Error in PL/SQL Language Reference .... could be that possible ?

I use Oracle 10g ....... but when I used that function in :-
Oracle® Database
PL/SQL Language Reference
11g Release 1 (11.1)
B28370-02
September 2007
page 252
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION compute_bonus (emp_id NUMBER, bonus NUMBER)
RETURN NUMBER
IS
emp_sal NUMBER;
BEGIN
SELECT salary INTO emp_sal
FROM employees
WHERE employee_id = emp_id;
RETURN emp_sal + bonus;
END compute_bonus;
The following equivalent SELECT statements invoke the PL/SQL subprogram in
Example 8–5 using positional, named, and mixed notation:
SELECT compute_bonus(120, 50) FROM DUAL; -- positional
SELECT compute_bonus(bonus => 50, emp_id => 120) FROM DUAL; -- named
SELECT compute_bonus(120, bonus => 50) FROM DUAL; -- mixed
====================================
and than executed first select statement ..... it pass successfully
but in second and third select ...... I found this errors :-
SQL> SELECT compute_bonus(120, 50) FROM DUAL;
COMPUTE_BONUS(120,50)
8050
SQL> SELECT compute_bonus(bonus => 50, emp_id => 120) FROM DUAL;
SELECT compute_bonus(bonus => 50, emp_id => 120) FROM DUAL
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
SQL> SELECT compute_bonus(120, bonus => 50) FROM DUAL;
SELECT compute_bonus(120, bonus => 50) FROM DUAL
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
is there any relation between that I use oracle 10g and those errors ???
or the code wrote wrong in oracle reference 11g ( I hope not ) ???

yes, you are correct. the "what's new" section of the 11g pl/sql manual states
"Before Release 11.1, a SQL statement that invoked a PL/SQL subprogram had to specify the actual parameters in positional notation. As of Release 11.1, named and mixed notation are also allowed. This improves usability when a SQL statement invokes a PL/SQL subprogram that has many defaulted parameters, and few of the actual parameters must differ from their default values."

  • Used "Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto" now my video files in iPhoto have an error message "A necessary data reference could not be resolved."

    As the title states, I used the app "Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto" to get rid of 6 GB of duplicate pictures.  However, now when I go to view a video in iPhoto, I get the error message "A necessary data reference could not be resolved."  I am able to view the video clips (with sound, etc.) in Finder.  However, I want to know if there is a way to restore them in iPhoto?????
    Thanks,
    Leslie
    I see that the suggested solution is to restore from back-up... is there anyway to do that without bringing in ALL of the duplicate photos I just deleted?

    Try going back to QuickTime 7.4, we've seen the same problem occur with the 7.5 update. How did you make the .mov file that plays all of the files? For us, the problem shows up with reference movies (such as that .mov) made on a Mac, but works fine if it is created on Windows.

  • Error -2000 a necessary data reference could not be found

    I'm trying to play a DVD movie in QuickTime. When I drag from the file and drop on top of the QuickTime icon I get this message.
    Error -2000 a necessary data reference could not be found
    I have followed the directions I found on the web site.
    In Windows Explorer, double-click the file or drag it to the QuickTime Player application icon.
    Choose File > Open and select the file.
    What is the problem? Is there no list of QuickTime error messages and what they mean? I've been looking everywhere for something that applies to me.

  • When I want to scroll through My picks why do I get this Error message (A necessary data reference could not be resolved."

    When I want to scroll through My pictures  why do I get this Error message (A necessary data reference could not be resolved)

    Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
    With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
    Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Oracle 11.2 PL-SQL Language Reference - NOCOPY Example 8–17

    Hello,
    The following is from the Oracle PL/SQL reference, page 8-19:
    In Example 8–17, the procedure has an IN OUT NOCOPY formal parameter, to which it assigns the value 'aardvark'.
    The anonymous block assigns the value 'aardwolf' to a global variable and then passes the global variable to the procedure.
    If the compiler obeys the NOCOPY hint, then the final value of the global variable is 'aardvark'.
    If the compiler ignores the NOCOPY hint, then the final value of the global variable is 'aardwolf'.
    DECLARE
        TYPE Definition IS RECORD (word VARCHAR2(20),meaning VARCHAR2(200));
        TYPE Dictionary IS VARRAY(2000) OF Definition;
        lexicon Dictionary := Dictionary(); -- global variable
        PROCEDURE add_entry (word_list IN OUT NOCOPY Dictionary -- formal NOCOPY parameter)
        IS
        BEGIN
            word_list(1).word := 'aardvark';
        END;
    BEGIN
        lexicon.EXTEND;
        lexicon(1).word := 'aardwolf';
        add_entry(lexicon); -- global variable is actual parameter
        DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(lexicon(1).word);
    END;
    Result:
    aardvarkI am confused. I would expect the output to be aardvark regardless of whether NOCOPY was obeyed or not. To test this, I removed the NOCOPY hint and as expected the output was the same. Of course, it should
    be the same, because you're saying: "I'm going to pass you a variable that you can change inside the program, so I expect the actual parameter passed to reflect that change outside of the program".
    NOCOPY doesn't change that, does it?
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    The difference will show up if, rather than returning successfully from your procedure after setting the variable, an exception is raised instead. Without NOCOPY, the assigned value will be "rolled back"; with it, it is not.

    HOWEVER, i noticed during that process above the "Quicktime Player.app" i saw the Plugins" and quicktime plug in was there. i extracted that to the default location and IT DID NOT tell me it was already there. So i installed it.
    also,
    i went to the quicktime 7 app, command i, set to open in 32 bit.

    * also i saw this comment on another forum but no comments after it.
    (I had the same problem and managed to fix it as follows: I found that I had two Library folders, one in Macintosh HD, one in my User folder. Each Library folder contained a folder for Internet Plug-Ins. I moved the files QuickTime Plugin.plugin and QuickTime Plugin.webplugin from the Macointosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins to User folder/Library/Internet Plug-Ins, and that fixed it.
    Not sure why there are two Library folders, but QuickTime installation seems to have put the plug-ins into the wrong one, and that was the problem)
    has anyone else encountered this problem or have any ideas on the cause or the fix?
    i have done all that can with my limited capabilities and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you

    I have the latest version of mysql from the Ubuntu repositories. Do I have to configure that a certain way? It isn't the URL which I supply that it does not like because I've tried multiple URLs and they all give me the same error when I supply the correct information.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.This is.. very odd.
    I have to ask are you really, really sure that your code is just as you posted? Are you sure you aren't running a query of some sort? My guess at this point would be some sort of rather bizarre encoding issue. I'm sorry but I can't reproduce your behaviour, I am connecting to different MySQL instances with no problem from Ubuntu..
    Yes the code is exactly the same as what I posted (except hiding actual usernames and passwords)
    I've even tried to connect to a remote mysql server and get the same behavior (If I type in the wrong database it alerts me there is no db of that name, if I lg in with the wrong password it alerts me cant login ____ @ ______, when I have all the correct information I get that same old error) , I'm somewhat convinced it's my driver now. I thought at first it was the way I had mysql configured but now I think it's my driver or the way I have everything installed. I simply put the driver location in the classpath and do the command:
    export set CLASSPATH=/usr/share/tomcat5.5-webapps/ROOT/lib/mysql-connector-java-5.1.7-bin.jar
    Was this the wrong way to go about doing it? I'm not currently running tomcat I simply put it there because a book said that's where it should go for tomcat, but I wanted to first try this not running tomcat with just a simple normal Java example.

    Try using backticks to escape the column name description.
    Try removing the hash signs around FORM.description.
    Edit: You can probably also omit the maxlength attribute in

    This is a .NET error, a Google search for it turns up a lot of results so I would pursue that as it does not seem to be a B1 specific error. In many cases it seems related to ASP.NET, but not all so I suggest searching for

  • Central Administraion Internal server error 500 | event id 5586 sharepoint foundation unknown sql exception 2812 could not find stored procedure dbo.proc_gettimerlock

    Hi,
    We have two SharePoint 2010 SP2 servers with one SQL 2012 Backend.
    Recently we cannot open the central administration, getting 500 internal server error and multiple SQL errors in event viewer:
    event id 5586 sharepoint foundation unknown sql exception 2812 could not find stored procedure dbo.proc_gettimerlock
    event id 5586 sharepoint foundation unknown sql exception 2812 occured could not find stored procedure 'proc_fetchdocforhttpget'
    Also I cannot run SharePoint configuration wizard, getting this error: sharepoint 2010 failed to resgister sharepoint services
    In the log file, I found this error "an exception of type microsoft.sharepoint.spexception was thrown 0x80131904"
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Shehatovich

    As You can see below stored procedure has its specific Permission's, check user who is performing action as well as CentralAdministation Pool has right permission and their permissions are not modified from SQL Server.
