Error in expression operator

I used an expression operator in a mapping to convert a date into MM/YYYY, I used function to_char(date,'MM/YYYY') but I got an error not a valid month, has any one idea how to resolve this problem?

I tried to execute the generate code in sql plus and it works but when I execute the mapping I got this error and it is stopped at the experssion operator.
Please have you any idea what can be the problem?

Expression Operator - handle datatype conversion errors gracefully

We have a mapping that uses an external table as a source and uses an expression operator to cleanup the data, converting CHAR fields to number and date datatypes. When bad data causes an expression to fail, it seems as if the record is skipped. I don't see any ORA-01722 or ORA-01847 errors. What is the best way to store records that have expression errors in an error table or otherwise identify these records?

Hello User 889486. I came to the same conclusion before I read you reply, but I will give you a Helpful. My original issue as stated was not completely true. The records were not skipped, the format errors excluded them from a join condition, so the expression never got to a fail.

Error when using the expression operator

Hi All
When i'm using the following expression in the expression editor i'm getting an error message "expression is not properly formed, error expression cannot be validated". But when i use the same expression in TOAD i'm getting the result. Can any one please help me where i'm going wrong?

This may be a bug in the expression validation, decode is valid in an expression operator always when Set Based code generation only is used (you may get errors if row based is used), if you configure the mapping to set based only code generation mode and default operating mode then try deploying the mapping you should be OK. Otherwise you build an expression that is valid SQL (set based) and PLSQL (row based), the CASE statement will give you this

Need help in using a case statement in expression operator

I am using OWB version 10.2.0.1.0.
My requirement is to add a new column called call _zone_key in expression operator and map it to the target table. I need to use the below expression for populating call_zone_key values

You can't use the SELECT statement inside the expression, you need to join both tables before the expression. Use a Join operator with this JOIN condition:
CALCULATED_CALL_ZONE_CD = call_zone_reltn.call_zone_cd ( + )
Where Calculated_call_zone_cd proceed from a previous expression:
CALCULATED_CALL_ZONE_CD = substr(case when substr( INGRP1.B_SUBNO,1,2)='00' then substr( INGRP1.B_SUBNO,3) else substr( INGRP1.B_SUBNO,1) end,1,length(call_zone_cd))
And after joining both tables, you can use another expression to get the rownum, then another filter operator to keep only the rownum = 1, and now you can use your expression without the SELECT, using the call_zone_cd column from the outgroup in the joiner operator (you need to include that column in the filter operator to use it).

Im using the Oracle Mediator component to assign an expression to a property. The assign expression uses the dvm:lookupValue() function to assign the outcome of the function to the property. When I invoke a message from e.g. SoapUI or the em testfeature it all works perfect. But when I use a testsuite with an initiate message that is similar to the request from SoapUI, the message fails with the following error:

Step_description unknown variable error in built operator interface

I'm getting the following error when I execute a seq. from a built LabVIEW operator interface:
Error evaluating expression
Unknown variable or property name 'STEP_DESCRIPTION'.
Error accessing item 'STEP_DESCRIPTION'.
Some searching is leading me to an issue with the localization languages files? Not sure what exactly.

Here is a guess: try right clicking on the step list and select a different step list configuration. If the problem goes away, then your current step list configuration has a column specified by expression and there is a problem with the expression.

Can not use get_runtime_audit_id in Expression Operator , Constant Operator

Hi All,
I am using OWB 11.2.
I want to get current id by using get_runtime_audit_id (== RTA_IID), get_audit_id (== RTE_IID) and get_cycle_date (== RTA_DATE) in Expression Operator , but i got the error that get_runtime_audit_id ,get_audit_id , and get_cycle_date must be identified.
I have search some resource not found the same problem, i also tried <mapping name>.get_runtime_audit_id in Expression Operator in my mapping, but it still not work,
can anyone give me any clue.

Where can we find get_runtime_audit_id, get_audit_id and get_cycle_date in OWB 11gR2?
I did not find those under public transformation node within expression.
I did not find reference to those in documentation as well.

Problem with the pivot operator and Expression operator

Hey,
In my design, I have a joiner which joins three different tables. After that I connected a few columns to an expression operator which is used to make some calculations using the three columns. The out put from the joiner is connected to the pivot operator as well as the output of the expression operator is connected to the same.
This is done becuase I wanted to create a few new columns using the existing columns in order to perform some calculations.
But now the mapping is giving an error at time of deployment(Null pointer exception).
I tried to place the expression operator at various points in the mapping, but to no avail.
Can some one please help me out regarding this issue.

Please clarify my following doubt,
We are migrating from BO 6.5 to BO XI 3.1 intergrating with our application.
I want to use the COM XI 3.1 SDK for the Desktop Intelligence. I did some code changes in the previous 6.5 SDK which we already used.
Say, I changed the LoginAs() method to Logon() in the C++ file.When I tried to create the .dll file using Visual Studio 6.0, I got the following error,
'Logon' is not the member of Application class.
From this message, I understood that, still Application class of BO 6.5 was used and not BO xi and some libraries were also missing.
Please correct me, if my understanding is wrong.
Where can I get the BO xi 3.1 com SDK for DESKI? When searched in SAP portal, I get only the API reference and Developer guides.

Cannot backup my files / copy my files and folders due to error message " The operation can't be completed because an item with the name ".DS_Store" already exists. "

Hi Apple community!
I have a [rather worrying] problem.
When I try to copy all my files from my documents on my mac [or the entire documents folder] into an external drive, I get this error message
" The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name “.DS_Store” already exists. "
I am not given an option to skip this file or anything else.
But I simply cannot complete the operation!
I have tried deleting a few of the .ds_store files, [both in the original and in the destinations]
but no success.
The same thing keeps happening.
At first, this was just happening when I was trying to backup to my dropbox folder [the one on my mac's harddrive, which gets synced to the cloud],
but then I tried to back up my documents to my external hard drive, and I realized it is giving me the same error message.
So effectively, it seems I cannot backup my files anywhere!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Error message "The operation can't be completed because an item with the name .DS_Store already exists"

Major headaches with copying files and folders between drives. I constantly (and I mean constantly) have to resort to copying files across in small batches (fewer than 10 works best) because anytime I try to copy lots of files and folders from my mac to an external hard drive (or from one external HD to a second external HD), I ALWAYS get the error message "The operation can't be completed because an item with the name .DS_Store already exists".
The files and folders are all Mac-generated, so hint or trace of foreign OSs in the mix.
All file types are susceptible
the HDs are all Mac OS X formatted, no foreign file formats involved
the HDs are all journal-enabled, OS X extended formats
have looked on here for previous posts, past suggestion was to disable creation of DS_Store files - not really a solution and realistically, defeats the purpose of their creation
any ideas anyone?

the context is that I have a lot of image files that I am copying (trying to...) new external 3TB drives for backup and the job appears endless if I have to do this in batches of 10 or so..!

This is definitively a nuisance. When copying large amounts of files between volumes try opening a terminal window and use use ditto. You need to type the directory paths of the source and the destination volume. When it starts ditto just coupes and optionally overwrites anything on the destination. You can get a verbose mode where it lists all activities.

Send and Recieve Error code " Receiving reported error (0x80004005): The operation failed"

This is what is happening after installing 2010 on to a computer that was running 2007 Outlook. Currently using Office 365 so everything is on the cloud but when the user sends one or two emails the error on the bottom of outlook says send and receive
error. Then a pop up dialog box comes up with the following error

your error seems to indicate that your embeddedLdap isnt in sync with the Database ? Did you either delete files from your file systems or cleanup the portal db or finally used a copy of some existing database for your domain?

IMovie error message "The operation could not be completed"

I am trying to create a new movie and got this error message " The operation could not be completed" after selecting the Themes.
Any suggestions?

My problem was because I had moved my Movies folder from the system drive (which is an SSD) over to another drive with a larger capacity. I then created an Alias in my home folder. Turns out this is what was causing the problem. I shoulda known. Some apps absolutely hate this. iMovie, being the dumbed down garbage that it is, simply MUST have it's library in a certain folder, apparently. Would be nice if we had a choice about it.
I find Premiere Elements is actually the better (and friendlier) program. However in this case, I had to slum it with iMovie due to the Quicktime file I was working with.

Workspace customized dashboards: Error in the operation

Hello
i'm trying to figure out more about what can be done with the workspace dashboards and while i try to configure new graphics, after aplying the changes i sometimes see a popup:
"Error:
Error in the operation"
(or something like that, the software is installed in portuguese). This is all the popup message says.
This mesage also occurs when, from a graphic in one of the pannels, i try to communicate with a process list. I have the communication configured, but when i click in one area of the graphic pie it returns this very same error instead of drilling down the process on the list for me.
Where can i find more detailed information about the real error?
