Error connecting SQL Azure - Network access for Distributed Transaction Manager (MSDTC) has been disabled

Sometimes I have an error connecting SQL Azure. The error occurs in an asp.net application and in a windows service running on VM in Azure. Error details:

access in the security configuration for MSDTC using the Component Services Administrative tool. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: The transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions. (Exception from HRESULT:

Hello,
I am not an expert in MSDTC but as we know,SQL Azure Database does not support
distributed transactions. This means that SQL Azure doesn’t allow Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) to delegate distributed transaction handling.
One common cause of MSDTC getting involved in Entity Framework applications is the fact that we close and reopen the same connection as needed (i.e. for each query that is executed). To avoid the stack from opening and closing the connection multiple times,
you can simply open the connection explicitly and run the queries in the same connectio.
The following thread is about a similar issue, please refer to:
http://answers.flyppdevportal.com/categories/azure/sqlazure.aspx?ID=d705a8cf-cba4-494c-96f6-96a136bd29e3
What's more, you can also try the workaround that involves setting the Enlist option of the SQL Azure connection to false. For the detail explanation, please refer to:Entity
FrameWork and SQL Azure

Is there a change in the way that Uniform Distributed Destinations are handled in the cluster after weblogic9.2?
I am using oracle weblogic 10.3.0.1 in production mode. I have two managed servers, each managed server has a JMS Server.
I create a Uniform distributed Topic on the System module, and publish a message to it.
I can see the message in the topic on the first JMSServer but the following error happens and the message never makes it to the second JMSServer

The distributed topic forwarders replicate messages to every member of a "replicated distributed topic". They will report errors if intra-cluster communication is interrupted or if servers in the cluster shut down. I recommend checking your server logs to see if other errors/warnings exist, and, if you suspect an intra-cluster communication problem, consulting the cluster troubleshooting guide(s) in the edoc.
Most newer apps (apps hosted on versions 10.3.4 or higher) should consider using the new "partitioned distributed topics" instead of "replicated distributed topics". These don't use forwarders and scale better.

  • Connection Factory class for Distributed Transaction?

Definition of Managed Datasources goes like this at URL: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28958/datasrc.htm#CHDDADCE
Managed data sources are managed by OC4J. This means that OC4J provides critical system infrastructure such as global transaction management, connection pooling, and error handling.
In the same document, I could also see a section for configuring Connection Pool, that uses 'factory-class' as 'oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource' as shown below:
    <connection-pool name="myConnectionPool">
    <connection-factory
    factory-class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    user="scott"
    password="tiger"
This configuration has worked well for my web application where I was using a single instance of Oracle database. In a new application I've to use two separate instance of Oracle databases and there is a need of distributed transaction.
I know, I've to create two separate datasources for the two separate Oracle instances.
My question is: Since now my transaction will be distributed in nature, do I need to use any other factory-class for configuring XA aware Datasources on OC4J? Or whether the same factory-class (oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource) will work even for distributed transactions?

Here is the link for using Oracle RAC with WLS

I cant remember precisely but i think ist got something to do with the firmwareupdate of the AEBS or that i gave up WDS and changed to „extend a wireles network“ , well it only offered „WEP transitory“ which did not work properly for some reason;
So i changed to WPA/WPA2 option and extending my network with the airport express.
This worked fine; two computers with leopard, the new one with Snow leopard and a windows Laptop as well as two Mobilephones could easily join the network.
BUT: My old Imac G4 with Tiger (10.4.11) could not join so easy.. (I changed the settings to WPA of course) The symptom was that on the right upper corner of the screen a message appeared saying: „there was an error connecting to the network, try again!“ and when i hit the „try again“ button up to 20 times then sometimes it suddenly succeeded to join.
I was just about to look after the wirelesscard but tried before one thing: I changed my network channel on the AEBS from „automatic“ to Channel 11.
From this time on i worked like a charm. I dont know why only the Imac G4 needed channel 11, but this solved my problem.

Here is the list of DHCP Clients:
    http://home.earthlink.net/~jeffny0...ExtClients.jpg
    (MAC addresses scambled for security)
I am not sure what 192.168.1.193 is ??? The 16 port Asante switch??
Anyone know if there is a way to (easily) add "Client ID" names in XP? I went though my Macs and added names to help ID them in the router, but can't see where to add names in XP?
    IP Address: 64.110.135.46
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.128
    Router Address: 65.110.135.1
(posting that does not compromise my security??)
I think I need to figure out how to get the HP 4050 to renew its IP address? Then the router should assign an address to it.....I would like it to use the same address it has now so I don't have to recofigure addresses on the computers to print to it......hummm
    DHCP Begining Address: 191.168.1.2
    DHCP Ending Address: 191.168.1.200
    DHCP Lease: 4 (hours)
    COUPLE HOURS LATER......
Just tried turning off the HP 4050 and unplugging it from the wall. Then plugging it (power) back in and turning it on, trying to get it to renew its IP address with the AirPort Extreme router.....nothing. Still does not show up in my list of DHCP Clients.
Tried Restarting the router.....now I see no clients at all in my list of DHCP Client list..... grrrrrr
Can anyone tell me why AirPort Extreme is not seeing the HP 4050 as a DHCP client?

  • What is this error java.sql.SQLException: Bad format for number ?

    Dear All,
I am reading few values from database. Then I get this error "MyError:Error : java.sql.SQLException: Bad format for number 'Sarawak' in column 6. " So what is this error referring to. I have checked the database column and its value fits according the data type. Any hints please?

I have checked the database column and its value fits according the data type.Check again. Then check again. Keep checking until you find your error. You are trying to read a string containing "Sarawak" as a number. You have "getInt(6)" or other numeric type, and the 6th column in the select statement is not numeric.

  • SQL Azure indexer support for Collection(Edm.String)

Is there a plan to support "Collection(Edm.String)
" with a SQL Azure indexer? Maybe via an XML type?
Unless I'm misunderstanding the supported types
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn946880.aspx
It sort of fizzles out after "time, timespan" but I'm assuming it's Not Supported's all the way down

    http://feedback.azure.com/forums/263029-azure-search/suggestions/7189214-sql-azure-indexer-support-for-collection-edm-strin
Was going to start there but just wanted to vet that it indeed wasn't there.... I realize it's a bit awkward and anti - sql storing data like that in a column and will probably annoy DBAs.
Currently the data we'd use this for would be Customer phone numbers, addresses, VIN for vehicles, and some account numbers... So nothing super fancy...   Straight delimiters might get funky with addresses but maybe a standard backspace escape
sequence or letting user use ascii hexcode if the delimiter is in the text..
For now we already have a comma separated SearchText field we've indexed for use with FTS and I just pointed an Edm.string at that column in our DB and it seems to pick up all the comma separated elements... But I'm guessing it's not as efficient as if it
was stored in more specific collections.

  • Can't serialize access for this transaction error.

    Hi,
I am getting a transaction rolled back due to a beforeCompletion exception:
              java.sql.SQLException: ORA-08177: can't serialize access for this
              transaction
              I am using Weblogic 5.10, SP5 & Oracle 8.
              Basically what I have is:
              - A java app that will get an EntityBean, named Schedule.
              - The java app will then create a SessionBean, named Watchdog.
              - The java app will then call a method on the Watchdog, passing in the
              Schedule: watchdog.check(Schedule sched)
              - The watchdog.check() method will do some processing and based on the
outcome may or may not update the Schedule: sched.setLast(<some number>)
              - The check() method is then done & return to the java app.
I see log messages (on the weblogic server) saying the check() method is
done. Then I see messages, presumably from the container for:
              - isModified ------> true
              - ejbStore()
And then I see the exception messages.
The strange thing is that most of the time this processing works just fine.
Only occasionally do these exceptions get thrown.
The schedule EntityBean is set up as <transaction-isolation> for
              TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE.
There is no other bean trying to update the Schedule at the same time.
              Does anybody have any ideas?
              Thanks in advance,
              Beth

  • Connect to a network printer for air print, after disconnect from the wifi iphone keep pop up a message saying the printer is offline. How do I disable this annoying message?

Connect to a network printer for air print, after disconnect from the wifi iphone keep pop up a message saying the printer is offline. How do I disable this annoying message?

    Hey ronniefai,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a prompt that your printer is offline. This may be due to a printing job that is currently in the queue. Are you able to see the print summary when following these steps?:
    Viewing the Print Summary
You can view the Print Summary by double-tapping the Home button and swiping to the right to reveal Printer Center. Then tap Print Center.
Note: Print Center is available only while printing is in progress.
    via AirPrint Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
If so, see if you can cancel the job. If not, what happens when you re-connect to the network that the printer is on?
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • SQLException: ORA-08177: can't serialize access for this transaction

Hiya, If anyone has any suggestions on the following, i would be grateful...
The exception is thrown by the flushing of the OutputStream in the following few lines:
    java.io.OutputStream os = ((weblogic.jdbc20.common.OracleClob) myClob).getAsciiOutputStream(); os.flush();
The exception given is: java.io.IOException: Error while doing writeLobByteValue: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-08177: can't serialize access for this transaction at weblogic.db.oci.OciOutputStream.flush(OciOutputStream.java:152)
... plus a whole pile of internal stuff
This method is called from the ejbStore() method of an EJB, and it only fails the first time that ejbStore() is called, and then after that runs smoothly.
    Any suggestions appreciated, Cheers, Karen.

Thanks, took a look at that previously - still having the problem though temp solution seems to be to delete extra records from the table in question but this isn't the best solution by all means.
    Thanks again

  • I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone my iPhone because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found."

I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone <my iPhone> because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found." lately.
Normally, all I do with photos is move them from my iPhone to my computer's (Windows 7) hard drive. I do this by connecting the iPhone with the cable, a box pops up on the screen asking me what I want to do, and I choose "Import pictures and videos". I've previously selected the "delete photos from the device after move" option (or however it's worded...), simply because I don't want this device to fill up with photos.
Lately, it has been importing the photos fine, but it won't delete them from the iPhone. This used to work just fine, now it doesn't work and I don't know what changed, if anything. In iTunes, I get the error message I list at the beginning of this message.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi there scarbo59,
You mentioned that you are still able to import without issues, but you may still want to run through the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article below.

  • Oracle Link for Distributed Transaction

In my application, I've to integrate two system (or I would say two separate instances of Oracle databases) through a Java Program.
Program will copy some data (approximately 100 records/hour) from one instance of Oracle database and transfer the same to other instance of Oracle and Vice versa. Since this is going to be a stand alone batch application, I thought of using Distributed Transaction Manager like JBOSS TM for controlling distributed transaction.
Is this approach right? Or can you suggest me any other better approach for this job?

I do agree with your Oracle Link explanation, and Yes that would be ideal to have in this case. For some reason, I'm forced to use the Java way.
Why i'm using the distributed transaction because, I'm following certain steps to complete one iteration:
    1) Read the data from Database A,
    2) Move the data to Database B
    3) After successful execution of Step 1 and 2, There is another table in Database A where I need to mark that certain records have been migrated from Database 'A' to 'B'
    4) After that I've to update a summary table with details of the migration like : Number of records read, Time when this routine completed, any validation error in records etc..Distributed transactions require database level support and complications.
But I don't see anything that suggests you need this.
First step is no transaction based.
Only failure point is between 2 and 3/4. And I suspect you could handle that with a tracking table in A.
    1) Start transaction, Read the data from Database A, Update tracking table, end transaction.
    2) Move the data to Database B
    3) Start Transaction
    4) After successful execution of Step 1 and 2, There is another table in Database A where I need to mark that certain records have been migrated from Database 'A' to 'B'
    5) (Presumably A) After that I've to update a summary table with details of the migration like : Number of records read, Time when this routine completed, any validation error in records etc..
    6) Clean tracking table
    7) End transaction.
If there is a failure, then use the tracking table to facilate correction.
