Event handlers from clock time
I would like to base some event handlers on clock times on a 24 hour schedule... is this possible?
Hi,
This should do the trick.
var t:Timer;
var currentTime:Date= new Date;
var requiredTime:Date = new Date(2010,04,25,19,53,0);// Give the time you would like to give
var delayTime:Number= requiredTime.time - currentTime.time;
t=new Timer(delayTime);
t.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,onTimer);
t.start();
The event listener should be like this:-
function onTimer(event:TimerEvent):void
//Necessary handling code
Hope this helps

Do I need to worry about these event handlers in a grid from a memory leak perspective?
I'm pretty new to Flex and coudn't figure out how to add event handlers to inline item renderer components from the containing file script so I attached the listnerers simply as part of the components themselves (eg <mx:Checkbox ... chnage="outerDocument.doSomething(event)"../>):
<mx:DataGrid id="targetsGrid" width="100%" height="100%" doubleClickEnabled="true" styleName="itemCell"
headerStyleName="headerRow" dataProvider="{targets}"
rowHeight="19" fontSize="11" paddingBottom="0" paddingTop="1">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn width="78" dataField="@isSelected" headerText="">
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:HBox width="100%" height="100%" horizontalAlign="center">
<mx:CheckBox id="targetCheckBox" selected="{data.@isSelected == 'true'}"
change="outerDocument.checkChangeHandler(event);"/>
<mx:Image horizontalAlign="center" toolTip="Delete" source="@Embed('/assets/icons/delete.png')" useHandCursor="true" buttonMode="true"
click="outerDocument.deleteHandler(event);"/>
<mx:Image id="editButton" horizontalAlign="center" toolTip="Edit" source="@Embed('/assets/icons/edit-icon.png')" useHandCursor="true" buttonMode="true"
click="outerDocument.editHandler(event);"/>
</mx:HBox>
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:DataGridColumn>
<mx:DataGridColumn id="Name" dataField="@collectionDesc" headerText="Name" itemRenderer="com.foobar.integrated.media.ui.component.CellStyleForTargetName"/>
<mx:DataGridColumn id="Created" width="140" dataField="@createDateTime" headerText="Created" labelFunction="UiHelper.gridDateFormat" />
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
This grid is part of a view that will get destroyed and recreated potentially many times during a user's session within the application (there's a large dynamic nature to the app and views are created at run-time.) By destroyed I mean that the view that holds the above datagrid will no longer be referenced under certain circumstances and an entire new view object is created (meaning the old datagrid is no longer refernced and a new one is created.)
I heard you should clean up event handlers when they are no longer used, and I know at what point the view is destroyed, but I don't know how to clean up the event handlers added to the item renderer components? Is it something that the Flex garbage collector will handle efficiently?
Also, on a somewhat related note, how could I push the item renderer to an external component since in my event handlers for the item renderer buttons I need a reference to the datagrid.selectedIndex which, as an external item renderer I wouldn't have access to this containing grid?No. You don't need explicit cleanup in this case: if your outerDocument is going away, you have nothing to worry about. The event handler leak can happen in sort of the reverse situation: suppose you have a long-lived MyView that contains a custom DataGrid like the one below. Now suppose that MyView frequently destroys and re-creates the grid. And suppose that on its creationComplete event, the grid registers a listener for outerDocument's (MyView's) enterFrame Event. Unless you explicitly remove this listener, MyView will still have a reference to it even after the grid that registered the listener is destroyed (and garbage collected).
This is a pretty contrived example, but it sort of illustrates the potential for leaks: a certain component is elligible for garbage collection, but some longer-lived component holds a reference to it (or part of it, such as a listener function). If the longer-lived component is elligible for GC as well, you don't really need to worry about proper cleanup. That's what you're paying the GC processor cycles for. -
Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book. Cannot turn these off. They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used. How to diagnose this?
First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -

Restore an individual iphoto event from a time machine backup!
Can you restore an individual iphoto event from a time machine backup or do you have to restore an entire library?
Whilst deleting some old photos from my library i seem to have accidentally deleted an entire event of photos. I regularly backup my iMac using TIme Machine, so was hoping that i could restore this one event. Is this possible and if so how do you do it?
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksGreetings Martyn,
You can restore events from TimeMachine if you like. Read here.
Rather than clicking on individual pictures, you click on "Events", highlight the events you want, and then click restore.
Hope that helps. -

How to expose and code the event handlers of a base class?
I have created a class that inherits NumericUpDown. When I instantiate an object from that class, I can make it visible and have it appear on my form just like any other NUD. How can I get that instantiated object to expose the event handlers of its base
class, the NUD in this case, so that, for example, I can tell the client what action to take when the value of the instantiated object changes?
Thanks for your help.I am not sure exactly what you mean. Are you adding your NUD controls to the Form at design time from the toolbox or adding them in code at run time? If you are adding them to the form from the toolbox then you access the events the same way
you would a standart NUD control. If it is at runtime and you have a fixed amount of them you are going to add then you can declare them Class Scoped using the
WithEvents keyword which will let you access all their events.
Public Class Form1
Private WithEvents Nud1 As New NUD
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Me.Controls.Add(Nud1)
End Sub
Private Sub Nud1_ValueChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Nud1.ValueChanged
Me.Text = Nud1.Value.ToString
End Sub
End Class
Public Class NUD
Inherits NumericUpDown
'Your custom code to make it work how you want...
End Class
If this is not what you are doing then you may need to explain a bit more and show the code you are using so we understand better.

Event Handlers and Callbacks: Best way to handle?
I'm writing an actionscript class. I'm wondering how to deal
with call backs and event handlers within my class. In particular,
I'm wondering how I might structure my class so that developers
using it can choose which arguments get passed to the callback
function as they code. I've been googling and haven't found any
particularly useful information on this.
As far as I can tell, it would appear that the parameters
passed to any callback function are determined at the time I write
my class as this anonymous function example illustrates.
var myObj:Object = new MyClass('foo', 'bar');
myObj.onLoad = function(arg) {
// the args passed to this anonymous function are dictated
by the actionscript defnining MyClass
I have also seen an approach using named functions and a
class method for setting the event handler which allows a developer
to pass some object to be used for scoping the named function but
this also results in the parameters for the callback being
predetermined by the actionscript that defines the class
function myLoad(arg) {
// the args passed to this function are also dictated by the
actionscript defining MyClass
var myObj:Object = new MyClass('foo', 'bar');
myObj.setOnLoadHandler(this, 'myLoad');
As far as I can tell, neither approach would let a developer
specify any parameters for the callback functions (onLoad() in the
first example, myLoad() in the second example). Which of these
approaches is considered 'best practice'? Also, what would I do if
I wanted to specify that the callback should operate on a
particular movieclip on my timeline? How can I pass that
movieclip's parameter to the callback function?You can download the Library from this link. Inside is an example that shows how to handle windows messages/events.

Hello Friends;
I have a problem with event handlers. I have defined events for double_click, data_change and hotspot_click. At first run of the program everything runs fine but when I make a change at the screen (like pressing Enter or entering a value at a screen field) the handlers seem to be called a couple of times. For example at a hotspot click I call an accounting document display and when I want to return with back button the program seems to be stuck at document display. Actually it calls event handler over and over again. How can I solve this problem? Can refreshing grid be a solution?
Thx in advance
AliHello Ali
The problem is that after handling the hotspot event the current cell is still on the field with the hotspot. Thus, when you push ENTER the ALV grid checks the current cell which has a hotspot defined which, in turn, raises event HOTSPOT_CLICK.
Therefore, you have to move the current cell to another cell that has no hotspot defined. Have a look at the implementation of the event handler method. The hotspot is on field KUNNR. After calling transaction XD03 I shift the current cell to field BUKRS.
If you comment these lines you will see the same behaviour of the report as you described.

Time valuation with and without clock times --- Plzz help
hi experts
Please help me by explaining the following.
1) Please explain me the differnces between time valuation with
clock times(T555Z) and time evluation without clock time(T555Y).
2) Please explain the differences in time types and processing types and functions procedure used in time evaluation with clock time and in time evaluation with out clock times.
3) What is the major differences in the schema between time evaluation with clock times and with out clock time?
Thanx in advance for help and Points will be rewarded in full.
regards,WITH CLOCK TIME
It processes time data that has been imported to the SAP system from time recording subsystems and data that has been recorded online. Those time events (in/out timing) will be stored in 2011 which will be used in schema processing.
Without clock time
to evaluate the time data of employees who enter only exceptions to the work schedule. Processing in this component assumes that times are expressed as the duration of work, and not the start and end times of work times and employee absences
Clock times are not required for evaluation of time data
T555y is used for processing work times (function Types)
T555z is used for breaks processing in time schemas (function Types)
2. NO difference in the way they are used
3. Schema TM00 (clock times) is a standard schema, used to evaluate employee time data that has been recorded at time recording terminals and that specifies clock times.
Schema TM01 is a standard schema used to evaluate the time data of employees for whom only deviations from the work schedule are recorded. -
How to remove event handlers for a content type currently in use?
Hi,
We had a SP 2007 solution that managed event handlers as described in
Brian Wilson's blog regarding event handlers. We then did a in-place upgrade to SP 2010. It so happend that we wanted to remove some of our old event handlers and this is where our problem started. We managed to delete event handlers
(SPEventReceiverDefinitions) for
Site and List by using the ui from Brian Wilsons feature "Manage Event Handlers" (ref the link above), but not anyone at all for
Content Types... It simply wouldn't be deleted
(remove was grayed out in the ui).
We then tried to do it by code. Below is a code snippet illustrating how we tried to delete the event handlers for content types:
using (SPWeb web = properties.Feature.Parent as SPWeb)
string targetClassName = "targetClassName.";
web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
// Removing Content Type event handlers
foreach (SPContentType ct in web.ContentTypes)
for (int i = ct.EventReceivers.Count - 1; i >= 0; i--)
if (ct.EventReceivers[i].Class.StartsWith(targetClassName))
ct.EventReceivers[i].Delete();
ct.Update(true);
web.Update();
The Content Types are not sealed and are
not readonly. When debugging, we can see that the
Delete() method are called on one of the Content Types we wanted to delete event handlers for. We noted that the
ct.EventReceivers.Count remains the same, before and after Delete() is called. We did not get any exceptions when running this code.
When running the code a second time and debugging again, we see that the very same Content Type still has the very same event handler attached... As in, it wasn't deleted....
We also tried to delete the event handlers through PowerShell as described
here in the post by Per Jakobsen. However, the script did not really seem to find any EventReceivers... We tried to write the
$site.AllWebs | % {$_.Lists} | % {$_.ContentTypes} | % {$_.EventReceivers} list to file, but it was empty.. We did however get a long list when writing $site.AllWebs | % {$_.Lists} | % {$_.ContentTypes} to file. We could then in
that file see the event handler references we want to remove registered to our Content Types, as we did during code debugging earlier on. So PowerShell might still be the way to go here...
So, does anyone know if there is a way to force this delete through, either by code, PowerShell or some other means? Any help regarding this matter would be very much appreciated :)Hi,
For your information, there's two versions (at least) exists for each content types. One is Site Content Type - exists in Root web and another is list content type. Once you add a content type to a list, a copy of the site content type is taken and stored
in the list. If you update the site content type, it may or may not affect the list conten type. So make sure you are updating the both - site content and list content type. Once you update site content type with passing paramater true to 'ct.Update(true)',
the list content types are supposed to updated too.
Thanks,

Event Handlers for Dynamic Buttons
Hi, I hope someone can help. I just can't figure out how to
solve this problem:
I am creating an number of buttons dynamically that
correspond each to a filename read from a directory. The problem is
I don't know ahead of time how many buttons (files) I will have so
I create them dynamically in action script. -- this much I can do.
What I can't figure out is how do I assign each of these
dynamically created buttons individually specific event handlers?
ie. I need to know which file icon you clicked on and then take
action based on that info.
for example: "folder" is a button icon I have linked from my
library - i name each instance "folder"+i -- what I need to do is
do something for folder1, folder2 etc.
for (i=1;i<numdirs;i++) {
graphics.attachMovie("folder","folder"+i,depth);
graphics["folder"+i]._y= coordy2;
// want to put an event handler here for each
graphics["folder"+i] button
I wanted to do something like:
graphics["folder"+i].onRelease = function() {
test_txt.text = i;
but each button I click on gives me i= numdirs (ie the max
number -- for example 6 if there are 6 files, I can't identify
which button you actually clicked on -- button1 through 6 all
deliver the number 6 to test_txt.text)
I hope that makes sense - if someone can take a swag at this
and point me in the right direction I will be very appreciative.
Best Regards,
TomThere is other way to do that.. whenever you call a
attachMovie or loadMovie
function there is a return value that corresponds to the
actual movieclip
created on the flash movie. ie
for (i=1;i<numdirs;i++) {
var temp_mc:MovieClip =
graphics.attachMovie("folder","folder"+i,depth);
that new reference temp_mc is the newly created movieclip and
you can do
whatever you want with it, ie:
for (i=1;i<numdirs;i++) {
var temp_mc:MovieClip =
graphics.attachMovie("folder","folder"+i,depth);
temp_mc._y = 30
temp_mc.id = I
//even assign new funtions to events
temp_mc.onRelease = releaseFunction
function releaseFunction(){
trace("do something on the release event")

Try/catching errors occuring in synchronous event handlers
Hi,
I know that using try/catch in flash player it is possible to catch only synchronous errors, but recently I ran into code in our application which I strongly believe is synchronous but it behaves as if it wasn't.
In example below I create event listener and inside try/catch I dispatch event. Handler function throws error. Executing code stops when error is thrown, so message "after throwing error" won't be logged, but try/catch block catches nothing and code executes as if nothing happened after event dispatch.
Dispatching event on element executes handler method immediately so it is synchronous execution. Event call stack which is displayed in debug versions of flash player, shows every function from creation of class to execution of handler.
Generally flash applications relays heavily on events and in my case it caused ours users projects to be irreversibly corrupted, because of this continuing to work after error, which I even can't properly detect and handle, cause it's going throught 5 or more event handlers and adding try/catch to each handler would create enormous chaos in my code. So my question is why does flash player behaves like this? Are there any ways to tell compiled SWF file to treat such cases as synchronous calls, f.e. compilation parameters?

import flash.events.Event;

dispatcher.dispatchEvent(new Event(eventName));
} catch (error:Error)
caughtError = true;
cTextField.text += caughtError ? "caught error\n" : "error wasn't caught\n";
protected function handler(event:Event):void
cTextField.text += "before throwing error\n";
throw new Error("throw error");
cTextField.text += "after throwing error\n";Okay, nobody bit. Sorry.
The only way to really figure out what is going on is to look at a running example with a C++ debugger. I'm particularly curious about whether this problem happens in a specific browser/os combination (we may be working around a quirk of that platform), or if it's something that happens everywhere.
The most effective way to proceed is going to be to file a bug with a simplified, executable example (source and compiled SWF, ideally) that demonstrates the problem. This will help me route the bug to a developer and get you an answer in the shortest time possible.
You can file a bug here:
http://bugbase.adobe.com/
If you reply here with the bug number, I'll get it assigned to an engineer.
