Error running app wich uses Cristal Reports XI in client PCs

Hello,
have Crystal Reports XI for Developers. I have develop an application qich connects with CR to show reports. When I try to execute the app in a client computer (not my developing machine) and i have an error when i try to connect and show a report.
The error is number 512 and its description: Print Engine not opened
In the developing computer there is no error because i have installed the desktop application, but i would like not to have to install the Desktop Application of CR in each client computer where i would like to run my application.
Whit dll,s or something else i need to avoid this problem??
Thanks.

Hello,
crpe32 as a report engine was deprecated as of CR 9. But I now assume you maybe using Delphi? Would be more informative if you gave all this info first so we don't have to ask or guess...
Search here if you are using delphi on "delphi" and you'll find more info and how to's.
If you are not using Delphi then your only option now is to either move to the RDC which also was deprecated in CR XI R2 or use our .NET assemblies and upgrade to Visual Studio 2008 or 2010.
Thank you
Don

  • Using Cristal Report Version 10

Hi, I´m using Cristal report version 10 with MS Visual Studio 2005 and stored procedure in database using RefCursor statement. This architecture works fine with oracle 9, but doesn´t work with Oracle 8.1.7.4.
Does any one could help me?
    Thank´s.
    Vicente.

Since the device presents itself as a COM port (pretty standard with the FTDI chips) you should be able to use the RS-232 library in CVI.  OpenComConfig() will open a connection to the device, ComWrt() will write data to it, and the various ComRd() functions can be used to read the responses back.

  • Error running Table Definition (cktci) Repository Report in Designer 10G

    Hi
There seems to be some internal limitation when running the Table Definition Repository Report (cktci).
We have over a thousand tables defined in Designer and if I try to run the report for all tables it falls over with the reports.log saying
    REP-0069: Internal error
    REP-57054: In-process job terminated:Terminated with error:
    REP-271504897: Error executing CA utility.
    REP-3335: Unhandled Internal CA Error.
    caxml 2
REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
    REP-271504897:
    Not very useful information.
If the report is run using a smaller subset of tables. For example if I use a parameter of A% for the table name then it works OK.
I have been able to create reports up to about 600 pages but after that it falls over. So if I try to run the report with a parameter like S% it will fall over.
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue and found a fix.
There is the obvious workaround of running the report for smaller subsets of data but we would like it to be able to run for all tables if possible.
    Any feedback appreciated.
    Regards,
    Adrian

Sorry for the slow reply. I've been trying a number of different things to get this to work.
I reinstalled Developer as suggested but we don't have a patched version so there were no additional patches to apply. I re-ran the installer anyway to see if it would update anything.
I couldn't find any reference to Developer patches that might fix this issue in metalink.
I also tried messing with the JVM options to give it more memory etc but that didn't help.
After using the Designer diagnostics trace I got the arguments it uses to run the same report from the command line.
This resulted in the same issue. So at least it was consistent from Designer as well as the command line.
This suggests it is a reports issue rather than Designer.
Running the reports trace didn't provide any extra information. Found a bug that suggested changing any formula columns to not return NULL.
Tried updating the report to fix that too but no joy.
I will post here if I discover the solution.

  • Error while running Java application using Crystal Reports 2011

    Hello,
I would like to ask for your help.
    Environment details:
Java based standalone application in Development environment.
Crystal Reports 2011 (no SP applied)
    Oracle 11g ( 32 bit client installed)
    Win7 64 bit OS.
    Workflow:
While running the java application, which will display the reports I am getting the below mentioned error. I guess that is because I am missing the Crystal runtimes (Correct me if I am wrong).
I know that CR2011 do not have any sdks/ jar available for deployment. In this case, which runtimes should I be using? Does installing CR2011 be enough in the development box?
Please provide me the link from which I can download the same.
Let me know if I need to provide more details on this. Any suggestions are most welcome.
    Thank You.

  • Error running App: "Item Not Available"

I have an iOS application that I developed that runs fine newer iPhones and iPads.
I get this error on a 1st generation iPad running iOS 5.1.1: "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."
The app is distributed by the B2B store and was installed using a coupon code.
5.1.1 is the latest version that will run on a 1st generation iPad.
I double checked the app's settings in itunes connect and it is marked as available in the U.S. store; in fact, that is the only store it is available in.
Other similar apps that I have developed will run fine on the iPad 1, BUT those apps are built for the public Appstore. This is why I am pursuing B2B as the problem.
A user reported this problem to me, and I was able to reproduce it easily, so it is not limited to one device.  But seems to be limited to iPad 1 or iOS 5.1.1.
I cannot find any documentation that this should not work.
How can I get the real reason this is failing?
Is there documentation on minimum version of iOS that supports B2B distribution?
    What else should I check?

For non-Oracle database, you need to use the OracleAS release of DataDirect JDBC drivers available from either the OracleAS DC or OracleAS download area.

  • IPhone SDK beta 4: error running app on device

My app ran fine on my iPhone up until beta 4. I've fixed in in accordance with the changes to the SDK, and it runs perfectly on the simulator. I've also followed the directions in the Program Portal to use code signing for the app.
When I try to compile it for the device, I get the following errors:
cc1obj: error: /var/folders/pA/pAvrzjzKGQe5O6saRJWAXE+TI/-Caches-/com.apple.Xcode.501/SharedPrecompiledHeaders/iCrosswordPrefix-ayguzoobuyunjzbvsayctaqnkcfp/iCrosswordPrefix.pch: No such file or directory
cc1obj: error: one or more PCH files were found, but they were invalid
cc1obj: error: use -Winvalid-pch for more information
I get about 7 copies of those errors, once per header file in my app.
Does anyone know what this means, or how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Eliza

Sorry, I'm an idiot; I didn't clean my targets before compiling. After cleaning targets, it installed and ran without any trouble.

    Hi,
I resolved the problem by making spring.jar part of my executable jar file. I have added oimclient.jar, spring.jar, wlfullclient.jar, commons-logging.jar, and eclipselink.jar part of my executable jar. Now I am getting the error below. I googled it and it mentioned that i should add path of authwl.conf in my run configuration in eclipse. So i added the following line in " -Djava.security.auth.login.config=/u01/oracle/Middleware/Oracle_IDM1/server/CustomExec/authwl.conf " under the VM Arguments section of run configuration, but it continues to give the same error.

  • ERROR: Running OA page using Jdeveloper.

    Hi,
We have extened one ABCVO.xml object related one page. Now i want to run the page from jdeveloper i am getting an error saying XXABCVO.xml of type defination is not found .
Is there any extra setup i have to do reflect the extended changes to be apper in the page when i am running page using Jdeveloper. Please help me.
    Thanks
    sreenu.

    Hi sreenu,
Whenever you are extending a seeded VO, you need to create the substitution for the old VO by clicking on the .jpx file.
Then import the jpx file using the jpximport command from command prompt.
To run the page which contains the customizations, you need to add -Djbo=ProjectName in the runner option of your project settings. Then you will be able to run the page from your local Jdeveloper.

  • Error in CASE statement used in Reports query

My query has lots of selection criteria. I'm trying to use CASE for that.
This is a part of my query with parameters:
    AND ad.location IN (CASE &p_location
    WHEN 1 THEN
    (SELECT TRIM(code_nbr) FROM code_detail
    WHERE code_nbr like 'LC%')
WHEN 2 THEN -- then the user can type in more than 1 locations
    &p_location1|| p_location2
    END)
AND --- there are more conditions after this
The query fails that invalid relational operator in this CASE statement.
Any suggestions...is there any other way to do it...Thanks in advance

I would recommend the use of lexical parameters in the before report trigger
    Set up a parameter SQL_WHERE - text, 4000 chars.
In your datamodel get rid of the case statement and just put &SQL_WHERE
In the before report trigger modify your case statement to be something like:
    &SQL_WHERE:=' and ad.location in ';
    case when :p_location = 1 then
    &SQL_WHERE:=&SQL_WHERE||' select trim(code_nbr) from code_detail etc';
    end
This way you can debug and test your case statement in the pl/sql environment. Plus the query should run faster as you are moving the complex where statement into a separate part of the report

  • Error running Portlet that uses JSTL

Anyone have any issues running a JSR 168 Portlet in Sun Portal Server that is running on Sun Web Server 7.0 update 2? This same portlet runs fine in the Portlet Driver application running on Glassfish. Seems to be an issue in the servlet/JSP implementation on Sun Web Server.

Try bundling JSTL and Standard jars in the webapp and see whether the issue is resolved.
Else write a simple webapp that uses JSTL and deploy on Sun Web Server 7.0 update 2 and see whether you see the same exception. You can post the issue to WebServer forum.

  • Runtime error - class not found using JDBC driver and thin client

    Hi,
We are running a small Java application on a Sun server which acts as a thin client connecting to an Oracle 8i server running on a different server.
    JDK version: 1.3.1_01
    OS version: Solaris 7
    JDBC classes file: classes12.zip
It compiles fine, but get a runtime error (the DriverManager.registerDriver method )

Any ideas? Probably something very, very stupid I'm overlooking!

    Supplementary question:
    Hi,
We are running a small Java application on a Sun server which acts as a thin client connecting to an Oracle 8i server running on a different server. The Oracle version is 8.1.6
Will the 'classes12.zip' for 8.1.7 work with
1.3.1 of the Java JDK, and Oracle 8i 8.16 ??

  • Using Crystal Reports version 8.5

    Hi,
I am using legaly Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition and Crystal Reports Basic for VS 2008 for software developing and reporting.
My client usees a third party software with reports designed in Crystal Reports 8.5 and I have to create new reports for that application. My client has Crystal Reports 8.5 Runtime installed. I tested, if I install Cristal Reports 2008 Runtime for my new reports, the other reports in 8.5 version is not work correctly. The migration of the existing reports to new version of Crystal Reports is not possible.
        My questions are:
        1. I can legaly use Cristal Reports 8.5 developer software if I have Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008?
        2. If I can, please tell me a link to download Crystal Reports 8.5.
        3. Can I install Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime and Crystal Reports 8.5 Runtime on same computer and all the reports, designed in the two versions of Crystal Reports, to work correctly?
    Thank you!

OK. this post turned out to be longer than I intended, but I hope it clarifies your situation and options.
I am not sure what you mean when you say:
I tested, if I install Cristal Reports 2008 Runtime for my new reports, the other reports in 8.5 version is not work correctly.
But here is a stab at an answer; Reports created in Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008, can not be run by CR 8.5 as the file format is too different and CR 8.5 does not understand it.
Next time, it will be helpful to describe what is happening. Saying "...not work correctly" is pretty lame.
A few things I want to clarify:
I can legally use Crystal Reports 8.5 developer software if I have Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008?
    - Yes, you can. What AG meant to say was that CR 8.5 can not / should not be used in .NET. Not tested, not supported. But you can install CR 8.5 and it will live quite happily side by side with Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008
If I can, please tell me a link to download Crystal Reports 8.5.
    - Not sure what you are asking for. CR 8.5 had to be purchased. As it has been out of support for over 10 years now, you can not purchase it any more.
Can I install Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime and Crystal Reports 8.5 Runtime on same computer and all the reports, designed in the two versions of Crystal Reports, to work correctly?
CR 8.5 and Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008 will work side by side fine. However as I mentioned above, reports created in Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008 will not work with CR 8.5. Reports created in CR 8.5 will work in Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008.
Another point. I notice you say:
    Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime
Very careful there as there is Crystal Reports 2008 (v 12.x) and the runtime would be Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime. There is a version of CR that bundles with VS 2008 (Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008) which as file version of 10.5 and thus a CR 10.5 runtime.
Finally, to what I think you are really after. Correct me if I am wrong:
    1) You have a customer that has a 3rd party app built using CR 8.5
    2) Neither you, not your customer have CR 8.5
    3) You want to build additional reports for the customer
If my interpretation above is correct, then you are probably out of luck. As already mentioned, CR 8.5 is not available for purchase. Versions of CR later than CR 8.5 create rpt file formats that CR 8.5 does not udnerstand.
    Your options:
    1) Create a new app in .NET2008 using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio .NET 2008. You have to use the CR assemblies for .NET and you can use the CR 8.5 reports and any new reports you might want to create.
    2) Call sales (866-681-3435) and see if there is any way you can still purchase CR 8.5. Umm, don't hold your breath, but you never know...
