Error creating new cursor

Question

I have a cursor that I created myself - Erase.cur and I am trying to write some code that will change the cursor to this on the click of a button.
I have tried this code:
Cursor eraseCursor = new Cursor("images/Earse.cur") ;
setCursor(eraseCursor) ;
and this:
Image erase = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage("images/Erase.cur") ;
setCursor(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createCustomCursor(erase, new Point(0,0), "Erase_Cursor")) ;
but neither approach appears to work! Can anyone help me?

The image format must be either GIF, JPEG or PNG. From your code it is "cur".
