Escape a colon character

I have created a link from one report to another. I want to set the value of an item in my target page (a text box). Problem is the values being derived from the first reports query contain colons(:) and commas (,)
for example I want to set the text field to a value like: 354S::G1:GR(Sulf), KO_G, Col_Wt
Is there a way to escape these characters?

Hi,
You can not escape colons but you can pass commas in the url. Enclose the item value in \item_value\ to escape the "," in the item value . For colons, I would suggest creating a hidden field in the source report with SQL REPLACE function and replace all the colons with any other character like ||. Then you can use the same replace function on the target page to match with the new item value.
Hope it helps. Thanks.

    Use two single quotes inside your literals to represent one single quote.
    For example, this would find my name:
    SELECT *
      FROM emp
    WHERE name = 'Michael O''Neill';
    Michael O'Neill

  • Firefox for Android: cannot locate server and the URL trying to reach includes a colon character

    Trying to reach a URL like this: http://myserver123:1009/home.aspx
    I've already disabled the firefox adding the "www" and ".com" to the URL which was definitely an issue originally, but it still does not resolve properly.
    The error page says:
    "Server not found. Firefox cannot find the server at myserver123"
    It seems Firefox is stopping at the colon character in the URL, thus not resolving to the page.
    Any ideas on how to fix?

    Hi LI_NY_1
    On my Nexus 6, running Lollipop and FF 37.0.1 I have no problem reaching urls like:
    http://rt-mba11:8080/index.html
    Are you sure you have your webserver for myserver123 configured correctly?
    If you could give me the URL of your webserver I can try to see if I can reproduce this problem; my guess is this is a webserver config issue and not a Firefox for Android issue but of course I could be wrong!
    Cheers!

  • IR Report "Link" Attibute Custom URL Escape : (colon) Character

    <h2>I am running Apex 4.0.2 and have an interactive report page 242 with a result set.</h2>
    Scenario
    In the "Report Attributes" "Link" settings I want to link the report to a 'Custom URL' target to take the user from this IR Report Page 242 to page 243 to a 'Single Record Data Entry Form'
    I am setting the value of the custom url target as:
    f?p=&APP_ID.:243:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:243:P243_NAME,P243_DESCRIPTION,P243_LOCATION:#SOURCE_NAME#,#DESCRIPTION#,#LOCATION#:The P243_LOCATION column, however, has a ':' colon and a '.' values in the database column itself with a value of *'jdbc:Host123.abcd'*
    When the user clicks on the link the FULL location column is truncated before the ':' - OBVIOUSLY due to ':' being the paremeter separator column in apex
    So, the #LOCATION# value on Page 242 IR Report containing a value of *'jdbc:Host123.abcd'* is trunced on the called page 243 as 'jdbc' only and truncated prior to the ':' value contained in the field.
    Question:
    HOW Can I build the above URL so that the ':' can be visible on the Page 243 form field? with the full value passed into the called page with a value of: *'jdbc:Host123.abcd'* ?
    I tried the SYS.htf_esc(#LOCATION#) around the calling URL above, but doesn't work as expected.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Escaping the pipe (|) character in java

    Hi,
    I am trying to run the following command in java
    ps -ef -o pid,args | grep init | grep -v grep
    The code is
           try {
                    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
                    Process pr = rt.exec("ps -ef -o pid,args \\| grep init \\| grep -v grep ");
                    BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(pr.getInputStream()));
                    String line=null;
                    while((line=input.readLine()) != null) {
                        System.out.println(line);
                    int exitVal = pr.waitFor();
                    System.out.println("Exited with error code "+exitVal);*/
                } catch(Exception e) {
                    System.out.println(e.toString());
                    e.printStackTrace();
                }I am not able to run this command in Java. And, I guess the problem lies in escaping the pipe symbol. I am not sure how to do that. Can anyone please help me on that?
    Thanks,
    Juggie

    The problem is not escaping; it's that the pipe character is interpreted by the shell. You should be passing that command line to the shell, e.g. "sh ps -ef -o pid,args | grep ..."

  • Escaping the scan character for insert

    I wanted to do something like this in Lotus Notes:
    create table test(val varchar2(10));
    Create or replace procedure test1 AS
    begin
    insert into test values ('A& B');
    end;
    That is inserting the scan character '&'
    as part of the string

    Notes string vsql='A& B';
    Any suggestion?
    Thanx

    Use a leading backslash. The \" escapes a quote.

  • Using html in cf report builder and escaping the & ampersand character

    Some of the data we collect is entered via a WYSIWYG editor.  Therefore formatting such as bold, italic etc is translated into HTML.
    The text could also contain special characters/accented characters, again these are translated into their html equivalents.
    In CF Report Builder, I have set the XHTML Text formatting to TRUE.  However the report won't render the text in these boxes.  From what I can see it doesn't like the '&' character (ampersand).
    I have read elsewhere that report builder is limited in the characters etc that it can read and that I should translate the values.  I ended up doing this in the database to try and save some time.

    You could try having a keypress action listener. If the user presses a key that you don't want to show, the action listener can handle the event.

    The comment characters ("/*" and "*/") shouldn't need to be escaped within the context of a String value; is it the compiler that is having trouble with the value, or the database? What error messages are you receiving?

  • Query of Queries (QofQ) Escaped Character Problem

    Hello All,
    I'm trying to run a query or queires (QofQ) and I'm doing a
    LIKE comparison that looks for bracket characters ([ ]) within a
    string, however ColdFusion is ignoring the brackets. How can I
    escape the bracket character? So far I have only been able to
    escape the percent sign based on the ColdFusion Live Docs. The
    error message I get when I run the query below is:
    Invalid Escape Sequence. Valid sequence pairs for this escape
    character are: "\%", or "\_".
    Here is the query:
    <cfquery dbtype="query" name="getLogs">
    SELECT *
    FROM GetLogs
    WHERE Description LIKE '%\[User:#UserID#\]%' ESCAPE '\'
    </cfquery>
    Thanks for your help!

    You are correct. If you leave the brackets in the LIKE
    statement, it will return results as if the brackets weren't there
    at all.
    Perhaps I need to figure out the ASCII character value of the
    bracket and include it that way i.e. #Char(?)# where the question
    mark would be the numerical value of that character.
    My temporary solution has been to leave off the starting
    bracket:
    <cfquery dbtype="query" name="getLogs">
    SELECT *
    FROM GetLogs
    WHERE Description LIKE '%user:#UserID#]%'
    </cfquery>
    This has (so far) returned the results i'm looking for
    although its not as 100% accurate without that beginning [ in the
    LIKE statement.

  • Invalid app name (illegal character)

    Hi all,
    My latest app has a colon punctuation character ":" in the name.  This is the name I'd like to display under the icon on iOS.
    However, when testing on the device i get 'Package inspectuion failed' if the applicaton.xml <name> contains the colon character.
    Can anyone verify that the colon is not allowed in the app display name - or if it is, do I need to encode it (e.g. URL encode) in the name?
    Cheers,
    Peter

    SOLVED: Both the <name> and the <initialWindow> <title> can contain the colon character, without escaping.
    The 'Package inspection failed' was due to another (random) reason and was solved by restarting the device.
