, extract the SID value from the HSP_USERS table where the user_id = 50001
    Stop Planning on prod
Take an export of the planning app schema on Test
Import the schema over the top of the schema on Prod
Update the HSP_USERS table with the stored SID value on prod.
    Restart Planning.
    Cheers

  • Data mismatch in Test and Prod environments

    Hi,
we have a query in Test and Prod environments.this query is not giving same result both for Test and production. Please have a look and share your thoughts.
    Select D1.C3,D1.C21,D2.C3,D2.C21
    from
    (select

    where
    O.ROW_WID = F.CUSTOMER_WID
    and D.ROW_WID = F.INVOICED_ON_DT_WID
    and D.PER_NAME_FSCL_MNTH = '2012 / 12'
    group by O.Customer_num)D1,
    (select

    and D.PER_NAME_FSCL_MNTH = '2012 / 12'
    group by O.Customer_num)D2
    where
    D1.C21=D2.C21
and D1.C3<>D2.C3;I have done the following steps:
    1. created one temporary table and searched for duplicate records because if any duplicates found am planning to delete those records. but didn't find any duplicates. searched for common column values using equi join condition. are there any possibilities in data mismatch apart from this?
    2. this query is taking around 45 minutes to retrieve the output. I want to increase the performance of the query. so created Unique on 5 columns. but still taking the same time.
so uing ALL_ROW HINT and ran the query but still it's taking the same time.
so suggest me any thing needs to add to increase the performance?
    appreciate your support.
    Thanks.

If you can create a temporary database link between the two environments use DBMS_RECTIFIER_DIFF or DBMS_COMPARISON to compare the two tables' contents.

  • Error while generating export datasource in Test and Prod system

    Hi experts,
I tried to generate export datasorce on a cube in teh testing system so that i can use this as a datasource for another cube. I did this so that i can transport all teh relevnt objects from D to T. But Iam gettin teh following erro msg
<b>System setting does not allow changes to be made to object ISTD 80CRM_PRI.</b>
while Prod system produces teh follwoing error msg
<b>Changes to Repository or cross-client Customizing are not permitted</b>
    <b>Choose 'Display object' or 'Cancel'.</b>
After i have done this and when i go to the context menu of teh infocube i can see maintain export datasource option.
Also I couldn't see the infosource generated in Infosources ( FYI I have already done display generated objects under settings)
Can anyone tell me how to proceed further.
    Thanks,
    DV

    Hi DV,
Generally export datasource are not included in the request from the test server. It gets generated automatically when (ODS,Cube) based on which the datasource s transported to production / quality .
I think solution should be try not to include export datasource, infosource ,transfer rules to request from dev server.
    Hope that helps.

  • Copy Member Access Profiles from the Test to Prod region

Is there a way to copy the Member Access Profiles from the Test region to the Prod region?  We have updated all the profiles in the Test region for user testing and would like to copy them to Prod to avoid having to update all the member access profiles.

There is no "out-of the box" method for such a need.  But if you study the tables in SQL, assuming you are using the BPC for Microsoft version, you may be able to copy the table contents from one application to another.  Keeping in mind that Member Task profiles are at the application set level, and Member access to data is at the Application level.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems setting up testing server CS5 with existing PhP site copied to hard drive

A couple of years ago I dabbled in CS3 & PhP, but haven't touched it since 2009.  I still have WAMP loaded on my machines.  I'm now in a work situation where I was asked to see if I could make some simple copy updates to sites written in PhP.  I copied the entire sites over to my hard drive, and placed them in the WAMP www root folder, and followed instructions to setting up the site in CS5 (which is pretty close to the CS3 setup).  I made sure WAMP was running, and I'm still unable to connect. I am using "localhost" as part of the URL for the web server designation. I continue to get an "internal server error" message on these pages.  I am able to, from my browser, type in "http:localhost" and it appears that WAMP is running properly. And I do remember to start WAMP before I start a DW session.
So, I kept experimenting.  If I define a new PhP site and create a test document with simple PhP code, the connection to the testing server works and renders the code.  It's just the existing PhP site I've copied over generates the Internal server message.
Is there something basic I'm not understanding about viewing and manipulating a PhP site created by someone else using DW CS5?

The first question: on what platform? Windows - Mac?
I only succeeded in setting up a testing server on my Mac
with PHP and MySQL after reading a book of David Powers. On Leopard
I belief there still are problems connecting PHP to MySQL.
