Error installing APEX on Oracle Database Express 10g

Hi all,
I received the following error report when trying to run the install the first time -
ORA-04063: package body "APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_UTILITIES" has errors
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_UTILITIES"

ORA-06512: at line 3
04063. 00000 - "%s has errors"
*Cause:    Attempt to execute a stored procedure or use a view that has
errors. For stored procedures, the problem could be syntax errors
or references to other, non-existent procedures. For views,
the problem could be a reference in the view's defining query to
a non-existent table.
Can also be a table which has references to non-existent or
inaccessible types.
*Action:   Fix the errors and/or create referenced objects as necessary.
Also, when I tried to run the installation again, it won't run giving me an error that DB is not supported / cannot find the DB table..
Please help. I have NO idea how to proceed from here on..
Best Regards

Here is the error report when I try to run the installer the second time -
alter session set succeeded.

  • Are there any problems running oracle database express 10g and iis together

Are there any problems running oracle database express 10g on an windows 2000 server or advanced server running iis 5?
Does oracle database express cause any conflicts with iis (because of used ports etc)
Could an server have running on it, both an website using iis and an oracle database express website without conflicts?

I would not expect a problem under normal circumstances.
Oracle's listener is set for a default port 1521 for database requests, port 8080 for HTMLDB requests. The database connections generally find an empty port above 1024 when establishing a connection.
So, if IIS does not want to use 1521 or 8080, you will generally see no challenges. Even then it is fairly easy to move ORacle's port requirements elsewhere.
Using port 8080 seems reasonably common, but that is easily changed - search for sethttpport in this forum. IIS tromping on 1521 would be rare as it has been a well known Oracle service port since, roughly, forever.

  • Installing SQLDeveloper with Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2

    Hello,
I have a problem with sqldeveloper in connecting to the database with the following message:
    *"java.lang.unsatisfiedlinkerror oracle.jdbc.driver.t2cconnection.t2csetsessiontimezone"*
I can connect to the database via SQL / SQLPLUS. I cannot select from the dual table.
My machine is windows 7 - 64 -bit. I downloaded SQLDEVELOPER for 32-bit.
    Thanks.
    Jaffee

I downloaded the version without the JDK, because I already had Java on my machine. I will try with the JDK included.
New update: I download the version with the JDK. I recevied the same message. Do I need to delete the first version of Java?
    Thanks.

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 10g Download Issue

Hi everyone. I just downloaded the freeware Oracle Database Express Edition without any apparent problems. However, when I attempt to go to the Express Edition Homepage, which is location http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex,
I get the message that my Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. (It can, however, display other pages.) I cannot understand why this is the case since I successfully added Web site 127.0.0.1 in my Control Panel (as specified in the instructions.) Also, the instructions stated that HTTP port 8080 was the default port, unless my system said that this was not available (which it did not.) I also tried rebooting, which did not make a difference. Help!
    Thanks,
    Jason

Help! There is a forum dedicated to Express Edition, in which we have discussed a lot of the variants in failure that causes this problem. At the top of the page you are reading, there should be links like "Forum Home » Database » Database - General". The middle one will get you to a list of all Oracle forums and after the first 5, the rest are alphabetical - XE is pretty far down that page.
(You might also note that there is an Installation forum next to this one. That might be better suited to the task than the 'catch-all' general forum.)
The most common issues are related to not preparing the operating system properly. For example, if you use a laptop you probably use DHCP to get a different address from the various sites you connect to. However, Oracle works as a server and depends on having a well known address. In fact, it tends to bind the IP address at install into it's configuration files. Therefore it is critical to use the loopback adapter in such situations.
Other issues are dependent on the actual OS into which you install. For example, Ubuntu (Linux) has very differnet install philosophy as Red Hat / Fedora, and requires a different install technique. Then again, on Windows, it is nearly impossible to install anything Oracle on a Windows 'Home' OS, and XE generally has not even been tested against Windows 7.
Other common reasons include anti-virus; firewall; not having appropriate operating system level permissions; in Windows - using a Domain-based userid instead of a local administrator; and just general finger issues.
Express is considerably different in the install behaviour and runtime behaviour. For example. it uses RPM and MSI instead of Oracle Universal Installer. It does not include Java in the database, which limits a lot of functionality. And it uses the built-in PL/SQL Web Gateway instead of any external HTTP server. As a result, it can be quite a shock to mmany of the regular inhabitants in this forum.
I strongly encourage reading the documentation for XE. In particular, reading the install doc. Start at http://tahiti.oracle.com and look for the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition documentation. (Just below the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 documentation.)

  • Installing Oracle Database Express Edition 11g on UBUNTU

    Hello everyone,
I want to install Oracle Database Express Edition 11g on UBUNTU. I followed the steps from this link created by Dude:
    https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2303639?start=0&tstart=0
My problem becomes when I type in from the terminal:
    sudo /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
I followed the instructions there, agreeing t HTTP port 8080, port database listener 1521,  specifying a password for my database account, and wanting Oracle Express to be started on boot. This is what I'm getting:
Starting Oracle Net Listener...touch: cannot touch `/var/lock/subsys/listener': No such file or directory
    Done
    Configuring database...
Database Configuration failed.  Look into /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/config/log for details
I have no idea what this means, so I went into the log's location and I found 4 of them, so I clicked on each of them, and this is what I'm getting:

Can somebody that knows this, or has installed Oracle Express on Ubuntu, to please explain it to me what does it mean and why am I getting those errors. Please explain thoroughly as if I am an amateur person, IN DETAIL, STEP-BY-STEP. I want to run it and make it work! I heard that it encourages people to answer for points. I am open for your suggestions and experiences, as long as it's not 'use common sense', 'you're dumb', or an answer that is vaguely explained.  Thank you for those that take the time to read it.

    Hi Pradeepcmst,
Thanks for your suggestion, but I found it sometimes misunderstanding on what he's trying to say - his instructions are not step-by-step and precise. Instead, I found this link that helped me a lot:

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 10g; Designer, PL/SQL; Download

    Hi,
I am new to this forum, I hope that I am posting in the right one :)
I am refreshing my SQL knowledge an installed the "Oracle Database Express Edition 10g Release 2 (10.2)" which works fine. I now would like to learn PL/SQL and Oracle Designer.
Are these 2 also offered as a free download for personal use? Since the Oracle website is pretty complex I am not sure what I should download.
Can I run these programs on one WinXP Home machine?
    Thanks for your help!

Designer is not free like Express Edition. You cannot use it for any commericial purpose without a licence.
Designer is a big tool. I don't know why it shouldn't run against XE but it is a tough blighter to configure and install. It is also a moribund product, so the answer to this question:
Is there a newer Designer version available?is likely to be "No" whenever you ask it.
    Cheers, APC

  • Oracle Database Express Edition - install on WIndows XP laptop

I downloaded the Oracle Database Express Edition to my Lenovo T61 laptop - Windows XP professional, execute the setup.exe and load the software fine. When I press the Finish button on the final dialog, the Oracle Database 11G Express Edition Install Wizard is highlighted in the task bar, as if it is awaiting a response from a prompt. The Oracle Database 11G Express Edition option appears in the Start|Programs with the following sub-options: Backup Database, Restore Database, Start Database, Stop Database, Get Help, Get Started, and Run SQL Command Line.
The Get Started option doesn't seen to do anything. This is the third time I've re-run the setup program, as i thought perhaps the Ad-Aware spyware program was blocking the Finish process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, in advance, for your help.
    James

    Hello James,
Windows XP professionalI assume you use the 32bit version?
Are you logged in with administrative privileges?
When I press the Finish button on the final dialog, the Oracle Database 11G Express Edition Install Wizard is highlighted in the task bar, as if it is awaiting a response from a prompt.Seems as if it's hanging at that point. Could you check whether the Oracle Services the installer created are up and running? Taking you other comments on "Get Started" into account, I wouldn't think so.
In that case, you should start digging for errors in the log files created during your installation.

  • Connect Problems with Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2

    Hello,
I am a student trying to install Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 and SQL Developer on my home system, Win7 64Bit, in order to practice some things I've learned from me DBA class and Developer classes.
Anyway, I have everything installed, but I am having difficulty connecting as SYS or SYSDBA in the 'Run SQL Command Line', I keep getting the ORA-01017: invalid username/password: logon denied.
However, If i select the 'Start Database' I get this:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin>
and I can type sqlplus / as sysdba and it starts up just fine and show user lists me as "SYS".
but if I go back to 'Run SQL Command Line' I still cannot connect as SYS or SYSDBA...I find this both confusing and frustrating. I don't know if I am in different instances or something like that, but I seem to be limited to connecting only as "SYSTEM". I need SYS because I want to practice creating datafiles, instances and things like that, but I seem to be lost.
Also, I am trying to create a new DB connection with SQL Developer and I can only us SYSTEM for my login which, if I understand correctly, will limit my privileges. Again When I try to sign in with SYS or SYSDBA I get error'd out. When I installed Ora11gDBExpress I was prompted in input a single password that was supposed to grant me access as SYS or SYSTEM, but I am limited to only SYSTEM for some reason.
So, I am looking for help/guidance as to what to do.
Thanks in advance for any and all help,
    Warren

General rule of thumb, don't use sysdba unless you want to shut down the database, or grant a database user privileges on a sys object.
A SYSTEM connection is not "limiting", it has the DBA role which means a user with a system connection can do most anything needed, including select/update/delete/drop any user's objects as well as change parameters in the instance.
The system user can indeed add datafiles, tablespaces, etc. The instance and database should already be created as long as the installer completed all its chores correctly. For XE, per the license agreement only one instance can run on one host. If you want to try creating a database, it will require shutting down the XE instance and creating a new database service, creating the database, and installing the system catalog and any other optional components desired. Good practice indeed, but a bit advanced for the new user.
Do create users for schemas ... connect system; create user <username> identified by <password> and connect <username> for the schemas (a collection of objects) within the database. Grant the resource and create session privilege to <username> to allow the database user the ability to create tables, indexes, stored procedures, etc.
There is no "or" in a sys as sysdba connection, from 10g onwards a sys connection requires using the sysdba privilege. To enable a sysdba connection, add your host user to the ORA_DBA group on the host. To verify the OS users in the ORA_DBA group, this might work for win7, in a cmd box ...
    $ net localgroup ora_dba
...If your OS user is in the ora_dba group the sys as sysdba password is not relevant, you can in fact type anything for a password. If you wish to connect with the sysdba privilege from a remote client, that is a bit different and requires knowing the password set in the instance password file. Which should be set the same as the system password defined in the installer, but you can change that by creating a new password file. Another slightly advanced topic.
In Windows IMHO its better to leave the listener and database set to Manual start (in the services applet, Start/Run/services.msc) and start the listener, then the database, when its needed. At least for an XE instance, as its intended for practice and learning RDBMS management.

  • Is Oracle Application Express the same of Oracle Database Express Edition (

    Hi,
    perhaps a silly question.
I've tried to download Oracle Application Express. Before of installing it, I've noticed that looking at the About the Create Application Manual it looks like the Application Builder that I already use with the web-based page for Oracle Database 10g XE (Express Edition). But thus is Oracle Application Express the same of using Application Builder of Oracle Database 10g XE? To me it seems so, but I'd like to be sure of that
    Thanks!

oracle database XE 10g include APEX installed, version 2.... i don't remember exactly
Oracle database sinde 11g includes APEX installed too
Yes, APEX have a tab with application builder, there you create applications, but the version is very old, install Oracle DB XE 11g or upgrade APEX

    Thanks & Regards,
    Shan

btw the latest patch (generic) is 12812978 actually this morning i installed it in 3 develop servers and 2 customers' without any issue (win 2003 server pcs)
anw in your case it seems that something possibly was not installed successfully.
1)press the close(x) button once on the mobileserver , wait some seconds it will say press any key to continue. press it and it will close
    2) restart it. if the same warning comes out then try loggin in the http://localhost/webtogo page, is it working?does the server and mgp appear on?(green tick?)
    3) if it is, try syncing a device, does it sync ok?
if all is yes then the warning is not important but you should have a look at it. some solutions
    1)reinstalling the patch
    2)or installing a newer patch,
3)or (i think) you can roll back the patch,
4)or if we are talking for a release server(customer) raise a service request.
5)or wait a little for some other forum users to check this thread and perhaps they have runned into such cases
i would go for number 2

  • Does Oracle Database Express Edition 11g support CLOB datatype?

I am having problems in displaying CLOB data type columns when I query my tables in Oracle Database Express Edition 11g. I am getting garbage values. However when I do the exact same thing in the Enterprise Edition I do not have any problems. So I am thinking that the Express Edition does not support CLOB data types due to its size limitations. Am I missing something here?

Hi, and welcome to the OTN forums!
I download a year ago oracle 10g and installed in windows7/64bit.
Now 11g is available. But it says does not work in x64.Well, in fact, 10.2 XE wasn't certified for x64 either, not even for Linux x64...
11.2 XE has a Linux x86_64 release, and there has been an announcement that there'll be a x64 release for Windows as well, but it's not available (yet).
There have been a lot of reports that people got 11.2 XE work on x64 Windows machines as well, with a few tweaks at installation time and/or afterwards...
You'll find tons of posts on that topic when using forum search...
oracle 10g seems to be not available anymore.Right, the official downloads have been removed after all database 10.2 releases fell out of (regular) support.
