Error message Old format or invalid type library
Hello,
We have updated Webtools to SP1 PL2. We are getting this error.
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'SAPbobsCOM.SBObob'.
This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with
IID '{268D6CC3-E244-4AD7-B009-16C8ED7F710A}' failed due to the following error:
Old format or invalid type library. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80028019 (TYPE_E_UNSUPFORMAT)).

Any ideas what this means and how to solve this?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a problem with the DI API?

"Invalid type library" error when opening Excel via ActiveX
Hi,
I am trying to open Excel via ActiveX (Automation open function), for
instance by running the
build in example "Open Excel and make visible". However, on some computers,
I recieve the error code -2147319784 "Old format or invalid type library".
The problem seems to be that LabView is unable to recognize the ActiveX
control, as it does not appear in the list "Select ActiveX Class". It works
perfecly from Matlab though, so the control seem to be in order. I have also
tried reinstalling Office.
On most computers it works perfectly, but three identical Dell P4 900Mhz
have the same problem.
/Stefan BorgThis may be happening due to different Excel versions, a vi made to control Excel 97 won't work for Excel 2000 and vice-versa. Be sure you are using the correct activeX calls for each one.
Good luck -
Getting Error Message using Formatted Search
Hi,
I am using formatted search for validating a particular field, and that happens fine. Kindly let me know if I can also display error messages using the same formatted search.
If yes, what am I to include in the formatted search, and if No, please let me know the alternative.
Thanks in advance.
Satish.Hi Satish,
if you validate the value of a field and intend to rise an error message on detection of invalid values in a separate window or in the status line there is no way to do it with Formatted Searches (as far as I know)!
You could use the following methods as simple workarounds if you don't want to program a solution with the SDK:
1. Solution
You can display the text of an error message in the field you validate; of course, the invalid data then is overwritten with your error message, but you could construct the message from fixed text parts concatenated with the data found in the field.
Be sure to save the original data of the field in your query before you do anything else. This way you sustain the field data in case the data is valid!
Example:
DECLARE @save AS ....
SET @save = $[xxxxx]
IF $[xxxxx] test on invalid data
SELECT 'Error: Invalid data: ' + $[xxxxx] -- in case of error
ELSE
SELECT $[xxxxx] -- no error - sustain valid data
END
2. Solution:
You define a sepate User Defined Field (UDF) for potential error messages - that's the way I often programmed it for our own applications. Suppose that the Formatted Search is connected to this UDF and the field to validate is field 'xxxxx'. The Formatted Search is triggered (auto-refresh) on change of field 'xxxxx':
IF $[xxxxx] test on invalid data
SELECT 'Error: Invalid data: ' + $[xxxxx] -- in case of error
END
May be that there are minor syntactical errors or missing type conversions in the code above - but I hope it gives you an idea on how to solve your problem without SDK programming!
Good luck!

Error Message as START_FORM is invalid,OPEN_FORM is Missing
HI Team,
When i am trying to create a Standard Order using Transaction VA01 and sales document type as OR,when the order is complete and i try to save i get the message as "Error Message as START_FORM is invalid,OPEN_FORM is Missing",look like a SAP SCRIPT issue ,i checked NACE transaction and looks like a PDF form is mentioned there but when i debug the code i get a FORM which is different than one maintained in NACE ,also when i try to look the form in Se71(the one which i got during debugging) i get the message as the Form is not available in Lnaguage EN.
Note sure why i get the message as " START_FORM is invalid,OPEN_FORM is Missing".
Can someone help me on this.
Regards
LKHi,
1. If you attempt to use a form that does not exist, OPEN_FORM or START_FORM returns an exception(FORM). If the application does not react to this exception and continues with printing, it terminates with the above-mentioned error.
2. The error can also occur if form printing is implicitly terminated. This happens if a page has no subsequent page and further data is to be printed.
Solution
1. Check in Customizing whether the required form is stored for printing, and whether it exists (transaction SE71, form maintenance).
2. Check whether all pages of your form have a subsequent page. This is often not the case, and the above error occurs when further pages are to be printed.
3. Either a form is not defined for a print list used or an output device assigned to a list does not exist into your system.

I am running iWork 09 (latest versions in all cases)*. When I try to export files from all three of the applications Pages, Keynote and Numbers into the relevant Office formats, I get the error "The file format is invalid." It works fine with PDF or RTF export.
I am able to open the same files in the iPad versions of thess iWork apps, and then export them. While this workaround will do for now, I'd like to be able to just export correctly.
Anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?
Thanks,
Iarla
* on a MacBook Pro '07, running Lion 10.7.1.Yes, this worked a treat, thanks very much! *
Iarla
* Note that I needed to manually remove iWorks as the For_iWork:iWork '09:iWork9Update5.dmg.zip file wouldn't work on the latest version of iWorks. This involved deleting the iWork folders in the Applications and Library directories. -

I just downloaded Ilife 9 and now my Iphoto doesn't open. The error message says: You cannot open your library using this version. Quit and use the older version. What can I do?
iLife '09 is not available as a download - it is only available as a purchase
iLife '11 is available as a DVD purchase and the compoments of it are available from the App Store (iPhoto '11 (version 9.1.5), etc)
Exactly what did you do? And exactly what does the error message say?
On the surface it appears that you are attemptying to open a new library with an older version (iPhoto '09 can not open an iPhoto '11 library for example)

What does the Error Message: "File format not supported" mean?
When I first open an existing project, I get an Error Message: "File format not supported". After a few seconds all the windows open up and I can continue to edit. My question is will this "File format not supported" haunt me later or shall I continue to edit as I am doing? Why does this error message come up? All the current footage is shot on same camera, the Canon 5D Mark III at 23.98 time code rate, 1920 x 1080.

what is the proplem in statment sextype in stored procedureStart over - completely. The tsql for your view is poorly written.
One does not have a sex, one has a GENDER.
I can understand a conversion of datatype like "CONVERT(varchar, dbo.Employee.DateToday, 103) AS DateToday", but not "CONVERT(varchar, dbo.Employee.SexID, 103) " - style 103 is for datetime datatypes and the column name SexID does not
remotely imply that datatype.
Similarly, stop being so lazy and specify the length of your converted varchar column rather than allowing it to default to some length. And if you are going to convert to varchar, shouldn't you be converting to nvarchar given that your procedure
arguments are nvarchar? Consistency will only help your code stability and correctness.
To continue with the datetime to varchar conversion, is this an attempt to simply strip the time component from a column that is datetime? If so, simply convert it to date and avoid any possibility of error due to interpretation assumptions with the
converted string and its format.
Lastly, do you really need all of those outer joins? I find it difficult to believe that an employee does not have a required relationship with a majority of those tables.
As for your problem, please post the complete and entire error message - exactly as displayed. Presumably you have performed a basic test of your view and verified that it still works (i.e., nothing was changed about the tables involved in the view
after the view was created). Something like "select top 1 * from dbo.ViewEmpTEST where SexType = 'x';" should execute successfully and return an empty resultset.
And, of course, the SexType column is (presumably) nvarchar, so you will need to enclose the value you are searching for in your dynamic sql with single quotes. If you intend to provide dynamic searching functionality, you will need to learn to code
it and debug it yourself. The others have already indicated that this approach is a security-risk. At the very least, you should capture the string that you are attempting to execute and visually examine it yourself when you discover that
it does not work. It will then become obvious (assuming the code you currently have posted is what you are using) that the error is your inclusion of the SexType argument in the string:
select ... where ... And (SexType = male)
