Erron on Condition Split

Hi guys, I'm using this expression as condition in a condition split
Charindex(@[User::CurrentF],[Element Code]+'_'+ [Month] ) > 0
but it returns an error 'Parsing the expression ........ failed. The single quotation mark at line number 1, character 44, was not expected.
What's wrong?

Arthur, I can set up this code:
FINDSTRING([Element Code] + "_" + Month,@[User::CurrentF],1) > 0
FINDSTRING([Element Code] + "_" + Month,@[User::CurrentF],1) == 0
even if I set [Month], it returns always month. So I'm
assuming the split doesn't work
for this reason. I need to use another type of brackets in order to set the column month?
Sorry didnt understand that.
What is it that you're trying to implement? What does variable CurrentF contain?

  • Conditional Split - Expression Evaluates to Null

    Hi everyone!
    I'm using a conditional split to discriminate modified records. My expression looks like this:
    col1_source != col1_dest || col2_source != col2_des.....and so on. I use OLE DB Command afterward to update modified records.
    It all works fine if no columns evaluate to null. If any (source or dest.) evaluates to null, component fails.
    Any tips how to solve a problem?
    It has to work like this:
    If colX_source is null and colX_dest is not null --> Update
    If colX_source is not null and colX_dest is null --> Update
    If both colX_source and colX_dest are null --> No update
    p.s. i apologize if a similar thread exists, I haven't found something of use to me.

    Thank you both for a quick response.
    I understood the derived column idea but not the isnull idea.
    If I want to cover all the cases in which I want the update to execute, my expression (if I haven’t missunderstood sth) should look like this:
    isNull(col1_source) && !IsNull(col1_dest) || !isNull(col1_source) && IsNull(col1_dest) || col1_source != col1_dest
    Isn’t it true that again, the last part of the expression col1_source != col1_dest evaluates to null if one of the columns is null? And that the only solution to the problem is a derived column which transforms null values in “”?
    I’m new to SSIS and slowly learning that programming logic is not always the SSIS logic.

  • SSIS Script Component Conditional Split to Flat File Destination

    I have a flat file which needs to be split into multiple flat files based on value in RecordType column.
    For example, if (RecordType == 20), then direct all rows to a new text file,
    I have around 15 different record types. I have managed to write some C# code for Conditional Split, but
    still trying to figure out what is the next step to save these rows to a text file.

  • Creation of change pointer for condition split

    Hi,
    We have  SAP  system which is integrated with PMM(mainly used for pricing).
    Scenario is as explained below.
    There is one condition record whose validity is from 25/12/2011 to End of TIme (EOT) for one price record.
    Assume today (08/02/2012) business created new condition whose validity is 08/02/2012 to EOT for another price.
    Now what happened is in condition table split happened one from 25/12/2011 to 07/02/2012 and one more from 08/02/2012 to EOT.
    But we observed that while sending the information to PMM system through idoc system is not sending the condiion record 25/12/2011 to 07/02/2012.
    *Now question is whether this is SAP standard functionality (not to send Past validity records) or it is custom change specific to company
    .*Assume user creates conditon record whose validity is from tomorrow (09/02/2012) to EOT then split happens like 25/12/2011 to 08/02/2012 (which is today) and 09/02/2012 to EOT.
    In this case idoc sends both the condition record as 08/02/2012 is today and not in the past.
    Thanks and Regards
    Raghavendra Pai

    FYI... While pricing condition determination in sales order will refer the pricing value from condition record (with proper validity) based on pricing date.
    Say, you condition record for base price as PR00.
    Rate
    UoM
    Valid from
    Valid to
    100
    per EA
    01.01.2011
    31.01.2011
    120
    per EA
    01.01.2012
    31.01.2012
    Now you are creating a sales order on 09 Feb 2012. But the pricing date is 21.12.2011.
    Then system will copy pricing as 100 instead of 120.
    This example practical happens when you create sales order with reference to contract or quotation.
    Now, in SAP PMM, I hope you are maintaining condition records through Idoc or may be real sync, then you should have provision for accommodate, these change in pricing and validity.
    Now question is whether this is SAP standard functionality (not to send Past validity records) or it is custom change specific to company
    Now it totally depends on your/client organization/business process requirement.
    I hope this can assist you in understanding. If you have any further concern or doubt, do revert back

  • Source table has an xml column that I need to query before splitting into 2 tables.

    Hi
    I have a source table with an xml column that I need to query on the nodes and then depending on what data is in the node then to split it into 2 different tables. I don't think I can use conditional split so I am looking at just a straight Execute SQL Task.
    Has anyone got any ideas on any other way of doing this?
    Thanks for the help in advance.
    Dave

    Hi TheDish,
    Your goal arguably can me accomplished using pure T-SQL only encompassing XPath or XQuery.
    E.g. the XQuery would retrieve the nodes as explained in http://sqljudo.wordpress.com/2013/12/02/xpath-for-the-sql-server-dba/
    And then you may want to use the WHERE clause to extract - insert the nodes that go to one or another table.
    I don't see why SSIS is necessary, but you can run the same queries in two Data Sources, or Execute SQL Tasks (that capture a resultset).

  • Album splitting

    when converting wma to m4a itunes is splitting some of my albums up. can i manually reconfigure them (before uploading to ipod) or will it redownload the erroneous information and split them up again?
    also, a lot of the album covers are not downloading (even the ones that mediaplayer finds easily), is there anything i can do about this?
    any help on these issues would be appreciated.
    regards,
    daldai

    thanks tt2, seems lots of useful info there, i'll have a good read when i have time.
    on investigation i came to the conclusion that itunes was creating a folder for "contributing artists" then "album title" and putting the tracks in there. i found that by (1) changing the contributing artist field to match the main album artist, (2) playing the track, so the artist field changes and then (3) moving the track to the prefered folder and deleting the old one; seems to be working. Doing (3) without, or before (2) didn't work. i'm a total newb with my first ipod so i'm sure you know this, and probably a more efficient way of doing it.
    regards,

  • Why is the LookUp object in the Flow Task of my SSIS package going red (and not working) ? Sql Server 2008 R2

    I have been working with the Sql Server 2008 R2 SSIS Tutorial at
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms170419(v=sql.105).aspx
    --specifically -- Lesson 1.  I have been having some problems with this lesson where the source data from the samples download doesn’t exactly match the data described in the tutorial, and the tables in the tutorial are different from what
    is contained in AdventureWorksDW (tutorial refers to DimTime – AdventureWorksDW contains DimDate and no DimTime).
    So, after futzing in BI with this tutorial  so that I can at least get it to run in Debug – it errors out on the 2nd LookUp object.
    Rather than looking for a fix to the problem(s) that I am having between the tutorial and the stuff I downloaded in the samples --
     I want “Adapt” the tutorial so I can use the stuff I downloaded and hopefully learn how to use SSIS with the elements (source data and tables) that are present on my workstation.
    Here is a description of what is going on for me – which I really don’t understand what is going on in BI – based on the images below – like what columns (from what tables) are they associating to in the OleDB Destination?
    Note:  the sql in the LookUps here is the sql that I copied from the tutorial.
    I probably need to modify these sql statements – so -- the help I am requesting is to make the required modifications/changes
     so that I can adapt this tutorial with the stuff that’s on my workstation.
    I downloaded the samples and the AdventureWorksDW mdf for Sql Server 2008 R2.
    It turns out that in the tutorial it wants me to select a DimTime table, but the version of the AdventureWorksDW db does not contain a DimTime table.
    Instead, it contains a DimDate table.  So I tried adapting DimDate for the tutorial.
    Additionally, the sample data file -- SampleCurrencyData.txt -- has slightly different data types than the types described in the tutorial, so I selected data types for the columns in the datasource text file that would work in BI would to
    connect column from source data file to the table.
    After finishing all the steps for Lesson 1 -- when I tried debugging the package – and it error'd out on  the 2nd Lookup object whichwent red.
      I edited the lookups and the sample Ole DB Destination to "ignore on fail” and I did all
     green but the FactCurrencyRate table is not being populated -- as described in the tutorial, so I reset the on error back to default (Fail on error option).   And based on this tutorial -- I believe FactCurrencyRate
    table is the table which is supposed to be populated with the data from SampleCurrencyData.txt?
    In the sample data file that downloaded with all the samples  I removed all the data from the text file except for 6 rows, so instead of the original 1100 or so rows, I have only 6 rows of data in the source data file (just to keep things
    simple for debugging for now).  I did not modify the data itself.
    Here is what the (raw) data contained in SampleCurrencyData.txt looks like (from the samples that I downloaded from codeplex) – it’s supposed to be 4 columns of data – float, nvarchar, datetime, float:

    Thank you for your reply.  I changed the error handling as you suggested on the 2nd lookup to redirect to unmatched rows.  Now I get all greet.  I don't have the conditional split as in your diagram.  But also, nothing appears to have
    happened in the DB.  Aren't the rows in my text file supposed to be added to the FactCurrencyRate table?
    How do I get a conditional split?
    Rich P
    OK, sorry I forgot to reply you back.
    Conditional Split was just dummy task. Ignore it.
    Manipulate the data in such way that you get matching records.
    Inside Source, for first 2 rows I put the dates which are available in DimDate.
    1.00010001,ARS,7/1/2005 0:00,0.99960016
    1.00010001,ARS,2/5/2006 0:00,1.001001001
    1.00020004,ARS,9/5/2001 0:00,0.99990001
    1.00020004,ARS,9/6/2001 0:00,1.00040016
    1.00050025,ARS,9/7/2001 0:00,0.99990001
    1.00050025,ARS,9/8/2001 0:00,1.001001001
    Then in OLE DB Destination, I loaded the rows to TestFactTable.
    (Now, you don't even need NO MATCH OUTPUT as there are matching records here)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi DeveloperMax,
    According to your description, the error occurs when you execute the package with Agent job on clustered MSSQL 2012 Enterprise Nodes.
    As per my understanding, I think this issue can be caused by you use SQL Server Agent to schedule a SQL Server Integration Services package in a 64-bit environment. And the SSIS package is referencing some 32-Bit DLL or 32-Bit drivers which are available
    only in 32-bit versions, so the job failed.
    To fix this issue, we should use the 32-bit version of the DTExec.exe utility to schedule the 64-bit SQL Server Agent to run a package. To run a package in 32-bit mode from a 64-bit version of SQL Server Agent, we can go to the Job Step dialog box, then
    select “32 bit runtime” in the Advanced tab.
    Besides, we should make sure that SQL Server Integration Services is installed on the failing environment.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,

  • Simple parameter question ie db_name and usage in an expression

    Hi,
    I just started with SSIS with an example containing a flat xls file with 5 columns and a source table in sql.
    The example works fine no parameters etc.
    What I want to try out is to make an exception that if a certain db_name = X then the flow should be redirected to another table.
    Basicly I need help how to define a parameter to read from the source database like "select db_name as db_name" and use this in the package flow. When db_name=X then flow A ELSE flow B
    Any help is very appreciated.
    -Miracles are easy, the impossible takes a bit longer-

    Hi Paul,
    Create an object variable with name varObj and create a string variable with name as varDBName
    Use this as source query in execute sql tasK: Select <DBNamefield> from Table. In execute sql task do the following:
    On General tab: set Result set as Full Result Set
    On Result Set tab: Click Add and set Result Name as 0 and select varObj as Variable Name. This variable will capture the value returned from the select statement.
    Take a for each loop container and configure it as:
    On Collection tab: Enumerator: for each ado enumerator; ADO Object source variable: varObj; Enumeration Mode: Rows in first table.
    On Variable Mappings tab: Select varDBName as variable and set Index as 0.
    Inside the for each loop put the data flow task. Configure the data flow task and use a conditional split to redirect the rows based on varDBName as : @[User::varDBName]=="x" and so on for different outputs

    You need to split your data and create (at least 5) worksheet targets.
    For example if you have a ROW_NUMBER column you can use for instance a
    Conditional Split for something like:
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 0 for Case 1 (excel 1)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 1 for Case 2 (excel 2)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 2 for Case 3 (excel 3)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 3 for Case 4 (excel 4)
    ROW_NUMBER % 5 == 4 for Case 5 (excel 5)

  • Assigning value to a variable in Script Component.

    I'm pretty new to SSIS development and need to figure out a problem with assigning a value to a user defined variable. I created a pretty simple package. It reads a flat file, extracts date from a header record and subsequently uses derived column component
    to reformat data to the desired output format. One of the columns (FileRunDate,
    string, length 8) in the derived component is defined as a string and in the expression I'm assigning it to a variable I set earlier in the script component -
    @[User::vRunTimeDate]. When the process runs, the output file gets generated, however FileRunDate reflects
    originally set varible's value. It seems that the variable assignment in the script task does not work, even though in the debug mode, I do see how the value is being set. The variable has an attribute of ReadWrite. Is it due to the fact that the value is
    being set in the same workflow?
    Any feedback is greatly appriciated.

    Unfortunately I'm unable to add a screenshot of the process, for some reason I get an error message when I try to do that. In a nutshell the entire workflow consist of flat file source component, following by a script component (this is where I read and
    assign the variable)
        public override void PostExecute()
            IDTSVariables100 vars;
            base.PostExecute();
            // Set run date
            if (strRunDate != null)
                VariableDispenser variableDispenser = (VariableDispenser)this.VariableDispenser;
                variableDispenser.LockForWrite("User::vRunTimeDate");
                variableDispenser.GetVariables(out vars);
                // Set the variable
                vars["User::vRunTimeDate"].Value = strRunDate;
                //Unlock the variable
                vars.Unlock();
                //Variables.vRunTimeDate = strRunDate;
    then goes conditional split ( filtering out unwanted records), which is connected to a derived column component (this is where one of the columns get assigned a variable's value), one more script component (this where I identify
    specific data element and do a replace command) and finally flat file destination.
    BTW, the article in the provided URL clearly states that variable won't reflect assigned value till the entire workflow has finished. If that's the case, then I think I know my
    answer. Is there is such a thing as putting execution of different steps in a different step, so anything executed subsequently will see that value?

    2. And then create an actual invoice (that hits the ledgers) against the same billing due list item.
    KINDLY NOTE THAT THE SCENARIO IS A SERVICE SCENARIO AND NOT A SALES A SCENARIO.
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hello Dhaval,
    maybe a proforma invoice is not the best approach to solve this business requirement.
    How would the prepayments be booked?
    How would you balance the prepayments against the "real" invoice?
    CRM Billing provides the capability to split an invoice based on conditions (See IMG -> CRM -> Condition based Invoice Split). So you might have a specific condition representing the prepayment. The condition split would lead to two billing due list entries for one billing plan item. Each Billing Due List can be processed independently having fully Accounting integration.

  • How can I insert an aggregated column name as a string in the target table?

    I have a large source table, with almost 70 million records.  I need to pull the sum of four of the columns into another target table, but instead of having the same four target columns I just want to have two.
    So, let's take SUM(col1), SUM(col2), SUM(col3), and SUM(col4) from the source DB & insert them into the target like this:
    SOURCE_COLUMN
    | AMOUNT
    1 col1
    | SUM_AMOUNT
    2 col2
    | SUM_AMOUNT
    3 col3
    | SUM_AMOUNT
    4 col4
    | SUM_AMOUNT
    I know how to do this in four separate Data Flows using the source, an Aggregation Transformation, a Derived Column (to hard code the SOURCE_COLUMN label), and destination... but with this many records, it takes over 3 hours to run because it has to loop
    through these records four separate times instead of once.  Isn't there a way to do this with one Data Flow?  I'm thinking maybe Conditional Split?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    Hi ,
      This could be achieved using UNPIVOT transformation. The below sample uses the below source query
    SELECT 1 AS COL1,2 AS COL2,3 AS COL3,4 AS COL4
    setup the UNPIVOT transformation as below
    The output of unpivot transformation will be as below
    Hope this helps.

  • Load Multiple Tables (schemas) from same XML file

    Hi,
    This is first time i am working XML files.
    I have one XML file with two tables (schema). I need to load those two tables into two different Target tables.
    This is the startegy to choose tables.
    <Entry type="full"> --Table 1
    <Entry type="short">--Table 2
    I am try to find the tables like this using condition split (Type == "Full" ) but tables are not splitting as expected, is am i going with wrong approach??
    Can anyone suggest me to process multiples tables from same XML file??

    Hi Naveen,
    After the issue in my environment, the package works well that the data in the XML file load to two destination tables based on one column values. The screenshot is for your reference:
    To troubleshoot this issue, could you please check the values in the type column? Verify the values have exactly the same characters, case sensitivity. It seems that you haven’t write correct values in the Conditional Split Transformation. They should be like

  • How can I create a template of a Data Flow Task in SSDT?

    The majority of the Data Flow Tasks that I build have the same five elements in them (OLE DB Source, Conditional Split, Derived Column, Data Conversion, and OLE DB Destination).  I'd love to have a template of a Data Flow Task which already contains
    these elements.  Is that possible for me to create, and how do I do it?
    I'm currently on SSDT 11.1, with Visual Studio Pro 2012.

    Hi Tim_Dorenkamp,
    If I understand correctly, you want to create a custom task, then add it as template of a Data Flow Task in SSIS Toolbox. So that you can use it in every packages.
    Just as Samir suggested, we can developing a Custom Task that create a class that inherits from the Task base class, apply the DtsTaskAttribute attribute to your new class, and override the important methods and properties of the base class, including the
    Execute method. The sample of create a custom task is for your reference:
    http://microsoft-ssis.blogspot.com/2013/06/create-your-own-custom-task.html
    Besides, as to your requirement, we can simply create a template package that including this Data Flow Task, then use this template to create new packages. If we want to use the Data Flow Task in an existing package, we can add a new package with the template,
    then copy the Data Flow Task from the new package and paste it to the existing package. For more details about create a template package in SSIS, please refer to the following thread:
