We are new to Primavera. This post has been very helpful. One problem I am having is when I run manual_script_before_install.sql I get the following message:
I am unable to find PPM.sql anywhere on my machine. I've also been following the steps on the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHnG5ocLUCs

There is a space in your directory name "PPM 8.3" -- when you run a script with the @ symbol via sqlplus, make sure the location you're running it from has no spaces.

An error occurred while launching/running the application

We've been using Web Start to deliver one of our products for over 2 months. We're getting about 10 downloads of our application a day which is very good considering we're in a very niche market (mapping applications). However, some customers (about 20%) are having a number of problems with Web Start either during installation or during download. For this reason we had to create a stand alone installer for customers that couldn't get Web Start working or more commonly could get Web Start working but couldn't download our application. The most common problem we see is the 'Unable to load resource' problem. I've attached the different errors and different exceptions sent from a customers site. Can you spread any light on this. Is it to do with Web Start not being able to identify the proxy?

Apologies for the lack of response only I bust my knee a week ago and I've been in agony since. Anyway enough moaning.
Yes users are behind a firewall. From what I can get from Sun the problem stems from JWS's inability to detect script based proxies. This is very frustrating because we have about 25% of our customers that just can't use JWS because of this. Ok so they could type it in manually, however, how many system support people are going to give out those sorts of details to end users, besides most end user don't even know what a proxy is!
To get around this we've provided a standalone installer (which defies the point of JWS in the first place). Don't get me wrong I think JWS is an amazing piece of software, however, I can't see how JWS can be used successful across the internet until this is solved, intranet, extranet fine.
In our experience you can't leave 25% of your customer base behind!

Enable Verbose Logging while running the propagation script

I have created two weblogic portal domains one in DEV, and other in TEST. Each domain is a cluster of two managed servers. Portal content propagation script is failing and I have opened a support case with Oracle. Support engineer has asked me to run the propagation script after enabling verbose logging. I am a weblogic administrator, not a developer, I don't have access any of my development team until Monday. When I spoke with Support engineer earlier he said it can be accomplished using deployment plan.
Does anybody have any detail instructions or sample I can use?

import script run successfully in the command prompt with apps user.

Hello,
What I thought you meant when you said "Port" was that you were using a Distribution project to move it to other machines. Therefore you have two options to proceed.
1) Copy the nicppaiu.dll from the system folder on your machine to the system folder on another machine you are "Porting" to.
2) Add a project to your solution that is a Setup project. Then add the output of your application to this project and add the MSM discussed earlier. This will create a MSI that can be used to install your application on multiple machines (it still requires a NI-DAQmx install).
There is a good topic in our help named "Deploying Measurement Studio Applications" that tells you everything you need to know.

Try downloading the jar file itself and opening it with winzip or checking its contents with jar tf <jarfile name>
if it is indeed corrupt (as the exception stacktrace seems to indicate) try mailing the person who wrote the demo so that he can check whether the jarfile is there or not, and whether it is corrupt or not.

This seems like a very strange thing to want to do.
What is the perl script doing?
Do other programs (not some shell script) access this server-side perl script from a different machine?
If so how do they do it?
What currently triggers the perl script to execute?
What currently handles the output from the perl script?
If you can answer these questions (and understand the answers) you should be able to come up with a different approach to this.
You do not really want to call a remote perl script from a Java program, you want to achieve the effect you think that would have if you could do it.
So find the answers to the above questions, write them on 3" x 5" cards and lay them out on your desk.
What flow of control needs to happen? Which piece of code needs to produce or consume which piece of data?
If that fails, ask you self or who ever is making you do this what are the use-cases?
If you do not know what use-cases are or do not understand them well enough try reading
