Error while inserting XMLType document into table

Dear sir,
I have created a table in oracle 9i.The description is as follows:
Name Null? Type
ID NUMBER
XML_DOCUMENT SYS.XMLTYPE(XMLSchema "http:
//localhost:8080/home/SCOTT/
xsd/message.xsd" Element "me
ssage") STORAGE Object-relat
ional TYPE "MESSAGE_TYPE"
Later I tried to insert values into this table using the following statement:
1 insert into test1(ID,XML_DOCUMENT)
2 VALUES
3 (100,
4 xmltype
5 (
6 bfilename('xmldir','message1.xml'),
7 nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')
8 )
9* )
I get the following error:
ERROR at line 4:
ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'XMLTYPE'.
I have no idea of what to do now.Can someone please tell me how to proceed.
Reference:(this is for the insert command statement)

Thanking you in advance,
Sincerely,
Sirisha.

Yes, but bear in mind that Text searching is not truely XML aware...
Also, a single 65M document is probably not a single docuemnt, it's probably a collection of smaller documents that have been colllected together into a single document. It may make more sense to split this into it's seperate components before loading it into the database...
The typcical signature of document of this nature is

  • How to get ALL validate-errors while insert xml-file into xml_schema_table

    How to get all validate-errors while using insert into xml_schema when having a xml-instance with more then one error inside ?
    Hi,
    I can validate a xml-file by using isSchemaValid() - function to get the validate-status 0 or 1 .
    To get a error-output about the reason I do validate
    the xml-file against xdb-schema, by insert it into schema_table.
    When more than one validate-errors inside the xml-file,
    the exception shows me the first error only.
    How to get all errors at one time ?
    regards
    Norbert
    ... for example like this matter:
    declare
         xmldoc CLOB;
         vStatus varchar
    begin
    -- ... create xmldoc by using DBMS_XMLGEN ...
    -- validate by using insert ( I do not need insert ;-) )
         begin
         -- there is the xml_schema in xdb with defaultTable XML_SCHEMA_DEFAULT_TABLE
         insert into XML_SCHEMA_DEFAULT_TABLE values (xmltype(xmldoc) ) ;
         vStatus := 'XML-Instance is valid ' ;
         exception
         when others then
         -- it's only the first error while parsing the xml-file :
              vStatus := 'Instance is NOT valid: '||sqlerrm ;
              dbms_output.put_line( vStatus );
         end ;
    end ;

    If I am not mistaken, the you probably could google this one while using "Steven Feuerstein Validation" or such. I know I have seen a very decent validation / error handling from Steven about this.

    Hi,
    While releasing SD billing document into Accounting,i am getting the blow error.Please advice me
    Valuation with material cost estimate: error with product "000AA696"
    Message no. KE350
    Diagnosis
    In Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), the system tried to valuate a line item using the current standard cost estimate.
    In order to determine the current plan period, the system needs to read the valuation segment of the material master.
    The system has found that the current plan period is not filled forproduct "000AA696" in plant "OB01".
    Display material (View: Costing)
    The system looked for the material cost estimate using costing key "YG3", as defined in the Customizing settings for CO-PA.
    System Response
    The document cannot be processed.
    Procedure
    Contact your system administrator.
    Thanks
    Sunitha

    Hi Sunitha,
    Please check your settings in KEPC. Check which costing key you have assigned to your plant.  Also check which rule you have set for the costing key. For example if  you have assigned "current standard cost estimate acc. to entry in mat. master" then check here is no current standard cost estimate for material.

    You may have one of a few errors going for you there:
    The error says your column in Oracle is a Long not a CLOB, if it is, then make your column a CLOB.
    CLOB's are not suppored in all environments and/or all interfaces (specifically Windoz ODBC has a problem).
    I believe a DOC (Windoz MS-Word) file is a BLOB, due to formatting characters in the file.
    I had a very similar error using Access and trying to do this, but changing to SAS fixed the problem. It could very well be that your version of ODBC/JDBC drivers does not support it properly.

    Hi. Were you able to fix the error?

  • Error while inserting rows in a table

    Hi,
    We have recently migrated from 9i to 10g. We have a scheduled job out our DB which first deletes all the rows from a table and then inserts them back by selecting rows from 5 tables. This table has a composite primary key based on 6 columns in it. In 9i, when i try to insert rows into the table after deleting all the rows from it, I am able to insert the data successfully . However, in 10g, when i try doing the same operation, it fails with the ORA error:
    ORA-00001: unique constraint violated
    The same query which works perfectly in 9i fails in 10g
    If anybody has some ideas on how to resolve the same, kindly let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I was finally able to resolve the reason behind that error message and found it even more weird. The error was because I was using the substr function for extracting the characters 1-4 from a column which is 5 characters long. When i specify the query as:
    select substr(column1, 1, 4)) from table1;
    only the characters 1-3 are retrieved. Now if i change the query to select substr(column1, 1, 5)) from table1, in that case also only 3 characters are retrieved although i have specified the substr to start from 1 and read till 5 characters. Also, when i run the query:
    select length(substr(column1, 1, 4)) from table1 or select length(substr(column1, 1, 5)) from table1
    I get the answer as 3.
    However, the most amazing part is that the query is working perfectly in 9i and is retrieving the data correctly i.e. from substr 1-4.
    Can anyone suggest what the problem could be?
    Thanks

  • Access denied error while uploading the document into document library which is associated with a content type

    hi,
     am trying to upload a document in a document library which is associated  with content types [ the content type contains 10 site columns and one of them is taxonomy field]. i added this content type in the document library.
    this document library is residing in a team site which is saved as a template and  based on this template i have created sub sites.
    and when i tried to upload a file to the doc lib, it throws me "access denied error".
    what may be went wrong .
    any help is  appreciated!

    Access denied indicates the user account uploading the file doesn't have access to the library, or sometimes it means there's already a document in the library with the same name that was never checked in. It's also possible that your template contains
    custom code that tries to do something that is not allowed.

    My table(OLF_TEST_TBL) Columns:
    EmpID (Number), Ename(VARCHAR2 100), Sal Number, and who columns.
    1. created Application Module (AM).
    package: oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.server
    name: oaf_test_tbl_am
    2. created simple page
    name:EmployeePG
    package:oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.webui
    3. Assigned the Application Module to Page
    4. Created Entity Object(EO)
    name:oaf_test_tbl_eo
    package:oracle.apps.mfg.simplepg.schema.server
    schema:apps
    table:OLF_TEST_TBL
    note:
    1. EMPID column is selected as primary key
    2. selected create method, remove method and validation method.
    3.checked generate default view object
    VO:
    name:olf_test_tbl_vo
    note: Entity Object was assigned to VO
    Coming To page:
    page main region:EmployeeMainRN
    1.under main region i created one more region using wizard
    selected AM and VO, region style-default single column
    2. under main region i created one more region
    region style- pagebuttonbar, ID:pagebutoonsRN
    3. under pagebuttonRN, created two submit buttons(ID:SUBMIT, ID:CANCEL).
    In AM java page:
    created a method to insert row and for commit.
    Insert Method:
    public void insertrow(){
    OAViewObject vo=(OAViewObject)getoaf_test_tbl_vo1();
    if(!vo.isPreparedForExecution()){
    vo.executeQuery();
    Row row=vo.createRow();
    vo.insertRow(row);
    row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    Commit Method:
    public void savaDataTooaftesttable(){
    getDBTransaction().commit();
    In EmployeeMainRN, created a controller.
    In this controller process request method, 'insertrow' method was called.
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAApplicationModule;
    public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    if (!pageContext.isFormSubmission())
    OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    am.invokeMethod("insertrow");
    To commit the transaction when SUBMIT button pressed, commit method was called in process form request method.
    import oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAViewObject;
    public void processformRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    if (pageContext.getParameter("SUBMIT") != null)
    am.invokemethod("savaDataTooaftesttable");
