Error - Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded

I have installed J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10 and have been trying to run Hp Openview Service Desk 4.5, when I try to run it's client application I get the error
"Unable to start the application -- the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class no registered."
I've tried reinstalling both as well as rebooting after each installation to no avail.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Installing the Java Virtual Machine
The Java Virtual Machine is a program that is necessary for running Java programs such as PhotoSite AlbumBuilder. To install the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, download and run the appropriate installer below. After you install it, restart your computer.
Windows 98/NT/ME/XP/2000 (SP1/SP2) users:
http://support.photosite.com/msjavx86.exe
Windows 2000 (SP3) users:
http://support.photosite.com/Q300845.exe
Windows 2000 users (Service Pack 4):
Microsoft provides no installer for Windows 2K + SP4. You must either revert to an earlier Service Pack or upgrade to Windows XP instead.
* NOTE: You must be logged into an "Administrator" account to install the Virtual Machine.

I have been trying to instal an old scanner using its CD, and during the process, at about configure files, the error message in title comes up.
Is this why the HP scanner Director won't scan a document, saying the scanner is not connected properly?

If it works on the one computer, see what JRE you have - if any by doing this: go to a command prompt(used to call it a DOS window) and key in:
java -versionAlternatively, go to your add/remove programs menu and scan for a Java version.
Whichever version is mentioned - go to
    the http://java.sun.com/products/archive/
... get that and put it on your other computer.

You may need to download re-install Java. Click Support in the upper right of this page - Downloads - then type the word "Java" in the search field and look to see if there is a recent one for Snow Leopard. For example I located this one which may work for your system:

I have seen this error message all over the place but no resolution. I am running Windows XP Pro. I am able to view sites with Javascript such as www.target.com and the dropdown menus work fine. However, when I am using my very very simple Javascript menus (from Project VII) The javascript works FINE on my home PC - but not on my work PC. My Java panel appears to be corrupted, when I try to open it, I just get a blank screen and it hangs. My Javascript is enable in all places.
I'm going crazy! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Java[u] is not JavaScript. Which product are you having trouble with? If it's JS, you need to ask the questions at a JS site, not here.
To run a java program, change the cmd prompt to the directory that contains the Java .class files and issue this command:
java -classpath . <name of the class without the extension>
IMPORTANT: include the period and surrounding spaces.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I have java ee 5 sdk installed on my machine.

    Hello Guys!

So I went to MetaLink and did a search on the "libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object" found in your error message. The very first hit returned was note 308755.1, titled "OUI Reports The Error: Exception java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall*/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.So.6: Cannot Open Shared Object File"
The terms of MetaLink usage prevent me from quoting from the note, but you would be advised to go read it for yourself. Suffice it to say you are missing some rpms. The specific ones missing are not listed in the above referenced not, but it will point you in the right direction.

  • "Java Virtual Machine not loaded"

I get this message every time I boot up. It just started recently. Anyone know how to fix that? Everything seems to run okay, but that annoying box pops up every time.
    "Java Virtual Machine not loaded"
    Thanks in advance.

    To state the obvious:
    1 - Install JAVA
2 - Java is installed: change your PATH vaialbe to point to the folder with JAVA.EXE in it.
3 - check to be sure your CLASSPATH variable is correct -- this will not give you the error you describe, but it will make other things very anoying.
4 - If everything in 1-3 look good, then uninstall, delete any remaining JAVA folders and reboot (cold boot), and then re-install JAVA and pay attention to any errors that may be generated (It sounds like something messed up your install before).

  • Installation fails with "Cannot launch the Java Virtual Machine"

I'm trying to install OAS 10.1.3.1. on Windows XPbut after copying all the files the installer starts complaining that it cannot lauch the Java Virtual Machine. Eventually, the process gets to the configuration step where it succeeds with one configuration, then fails with the next, and then finally goes into an eternal loop.
When launching the installer it claims that my environment successfully passes all test for memory size, etc.
Is this a known problem? Is there any way I can get more info about the reason why the JVM could not get lauched? I searched for information in the logs without success. I also tried to play around with the PATH environment variable since I saw some installation note saying that includingthe jre/bin path here could help, but it did not help.
Could anyone, please, give me a hint of how to complete the installation successfully?

    Thanks for the hint.
I had a look in the INI-file of my BPEL installation and this is what it said about memory:
    JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=" -mx256m"
Still, if I start the BPEL server it finally comes up after issuing a lot of complaints but as soon as I request a page I get this:

  • Error message: " Couldn't create Java Virtual Machine"

    Hi,
I recently downloaded from IBM rational application developer for websphere software v 7.5. The installation was successful. But when I try to open it, the error message:"could not create the Java virtual Machine".
I am working on Windows Xp pro. and java is automatically updated the current version jre 1.6/
even I tried to run eclipse from the directory c:/programfiles/IBM/SDP still same problem.
Please some one help me how to fix it.
    Thanks.

Do you resolve the problem? If so what was the fix?
I have been getting the Java Virtual Machine Launcher error message “Could not create the virtual machine” when attempting to run an Oracle application that uses JNLP via a browser. Even clicking on componets such as javaw.exe produces the error message. In conjunction with receiving the error message, the application that I am working with will not launch.
I had JRE 5u10 and J2RE 1.4.2u13 installed and thought that installing JDK 5u17 may resolve the issue. I removed JRE 5u10 and J2RE 1.4.2u13 and installed JDK 5u17 (and the included JRE 5u17.) The error message was still there.
I have unistalled (via Add/Remove programs) and reinstalled (via both Win off-line and on-line) JDK 5u17 and JRE 5u17 many times.
During the uninstalls I have received a Java Web Start 1.5.0_17 bad installation – error invoking JVM error message.
I have restarted the machine also.
There are some remains of J2RE 1.4.2u13 still on the machine –even after the 1.4.2u13 uninstall. The Java\j2re1.4.2_13\lib folder remains.
    I am running Win XP SP2 and IE6 SP2.
Note: I cannot use Java 6 since the application that I am working with is Java 5 based.
