Error in installing packages during jumpstart
The machine I am installing via jumpstart is on a terminal server and I am connected to ttya. I am seeing these errors in the log:
## Executing postinstall script.
pkgadd: ERROR: freopen(/dev/tty, "a", stdout) failed, errno=6
pkgadd: ERROR: postinstall script did not complete successfully
and I am told the installation failed with an error code of 1 which, according to the pkgadd man page it a fatal error.
When I do a pkginfo -l on the package it appears that the package is there. Is this something to worry about?
If it means anything, this is the java 1.4.2_02 packages.
Kent
You might want to redirect stdout & stderr to /dev/null while installing packages via run-scripts (I'm assuming that 's the case).
So, when you're doing the pkgadd, do it like this:
echo y|pkgadd -a ${MD_PRODUCT}/admin -d `pwd` SUNWmdr > /dev/null 2>&1
Here I'm trying to install a disksuite pkg as a post-install and it givees me the same error messages that you get if I don't redirect 2>&1 to /dev/null

[Solved]Error with installing package: /usr/lib64 exists in filesystem
So i know there are other posts about this and i have read them and I have also read the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … _in_.2Flib and also this forum post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=156942
the error i get when trying to install a package from the AUR
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
hp-health: /usr/lib64 exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I tried to find who owned the files/package in the /lib by the following commands
$ grep '^lib/' /var/lib/pacman/local/*/files
$ find /lib -exec pacman -Qo -- {} +
the output was
/lib is owned by filesystem 2015.02-1
Im confused what to do at this point as the wiki that I linked above says
If any package apart from glibc is listed as owning a file, that package needs to be updated to install its files in /usr/lib
Last edited by PigsInSpace (2015-03-01 02:25:24)You are following directions for a file conflict with /lib for a very specific one-time manual intervention, but you don't have that file conflict according to the error message you posted and it is not for that intervention. See this instead: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … 9.22_error then report the error on the aur page for that package.
This fixes it:
package() {
cd "$srcdir"
+ mv usr/lib64 usr/lib
cp -a opt usr var "$pkgdir" -
Archsetup exitting with error. Install package step
I set the packages I want (I need wireless capabilities) and when I go to the install packages step the installer exits with the errors
cat: /tmp/aif/aif-pacman_installpkg-exit: No such file or directory
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/air/aif-pacman_installpkg-ext': No such file or directory
/usr/lib/aif/core/libs/lib-misc.sh: line 90: kill: Can't: arguments must be process or job IDs
ERROR: Internal AIF error, the following call failed: wait_for pacman_installpkg
Can't open input file in dialog_tailbox().. This should never happen
I then try to rerun arch setup, but the process seems to be still active so when I go to redo my file partioning (which it says I have to redo again). It cant unmount my / partition.
So I checked out fuser, and nothing came up, then I tried killall root. And still nothing. So I rebooted fresh and restarted and got the same situation again.
Any suggestions? google sort of failed me...
extra info:
cdrom, netinstall, Wireless WPA connection
edit2: ill try burning new cd.
edit3: burning new cd with coreinstall failed. I tried it again (downloaded coreinstall instead of netinstall too) and the same thing happened.
Last edited by Enders_Game (2011-09-18 03:25:25)OK so if anyone ever has these sorts of problems (everything breaking at once). Suggest they burn their cd at slower x value .
fixed!

Error while installing OIM, during the OC4J Instance Configuration Assistan
Hi, running RHEL 4 32Bit Linux. There's an installation of the SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 (Release 2) on /u01/app/oracle/OracleAS_1, and I am installing OIM on /u01/app/oracle/OraHome_2
Near the end of the installation, when it's installing the recommended configuration assistants, I get an error while the OC4J Instance Configuration Assistant piece is running.

[SOLVED] Cannot install packages during a fresh installation
Hi all,
I'm pretty sure I'm missing something from the wiki/forums, but I'm at a loss here...
I am going through a fresh installation of Arch. I am using AIF and stopped at step 4 "Prepare hard drive(s)". I intend to install on btrfs, so I went to a different console via ALT-F2, logged in as root and tried installing gptfdisk via "pacman -S gptfdisk". I got a few errors such as:
- error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/sync/core.db: Failed to open '/var lib/pacman/sync/core.db'
(the rest of the errors pertain to the other available repositories)
I made sure to choose core and extras in AIF's step 1: "Select source".
What completely obvious thing am I missing here...?
Thanks.

Hi,

I've only selected the base-packages, mounted from /dev/hdd (a CD-ROM drive). What is the problem? There is two guys troubling with this now (me and this guy) - help us anyone?
(And oh yeah, a little bump here. Sorry.)

Pacman throws "unrecognized archive format" error for .xz packages
Hi,
I am recently getting the following error while installing packages which are in .xz format only.
for e.g.
sudo pacman -S pacman //works fine. as it is packaged in a .gz format
sudo pacman -S xterm // error while reading pakage /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xterm-261-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz -- unrecognized archive format: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character.
I tried using the -U switch to install it -- I got the following little different message:
$ sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xterm-261-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
error: error while reading pakage /var/cache/pacman/pkg/xterm-261-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz: unrecognized archive format: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character.
error: '/var/cache/pacman/pkg/xterm-261-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz': libarchive error
I have libarchive-2.8.4-1 on my system ( I have reinstalled it. )

I used ltrace to see what is happening, here is the trace around the point where I am getting the error:

It was a few selections below kernel.org......

The current iTunes 10.5 upgrade does not install on Windows 7 and indicates a faulty install package (error 2324). Advice or details on the release date for a proper fix? I'm not able to roll back to the prior version, so I'm stuck in limbo.
There have been a number of problems with installing the latest iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit machines during the last couple of weeks. You might want to do a search on that topic and see if anyone has a solution. There have been various versions of the problem but a lot related to errors in the download package or failure to download.

Can't download packages during install
I'm using an Arch 0.7RC disk to install. I'm attempting to install the base packages during install from numerous mirrors and getting an error stating that one or more packages could not be downloaded.
Should I burn a newer 0.7 final ISO? I figureed I could just use this one and download newer packages with pacman.Hi trey.
Is networking set up? You may need to install a NIC driver, configure the network, and then start the network before you can run pacman or download from external sources.
You might find it easier to install the 'base' packages first. Next set up your network connection. And then update/upgrade the packages.
You'll need to include your NIC driver name in the 'MODULES' array in /etc/rc.conf. You'll also need to specify the ethernet interfaces. Then you can run:
/etc/rc.d/network start
and, if this works, you should be able to run pacman.

While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -

The line "skipping bad jar, '/u01/binaries/wls/wls1035_generic.jar'" is the one that's worring me. Can it be corrupt? Or it is something else?
Thanks in advance. Its too early to conclude the issue is a bug with out looking into the logs. For the same reason i requested you to open an SR so that we can have a look at the logs and identify the cause. If you are Oracle employee then you can share the VM details else we need logs to debug this further. If any one from your company can open an sr and share logs then that will be helpful. Can you also check if the shiphome that you downloaded is all correct and checksum/byte matches to what is mentioned on OTN.

Error while installing a packaged application
Hi
I am getting the following error while trying to install the "Sample Master Detail" application in my apex oracle account on the web. All the others install without problem. What could it be ?
Thanks
Juan

Looks like apex.oracle.com has been upgraded to 4.2.1. When did this happen?
I am almost positive that I was able to install packaged apps on apex.oracle.com even when it was on 4.2.0.00.27 (same as the publicly available version) but not on my instance. But now since the versions are different, the support person is pointing to the different versions as a cause! This is what I was afraid of. To be honest, given that I was getting the error on my instance but not on apex.oracle.com, even when both systems (mine and apex.oracle.com) was on the same version of APEX, I am not very hopeful that the 4.2.1 patch will fix my situation since the root cause has not been identified. I just don't want to wait for 4.2.1 to be released, apply it and find out that the issue is still there. Can you share the list of bugs fixed in 4.2.1 to see if any of them may apply to this situation?
Any other ideas? What diagnostics can I provide to help you get to the bottom of this? Frankly, Oracle Support, as I found in the past, is not very well qualified to resolve APEX-related SRs. Can you please assist or direct Support appropriately? Thanks, appreciate your help.
Since I have the Builder app installed in my instance, I inspected the final page of the packaged app install wizard (4000:83) to see what APIs it uses and ran it manually as SYSTEM. This is what I get. Does that help narrow down the issue?

Has red eye reduction improved in iPhoto 8.0
Is red eye reduction any better in iPhoto '08 than it was in previous versions? I'm currently using iPhoto 6, and when I use red eye reduction it often makes a big gray splotch over the whole eye, including the eyelids! It's just very inaccurate and
