Error reading contructor method
Hey there, an error occurs when I try to make an instance of a contructor class file. Can you see what I'm doing wrong?

it is not weird, it is a bug in the application. Don't let the upgrade from Java 5 to Java 6 make you believe otherwise.It's a singularly bad exception message though. I would have thought that something from java.util might be a bit more explicit about what the problem is.

Hi guys,
Im having some troubles with the Log Viewer tool.
Im monitoring my XI development through three files: defaultTrace.trc, applications.log and xi.log, Im reading these files using the Visual Administrator Tool -> Cluster -> Server -> Services -> LogViewer. Everything was working fine, but suddenly when I tried to reopen a file, the tool was not being able to display any file at all. The error message thrown is:

I tried to solve this problem by restarting the LogViewer service but it didnt work. Then, I restarted the J2EE Server with the transaction SMICM, open again the Visual Administrator and check the logs with the LogViewer and was working again, but after some time I was getting the same error again.
Any idea of how to solve this?
Cheers,
MauricioHi All,
I had same issue trying to edit sat.trc file, I fixed this problem by manual editing sat.trc file and modified the following line:
<!FORMATTER[com.sap.tc.logging.perf.PerfFormatter]/>
change to:
<!FORMATTER[com.sap.tc.logging.ListFormatter]/>
after changes you will able to open file with Visaul Admin Log Viewer or standalone logviewer.
Hope it helps.

Error reading data from CLOB column into VARCHAR2 variable
Hi all,
Am hitting an issue retrieving data > 8K (minus 1) stored in a CLOB column into a VARCHAR2 variable in PL/SQL...
The "problem to be solved" here is storing DDL, in this case a "CREATE VIEW" statement, that is longer than 8K for later retrieval (and execution) using dynamic SQL. Given that the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statement can take a VARCHAR2 variable (up to 32K(-1)), this should suffice for our needs, however, it seems that somewhere in the process of converting this VARCHAR2 text to a CLOB for storage, and then retrieving the CLOB and attempting to put it back into a VARCHAR2 variable, it is throwing a standard ORA-06502 exception ("PL/SQL: numeric or value error"). Consider the following code:
set serveroutput on
drop table test1;
create table test1(col1 CLOB);
declare
cursor c1 is select col1 from test1;
myvar VARCHAR2(32000);
begin
myvar := '';
for i in 1..8192 loop
myvar := myvar || 'a';
end loop;
INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
for arec in c1 loop
begin
myvar := arec.col1;
dbms_output.put_line('Read data of length ' || length(myvar));
exception when others then
dbms_output.put_line('Error reading data: ' || sqlerrm);
end;
end loop;
end;
If you change the loop upper bound to 8191, all works fine. I'm guessing this might have something to do with the database character set -- we've recently converted our databases over to UTF-8, for Internationalizion support, and that seems to have changed underlying assumptions regarding character processing...?
As far as the dynamic SQL issue goes, we can probably use the DBMS_SQL interface instead, with it's EXECUTE procedure that takes a PL/SQL array of varchar2(32K) - the only issue there is reading the data from the CLOB column, and then breaking that data into an array but that doesn't seem insurmountable. But this same basic issue (when a 9K text block, let's say, turns into a >32K block after being CLOBberred) seems to comes up in other text-processing situations also, so any ideas for how to resolve would be much appreciated.
Thanks for any tips/hints/ideas...
JimFor those curious about this, here's the word from Oracle support (courtesy of Metalinks):
RESEARCH
========
Test the issue for different DB version and different characterset.
--Testing the following PL/SQL blocks by using direct assignment method(myvar := arec.col1;) on
different database version and different characterset.
SQL>create table test1(col1 CLOB);
--Inserting four CLOB data into test1.
declare
myvar VARCHAR2(32767);
begin
myvar := RPAD('a',4000);
INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
myvar := RPAD('a',8191);
INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
myvar := RPAD('b',8192);
INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
myvar := RPAD('c',32767);
INSERT INTO test1 (col1) VALUES (myvar);
commit;
end;
--Testing the direct assignment method.
declare
cursor c1 is select col1, length(col1) len1 from test1;
myvar VARCHAR2(32767);
begin
for arec in c1 loop
myvar := arec.col1;
--DBMS_LOB.READ(arec.col1, arec.len1, 1, myvar);
dbms_output.put_line('Read data of length: ' || length(myvar));
end loop;
end;
The following are the summary of the test results:
===================================
1. If the database characterset is WE8ISO8859P1, then the above direct assignment
method(myvar := arec.col1;) works for database version 9i/10g/11g without any
errors.
2. If the database characterset is UTF8 or AL32UTF8, then the above direct assignment method(myvar := arec.col1;) will generate the "ORA-06502:
PL/SQL: numeric or value error" when the length of the CLOB data is greater
than 8191(=8K-1). The same error can be reproduced across all database versions
9i/10g/11g.
3. Using DBMS_LOB.READ(arec.col1, arec.len1, 1, myvar) method to read CLOB data into a VARCHAR2 variable works for both WE8ISO8859P1 and UTF8
characterset and for all database versions.
So - it seems as I'd surmised, UTF8 changes the way VARCHAR2 and CLOB data is handled. Not too surprising, I suppose - may you all be lucky enough to be able to stay away from this sort of issue. But - the DBMS_LOB.READ workaround is certainly sufficient for the text processing situations we find ourselves in currently.

Each cluster servers domain names are different i.e. not "mydomain". The
file its complaining is in the specified directory and it has proper
priviledges.
If anyone has an idea please respond.
Thanks

You're getting that probably because the WL instance was not shut down properly.
If that's the case, you'll need to remove an ldap lock file (with a .lok extension) in the directory of ldap files (under the server dir) . -
Hi , when i try to run my program, i keep getting the error msg:
Error(23,19): method getName(java.lang.String) not found in class javax.swing.JTextField
I have checked the java API and it inherits from the awt.Component class and should be accessible via the jtextfield.
I have tried the following:
trying to initailise the JTextField at the start.
Using getName works if i use it within the loop after setting the name.
Does anybody know what i am doing wrong please?
public class clsMember extends JPanel implements ActionListener {
private JButton jbtnLog;
private String surname;
private JTextField txtItem;
public clsMember() {
super(new SpringLayout());
makeInterface();
surname = txtItem.getName("Surname").toString();
private void makeInterface() {
//code omitted
for (int i = 0; i < numpairs; i++) {
JLabel l = new JLabel(strLabels, JLabel.LEADING);
this.add(l);
//if the array item is salutation create a combobox
if (strLabels[i] == "Salutation") {
jcomSalutation = new JComboBox(strSalutation);
jcomSalutation.setSelectedIndex(0);
this.add(jcomSalutation);
} else {
txtItem = new JTextField(10);
l.setLabelFor(txtItem);
txtItem.setName(strLabels[i].replaceAll(" ", "")); //this is where the label is set and if i do a system.out it shows fine. getName works here too.
this.add(txtItem);
//code omittedIf i have a loop that creates the jtextfields such as
txtItem = new JTextField(10);
l.setLabelFor(txtItem);
txtItem.setName(strLabels.replaceAll(" ", ""));
this.add(txtItem);How is it then possible to assign to a string the value of a *specific jtextfield*. Lets say that one of these JTextfields has the name surname.
How is it possible for me to writeString surname = surnamejtextfield.getText(); -

Job is failing with the following error- Error calling a method of the tree
dear SDNers,
my question is where do i need to look for error.
Will this be an ABAP issue?
Please guide
DETAILS
In SM37 when we see the job XYZ, we get the following details.
Job Ln Job CreatedB Status Start date Start time Duration(sec.) Delay (sec.)
XYZ Canceled 16.11.2009 10:11:30 9 27
When the job log is checked this , we get the below details.
The job XYZ is failing with the following error.
Date Time Class No. Message
+----
+----
2009/11/16 05:03:01 | 00 516 | Job started
2009/11/16 05:03:01 | 00 550 | Step 001 started (program RBDMON00, variant
SBCI287, user ID ABCDEF)
2009/11/16 05:03:03 | TREE_C 000 | Error calling a method of the tree control
2009/11/16 05:03:03 | 00 518 | Job cancelled
Equest your assistance in knowing where to find the error for this.
I have no clue as to where and how i need to debug or where i should i be looking for error.
In BD87, the selection screen paramters that are given are changed on date (from and to) and IDOC status 51,66,69 and 64 and the message type is "Öutbound interface of picked shipments"
Please guide.
Regards,
SuryaD.

Edited by: SuryaD on Nov 23, 2009 11:14 PM> 1. There is a job name ABCDEF
> 2. When this job is run then the status shows cancelled and the job error log shows tHe details that "error calling a method of the tree control"
> 3.ThIs error also points fingers to /link to BD87 as seen in the job log " (program RBDMON00, variant \SBCI287, user ID KRISF)"

BD87 is an IDOC processing.
> My question to you Sampath.

>
Go to sm37 - double click on the job that was failed - Click on Step (on application tool bar) to get the program name - double click on the program name - new popup will be opened - then copy the program and variant
Go to se38 - enter the program - execute (F8) - choose the variant that is there in the background job - run in forground first
if the run is good - then check the program - SE38 - Display the program then see
I just saw the above message BD87... .if that is true, you dont have to do all these
I dont think it is possible to schedule a job with BD87. Is this the first time or is any job completed without errors for this? -
Exception caught: error reading
Hi, I have a problem with the following code.
I tried in the public class ListOfRncs to read in the file location of the input and output files.
hence, with a
while(((inFileLocation = inFileUserInput()).equals("end")) != true){
String outFileLocation = outFileUserInput();
vectorListOfCells = tableCells.appendToList(inFileLocation, outFileLocation, sheetNo);
//vectorListOfRncs.add(vectorListOfCells);
sheetNo ++;
System.out.println("done");
} i tried to read in one file, and generate one output at a time.
however, i only managed to read in and generated one file, and the system catch an exception: 'error reading'
I tried to use a simple while loop:
while(((inFileLocation = inFileUserInput()).equals("end")) != true){
System.out.println("inFileLocation");
System.out.println("done"); that works fine, and ends when i input 'end' however, when done as follows, the program ends prematurely after just 1 input. could it be possible that it has to do with the excel sheet gerneration?
class tableCells{ //each class tableCells (=Rnc) consists of a table of cells in vector form
//...other methods
public static Vector appendToList(String inFileLoc, String outFileLoc, int sheetNum) throws IOException, WriteException{
//...declaratons and initialisations
try{
Vector v= new Vector();
File f1 = new File (inFileLoc);
FileReader fileReader = new FileReader(inFileLoc);
BufferedReader br1 = new BufferedReader (fileReader);
WritableWorkbook workbook = Workbook.createWorkbook (new File (outFileLoc));
WritableSheet sheet = workbook.createSheet("Sheet", sheetNum);
writeLabelFormatSheet (sheet, attrName);
//method details
workbook.write();
workbook.close();
return v;
catch (FileNotFoundException e){
System.out.println("Error: file not fd");
return new Vector();
catch (IOException e){
System.out.println("Error reading");
return new Vector();
public class ListOfRncs{ //class tableRnc consists of several Rnc class
public static String inFileUserInput() throws IOException{
System.out.println("Enter input File Location:");
BufferedReader inLine = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
String fileLoc = inLine.readLine();
return fileLoc;
public static String outFileUserInput() throws IOException{
System.out.println("Enter Output File Location:");
BufferedReader inLine = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
String fileLoc = inLine.readLine();
return fileLoc;
public static void main (String[] args) throws IOException, WriteException{
Vector vectorListOfCells = new Vector(); //to store the object OneCell
Vector vectorListOfRncs = new Vector();
String inFileLocation;
int sheetNo = 0;
try{
while(((inFileLocation = inFileUserInput()).equals("end")) != true){
String outFileLocation = outFileUserInput();
vectorListOfCells = tableCells.appendToList(inFileLocation, outFileLocation, sheetNo);
//vectorListOfRncs.add(vectorListOfCells);
sheetNo ++;
System.out.println("done");
catch(IOException e){
System.out.println("error reading");
//catch(FileNotFoundException e){
// System.out.println("file not found");
}the method appendToList() returns a vector, and output the values onto an excel sheet.

Dear all,
I am working on a MacOSX. I am having trouble in using a Dynamic Library generated from C files and accessed from a java project using JNI.
The loading of the library work well bur when i try to access a method I have the following error:
FATAL ERROR in native method: JNI received a class argument that is not a class
at cytosolve.sbmlSolver.SBMLSolver.initSolver(Native Method)
at cytosolve.sbmlSolver.SBMLSolver.<init>(SBMLSolver.java:87)
at cytosolve.sbmlSolver.cytosolve.main(cytosolve.java:29)where the Native method inside the C file is the following:
JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
Java_cytosolve_sbmlSolver_SBMLSolver_initSolver(JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jstring model_filename, jdouble totalTime, jint numSteps)and it is called from the Java file as:
int successCode = initSolver(model_filename, totalTime, numSteps);Do you have any idea on where is the problem and how to fix it?
Thank you,
Eva.Everything seems to be right. Maybe you use JNI functions inproperly?

FATAL ERROR in native method: Wrong Method ID
I have a piece of C code from which I am trying to launch a piece of Java, but I am having severe problems just trying to get a simple integer value returned from any Java function. I keep getting the error message "FATAL ERROR in native method: Wrong method ID used to invode a Java method"
My C code looks like :
JNIEnv *env;
long result;
jmethodID mid;
jclass cls;
jobjectArray args;
jstring jstr;
jint res;
jobject myObj;
options[0].optionString = "-Djava.class.path=.";
options[1].optionString = "-Djava.compiler=NONE";
options[2].optionString = "-verbose:jni";
vm_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_2;
vm_args.options = options;
vm_args.nOptions = 2;
vm_args.ignoreUnrecognized = JNI_FALSE;
// Create the Java VM
result = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm,(void **)&env, &vm_args);
if (result == JNI_ERR )
printf("Can't create Java VM\n");
exit(1);
else
printf("Java VM created successfully\n");
cls = (*env)->FindClass(env, "Example1");
if (cls == 0){
printf("Can't find Class\n");
exit(1);
else
printf("Class Found\n");
mid = (*env)->GetMethodID(env, cls, "GetIntValue", "()I" );
if (mid == 0) {
printf("Can't find function\n");
exit(1);
else
printf("Function Found\n");
res = (*env)->CallIntMethod(env, cls, mid);
if (res != 0)
char pszTempString[256] = {'\0'};
sprintf (pszJavaString, "Returned from Java the value of %d", res);
printf("Returned from Java with ");
printf(pszJavaString);
My GetMethodID call works correctly and I have checked the signature (using javap -s) and that works fine. I've seen many references on these forums about using NewObject prior to calling CallIntMethod, but if I try to use that I then get the error message "FATAL ERROR in native method: a non-constructor passed to NewObject".
Any body got any ideas please.
ThanksWhat I couldn't figure out from your code is where you create the java object that is supposed to return the integer to your C code.
Alternatives:
o This is just code snippets, and you really are creating the object.
o Error - the object should have been created.
o Error - it is a static method, and you should be finding a static method and calling it on a class object.
(Other than that, I didn't see anything obviously wrong. -

</application>Hi Bris,
The problem is that the MyProducer.jsp cannot be found (this has absolutely nothing to do with EPCF). Probably you have put it into the wrong path: "This path is relative to the private resources (in PORTAL-INF in PAR) of the portal application", see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/16/d12c413894f823e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I.e., if you have put it under .../PORTAL-INF/pagelet/MyProducer.jsp, the corresponding portalapp.xml entry must read:
<property name="JSP" value="pagelet/MyProducer.jsp"/>
Hope it helps

System error in asynchronous method start during release of PR
Hi,
When trying to release the purchase requisition out of workflow inbox, information message is displayed as "System error in asynchronous method start". After clicking enter to ignore the information message and trying to release the purchase requisition, the same message pops up again.
Appreciate if someone can please provide help in resolving the issue.
Thank you.Hi Sanju,
Thank you so much for responding. The user was actually created new in the workflow and there were some missing authorisations. The Basis team fixed the authorisation and the issue is now resolved.
Really appreciate the help. -
