Error when requesting JSP page

We have just finished getting our environment set up. We are running
WebLogic 4.5.1 sp7 on a Sun server, and are frontending it with IIS 4.0
SP6a using the iisproxy.dll WebLogic plugin.
We can get things working for a while, but eventually, we get the
following error in the NT event log when requesting the first JSP on our
site:
"Out of process application '/LM/W3SVC/1/Root' terminated unexpectedly"
The Web server is still up, it's just when the JSP page is called that
we get "Page can not be displayed" errors. Any HTML pages come up just
fine. To fix the problem, we just stop and restart the Web Publishing
service.
Has anyone seen this error or does anyone know what events cause this
problem?
Thanks,
-Mike

There is a big difference between this;
http://www.mydomain.com/blabla
and this;
http://www.mydomain.com/blah.jsp
blabla - this is the name of the Web application. When you reference this Web application name Tomcat will check the welcom file descriptor and redirect for that web application.
blah.jsp - is the name of a JSP page. When you reference this page the way you did above, you are not stating where the JSP page is located. It would be locatied in the "http://www.mydomain.com/blabla/blah.jsp" location.

  • ""." expected" error when compiling jsp page

    Hi all,
I moved to develop all my applications from IBM WASD to JDeveloper but when I compile the projects in JDev, there's error ""." expected" for nearly all jsp pages. But these jsp pages for sure are working very well since almost of them are in production.
Could you help me to get rid of this.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Gateway Timeout error when running JSP page in 10.1.3 preview

I am unable to run a JSF JSP page with nothing in it but text. I get an error in the browser:
    Gateway Timeout
    The following error occurred:
[code=GATEWAY_TIMEOUT] A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.
    The url is:
    http://82.123.84.247:8988/ListProto2-ViewController-context-root/faces/test.jsp
My laptop uses DHCP and 82.123.84.247 is currently my IP address. If I change the url to use localhost instead of the IP address, the page displays without error. I tried changing Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy to exclude the proxy for 82.123.84.247 (localhost was already excluded), but this didn't help.
I saw a post from a year ago where someone had the same problem with an earlier version of JDev, so I don't think it is specific to the preview release. It must be some kind of setup problem. Unfortunately, no one responded to the other post.

    Hi Vicki,
    Under the main menu, pick:
Tools | Embedded OC4J Server Preferences
and visit the "Startup" panel in that dialog.
For the "Host Name or IP Address Used to Refer to the Embedded OC4J" field, click the (*) Specific Host Name option, and type in "localhost" for the host name.
That usually fixes it for me.

I use JRE v. 1.4.2.What is your JAVA_HOME variable set to?
Do you have a full Java1.4 installation? - ie not just the JRE but the compiler as well?
javac: invalid flag: -sourceThis message would indicate that the -source flag is invalid for javac.
This flag was introduced with java1.4.
Most probably you have a java1.3 installed on the machine confusing tomcat.

  • Out of Memory Error when generating JSP

    Hi,
I have a bit of a problem. I?m trying to generate quite a large JSP file (a table with about 1500 rows). The problem is that I get an out of memory error when the JSP is being generated. And it is definitely that the JSP is too large, or rather the HTML being generated from it. Now I was under the impression that the JSP page was flush now and again, but I tried to set all the different flush options and I have also tried to manually flush the page. Nothing of this made any difference except for displaying a white page instead of an error page since the header was already sent. Now this suggests to me that the page is being cached internally by the server and then sent to the client. So is there anything I can do about this?
    Regards
    Hertz

You are building an HTML table with 1500 rows? That is definitely a lot. And I assume you are also putting some styling on that table...
These days programmers resource to [url en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX]AJAX techniques for things like that.
You can, for example, send the table data as a list of comma separated values, and then use Javascript on the browser to create a partial table with options to browse through the different pages of data.
If you need to show all that data in one single page, you can still try sending just the data as CSV or XML and then building the table on the browser via a Javascript loop. Use CSS for the styling so you don't overload the HTML code with styling information.

  • Error, package does not exist, thrown when calling jsp page

    Hi
I have downloaded sample jsp pages for interaction with Crystal reports. When I compile these jsp pages in NetBeans 3.6 there are no problems. When I deploy these pages and associated libraries to Tomcat 5, I get the following error when attempting to call the jsp page, but all the jars used in NetBeans are present in the web-inf/lib directory and I have looked in the jars and found classes in the com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer package. Thanks Tien-Chih Wang. It worked...well I'm getting a new set of errors, but progress has been made!
I understand that if placed in the common directory the jar will be available to all webapps but why does it make a difference whether a jar file is placed under the $TOMAT_HOME/common/lib or $TOMAT_HOME/webapps/appname/web-inf/lib directory if I only need to access the jar from one webapp?

  • Error message when using JSP pages

    Version 6.0
The error I'm getting is as follows:
trying to POST headerFragment.html, internal-redirect reports: no way to service request for headerFragment.html
All I'm trying to do is a jsp:forward on JSP page 1 to JSP page 2 which, at the top of it, has a jsp:include (the headerFragment.html page mentioned in the error).
Any thoughts on how to remedy this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

By default, the server will not serve static files in response to POST requests, even when using jsp:include.
This bug was addressed in 6.0 SP2, but instances created in an earlier release will continue to exhibit the problem even after upgrading. To fix the problem, locate the following line in the obj.conf configuration file:
Service method=(GET|HEAD) type=*~magnus-internal/* fn=send-fileChange the above line so it reads as follows:
    Service method=(GET|HEAD|POST) type=*~magnus-internal/* fn=send-file

According to the release notes, for the JRCHelperSample to compile, you must set the target runtime for the project.
To do this, either create a project from scratch that uses the Tomcat 5.5 target runtime, or go to the properties menu and ensure that the target runtime is set to the application server you will be using.

  • Error while deploying .jsp page

    Hi all,
I created a single sample jsp page using jdeveloper and moved this jsp file to $OA_HTML. This page will be called from existing apps jsp page through hyperlink. When i click the hyperlink request passed for my jsp page but the following error occured,
"You are not authorized to access ABC.jsp".
What may be the problem. Do we have to register a jsp page. I already bounced the server.
    Thanks,
    Kannan

    Kannan,
seems to be obvious that the directory you are trying to access is security protected. So you need to logon
