"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment. You may need to re-install Flash"

Hi,
I get this error starting up Flash Professional CS5. I don't even have to create/open a Flash file. I already re-installed, but to no avail. Any suggestions?
TIA
Steven

Well this is a very old post but this error appear again in CS5.5, then I think is helpful retake this post
In Flash CS5.5 the issue is solved editing the file:
"c:\Users\current user\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash CS5.5\en_US\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\jvm.ini"
and lowering the Xmx128m to 128, some times this must be rised to compile large applications with a huge amount of AS3, or to use some Flex 4.5 libs from Flash Professional
I hope this help to CS5.5 users.

    Finally I got near to roots of that mysterious Error

    So here is what I'm found out + Bugfix
    JavaPatch for Adobe Flash CS5 / CS6...     Ver #1 [ 21.01.2014 ]
    ======================================
    This is the fix the bug in Flash tell you all the time that
    Java could not be loaded. The effect of this error is that
    Actionscript will not work.
    Flash gives a little misleading error messages that tells you that
    "There is no Actionscript in the current Project"
    background information:
    The problem is that the Java Virtual Machine.dll demands on startup
    250MB huge contiguous memory blocks, but the 2GB-Virtual address
    space of the Flash.exe process is already filled with various loaded dll's
    BEFORE you continue ensure that you install/copied JRE 1.8.0 update 31 to
    %ProgramData%\Adobe\CS5\jre\
    For testing check if ...Adobe\CS5\jre\bin\java.exe starts
    (and shows a help about available commands)
    The Patch is for 32-bit version only!
    (however the problem is probably not in the 64-Bit Version - since there a process has a much large more 'space')
    Well SIMPLE FIX / Workaround:
    Use 64-Bit version of Adobe Flash !
    TechDetails:
    Java's JVM.dll loaded in Ollydebug -  The patched / change bytes are red.
    ^-Note that String ASCII "NUMA page alloc..." - will be a great 'link' to easily find that location in other JVM-versions to applied the patch there. Open jvm.dll in Ollydebug open String Ref. Windows and search for the string...
    Download instructions:
    Right click on picture above and download it.
    Drag/open  the *.jpg in / into Winrar / 7-Zip
    OR
    Rename 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z.jpg' -> 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z' so you open it by doubleclick
    -> My creative solution for that A-Dope-board missing 'Attach file feature'
    Tested:
    with Adobe Flash CS5 + JRE 1.8.0 update 31
    More Techstuff:
    Some of my notes that might be useful:
    Note the memory is not real allocated in the way it can be use since to write or read from it is just allocated as
    MEM_RESERVE like you see in the screenshot above. And freed just a little alter.
    It seems that java just checks if it could possible the maximal the JVM is made for.
    Note the problem is not that you have to less physical RAM installed.
    It's more related how memory is organise.
    Well in 32 Bit each process has 4GB (or well practically Windows limits this to 2GB).
    0x00000000 to 0x7FFF0000
    This space is virtual and not actually claimed (else you would very quickly run out of RAM) but it a kind of potential or Adress system. Na sorry that'll be to offtopic to explain all the basic's about memory.
    Adobe Flash CS5 calls
    jvm.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM( OUT **p_vm, OUT **p_env, IN *vm_args);
    The 'vm_args'
    typedef struct JavaVMInitArgs {
        jint version;  00010004
      1. /* user classes */
      -D java.class.path=
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\asc_authoring.jar;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\"...
      2. /* set native library path */
      -D java.library.path=
      C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre\bin
      3.
      -D java.Home=C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre
      4. classpath append
      -X bootclasspath/a:
      C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7\jre\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
      5. Headless mode is a system configuration in which the display device, keyboard, or mouse is lacking. Headless mode support has been available since the J2SE 1.4 platform.
      -D java.awt.headless=true
        jboolean ignoreUnrecognized; 1
    } JavaVMInitArgs;
    So for any further exploration about this Java problem setting a breakpoint to 'JVM.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM' will be a great startpoint

    Has anyone else been getting this error message?
    Re-installing is a problem because I work in a HUGE company
    with LOTS of red tape and I don't have access to the original disks
    to re-install.
    I can't even load my file anymore without getting the error
    and once opened, I can't even do a "check script" without getting
    the error. I've even tried to load earlier versions but I'm still
    getting it!
    Any workaround or am I doomed to wait for an IT guy to show
    up in a day or two?
    "Deadlines? WHAT DEADLINES??!!"

    I have been experiencing this unpleasant phenomenom also, appears that we aren't the only ones.... have you had any success in resolving this issue? I am just starting the process of working through the error message and any information would be appreciated.

  • Error Help: Flash CS5 Error initializing Java Runtime Environment...

    Hi im on a Win 7 64bit system  (Clean install),  I just downloaded the Flash Pro CS5 trial today - however when I start the program I get the following message as soon as the UI pops up and prevents me from running AS3 code when compiling files:
    Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash.
    All I did was run the program. I tired updating it (update worked but still got the message at start up), I tired installing and uninstalling it, I tried uninstalling and installing different versions of Java and various existing solutions.
    Also I used Adobe's clean up Script for CS5.
    Does anyone know the answer to eliminating the error message?

  • HT202912 I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" Do I need two versions as this article suggests?

    I just upgraded to Yosemite on my 2010 MacBook Pro.  When I reboot I get the message "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and I've also seen the same pop-up once while running OpenOffice.  And now while composing this post.
    Yes - I followed the link and installed the Oracle version of Java, version 8, and the test page confirms that I have the current version running.
    I read some threads on discussions.apple.com but didn't like the answers.
    I found this:  http://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/advanced-tips-for-mac-os-x-yosemit e-3582877/
    and tip # 10 seems to answer my question.
    Anyone else have experience on this?

    Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • Error in Java Runtime Environment when running JNI native library

    Hi,
    I am kinda new to JNI but understand it [and done some tutorials]. I am trying to implement JavaStyle [ a Java vst host that uses JNI ] and have reached a point where i successfully build the native code to a dll, and almost manage to load the native dll library. I do not get a Unsatisfied Link Error, but instead have the JVM close due an internal error.
    I am completely lost and dont know what to try now, and I would appreciate any help offered.
    I have debugged and the error arrives at the System.load line of code:
      static {
        System.out.print("Pre loadLibrary...");
        System.loadLibrary("JaVaSTyle");
        System.out.println("JavaStyle dll loaded in JVSTLibrary");
      }Detail: I compiled the native library with MS visual studio .NET 2003 using the project settings supplied from the CVS repository.
    I use Netbeans 6.0 for the java side of things. The console output is:

    Something is wrong with the library.
    Staring at java code will not help you figure that out.
    Maybe it isn't intended to be loaded in java but instead it loads java itself?
    If not then write a C/C++ basic app that links that dll in and see if you can at least get it to start.

    Thanks once again and I hope someone can help me!

    1. Try re installing JRE.
    2. Check in the internet explorer --> Tool-->Options
    there whether the browser is JVm enabled it should be in that list also.
    3. Then in the Registry ie; regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ---- > Software ----> JAVASOFT---> Java Runtime Environment---> Click on it
    then on right hand side you will see Current Version.
    in which the value should be 1.4

  • The Server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to re install the server application

    Hello All, can anybody help?
    The Problem
    We are running SharePoint 2013 and document sets that have an excel file and a PowerPoint presentation both in the document set folder  and we have mapped this to a unc path
    \\SP.companyname.com\@SSL\DavWWWRoot\Documents
    Once a link(graph) is added from excel 2010 (Ctrl C) then go into PowerPoint 2010 Paste > paste special > paste link (As Microsoft Excel Chart Object) click ok the graph goes into the PowerPoint presentation.
    The graph/Table is added but in Power point 2010. Perfect.
    The problem is when we close excel and try and click on the graph(link) we get the following error “The Server application, source file, or item can’t be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server
    application”
    If we right click then we get
    The Linked file was unavailable and can’t be updated
    Has anybody else experienced this issue?
    We are running SharePoint 2013 and document sets that have the excel file and PowerPoint in and we have mapped this to a unc path
    \\SP.companyname.com\@SSL\DavWWWRoot\Documents
    I think that Office 2010 does not link or cannot link to a url which it see the unc path as?? It works in Office 2013 but we have Office 2010 as standard across the firm also I have tried SP1 and SP2 for Office 2010 but still
    no joy
    Is anybody else experiencing this issue? is there at least a work around?
    Many thanks in Advance
    Jake

    Hi,
    Usually this issue is caused by the Protected Mode in Adobe software, since it's not a Microsoft product, the information I can provide is quite limited. I suggest you contact the support of Adobe first, ask if they can provide any suggestion.

    It's recommended to download and install
    Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
    programs.

  • How do you troubleshoot Caching Errors in Java Runtime Environment?

    I have run into Caching Errors while using JRE (versions 1.4.2 and 1.5.0, various updates) using Windows XP and IE6. The error screen has the title Error - Cache and appears when trying to download JAR files through a secure HTTP connection. The error reads: "Caching Error. Unable to store or update files in the cache." In the details box, the first line can differ:
    java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
    java.net.UnknownHostException: [followed by a URL]
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
    I looked in the Java Control Panel to make sure that the "Enable caching" box is checked, and removed the proxy settings in IE. The user has sufficient rights on the computer to download files.
    How does one go about troubleshooting these caching errors? Is there a reference document available? I could not find anything on the Sun site or anywhere else.
    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    I deleted c:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Sun (the same as in Java Control Panel->Temporary Internet Files->Settings, but at higher level). After that and some machine reboots it worked.

  • To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment.

    ..i just migrate to yosemite and everytime i open safari this massage appear .......To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment. do i need to install java .???? please someone help.

    Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

  • Is a Java Virtual Machine different from the Java Runtime Environment?

    Ok I have heard people say they are running a java virtual machine, but how is that different from the Java Runtime Environment you install on any computer to run Java? Also if it is different what is the purpose of it and using commands like this:
    -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC

    I've noticed lately that at certain web pages a window
    titled "Install on Demand" pops up and says that I
    need to download "Java virtual machine." When I press
    on the download button another window pops up that
    says it was unable to download and that I should try
    again or go to Windows Update to install the
    component. When I do the Windows Update, at the
    Windows Update website it states that there are no
    updates available for my computer at this time. What
    should I do?
    Thank you in advance.I am having the same problem. I downloaded the JVM download from the sun homepage... and I still can't use digichat applet.. anyone have a fix?

  • HT4623 website requires java runtime environment plugin how to for iphone

    Thanks in advance.

    No. The iPhone will not support Java applications of any kind.

  • Safari 8 error: "...you need to install the Java Runtime Environment"

    Ever since upgrading to Yosemite and Safari 8, I continually get the error "To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment" and, although I did do so the first time I got the error, and Java tells me I do have the latest version installed and running, I continue to get this error constantly.
    Is there a way to stop this, or at least find out what content is causing it? I can't put my finger on any particular content that causes the error.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It makes no changes to your data.
    Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    java -version
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
    If the Apple Java runtime is installed and up to date, you should get three lines of output below what you entered, the first of which is this:
    java version "1.6.0_65"
    Is that what you get? You can then quit Terminal.
