  • Msiexec error when installing Premiere Elements

I had a very disappointing time with support and still cannot install my new copy of PS Premiere Elements.
I downloaded the softare. Installed the PS Elements. It was smooth.
I then tried to install Premiere Elements and it does not work.
When I started the .exe it asked for a place to extract files. I did this. Then it tried to install. But after a while I get this box with the msiexec commands listed in it. Eg.
    Windows ® Installer. V 3.01.4001.5512
    msiexec /Option <Required Parameter> [Optional Parameter]
    Install Options
                    </package | /i> <Product.msi>
                                    Installs or configures a product
                    /a <Product.msi>
Administrative install - Installs a product on the network
                    /j<u|m> <Product.msi> [/t <Transform List>] [/g <Language ID>]
Advertises a product - m to all users, u to current user
                    </uninstall | /x> <Product.msi | ProductCode>
                                    Uninstalls the product
    Etc etc etc.
And then finished with an error that it was not installed.
I then manually clicked on setup.exe I then got a screen asking for language, but then I get a windows showing again options for using msiexec command.
When I try using the Adobe Premiere Elements 10.msi then i get an error
Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - Setup
Install Adobe Premiere Elements 10 using the setup.exe in the root folder.
I called support. They had me extract files into a folder off of  eg C:\PS
I did this. Started the setup.exe, Same error as above msiexec.
He then had me install it with the runas administrator. I tried same error.
He then told me to create a new account on the computer with admin privileges. I didn’t really like this, but  I did this . And restarted the setup but still same msexec error.
The support person said it was an admin error. Sadly I think he is wrong, he just read the message and quickly gave the first thing he could think of. I asked him why he felt that, and he said based on the error. However sadly I don’t believe he is understanding the “error” He saw the words  “Administrative install - Installs a product on the network” (see above) and quickly said oh its an admin problem. I didn’t realize at the time that this is not really an error message regarding the administrator, but just the output of a badly formed command, with a default output of a badly formed command.
    Let me explain..
What I believe is that somehow the script that is running the install is trying to run the msexec program and the output is simply the output of the msexec program when the parameters are not right. In fact if you open a dos prompt and type msiexec you get the exact same output. The error is not really an error but just the output like any other of a command with no perimeters. Like if you type defrag or copy from the command prompt with out the right parameters. The command gives a response. For some reason the support person saw the word “administrator” and quickly jumped to the conclusion oh its an administrator issue that was the error. The support person kept asking me if that was all and was definitely trying to get rid of me. It quite frankly was very disappointing that he didn’t know this how to resolve the issue and just wanted me to go away.
Can anyone tell me how to install this program. I am on a domain and have both domain and local passwords. Im using windows XP.
By the way I tried using
ok, i fnally was able to extract the files, enter serial numbers, and run the program, I'm testing the program now
the problem is adobe's fault, a faulty script or something on the dvd.
in my situation, to get this program installed, i decided to do the following:
    1) optional: copy the install dvd to hard drive.
    2) locate the adobe premiere elements 10.msi file.
    3) type in    msiexec /a "adobe premiere elements 10.msi" /qb TARGETDIR="C:\tempfolder"
    to unpacked the msi archive.
    4) go into the c:\tempfolder/programfiles/Adobe
    5) optional: copy or move the Adobe Premiere Elements 10 folder into your c:\Program Files\Adobe  folder so it sits with the rest of your adobe programs
    6) you have to make your own desktop icon
    7) when you go into the premiere elements folder click on Adobe Premiere Elements.exe to start the program
    8) it may tell you to download the Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager
so download it if necessary.  the ApplicationManager2.0_all.exe file will silently install.
this does work HOWEVER, it doesnt really install it with all the registry etc. and doesnt integrate it into the PSE. So I dont think this is really the right option.
Oviously it should install properly. (thanks anyway)

    Thanks Jeff for helping.
The version of the install software is definetely 32 bit. eg its PremiereElements_10_LS15_win32.exe with the corresponding win32 zipped file.
BTW the fact that I can extract the files and then run the program as a stand alone program means I think? that it is the right version and can run on this computer. Its obviously an install issue it seems.
The version of XP i have is XP prof sp3 version 5.1 build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647
Based on your comment regarding the install version, I found and downloaded the 4.5 version of the msiexec software. Tried to install the PE again and got the same error ... EXCEPT that now the output comes from the 4.5 version instead of the previous version. eg.
    Windows ® Installer. V 4.5.6001.22159
    msiexec /Option <Required Parameter> [Optional Parameter]
    Install Options
    </package | /i> <Product.msi>
      Installs or configures a product
    /a <Product.msi>
Administrative install - Installs a product on the network
    /j<u|m> <Product.msi> [/t <Transform List>] [/g <Language ID>]
Advertises a product - m to all users, u to current user
    </uninstall | /x> <Product.msi | ProductCode>
      Uninstalls the product
    etc etc.
So obvously the new installer got installed, but still the install process doenst work.
    Any further ideas.

  • Error when installing Premiere Elements 3 in Vista 32bit

I am trying to install Premiere Elements 3.0 on my Vista Business 32bit computer, but I am getting an error during the installation.
The error states "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed."  I get this no matter what:
    -Normal install
-Right click and Run As Administrator
-Right click and set compatibility as XP
-Running the PRE_302_EFGJ Vista patch yields the same error
I have successfully installed many other pieces of software, only PE3 is giving me issues.
Is this a known issue or could something be up with my system?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ross

Make sure you've got the latest updates to Vista, including the option ones. You'll need to manually go to Windows Update and click the option to install all updates to do this.
Also ensure that you have the latest Quicktime.

  • Error while installing Premiere Elements (trial)

    Dear all,
For my study I need to use Adobe Premiere Elements. A few days ago I decided to download it through the Adobe installer. All worked well, the setup started successful as well. But when it reaches the 'shared technologies' part, it displays an error. The error does not state the shared technologies is the problem, but as I have tried six times by now and it always crashes at that point, I am pretty sure this is the problem.
As I said, I have tried installing it several times by now, turned the computer off and on several times, changed the OOBE folder, tried to install Pr. Ele. on a guest account on my computer.
I have read the forum thoroughly but unfortunately to no use. I really, really hope someone can help because I do need to use this program and I cannot think of something I did wrong with downloading/ installing.
    Some specifications of my pc:
    - Acer Aspire
    - Windows 7
    - own CS6

    AstridE,
Thank you for the follow-up, and sorry that the installation is still causing problems.
Maybe a step back would be worth a look. This article is a general "checklist" for installing most Adobe software. Please take a look at it, to see if you have perhaps missed something along the way: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3419692#3419692
There can be several factors, that can cause an installation to fail, such as having anti-virus, anti-malware, etc., running, during the installation. This is exacerbated with the newer active, real-time-scanning anti-virus/malware programs. They should be turned OFF, for the installation.
Good luck, and please report on your progress.

  • Error while uninstalling Premiere Elements 4, anyone got a manual procedure?

    Hi and thanks for helping!
    I've got a Win-XP/Pro-SP3 system.
I've had the Premiere Elements 4 + Photoshop Elements 6 bundle installed for quite some time and upgraded to the bundle with v7 of both apps last year. Apparently, while installing the 7s, it did not uninstall the prior versions.  To reclaim some disk space, I'm trying to uninstall the older versions.
The uninstaller for Premiere Elements 4, (run from the add/remove programs tool on the control panel or directly from the distribution media), pops an Error 1606: Cannot access network location  :. and quits. I've tried the faith healing steps from both the Adobe Knowledgebase as well as the referenced articles from the Microsoft Knowledgebase (sort of completely uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office since I really don't think that's the issue). No joy.
The uninstaller for Photoshop Elements 6 runs to completion uninstalling that program. The installers for both version 7s of the apps run (although I abort them before they actually start changing files). The Acrobat Standard installer runs fine.  It's just the Premiere Elements 4 installer that is quitting.
I have a suspicion that someplace along the line, a registry scan process removed some key that it thought was safe but is crucial to getting the uninstaller to run.
I can certainly delete the appropriate program files\adobe subfolder, but there are also bits and pieces over in the Common folders plus in the docs&settings appdata folders.  And there are lots of registry keys.
I read the "delete the folder and run a registry cleaner" suggestion which is certainly a move of last resort.  But does anyone have a manual uninstall that identifies all the folders, random files, and keys that should be deleted to remove Premiere Elements 4 without impacting any of the other AdobeApps?
Thanks again for reading and thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi Hunt,
Excellent suggestions regarding going to the backups to find the missing key.  It didn't work, but it was still a great suggestion.  Since I couldn't get the (un)installer to run past the point of checking space requirements before the 1606 error, I couldn't run the repair cycle.  I contemplated the system restore carefully, but the restore point would probably have been well over a year ago. Good thought on the after market uninstallers but I agree that unless they were around to watch the 'goes-in', there's no telling what they'll to on the 'goes-out'.  Given the crap-shoot of trying to pick a reputable after market uninstaller to blindly remove APE4 without hosing anything else, I opted to take fate into my own hands...
So, I spooled a copy of the drive off to the back-up unit, flushed the folders, swept about 700 keys from the registry [700!!], and will keep fingers crossed for a little while.  Cursory checks on the other Adobe apps appear stable but we'll see what happens when I actually try to do a project.
In hindsight, apart from possibly being able to check the registry for each and every file before removal and compiling some list of all the things it was going to do for human review, the basic process a blind uninstaller would do use is pretty much what I did. And since most of those tool are designed for unskilled operators, I probably wouldn't have found one that was quite so dilligent in its reporting and actions anyway.
Thanks for the guidance -- you at least confirmed that the path I was planning through the wilderness was reasonable.  I'd pour you a glass of one of our fine NY State wines right here, but it would just gum up the keyboard.
    Best regards,
    joe

  • [..\..Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283] error when starting Premiere Elements

This error only happens when the laptop is disconnected from our domain. When trying to start Elements I receive error:

Where, and how, is PrE installed? When you launch it, are you running as an Administrator?
First, PrE wants to be installed competely on the C:\ and wants direct access to the My Documents folder. It also wants to be both installed and then launched from an Administrator account.
It is not designed (nor is the big-brother PrPro) to function in a fully networked environment. It will extract media, etc. from an NAS, or from a mapped networked drive, but it does not like to run under most networked environments.
It's my guess that there is something in this installation that it is not comfortable with. More details will likely help.
Good luck, and looking for the answers to the questions above.

  • Error installing Adobe Premiere Elements 9

PS Elements 9 installed fine. Then tried to install Premiere and received this error.

Mac - not PC. Can anyone provide a solution?

I am having the same exact problem on my Mac running OS X 10.5.8   Photoshop Elements 9 from DVD media installs but Premiere Elements 9 will not.  I tried three times.  I even removed Photoshop Elements 9 thinking there might be a conflict.  I give up for now.

  • Error with installation of elements 11

I had the trail version of 10 installed, decided to wait and get 11, and it errors every time I try to install.   Any ideas? 10 installed no problem.

    Hi,
PSE 10 trial should not affect the installation of PSE 11 .
I am assuming you are getting the error related to Shared technology installtion problem .
Please restart your system and then install .
Even it does not solve your problem please try solution under this page.

  • No Disk Error for Adobe Premiere Elements 12

I installed Adobe Premiere Elements 12 to my PC. Everytime I load the software, I get this annoying alert saying that there is no disk located error. I can get it to go away if I click on try again a bunch of times, but I want to get rid of this problem. It should NOT be happening. SOME BODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO PLEEAASE!

Please check out recent thread which sought to solve the disc error message that appears to be similar to what you are reporting
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/6246049#6246049
There was no definitive answer. Still waiting for follow up to the latest line of questions in that thread.
Suggestions about this being a long time issue are a bit misleading. In versions of Premiere Elements earlier than 12, there was a SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5  feature which appeared to be linked to the disc error message. And, updating SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 was claimed to be the cause and remedy for the disc error message.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1300410
However, SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 is no longer a feature in Premiere Elements 12. Premiere Elements 12 does have a Music Score feature, similar in principle to SmartSound soundtracks, but the SmartSound feature is gone in version 12.
Please review that information in the link above and let us know if any of it works for you.
    Thank you.
