ESB vs PI

Hi all,
I Know ESB as a message broker and acts as highways to carry messages.Even XI/PI also does the same where exactly the difference lies ?,wht makes ESB makes it different from Middleware(if ESB is not a middleware) ?

Error while invoking ESB process from a BPEL process

Hi all
We have a requirement to call an ESB process from a BPEL process. We are using an adapter wth the ESB's WSDL url. After deploying the BPEL process, the registered ESB is getting called for most values while suddenly some values return the followign error
*"exception on JaxRpc invoke: HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Message send failed: Connection reset"*
The catch here is, if we re-run the process with the same values again, the ESB is called successfully! How is it possible for a process to error out and run normally for the same inputs ?
What could be the possible fix for this? I am thankful for any inputs on this.

Error while testing a web service using JMSAdapter in ESB

It happens when server is custom installed, try to reinstall it as full version and problem should disappear otherwise your need another full installation to retrieve and replace orabpel.jar file from (or maybe more)

Unable execute a BPEL process calling esb db outbound service

getting the following error while invoking an esb db service from a synchronous bpel process

When I get this error, nothing shows up in the instance screen.
Also, I had to configure the partner link using the wsdl provided in definitions tab in the esb console (since the service explorer in jdev throws an exception: service not found". So, i did cut and paste only and it parsed perfectly. i am using the concrete url available in the definitions tab in esb console.
And what wud u mean by esb rt endpoint?

I am still tryig to figure out the cause of the problem here.

- created a new esb project
- created a new esb system
- created a db adaptor service with a simple select from a db table (The db table has only one record and one column)
- created a routing service for the same, with no routing rules or transformations
- registered the same with the esb server
- created a new synchronous bpel process
- created a partner link (using concrete wsdl available in the definitions tab in esb control)
- assigned the input and output variable to the partner link.
- deployed the bpel process
- initiated a new instance of the same from the bpel console

Error while calling a procedure from ESB

Hi,
I am calling a procedure from ESB using DB adapter. and in the routing rules i am mapping the i/p values for schema to procedure input variables using mappings(transformation) but the values are going as null to the procedure call.
Please help me out.

This is likely being caused by a problem that we've seen a number of times. You'll have namespace issues and problems with NULLs if your JDev is 10.1.3.1 and SOA is 10.1.3.3 (or vice-versa). You MUST synchronize JDev 10.1.3.3 (or higher) with SOA 10.1.3.3 (or higher). It doesn't matter if you mix 10.1.3.3 and 10.1.3.4. You just need to get away from 10.1.3.1.

Getting filename in FTP Adapter in ESB

I am trying to get the filename on an inbound FTP adapter in an ESB. I've followed the directions I have found, by following these steps:
1. The namespace xmlns:ehdr="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/oracle.tip.esb.server.headers.ESBHeaderFunctions" is automatically generated in the xsl file.
2. Create a variable in the xsl file, with value ehdr:getRequestHeader('/fhdr:InboundFileHeaderType/fhdr:fileName','fhdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/file/;'). Let's give it the name INFILENAME.
3. Reference the variable in some expression in the xsl file: $INFILENAME
4.Set UseHeaders="true" in the FTP inbound wsdl file
When I do this in a file adapter, I can use the value. When I do this in an ftp adapter, no value comes back.

Yes, that did it, thanks. I had a typo:
getRequestHeader('/fhdr:InboundFtpHeaderType/fhdr:fileName,'fhdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/ftp/;')
which should have had "FTP" in upper case. The correct code is as you stated:
getRequestHeader('/fhdr:InboundFTPHeaderType/fhdr:fileName,'fhdr=http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/ftp/;')

PI 7.11 ESB Issue

Hi all,
I have a got a problem with opening Enterprise Services Builder, I'm able to Open ESB of PI Development system and got a problem with PI Quality system. I don't think this is the problem with Java.
I'm getting the below error after i entered User name and Password of ESB
Could not Initialize class com.sap.aii.ibrep.gui.xiitem.InternalXiItemServiceForTypeObjects
Internal problem occured(INTERNAL_PROBLEM)
Please help me in resolving this issue.

Hi Kishore.
This issue seems to be that your XI components are not in the same SP level.
Go to:
http://<server>:<port>/
-> System Information
-> Component Info
-> "Software Components" section.
Can you please confirm here that all of the components are on the same
SP level? (SAP_XIAF, SAP-XIAFC, SAP_XITOOL, SAP_XIESR, MESSAGING,
and SAP_XIGUI)
They should be, for example, all like 7.11.4, in which the "4" is the SP level.
Fix that and you'll be able to logon to ESB again

PI 7.11 ESB hangs on startup

Hi Gurus
Would love your help with this one!
We have a PI 7.11 SP4 landscape and a particular user cannot launch the QA server's Enterprise Services Builder. She used to be able to, but now when she clicks on the link, she gets the login prompt, enters her details and then an "ESB process" appears on the Windows taskbar. This process can't be maximized or right-clicked on to do anything useful.
The weird thing is, if she tries to launch the Integration Builder from the same server, it works. If I try to launch the ESB, logging in as me or XISUPER, on her PC, it also works. If she tries to launch the ESB from any other server than the QA server, it also works! Nobody else has a problem, so I assume the server is correct and, since she can use ESB elsewhere, that the Java installation on her PC is fine.
I guess there's a cache or lock somewhere that I need to clear out, but where? I've bounced the server, refreshed all the caches I can think of and deleted the adapter engine cache, but no luck.
The PC's we're using are Vista ones and the backend PI server is RHEL Linux if that matters. Java runtime on Vista is 1.6 but there is also 1.4 installed.

Doh.
It was a windows problem. The ESR was launching but I needed to do the "alt-SPACEBAR-X" trick in order to see the window.
No idea what happened there, but it's fixed now.

OA Adapter not triggering in ESB but if the service is in BPEL its triggere

Splitting Message in ESB

Hi All ,
I am facing a problem with spliiting message in ESB via transformation.I have this process which starts by
1. Polls for details from a single table for all customers .The polling is a logical delete on a status column only.
2.This message is then enqueued into a queue .
3. The schema used to enqueue data is same as that which is used by customer web service. This xsd has a header with customer name and date etc and a repeating detail area with all details coming from the table.
4.There is a routing rule before enqueue to map all rows coming from table to the target schema.mapping to customer at header is only once and the rest rows coming from table to detail.
5.And on the other side on consumption of the message using routing rule we deicde for which customer the data is using filter expression on header and accordingly send the message by calling customer specific webservice .There are four customers.
But when multiple customer's data comes in the table at same time,we would have a problem as all customer details get into a single message with the first row customer name in header .
Can we split the records in the message coming from polling based on customer name in header and into 4 differnt message and then enqueue the data ? Will it be possible to have multiple messages enqueued using a single AQ adpater configuration?

The incoming message in my requirement an xml is debatched into no of xmls and is written to a FTP location thro a FTP Adapter.
Another FTP Adapter reads each file and invokes the AQ ADapter.
Is there any better way to get this done.

I've figured out what went wrong through debugging the proxy-classes of the esb-service.
You need to define an input-value for each attribute of which your object is constituted. After I've initialized each variable in the object, which is the input-parameter of my esb proxy, everything works fine.

Look up ESB Cross-Reference within ODI

We have a need to look up ESB cross reference table that is populated by AIA PIPs. I saw ESB Cross-Reference KM mentioned in "Oracle Data Integrator Knowledge Modules Reference Guides 10.1.3". My question is that can this KM be used to do ESB cross reference table look up. We don't need to populate xref table, just need to look up.

I can able to reterive unmatched records by using “Left outer join” but it will multiple the record counts for “matching condition”.
