ErrorHandlerClass between parent-child application JDev 11.1.1.2.0

Hi,
I have One Parent application- which contains a sub application using Adf Lib Jar (Bounded Taskflow) , Now, I want to use ErrorHandlerClass in the sub(child) application, which is specified in DataBindings.cpx which overrides DCErrorHandlerImpl,
If I run the child application on its own, any BC exceptions will be caught by ErrorHandlerClass and everything is fine.
The problem is , if I call a child application within my parent application, it does not pick up my ErrorHandlerClass and not able to handle any exception
any ideas?
Thanks,

I had to restart my project from scratch to make it work again, I dunno what happened

• How to Differentiate between Parent & child item of material determination

Hi Experts
I have a list of material & the Business requirement is to found that whether a material is a Parent material , Child material or Both ( a parent to other children and a child to another parent).
I tried using table KONDD & KONDDP but I was not able to differeniate between Parent & Child item.
I even cant use item category to diferentaite the two as by item categairy i can only find that it is a Prent material but cant find whether this material is a Child material or not.
Is there any table in which i can enter the Parent material & the output would be child material or any other table which contain both parent & child material.
Note : In Material determination ( VB11) , the material which is entered is Parent material & the material with which it would be replaced is Child material.
Kindly Guide.
Thanks in Advance

Hi
The wording of Parent and Child sounds like using a BOM material. In material determination...these two items can be called as Material entered and material determined or Main Item and Sub Item.
In the sales order overview screen...at line item level check the field 'HLvItem' (Higher Level Item). It will show the POSNR of the main item to which this item is linked. Since this can also happen in the case of free goods and BOM...you have make another check for these items with the item category.
If the substitue material is not determined as a sub item... you can check the material number in the field 'Material Entered' in the sales tab of the item and compare the material number with that exists in the VBAP-MATNR. If both are different, then this material can be considered as a determined material.
Thanks,
Ravi

• Different visualization between parent-child dimension (obiee 11g)

Hi!
I have an assignment to do:
In my dashboard I have a table with some entities on rows.
There are some entities that I can drill-down but another entities not.
If I click on column properties (Interaction->Primary Interaction (Default Drill) I see ALL of my rows with blue colour letter and when I rollover mouse in each entity I see entity underline.
My requirement is only see blue colour letter and see underline entity when rollover mouse ONLY in entities that I can drill-down. The other entities do not want them to be navigable and see with black colour letter without navigation.
This is an example that I want:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/265/entity.jpg/
In this example there are two entities that we can't to drill-down : 0388ATC and 0388 so is in black colour
Other entities can drill-down and in this image mouse is on entity 0388BACK so is underline...
Is possible to get this?

This solution doesn't work for me...
So... My report looks like:
STEP1 : I would see in my dashboard next report
Entity1 CAN'T drill (black letter)
Entity2 CAN'T drill (black letter)
Entity3 (can drill because have childs) (blue letter and can drill)
Entity4 (can drill because have childs) (blue letter and can drill)
STEP2:
If I click on Entity3 I see childs of Entity3 (drill in place-->section option)
Now I would see childs of Entity3 and I want to apply same logical:
Entity3 - Child1 CAN'T drill (black letter)
Entity3 - Child2 (can drill because have childs) (blue letter and can drill)
Entity3 - Child3 CAN'T drill (black letter)
So...I can't do a child report...so I would have a lot of child reports (each for one element that I can drill...)

• Parent-Child Apps and Classloading...Wrong load order?

Ah, everyone's favourite two oracle topics slammed into one. I've been using Oracle's parent-child application deployment for some time, to reasonable success in Oracle App Server 9.0.4. Though screwing about with the classloaders in this way usually fills me with dread, the benefits of developing child apps in isolation from the parent are excellent.
In general I have always deployed in the following way:
server.xml
<application name="msip-app" path="../applications/msip-app.ear" parent="default" start="true" />
<application name="msip-services" path="../applications/msip-services.ear" parent="msip-app" start="true" />
default-web-site.xml
<web-app application="msip-app" name="msip-web" load-on-startup="true" root="/msip" />
<web-app application="msip-services" name="msip-services" load-on-startup="true" root="/msip-ws" />
orion-application.xml (parent app)
<library path="./msip-web/WEB-INF/classes" />
<library path="./msip-web/WEB-INF/lib" />
(Note: this generic approach has always worked...)
Now I am trying to upgrade to oc4j 10.1.3.x, and I seem to be trapped in configuration hell. OC4J now appears to load the child application first, which inevitably screws up the classloader for the parent app. Surely this doesn't make any sense, as the parent app is the dependency and should be started first?!
I haven't discovered any way to control the load order for apps in the config files; the only workaround is to set the load-on-startup for the child app to "false". This is fine, until I redeploy through Oracle EM, which switches load-on-startup back to true. Again, there doesn't seem to be any way in deployment to control this parameter!
Why in the heck would oc4j have changed it's load priority for parent child apps? Is there any way to force load order through config? Am I just crazy and no one else has seen this?
Help.

Thanks for the reply. Gave that a look, but unfortunately, that link concerns a problem at a lower level than the one I've encountered. A classloading problem alerted me to what I believe is a bigger issue, namely that oc4j appear to be launching my child app before the parent app, and this consistently screws up the initialisation phases for both ear files. This appears to be an explicit decision in the Oracle app loader about which war file (parent or child) to launch first, but for the life of me, I can't find the offending code by decompiling oc4j.
If it turns out that this intentional, surely this must be a mistake? The parent app is the dependency and must be loaded first! or I missing something big...

• Parent-Child Relationship between app

Hi,
I am trying to deploy 2 applications, which needs to have a parent-child relationship between them.
One option is i should driectly change server.xml, and put parent tag in this Xml file and restart the container.
Another option is i can use my Ant Target to invoke command line argument which uses admin.jar and which has parent attribute... so when i give the command to put parent-child relationship, the container gives the message that app2 has parent app1 but actually it doesnt put the required tag in server.xml and nor does it put the relationship in place.
So any workaround for this... how can i put that relationship in place without modifying server.xml.
We are running 9ias 9.0.2.3 on True64
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Has anyone done sumthing like this before... even after trying everything i am still not able to do parent- child relationship between applications.
Thanks & Regards

• Does table STPOX contain parent-child relationship between components

Hello
I need to get a list of components of SO BOM.
FM CS_BOM_EXPL_KND_V1 exports an output table STPOX.
Does this table contain parent-child relationship between components? If yes , can somebody tell me which fields contain parent child id.
thanks

Hi,
STPOX is not a table, it is a structure & hence there is no storing of data in a structure. The table which stores this info is STPO.
To get the link you can refer to STPO-STLNR & pass this value to MAST-STLNR, this way you can link the child with its parent.

• Parent-child relation between Activities

Hello,
Is it possible to give parent child relationship between Activities within single Project? The requirement is, parent Activity to take part in overall scheduling whereas the Dates for parent Activity are determined by the child Activities attached to it.
Thank you,
Hemant

Hi,
In PS we can map through the network activity and activity elemnents. For scheduling the projects the start date and end date of all the activity elements are included in the respective network activity. for better understanding refer the following link.

• Parent Child Relationships between Drop Down Menus

I have a request for additional functionality. Parent child relationships between drop down lists.
for example,
the first dropdown, could contain North, South, East, West & assign values of 1, 2, 3, 4.
the second dropdown, could contain a filtered set of data depending on the option from the first dropdown,
so the data could look like this in the second drop down:
Manchester 1
Leeds 1
London 2
Southampton 2
Norfolk 3
Newquay 4
so if I select North in the first dropdown, the second drop down would contain all the items with a value of 1, so Manchester & Leeds.
I have managed to get round this using conditional show & hide, but it is much messier on the design screen & also the way in which the data
will be returned is very very messy - seems like a simple addition which would improve the functionality no end.

Hi,
We have an "ideas" page where you can see if others have added this already, I believe there are some similar, and you can add your vote. If you don't find something that fits you can add your idea here:

Hi Nikki
Create structure and restrict parent hierarchy with one node and child hierarchy with another node and create formula node to calculate the percentage variance between two nodes.assign points if helpfful.

• Incorrect query forms in parent child relation

Hello
I am using jdev of RUP3 (Release 4) which is 11.1.1.6.2 and have following scenario
I have a ParentVO (ProfileVO) and a child VO(CreditReceiversVO) (child VO is basically extended from another VO not in this application and included as a jar library).
There a VL between ParentVO and ChildVO 1:* with two attributes ord_id and rule_id
On UI these two VO instances are dropped as parent child and I get exception on running page in logs saying RuleAssignementEO.ORG_ID invalid identifier.
Looking into the query formed by BC4J I see it as below which is clearly wrong as the alias RuleAssignmentEO is not visible for the outermost where clause. Please advise

invalid identifier means ,it representating that field currently not available in db-table.
so please refer db-table. whether field avialable or not?.
edited lately:
djbo.debugoutput=console did you use this :) it will say the query is send to server.

• Why in case of parent child relation iterator fetching one duplicate record

Hi,
JDev Ver : 11.1.1.2.0
Technology : JPA/TopLik Service Facade Data Control (Without using BC4J)
I have created JPA/TopLink service facade from DB Tables and on facades I have crated DataControl which I have draged and droped on my screen to create input text, table etc.
In my application, I have many tables having one to many relationships. (Primarykey foreign key).
When I add more then one child columns (foreign key columns) for any one parent column (primary key column), in db its getting inserted properly but in iterator after refreshing also it showing one duplicate entry instead of actual entry.
e.g.
For one Account Id 1234 (primary key) , I am adding 3 account holders name (abc, xyz, pqr) in this case in db its inserting proper 3 entries but in iterator its showing
1234 abc
1234 xyz
1234 abc
so instead of pqr its again showing abc.
To select account holders name I have used selectManyShuttle components.
I have also tried tried dciter.refresh(DCIteratorBinding.RANGESIZE_UNLIMITED); to refresh iterator.
This is generic problem on most of the screen in my application where parent child relation comes.
regards,
devang

• Parent/Child "itemkey"

I have a parent/child relatonship between 2 tables. Both tables have dataless keys (both just populated by different sequence numbers starting at 1). I want to create Parent and Child processes (in the same workflow itemtype) to represent the records in the application tables.
What should the "itemkey" be for the child process? (I can't have the same "itemkey" as the parent record).
-- using the Oracle demo Survey workflow names:
begin
-- PK of parent record=1
wf_engine.CreateProcess(ItemType => 'WFSURV',
ItemKey => to_char(1),
process => 'SURVEY2');
-- PK of child record=1
wf_engine.CreateProcess(ItemType => 'WFSURV',
ItemKey => to_char(1),
process => 'CHILDSURVEY');
end;
ORA-20002: 3122: Duplicate item 'WFSURV/1' could not be created.
ORA-06512: at "OWF_MGR.WF_ENGINE", line 3000
ORA-06512: at line 5
Can I build up my child "itemkey" by having {PK of parentrec}||'-'||{PK of childrec} to ensure that it wont conflict with the "itemkey" for the parentprocess?
e.g.
begin
wf_engine.CreateProcess(ItemType => 'WFSURV',
ItemKey => to_char(1),
process => 'SURVEY2');
wf_engine.CreateProcess(ItemType => 'WFSURV',
ItemKey => to_char(1)||'-'||to_char(1),
process => 'CHILDSURVEY');
end;
I'd like to implement this as cleanly as possible. Any suggestions welcome.

You could just prefix each item key with the process name or some other distinguishing string -
'SURVEY2:' || {PK of parent table}
'CHILDSURVEY:' || (PK of child table)
or
'P' || {PK of parent table}
'C' || (PK of child table)

• Parent child tables - how to maintain RI

Here is my scenario:
In our model, we have parent child relationship between tables.
We are not sure how the parent tables are populated. If incremental update, it should be fine (assuming if needed rows will be inserted in the child table manually). If the tables are truncated and data is inserted again – that might be a problem since there exist relationship with child tables. What are the various options for handling such cases?
Option1: cascade delete
Option 2: ...?

I'm not sure I understand the goal here...
- Are you trying to design a data model? If so, wouldn't the business and data requirements tell you whether you need to truncate and reload the parent table or whether you can do an incremental load? It wouldn't seem to make sense to design a data model with no understanding of how the model is going to be used.
- Are you trying to design a load process that works with an existing data model? If so, are you trying to design an incremental load? Or a load that involves a truncate and reload? Does the existing data model have foreign key constraints?
Specifying the Oracle version and a bit of information about the application (i.e. is this an OLTP application, a data warehouse, something else) would probably also be helpful.

• Color of parent/child lines in JTree

Hi,
i am using a JTree with a custom CellRenderer. This works quite ok but i also want to change the color from the fine lines between parent and child nodes. Right now they are in the typical "SUN" color but cause of my background i need them to be black.
node
|
|--- child1
|
|--- child2
I mean the lines which i just drawn in ASCII Art, really dont know the english word for it.
Thx

i am not weird, i am replying to myself, because perhaps someone might need it afterwards.
you can change the color of the lines between nodes in JTree, therefore you must go the UIManager way:
UIManager.put("Tree.hash", new ColorUIResource(Color.lightGray));
This changes all Trees in your application. You can do similar changes on instance basis:
myJTree.putClientProperty("JTree.lineStyle", "Angled");
but i havnt figured out why i cant do this for the "Tree.hash" key on instance basis but anyway. Its ok now...

• Multi parent child in a AppModuleDataControl

(using the following tutorial as an example: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37547_01/tutorials/tut_rich_app/tut_rich_app_2.html)
Is it something that is possible?
Thanks in advance

User, please tell us your jdev version.
Yes, this is possible. Where do you see a problem? If your data mode has this kind of relationship you can build it (or if the foreign keys are setup in the db you get it automatically). a sample up to lever 3: JDeveloper & ADF: Multiple Cascading Tables | JDev & ADF Goodies
