Excel-Export WAD 7.0 - Header/Footer/Margins

Dear all,
I used the Header/Footer and Margin options in the export wizard (export to excel) but it doesn't work. When I print the excel file no header/footer information are shown. as well as the margin settings of the printed page are not as I entered.
I know that I should use the pdf-export (it works fine), nevertheless the customer wants to have a "formatted printing" even out of a generated excel-file.
Any ideas?
Or do the input options regarding header/footer and so on only refer to the pdf-export?
Thanks in advance.
Mark

Dear Mark,
Unfortunately Excel exporting is not designed for such purposes. The only option you have is to specify which web items are to be exported (using the Export to Excel button with the standard command). In case you want to export from the context menu, it will send to Excel everything which is on the screen, so, no way to control.
You could consider a workbook for a better formatted Excel, if really needed.
Kind Regards,
Marcio

  • Header & footer margins need to be different from body margins

    I am writing a paper that will be printed double-sided, using mirror margins.
    The paper must include sidebar information such as call outs and comments that will be used by the reader to navigate the document quickly to specific information and to be directed to other parts of the document.
    To provide the space for the side bar, I want to restrict the body text to a 4 inch wide area. I want to use text frames to add in sidebar items later.
    The sidebar area must always be oriented toward the outside of the page.
    I will need to revise the document over time, both for the initial publication and for later versions. This includes incorporating graphics into the 4 inch wide body content.
    I want the header and footer to span the entire width of the page, across both the sidebar area and the body text.
    I have attempted to accomplish the above by using page styles, with mirroring and the use of conventional-width margins and headers and footers, and then restricting the width of the body text by inserting styles. However, Writer does not mirror the section indentations. Because of this, I have to manually add a new section at the start of each page. When it comes time to revise or add graphics, this will be an unbelievable nightmare because "pagination" will be thrown completely out of whack. It will be unmanageable.
    The format I need is pretty common for instructional material.
    Is there a way, or an add-on, to allow wider margins for the header and footer, while mirroring an indentation for body text?

    I have come up with a solution to the problem...it isn't all that elegant, but it works: I am putting a blank white image into the document, positioned to make the body text wrap around it and then positioning text frames over the blank white image as necessary, anchored to the paragraphs in the body text. In order for this solution to work, it is necessary to anchor the white image to the page itself and manipulate positioning and/or spacing parameters to position it just right to force the proper wrap behavior.
    Still, if it were possible to give the headers and footers wider margins than the body text, none of this workaround would be necessary....

    Could someone suggest which system files to look into to resolve this??
    Regards.

    i'm using 11.1.1.5 and i have been reading about a lot of bug in this version, specially with excel exports and formats. So i suppose we need to apply a consolidated patch to get over this. Any idea whats the patch id ? is it going to be a good idea to convince the client for an upgrade to 11.1.1.6 ?? what are the pros and cons in this action stated?

  • Word Header and footer margin is reset to 0 when exported from SSRS 2008 R2

    Hi,
    I am using SSRS 2008 R2 to create reports. While exporting to Word format, the Header and the Footer margins are getting reset to Zero  and the user has to manually adjust the margins to get the right print. (While Printing, some portion of the
    Header is getting chopped off.). Export to PDF and Excel is fine.
    Please help and let me know if there is a solution to this ? or any service packa availalbe for SSRS 2008 R2 , that can fix this issue.
    Thanks,Poonam

    Hi Poonam,
    Word and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) treat page headers and footers differently. Word actually positions them inside the page margins, whereas SSRS positions them inside the area that the margins surround. As a result, in Word, the page margins
    do not control the distance between the top edge of the page and that of the page header.
    So when exporting report to word, the page header begin from the top edge. However, in Word there are white spaces preserved from the top edge by default. So some portion of the Header is getting chopped off when printing.
    In this case, one way to avoid this issue is using the “From edge” property in Word. Click “Page Setup” in the Print window and then click “Layout” tab, then set the “From edge” property value. The screenshot below is for your reference:
    Another way to avoid this issue is keep some white spaces from the top edge in SSRS. The screenshot below is for your reference:

  • Excel export contains a blank row for the Report Header

    Hi,
    I am getting a blank row as the first row in my SSRS report when exported to excel. I have already taken care of following things,
    1. I have hidden all of the Page Header items using Globals
    2. The position of Report Body Tablix is 0, that means there is no space between report header and Report Body.
    I have developed this Report in SSRS 2012, please let me know if any more details are required. I think even after hiding Header Items, excel creates a placeholder for page header. I can't remove header from my reports as it is needed to be published in
    pdf.
    Regards
    Mohit

    Hi Mohit,
    According to your description, you are getting a blank row as the first row in your excel report when you export the report to excel, you have hidden all the items in the Page Header by using the Globals, right?
    This blank row is for the page header, although you have hidden all the items in it, but it will still display when export report to excel. Because we can’t hidden the page Header directly. Normally, we can hidden all the items in the page Header, So in
    the design phase we can also see the blank area above the report body when preview.
    We have an alternative way by add the “SimplePageHeaders” setting in “RSReportserver.config” file, after configuration the page Header will not display in the first row of the worksheet but is rendered to the Excel page header. In Reporting Services, the
    “SimplePageHeaders” default value is “FALSE” and it indicates that the page header is rendered to the first row of the worksheet. In order to display the page header in the Header/Footer section of Excel, we need to set the “SimplePageHeaders” setting value
    to “TRUE”. I did a test on my local machine and here are my steps:
    Navigate to RSReportserver.config file: <drive:> Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportserver.config.
    Backup the RSReportserver.config file before modify it, open the RSReportserver.config file with Notepad format.
    Set the Excel rendering extension code like this:
    <Render>
    <Extension Name="EXCELOPENXML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelOpenXmlRenderer.ExcelOpenXmlRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering">
    <Configuration>
    <DeviceInfo>
    <SimplePageHeaders>TRUE</SimplePageHeaders>
    </DeviceInfo>
    </Configuration>
    </Extension>
    </Render>
      4.  Save the RSReportserver.config file.
    Note: Changing the rendering extension parameters only affects rendering operations on the Report Server.
    When I access to Report Manager and export the report(includes a page header) to Excel format, the blank row will disappear now.

  • Issue with export in Excel in WAD

    Hi
    I have an issue with export to excel in WAD. I have a web template with two or more tabs.
    On the webtemplate I have two buttons to export to excel. One to export the content from the active tab and one button to export content in all tabs.
    My problem is that when I export to excel it always add the current/active content twice. I've tried with both buttons and they work as expected except that they export one table to much (the active).
    can anyone help / give a clue what to look for.

  • How do you freeze the tablix header row in an Excel export file in SSRS 2008?

    So this is totally killing me.
    I've found out how to make a tablix header row repeat on each page of a PDF export file in SSRS 2008 (which I won't even get started on because all I can say is that 2005 is way better), but I cannot figure out how to make a simple header row of a tablix
    freeze in an Excel export file.  The tablix is right at the top of the body and spans the entire width of the design area.  How in the world do you get it to freeze in the Excel export file?

    Rashiki777,
    From your information, I get that you want to freeze the tablix header when view the report in Excel. Please follows
    these steps:
     Click
    the header row
    Click
    View menu on  top of the toolbar, then you will Freeze Panes
    Select one kind of Freeze based on your requirement.
    This link supplies the detailed steps
    http://inpics.net/tutorials/excel2007/vis5.html If you have any concern, please feel free to ask.
    Of course,
    you could utilize the list control to display a certain rows on one sheet, then every sheet in Excel will have one header, the steps are following:
    Drag a list into report body, right-click
    Details in Row Groups panel to select Group Properties….
    Click
    Add button, then type in expression =ceiling(RowNumber(nothing)/25)
    in the textbox Note: 25 is just 25 rows per page, you could reset this value based on your requirement.
    Drag the table control into this list control.
    If you want to display every page in every sheet, you could add a page break to the table control in the list.
    Best regards,
    Challen Fu

  • Excel Chart Header/Footer

    I am having a really hard time trying to write to the chart header and footer using Active X.  I have an excel file that I want to use as a template to write my data to.  In this file I have some sheets and some charts that have their source data tied to a sheet and the cells on the sheet.  I can write my data through Active X to the sheets and enter my header and footer without a problem.  I can even select the the charts and print them, but when I try to write headers and footers to the charts nothing happen.  I get no error messages or anything.  I currently select the chart and then use the PageSetup property to write to the header information just like I am doing for the individual sheets, but for some reason this does nothing.  Also I tried changing the chart title and stuff like that and I get nothing too.  Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?  I can't seem to figure out what I am missing.

    Sorry for the late response, my code are on my computer at work so I couldn't respond over the weekend.  Here is a copy of the spreadsheet and the code I use to write to the sheet's header/footer and the code for writing to the chart's header/footer.  Please let me know what is wrong and if you need anything else from me.  Thank

  • How do I reset margins & header/footer?

    I wanted to extend the printing margins so I could get more printout from a map. I left all the Headers & Footers options "blank" hoping this would do it. Instead I get nothing. I can't print anything online - it's all blank. How can I reset the page setup? Even the Page Setup/Margins & Header/Footer page is blank! HELP!

    I think you might be opening your Pdf document in Adobe Reader. If you try open your pdf document in Adobe Standard and check again as far as your option are concerned you should be able to do that.

  • FF 6 "Page Setup" missing "Format & Options" and "Margins & Header/Footer" tabs

    Running 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 on FreeBSD 8.2-STABLE when I select File->Page Setup the standard popup window no longer has tabs for "Format & Options" and "Margins & Header/Footer" that I see on Windows XP when running 6.0.2 - this would be okay were it not for the fact that printing (using CUPS on FreeBSD) no longer prints the headers and footers (which I see just fine when I do Print Preview) something in FF 6.x has regressed and is affecting Page Setup.

    Yep, this I know. And have long since done this (probably before FireFox was called Mozilla). In fact my margins are set the way I want them (and have been unchanged for years - at least since 2006). That was the first thing I checked.
    The fact is ever since I upgrated to 6.01 from 5.x (which was a few weeks ago) my printing from FF6 has not included the footers and headers. As I've said, I can see my footers and headers when I perform Print Preview, but they do not appear on the printed page(s), I truly believe this is changed behaviour due to the upgrade to FF6. Next week I will try a screen capture of my Print Preview to include an image for the "Add images:" feature when posting a reply, but I don't know how to show the physical printed page lacking those same headers and footers short of shooting a photograph with a macro lens and including that as an image. Therefore for now, you will just have to take my word for the fact of missing footers and headers. Also, next week I would be able to post here my about:config settings for the margin preferences which I assure you have remained unchanged for several years. FWIW, printing from Opera 11.11 to the same printer from the same workstation where FF6 is running does include my footers and headers. To my thinking this fairly much puts the blame for this problem on FF6. Thanks.

  • IDCS4 Export to PDF (Header/Footer Screwed Up) in PDF...Possible Solution?

    THE PROBLEM (See "Evil footer setup.pdf"):
    When you convert a IDCS4 document to a PDF while using a 2-page master, the PDF may be missing the odd or even pages. The page content (silly face) is there, but the header and/or footer is screwed up on either the odd or even pages.  The even pages are mess up in this example.
    THE REASON:
    INCS4 does not like a single (header and footer) box to be dragged across both pages.  Whe you do, you get them on one page or the other. Anything in theses header/foot goes asta-la-bye bye. In "Evil footer setup.pdf" both the header and footer boxes were two separate boxes drawn on one side, then dragged across the other page.
    THE SOLUTION: (See "Happy footer setup.pdf")
    On the 2-page master, set up the even (left pages) first with all of the header and footer information (include bleeds). If your using colored boxes for the header and foot area, put them on the bottom layer and put all text and page numbers on a new layer above. In the "Happy footer setup" example, the even (left) page header is identified by light cyan and the footer is identified by light magenta. Once the left side is done, group it, dup it and move it to the odd page (right side). The header on the odd (right) pages is now dark cyan while the footer is dark magenta.  Once boths sides are set up, overlap each header and footer onto the opposite page by 1/8 of an inch to cover any gaps (seen in the happy example). This is assuming the header on both sides is the same color.
    The "Sample Master Pages.pdf" (TOP) shows a single box header and footer dragged across 2 pages. (BOTTOM) shows a single box header and footer on each individual page.  Remember the layers. Compare the sample to Happy and Evil and you'll get the idea.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Do they print if you chose to shrink to printable area in the printing options? I'm wondering if it's possible that your printer has a default border and the header/footer is getting cut off.

  • How can I change the margin for the header/footer?

    The header/footer are about .5 from the top/bottom but I want them at about .3/.4. How can I change this?

    Would be useful to enter the Help menu and trigger the menu item Pages User Guide.
