Environment (?) problem while installing 9i (9.2.0.1.0)

I'm trying to get 9i running on my sun server E450 running Solaris 2.8. The installation seems to go o.k. and Oracle seems to be running. When I run sqlplus I get this message:
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory
In the /etc/system I've got this:
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=4294967295
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=10
set semsys:seminfo_semmap=100
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=100

If you're sure Oracle is running, it is an environment variable issue. Do you have multiple ORACLE_HOMEs on this server? I have seen this error when ORACLE_HOME is set correctly. Oracle thinks you are trying to connect to an instance running against a particular ORACLE_HOME when you are trying to connect to another. Hence the error.
So at a minimum verify you have ORACLE_HOME set correctly.

Problem while installing solaris 10 on HP proliant DL 380 G5.

facing problem while installing solaris 10 05/09 on HP proliant DL 380G5. The array controller is E200.
i have installed the raid controller driver CPQary3-2.1.0-solaris10-i386, it is going ahead but not detecting the whole hard disk space. My hard disk space is SAS 146GB. There are two 146GB hard disk present. It is showing only 978 MB & only one hard disk. So please help me out. my mail ID is [email protected]

I have a similar issue trying to load Solaris 10u4 on an IBM x236.
I had to put in a recognized SCSI card, attach an external array to the card, and install Solaris 10u4 on the array. Then I had to install the correct driver from OpenSolaris (an Adaptec one for IBM ServeRAID), and do a live upgrade onto the now-visible internal disks. Then I removed the array and cleaned up the traces from the live upgrade.
You may have to do something similar.
And last month the boot drive got corrupted when power was interrupted. "Oops. Wrong plugs..." This time the external array will stay connected.

I am facing a problem while installing NWSneakPreviewSP11.In installation 29 phases available.
It complete 17 phases successfully but get stuck at 18 phase.
The 18 phase is "Load java DataBase Content" and At status bar it's showing Info:"EP_LOCK_APPLS loaded" message.I have seen view Log also this is not showing any error Message.
What could be the possible reason to get stuck installation ....?

Some of the reasons could be:
1. You do not have sufficient DB Space
2. If it is SP11, you did not set your system Timezone to "Amsterdam, Berlin..." which is +1 GMT
3. You might be using JDK other than 1.4.2_08 (this problem was reported when 1.4.2_10 was used)

Problem while installing discoverer desktop edition

I find few error messages while installing discoverer desktop edition..
When i give oracle home as
name:OracleHome92
Location: DiscovererDesk
it gives me a error
" oracle discoverer doesnot support multiple installations thus it cannot be installed on oracleHome92.It can only be installed on 'OraHome92'"
When i give oracle home as
name:OraHome92
It automatically takes my 9i oracle home path i.e E:\oracle\ora92 and gives me a error like
"The location specified 'E:\Oracle\ora92', is already used an oracle home for an
'Oracle 82 beta'.It cann't be used as an oracle home for nt."
I have oracle 9i and form6i,report 6i installed in my system.

The easiest way to get a fully working TNSNAMES in a version 4 environment is to use the Net 8 Configuration utility.
Here's a workflow:
1. From the Start button, select Start | Oracle for Windows NT | Oracle Net8 Easy Config
2. When it starts, check Add New Service and in the little box to the right type the name by which you want this connection to be known
3. Click the Next button
4. Select TCP/IP (Internet Protocol) and click the Next button
5. Enter the fully qualified domain name or IP address of the server that contains the database
6. In Port, enter the port number - it defaults to 1521
7. Click the Next button
8.In Database SID enter the name of the database, then click the Next button
9.Click the Test Service button
10. Provide a username and password for an account on the database, then click the Test button
11. If you see: Connecting.... The test did not succeed you got the username/password combination wrong or some other part of the setup
12. When you see: Connecting.... The connection test was successful click the Done button
13. Click the Next button
14. Click the Finish button
You should now have a valid TNSNAMES connection for use by Discoverer 4

The problem what we figured out is ORADIM which should be under ORACLE_HOME\bin is not yet installed also some files are also missing under bin directory. Is there any one who can solve my problem
