Event Handling in C API

Does Internet Directory C API supply the event handling like those in JNDI? Actually Netscape Directory/IBM Secuway Directory supply this features for C SDK, why Oracle Directory Server do not supply it?
Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter:
Have you seen the "Oracle Internet Directory v2.1.1 Application Developers guide"? In chapter 2 there is a section on error handling. Let me know if this answers your question.
Thanks,

  • Event Handling with Java API.: Adding to a hierarchy table throws 2events

    I´m having some problems with the event handling. I´ve registered a Class with extends AbstractDataListener as EventListener. When there are changes in the product hierarchy table, some extra work should be done. However if i add a new record into the hierarchy, two events are fired.
    DEBUG DataEventListener.java:123 - Added:Development;PRODUCT_HIERARCHY;R17;Getra?nke, SEW
    DEBUG DataEventListener.java:123 - Added:Development;PRODUCT_HIERARCHY;R17;32 Zoll, B&R
    DEBUG DataEventListener.java:123 - Added:Development;PRODUCT_HIERARCHY;R18;56 Zoll, Lenze
    DEBUG DataEventListener.java:123 - Added:Development;PRODUCT_HIERARCHY;R18;20 Zoll, allgemein
    In this case, i added the records "32 Zoll, B&R" and then "20 Zoll, allgemein". As you can see in both cases two events are fired and the first event seems to come with wrong data. The reported id for the newly created record is R17. For the logging, i did lookup the entry in the hierarchy table by id and use the displayvalue of the record. But the first event always shows the displayvalue from some already existing entry.
    How can i avoid duplicate events or if this is not possible, how i can recognize that the display value of the first event is not valid.

    I have not tetsted it yet, because I'm waiting for my server to be updated, but SAP told me that the API version 5.5.42.67 should fix the problem.
    Thanks for your post.

  • Difference in event handling between Java and Java API

    could anyone list the differences between Java and java-API in event handling??
    thanks,

    Hiru

    the event handling mechanisms in java language
    features and API (java Application Programming
    Features)features .no library can work without a
    language and no language has event handling built in.
    I am trying to compare and contrast the event
    handling mechanisms in the language and library
    combinations such as java/ java API.
    all contributions are welcome!
    thanks
    cheersSorry, I'm still not getting it. I know what Java is, and I know what I think of when I hear API. (Application Programming Interface.) The API is the aggregation of all the classes and methods you can call in Java. If we agree on that, then the event handling mechanisms in Java and its API are one and the same.
    So what do you want to know?

  • Determine event handler for swing components from the API browser

    Is there a way to determine what event handlers are assocaited with the different swing classes. For example JTextField is associated to ActionListener, and JCheckbox uses the event handle ItemListener. Is there a way to determine this by looking at the class via the Java API?

    Yes, there is. You'll observe that JTextField has an "addActionListener(ActionListener)" method, for a start. And JTextField is a subclass of JTextComponent, which has "addCaretListener(CaretListener)" and "addInputMethodListener(InputMethodListener)" methods. And JTextComponent is a subclass of JComponent, which has an "addAncestorListener(AncestorListener)" method. And so on... there are more. All of this can be found in the API documentation by looking for methods whose names start with "add".

  • Javascript embedded in button pl/sql event handler not being executed

    Javascript calls not working from pl/sql button event handler. What am I missing? Are specific settings needed to execute javascript from pl/sql proceedures?
    Example: Want to toggle target='_blank' off and on in a button pl/sql event handler to open url call in new window & then reset when processing submit is done & the app returns to the form.
    portal form button's pl/sql submit handler:
    begin
    htp.p('<script language=JavaScript>') ;
    htp.p('this.form.target="_blank"') ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target('http://www.oracle.com') ;
    htp.p('<script language=JavaScript>') ;
    htp.p('this.form.target="_blank"') ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    end ;
    Putting the following in the button's javascript on_click event handler works great:
    this.form.target='_blank'
    to force opening new window with a call in the button's submit pl/sql code via:
    PORTAL.wwa_app_module.set_target('http://www.oracle.com') ;
    but then the target='_blank' is left on when the submit is done & we return to the form.
    putting the above javascript as a function (called fcn_newpage) elsewhere (e.g., after form opens) & calling in the submit pl/sql with
    htp.p('fcn_newpage') ;
    also doesn't work.
    Metalink thought this was an application issue instead of a bug, so thought I'd see if anyone knows what's going wrong here. (Portal 9.0.4.1)

    thanks for your discussion of my post.
    Please clarify:
    "htp.p('fcn_newwindow') sends a string":
    What would you suggest the proper syntax for a function fcn_newwindow() call from a pl/sql javascript block that differs from
    htp.p('<script language="Javascript">') ;
    htp.p('fcn_newwindow');
    htp.p('</script>');
    or more simply
    htp.p('fcn_newwindow') ;
    More generally, what I'm trying to figure out is under what conditions javascript is executed, if ever, in the pl/sql of a button (either the submit or custom event handler, depending on the button).
    I've seen lots of posts asking how to do a simple htp.p('alert("THIS IS TROUBLE")') ; in a pl/sql event handler for a button on a form, but no description of how this can be done successfully.
    In addition to alerts, in my case, I'd like to call a javascript fcn from a pl/sql event handle that would pass a URL (e.g., http://www.oracle.com) where the javascript fcn executed
    window.open(URL). The API call to set_target(URL) in pl/sql has no ability to open in a new window, so calling that is inadequate to my needs and I must resort to javascript.
    Its clear in the PL/SQL of a button, you can effect form components since p_session..set_target & p_session.get_target set or get the contents of form components.
    So to see if javascript ever works, I tried to focus on something simple that only had to set what amounts to an enviromental variable when we returned to the form after a post. I chose to try to change the html value of TARGET from javascript in the PL/SQL button because it doesn't need to be implemented until we finish the post and return to the form.
    So I focused on a hack, setting this.form.TARGET='_blank' in the on_click event handler that forced every subsequent URL call or refresh of the form to be a new window. I then wanted to turn off opening new windows once I'd opened the URL call in a new window by setting TARGET='' in the portal form. I can achieve what I want by coding this.form.TARGET='' in the javascript (on_focus, on_change, or on_mousedown, ...) of every form component that might refresh the form. However, that is a ridiculous hack when a simple htp.p('<script>') ; htp.p('this.form.target=""') ; htp.p('</script>') ; at the end of the button's pl/sql event handle should do the same thing reliably if javascript ever works in the pl/sql event handler.
    If we didn't have access to form components through p_session calls, I'd assume it was a scope issue (what is available from the pl/sql event handler). But unless my syntax is just off, when, if ever, can javascript be used in a portal form's pl/sql event handler for a button?
    if I code a javascript funtion in the forms' pl/sql before displaying form:
    htp.p('<script language="JavaScript">') ;
    htp.p('function fcn_new_window(URL)') ;
    htp.p('window.open(URL)' ) ;
    htp.p('</script>') ;
    the function can be called from a button's on_click javascript event handler:
    fcn_new_window('http://www.oracle.com')
    but from the same button's pl/sql submit event handler this call doesn't work: htp.p('fcn_new_window("http://www.oracle.com")')
    So my questions remain: Is there other syntax I need, or does javascript ever work properly from the pl/sql of a form button's event handler? If it doesn't work, isn't this a bug that should be fixed by Oracle?
    I can probably figure out hacks to make things work the way I need, but executing javascript from pl/sql event handlers seems to be the expected way to affect portal html pages (forms, reports, ...) and it seems not to work as expected. I don't feel I should have to implement hacks for something as simple as calling a javascript function from pl/sql when almost every example I've found in metalink or the forums or Oracle Press's "portal bible" suggests using javascript from pl/sql via the utility htp.p() to effect web page components in portal.
    My TAR on the subject, while still open, returned the result basically: "We can reproduce your situation. Everything looks okay to us, but we can't explain how to use javascript where you want or point you to any documentation that would solve your problem or expain why it should not work the way you want it to. We don't feel its a technical issue. Why don't you post the problem on the portal applications forum."
    I'm hoping I'm just missing something fundamental and everything will work if I implement it a little differently. So if anyone sees my error, please let me know.
    by the way, not sure this is germain, but in reference to your comment:
    "redirections in pl/sql procedures give a peculiar result. in a pl/sql procedure, usually, portals give the last redirection statement and ignore anything else coming after it."
    if I try to raise an alert:
    htp.p('alert("you screwed up")');
    return;
    in a pl/sql event handler, it still doesn't raise the alert, even though its the last thing implemented in the event handler. But if I set the value of a text box using p_session..set_value_as_string() at the same spot, it correctly sets the text box value when I return to the form.

  • OIM 11.1.1.5: Post Process Event Handler, change password notification

    Hi,
    Products
    OIM 11.1.1.5 BP02
    OAM 11.1.1.5
    OID 11.1.1.5
    Problem
    I have written a post-process event handler which fires when a role is assigned to a user. The event handler calls a plugin which uses the UserManager API to generate and change the user's password.
    I've tested this by assigning a role to the user via the OIM web console. I can see my log messages indicating that the event handler has fired and that the password has been changed.
    However, I expected that when UserManager.changePassword completed, a notification email would then be sent to the user informing them of the new password, but no notification email has been sent.
    The email notifications have been set up correctly, because I have changed the same user's password via the OIM web console and successfully received a Reset Password email.
    So, my questions are:
    1) Am I right in thinking that when you call UserManager.changePassword(), an out-of-the-box ResetPassword email notification should be sent to the user?
    2) Has anyone got this working in 11.1.1.5?
    Some more detailed info
    In my plugin class I'm calling the following from both execute methods (EventResult and BulkEventResult):
    char newpasswd[] = new RandomPasswordGeneratorImpl().generatePassword(user);
    getUserManager().changePassword(userKey, newpasswd, false, null, true);
    logger.info(("Successfully changed password"));

    No notification will be sent if you changepassword using the method from usermanager api.
    You have to trigger the resetpassword event manullay in your code.
    Here is a sample code to create an event for reset password. Once you create event, invoke it from notification service - notify method.
    NotificationEvent event = new NotificationEvent();
    String[] receiverUserIds= {userLogin};
    event.setUserIds(receiverUserIds);
    event.setTemplateName("ResetPasswordNotification");
    event.setSender(null);
    HashMap<String, Object> resolvedData = new HashMap<String, Object>();
    resolvedData.put("userLoginId", userLogin);
    event.setParams(resolvedData);

  • Help needed in implementing validation event handler in OIM 11g

    Hello experts,
    I am trying to set username policy by implementing a validation event handler in OIM 11.1.1.5.
    Following are the steps followed
    1. Import metadata
    Created a file called Eventhandler.xml as below and imported using weblogicImportmetadata.sh
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <eventhandlers xmlns="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.oracle.com/schema/oim/platform/kernel orchestration-handlers.xsd">
    <validation-handler class="test.iam.eventhandlers.CustomValidationEventHandler" entity-type="User" operation="CREATE" name="CustomValidationEventHandler" order="1000" sync="TRUE"/>
    </eventhandlers>
    2. Register plugin
    plugin.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <oimplugins xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <plugins pluginpoint="oracle.iam.platform.kernel.spi.ValidationHandler">
    <plugin pluginclass="test.iam.eventhandlers.CustomValidationEventHandler" version="1.0" name="CustomValidationEventHandler" />
    </plugins>
    </oimplugins>
    Just givng sys out in the below code to check whther it is getting triggerred during user create.
    package test.iam.eventhandlers;

    I have implemented preprocess and postprocess event handler before with similar kind of plugin registration, metadata import and everything worked fine. Not sure what is the problem here with validation event handler.
    Thanks

    Instead of registering the plug-in can u try placing it in the plugins folder under Oracle_IDM1/server folder.
    at times restart is required. esp when the server is running in production mode.

  • User Recon and Event Handler  Issue in OIM11g

    Hello Experts,
    I am developing a Trusted Source Recon (User) for a proprietary application. I have devloped two java classes and put them into a jar file and placed the same jar in both ScheduleTask and EventHandlers directory of OIM.
    1.UserRecon class -- for User Recon
    2. EventHandler class -- update user's password after reconciling the user using API.
    In the User Recon class , I have defined a static HashMap variable to store the user and user's password as a class variable. The flow will be like this,
    1. Query trsuted source
    2. Reconcile user (except password because password can not be)
    3. Update the map with userid (key) and password.
    4. After reconciling , In the event handler use the same map to read user's password and set the password in OIM using API. (setXelleratePassword).
    5.After successful password set remove the entry from Map.
    The idea is to avoid making additional call to trusted source to retrieve the user's password.
    This worked in OIM9102. But when I tested the same in 11g it did not work.... Though the User Recon class updates the record into the HashMap , In the eventhandler , the HashMap is always coming as "empty".
    I did the below changes for 11g,
    1. Modified the EventHandler class to suite for 11g.
    2. Deployed the event handler as a plugin
    3. Placed the same jar file in Schedule task directory of OIM 11g
    I am unable find out where it is going wrong?? and tired of troubleshooting. Can you assist me ?
    Thanks and Regards

    put the printstacktrace, so that problem can be identify
    sample code
    HashMap hash= null;
    try{
    hash = get map from other class
    //class be load at this point, if class is not loaded than you will get exception.
    }catch(Throwable t){
    // hope you will get some error or exception here
    t.printstacktrace();

    Anyone have idea about why "Groups.Key" not found exception thrown here..

  • Event handler : handleEvent(Event event)

    Good day,
    The deprecated event handler "handleEvent(Event event)" has been replaced by "processEvent(AWTEvent event)" as per the docs.
    With some research, I came up with this little conversion chart :
    item handleEvent processEvent
    ====== ============ ============
    x event.x event.getX()
    y event.y event.getY()
    id event.id event.getID()
    target event.target ???
    ====== ============ =============
    I'm just trying to compile a list of conversion for deprecated APIs with some extra information to "ease" the transition process.
    Is the above information right or am I still missing the boat ?
    Please apply necessary corrections wherever applicable.
    Best regards.

  • Error in post process event handler

    We should write a post process event handler that updates the manager field. So, I used the following code to update the manager field when a user gets created:
    Code:
    public EventResult execute(long processId, long eventId,
    Orchestration orchestration) {
    System.out.println("Test for Event Handler");
    try
    String userKey = getUserKey(processId, orchestration);
    System.out.println("USERKEY1"+userKey);
    UserManager userMgmt = Platform.getService(UserManager.class);
    System.out.println("USERMANAGEMENT"+userMgmt);
    System.out.println(userMgmt.modify(new User(userKey)));
    userMgmt.modify("usr_mgr_key","28",new User(userKey));
    System.out.println("USERKEY2"+userKey);
    } catch (ValidationFailedException e) {
    System.out.println("Exception1");
    } catch (AccessDeniedException e) {
    System.out.println("Exception2");} catch (UserModifyException e) {
    System.out.println("Exception3");} catch (NoSuchUserException e) {
    System.out.println("Exception4");} catch (SearchKeyNotUniqueException e) {
    return new EventResult();
    private String getUserKey (long processID, Orchestration orchestration) {
    String userKey;
    String entityType = orchestration.getTarget().getType();
    EventResult result;
    result = new EventResult();
    System.out.println("Entity Type"+entityType);
    System.out.println("Process ID"+processID);
    if (!orchestration.getOperation().equals("CREATE")) {
    userKey = orchestration.getTarget().getEntityId();
    System.out.println("UserKEY0"+userKey);
    } else {
    OrchestrationEngine orchEngine = Platform.getService(OrchestrationEngine.class);
    userKey = (String) orchEngine.getActionResult(processID);
    System.out.println("UserKEY-1"+userKey);
    return userKey;
    It compiles fine and when we try to create a user, the user gets created successfully. But, the expected behaviour of upadting the manager field with the user key '28' is not happening. My approach above - is it right or is there any other method that will make it work?
    The output message I see is:
    Test for Event Handler
    Entity TypeUser
    Process ID140343
    UserKEY-1613
    USERKEY1613

    Thanks
    Krish

    i hope wrong coding.
    Use this code.
    UserManager userMgmt = oimClient.getService(UserManager.class);
    //Attribute you want to modify
    HashMap<String, Object> atrrMap= new HashMap<String, Object>();
    atrrMap.put("usr_manager_key", Long.valueOf("1")); //user will upadated with manager key 1 (xelsysadm) make sure usr_key 1 (manager) exist in OIM.
    //get the user to whom you want to modify
    User user = userMgmt.getDetails("usr_key", "41", null);
    user = new User(String.valueOf(user.getId()), atrrMap);
    UserManagerResult result = userMgmt.modify("usr_key", String.valueOf("41"), user);
    //UserManagerResult str = userMgmt.modify("usr_mgr_key","111",new User("41"));
    System.out.println("UserUpdate.process() "+result.getStatus());
    Also don't use UserManager class, As it will go for looping.
    Use
    EntityManager entityManager = Platform.getService(EntityManager.class);
    entityManager.modifyEntity(orchestrationTarget.getType(), userKey, mapAttrs);
    Also I am assuming you want to use Associate manager With user use case.
    Thanks,
    Kuldeep

  • Jvm unnamed windows events handle leak 1.3.1_08-b03 - 1.4.2-b28

    Hello,
    I have an server application that leaks windows unnamed event handles on small loads. (200 network connections) I've used the process explorer from www.sysinternals.com to find the type of handles that where leaking. I've run my application through jprobe several times and i'm not leaking any java objects. it doesn't happen on every run. It can run about 5 to 10 times with no leak but as i continue running a request that has 200 network connnections it will leak one handle. Over time they add up memory increases and eventually we get a out of memory error and the server has to be restarted
    My application uses the following
    java version "1.3.1_08"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_08-b03)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_08-b03, mixed mode)
    windows server 2000 service pack 3 (I've tried sp1 and sp2 same issue)
    starting and stopping threads
    inet jdbc driver una2000
    zlib compression libraries
    encryption DES
    sockets
    no jni code
    My network code uses input.available() and Socket.setSoTimeout() I don't think the setSoTimeOut time is timing anything out on these small runs.
    I've also have run it with
    java version "1.4.2"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-b28)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-b28, mixed mode)
    I've tried not stopping any threads from my thread pool and it made no change. It still leaks! :-(
    Does anyone know what creates the unamed event handles? Are they created by synchronization? Since my applications uses so many different api's it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
    p.s. I've been working on this problem on and off for about 1 month. I've search the java forums and google.
    Thanks
    Alexander Anguiano

    My message has been here for a while and is off the first page. :-( Oh, well. I thought I would update this just incase anyone was following it. (can I award my self those duke dollars?)
    I think i've found the problem of why we are leaking handles. In the first 10 minutes it leaked 3 handles.(they may not have leaked but are resource that our application needed because of all the lazy initialization that we do) I've been runing a 200 task request every 5 minutes for the last 6 hours and have not leak any handles. The problem appears to be with calls to socket.setSoTimeout. I set it to 0. This effectively tells the socket to never time out. This is not an acceptable solution to the problem. I will be working on that next.
    Has any one had problems with the socket.setSoTimeout?
    If not then it may have to do with our simulated select. We have one thread that handles connection. Once the connection is established it's put on a list that get's polled [input.available()] that is handled by thread 2 if there is data then it gets handled by a worker thread [thread n-12]. Once the worker thread has read up to 4K of data it is put back on thread 2. I'm thinking that it has to do with so many thread doing a little work on it.

  • How to trigger navigation to a portal iView from server side event handler

    Hi,
    I am modifying the workset map application. I have created custom URL links under each iView which should navigate to different iViews depending on some business logic. So I had to provide a custom event handler for these iVIew links and the path to the next iview is dynamically created by the code in the event handler. Once the new PCD path is generated, the event handler should trigger a navigation to that PCD object. Which APIs can I use to trigger this navigation from the server side event handler? I have done this before in webdynpro where we used WDPortalNavigation (.absoluteNavigation or .relativeNavigation). Is there something similar that i can use in this case (i.e. when developing a simple Portal Application from an AbstractPortalComponent)?

    Hi,
    On my understanding of your requirement.
    the best solution what i think is use Object Based Navigation(OBN).
    Is much suitable to your requirement.
    Moreover you can use
    1.Relative navigation
    2.Absolute navigation.
    In the same way how you used in web dynpro.
    Same thing can be done in abstract portal component also.
    Try using that.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lokesh

  • Is event handling possible with any object?

    can i set a event notification to any object? say for example if i have a multidimensional array of strings can i associate a event handler with it so that when a different application or part of a code changes it's contents i can fire a method?
    consider the scenario
    initially...
    String userId[][]=new String[R][C];
    public MyServer()
            userId[0][0] = "mr00047";
            userId[0][1] = "false";
            userId[1][0] = "dider7";
            userId[1][1] = "false";
            userId[2][0] = "thegreendove";
            userId[2][1] = "false";
    }now at some point the content of the userId array changes
    for(int i=0;i<3;i++)
                    if(temp.equals(MyServer.userId[0]))
    flag=true;
    MyServer.userId[i][1]="true"; // I want to fire a method from this point
    break;
    can any body tell me how can i do it? please help!!!
