Error  java.sql.SQLException: Bigger type length than Maximum

My version of oracle is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0
When i perform stored function call using xml table i get that error above.
I am calling the function in my java application, jdk 1.5 >> oracle driver class is in the jar ojdbc14, this jar file i downloaded from the oracle website.
i ran the select statement select * from all_registry_banners; and it looks like there is a JVM and xml database version. Is it a problem due to the fact i am using a CLOB as a parameter?
The funny thing is that if i use a later version for oracle class driver ojdbc14-10.2.0.2 downloaded from findjar.com i get a different error:
PLS-00201: identifier 'SYS.DBMS_XQUERYINT' must be declared
I am really lost, please help!
Regards,
Shane.
my java code is:
String query = oracleQuery;
CallableStatement stmt = conn.prepareCall(query);
// register the type of the out param - an Oracle specific type
stmt.registerOutParameter(1, OracleTypes.CURSOR);
// set the in param
String xml = readInAsFile();
stmt.setString(2, xml );
// execute and retrieve the result set
stmt.execute();
ResultSet rs = (ResultSet)stmt.getObject(1);
stored function is:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION JL_INTERFACE.MAPPING_ITEMS_FUNC (xmlInput IN CLOB)

  • Error ocurred during capture: Bigger type length than Maximum

    Hi,
    I am working on a migration project from mysql 5.1 to oracle 9i. I have got everything setup as mentioned in the installation file (jdk1.5.0_22, mysql-connector-java-5.0.4, sql developer 1.5.3). I have tried the latest version 1.5.5 and 2.1 as well which doesn't seem to work either.
    I have done the suggested changes in the forum specifically talking about this issue. They relate it to the jdbc.library not pointing to the current directory where sqldeveloper is installed but this is without the jdk so I guess that should not be case for this error. I have tested with all possible combinations; like with jdk and pointing the jdbc.library to the directory where sqldeveloper is installed. I have also tried the ORACLE_HOME = %CD%. I really need help on this one. I am quite not able to understand the root cause of this error and if it relates to jdbc, I have got the proper versions set.
    Any ideas would be really appreciated.
    I have attached the current property settings of the installation....

    Elizabeth,
    I'm not in the exact same circumstance (doing a migration) but getting the exact same error while trying to use SQL Developer to retrieve MySQL data (select * from table@mysql_link) using the DG4ODBC gateway (Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC).
    It sounds like you've found some forum threads here that talk about this error. That's more than I've been able to find, with the exception of yours. Would you mind pointing me to one or two of those? A search here only turns up your thread for me. Thanks!

  • Error : Bigger type length than Maximum

    Hi
    I am using JBOSS Server-with ORACLE 10g-xe(express edition),Thru prepare statement it works well,But thru callable statement it is not working .I am getting the following error
    Bigger type length than Maximum .
    I am using
    jdbc:oracle:thin@host_name:1521:service_name & classes12.jar
    what is the solution?
    by
    balamuralikrishnan.s

    This is a jdbc specific error. Moving to OCI drivers should trash the problem.
    If you aren't able to use OCI drivers, then you should also try to upgrade your jdbc drivers to the newest version. I read about problems with a plus ( + ) in a varchar2 string causing this problem, also I heard stories about blobs, etc. etc. The error is therefore in my opinion a rather generic one that should be described in more detail by Oracle.

  • Bigger type length than maximum

    Anyone knows resolutions to problem of:
    "Bigger type length than maximum"?
    ...what's means "ErrorCode =0"?
    Please if you want help me, give me some informations

    Thanks for reply, the java method getErrorCode has given like return the number 0, the code that throws exception is java sql operation(opening and closing of statement and resultSet to executing an INSERT into ORACLE DATABASE)

  • What is this error java.sql.SQLException: Bad format for number ?

    Dear All,
    I am reading few values from database. Then I get this error "MyError:Error : java.sql.SQLException: Bad format for number 'Sarawak' in column 6. " So what is this error referring to. I have checked the database column and its value fits according the data type. Any hints please?

    I have checked the database column and its value fits according the data type.Check again. Then check again. Keep checking until you find your error. You are trying to read a string containing "Sarawak" as a number. You have "getInt(6)" or other numeric type, and the 6th column in the select statement is not numeric.

    stmt.close();
    return(curValue);
    public static void destroy() throws SQLException
    // Close the connection
    conn.close();
    but when it is called, errors "java.sql.SQLException; must be caught or declared to be thrown." encountered, how to solve this problem? please help.

    This is part of the Java language.
    If a method throws an exception, then
    it is telling you that the exception is
    something that you should be aware of.
    If you call a method which throws this exception, then the method must either catch this exception, or you may decide that this exception should be caught by the calling method.
    So, your choices are:
    1. Wrap the method call in a try{...} catch block
    -or-
    2. Change the (calling) method's signature to reflect the fact that this method can cause this exception to be thrown (add a 'throws SQLException' ) at end of signature.

This looks like the agent trying to connect a repository, but the repository is not updated correctly, or misses some columns. • Error: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]

    I am having a problem inserting/updateing date field of MS Access database with JDBC. I have tried several solutions. Serveral Field formats in the db and several methods with java. I will post my most recent attempt. I can read from the database I just can't write the date to the db, though I can write to any other field with a different datatype.
    Please don't bash me for using MS Access, it is my only option.

    Error: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]Error in row
    Please help..........

    I can insert a new row and add all the fields (includeing date (as string)), but I have to use SQL statements. I cannot get the result set functions to work.
    I can retieve a rs just fine and print all the contents of the rs.
    My problem is with rs.updateRow();
    my code is below,
    public class Cpu_Load_Total_Cpu{
    public static void main(String[] args){
    try {
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    String filename = "C:/dev/SHC/Cpu_Java/CFS_Health.mdb";
    String database = "jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=";
    database+= filename.trim() + ";DriverID=22;READONLY=false}";
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection( database ,"","");
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement(
    ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,
    ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
         ResultSet Cpu = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM Cpu");
    if (Cpu != null){
         while ( Cpu.next() ) {
                   int tUsr, tSys, tWio, tIdle, tTotal_Cpu;
                   tUsr = Cpu.getInt("Usr");
                   tSys = Cpu.getInt("Sys");
                   tWio = Cpu.getInt("Wio");
                   tIdle = 100 - (tSys + tUsr + tWio);
                   tTotal_Cpu = tSys + tUsr + tWio;
                   Cpu.updateLong(8, tTotal_Cpu);
    //or Cpu.updateLong("Total_Cpu", tTotal_Cpu);
    // I get the same error as the post above
    // when I include the Cpu.updateRow(); call
                   Cpu.updateRow();
    // when excluded everything else runs fine, but
    // the db is not updated
    // as stated, everything prints to the screen or pipe when
    // updateRow is excluded
                   System.out.println("Usr: " + tUsr );
                   System.out.println("Sys: " + tSys );
                   System.out.println("Wio: " + tWio);
                   System.out.println("Total_Cpu: " + tTotal_Cpu);
                        con.commit();
                   stmt.close();
                   con.close();
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("Error: " + e);
    }

  • Error: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too

    Error: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too few parameters. Expected 1.
    I am getting above error in my sql to access database. The program works fine if I remove where clause. But I need where clause for my prgoram. Actually, I am trying to work on user management aspect and it won't allow me to do.
    String query = "select * from user where username="+name; s.execute(query);

    Thanks for the reply. Do you mean
    Can you please further explain. I have a value against which querry is run. Say that value is stored in
    String value; (stores the user names as string)
    and then i create a querry like
    String query = "select * from user where name= 'value'";
    s.execute(query);
    in above query
    user is table name
    name is a field which stores usersname.
    if I put 'value' it does not work but i put actual names 'xxx' it works. But I cannot put actual names here.
